Nice write up, OP. I have EWZ in my 401k for Brazil exposure and am swinging PBR commons and calls in my trading account since March 2nd to nice gains.

EWZ.

The 1st week of Feb the market liquidated Gold. The 1st week of March the market liquidated World Stocks ex US. I wonder what will be liquidated next? I'm guessing US stocks?? So this bear is BTD on entire coutry ETF's. I do get your point on South Korea being in a bubble. I liquidated that position for a 5% loss Wednesday. But if you look a 20 year chart for $EWJ or $EWZ a 25% drop takes you to dot com prices. At some point it's pointless to sell some of these world economies like Japan and Brazil in a liquidation crisis. Now $VXUS will be my largest position when all this dip buying is done.

Do half and half, bro. Always takes the mental strain off. Pick a few etfs , it's a good way to check out other areas, market wise and geographically. IEZ, MOO, SI, EWZ (If we have a global recession I think Brazil might outperform US. Also Norway, Canada and Australia.) An individual stock I like is FIX.

If the war is long term, energy surplus producing or energy independant countries with stable democracies far from the middle east would probably do best. Many country's outperformed our S&P last year and were already on track to do it again. If we have a recession they will probably fare better. Whole country etfs for Norway ENOR 19% ytd, Brazil EWZ 12%, Australia UWA 6.6%, Canada EWC 2%. I expect Canada and Australia especially to rise quicker given their energy sectors. If gold, copper and silver surge Mexico EWW 3.2% and Peru EPU 13% stand to gain with their stable energy sectors and heavy mining industries. This is without all the people like you and me who are going to rotate into these in the next few days and weeks as we begin to believe our eyes that this has probably only just begun. Here goes my first year of self directed investing!

I somehow did it lol Like a year ago, i had almost 100% US, decided to move 10% to EWZ (brasil) because the index was on its hidtorical minimum even though brasil has growth steadily last decades. It was a very dumb decision, but it doubled in value since then lol Then, when trump won i decided i finally wanted some actual international exposure, not just a random latin american country, so i moved 30% to VXUS, 30% up since then I still have that stupid 10% in brasil, i will probably split that in voo and vxus one of these days Very dumb decisions with which i got very lucky as i was learning to invest

Mentions:#EWZ#VXUS

I know nothing about Brazil and am not shorting but 10% of EWZ is NU and 35% is finance companies...OP is saying have fake banks is leading to a crash and provides some anecdotal evidence....if banks collapse (or what people consider banks) then the economy will crash doesnt really matter the sector as in the world in 08. Financial plumbing is crucial to any economy

Mentions:#EWZ#NU

Imagine being Pam, who is bragging on a measly 16% gain on SPY on an entire year. Whereas, EWY (South Korea) is up 137% annually EWZ (Brazil) is 51% EPOL (Poland) is up 52%, TSX 60/EWC (Canada) is up 35%, EWI (Italiy) is up 43%, FEZ (Euro Large Cap) is up 27% I can go on so, so, soo many South American, Asian and European countries whose indexes are boomtown, ripfest, new moon every day compared to SPY at this point. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

I bought EWY, EWZ, EEM calls at start of the year. Freakin' EWZ is up 21%, my calls are big chilling atm, may rotate them into FEZ (Europe) or EWJ (Japan) if a bear thesis on Brazil gets louder.

Brother, ZOOM OUT. Look at Brazil (EWZ) since the early 2000s. That's a bubble??? The rotation is just beginning. Look at the BAK chart. Only apsychopath value investors like me are in that shit. It's the definition of bottom fishing. The only stock of the ones I listed that's richly values is NU. And so what if another fintech IPO'd today. Even if there were idiosyncratic risks in the sector (I don't think there are) why the hell are you shorting the entire economy via EWZ? People have forgotten how to invest outside the US.

Mentions:#EWZ#BAK#NU

Brazil's economy is effectively one gigantic commodity - metals, oil, wood pulp, grain, soybean, sugar, pork, on an on - and this idiot wants to short the country as we rotate into a commodity supercycle. There's a reason EWZ is up \~50% in a year. I personally own: \- EWZ \- Nubank \- B3 SA Bolsy (Brazilian stock exchange) \- BAK (agriculture) Look up any of those tickers and tell me how they've performed since the start of the year. Newsflash: banks perform well in an economic boom. OP is a moron.

I just created a watch list in IBKR with most of these names listed on this thread, added the many that I own as well. ILF, MXF, EWL, EWZ and so on. I think, and this is not a popular opinion, that investing outside of the USA offers tremendous value and safety when you look at the yields and price metrics compared to the USA. That said, ALL equities everywhere are extremely highly priced, the international names of whatever flavor are up somewhere around 50% over the last two years, just like the USA. We have become conditioned to assume this is normal, but its not. Timing is hard, but adding a significant amount of capital (relative to your net worth) probably isnt a great idea right now.

EWZ. You're welcome

Mentions:#EWZ

Posts like this remind me there's going to be an entire generation of investors who are going to learn you have to rotate out of tech.....the hard way. The VOO and chill crowd doesn't need to worry, they are still a stone's throw away from ATH. But the stock pickers, especially the tech ones, are confused why they are down 20-30% and will bag hold through the next bear market. Look at international stock market (EWZ, EWJ, EWY), the Russel, metals, even energy. Lots of things are ripping and new bubbles are forming elsewhere. People have just been spoiled by the mag 7 and these other tech companies and think that's all there is to investing.

VEA / VEU / PICK a bunch of country etfs too, look on the ishares website for tickers like EWW, EWZ, ILF, etc etc

Gather around good folks, I call this, the 'every man for himself trade', nations are treating their own stock exchange like national olympics: 1Y performance: SPY: 15.04% TSX (Canada): 32% EWZ (Brazil): 54.68% EPOL (Poland): 62.21% EWI (Italy): 44.64% EWP (Spain): 64.6% EWY (South Korea): 131.29% (this really is crazy, lol) Freakin' things are ripping, I can list several more national indexes just boomtowns, and what's interesting is that many fund managers with international and even emerging mandates tend to OVERLOOK above nations, still favoring Japan, China, France, Germany, the U.K often times.

Literally all of them. But cheap ones (on a relative basis) still are coal, oil, nat gas, iron ore, lithium, potash, agriculture to name a few. Emerging markets are fantastic as well like EWZ, EEM, ILA Other good ones that are breaking out so not at their cheapest but still low are copper, uranium, and of course silver gold platinum palladium have all led the way. Everything else is following. But this is only the start. Chart commodities against S&P and you can see us breaking out from a generational falling wedge into a double bottom

Brother with $1000 you will feel tight. Like really tight. You need to find something that is regularly overpriced volatility wise. I'm not saying you should hold it forever. EWZ went 1989% up in about six years, from October 2002 to May 2008, while the S&P 500 went up 66% on the same timeframe. Many people in the Brazilian investment subreddit (myself included) believe national stocks are undervalued right now and a correction is due. You can speculate with ETF from individual countries, if you keep in mind that it's speculative. The ARGT (Argentinean stocks) went 31% up last month alone, because of local elections. I'm sure there are people in the US and in developed countries who made a lot of money wit that trade, and it's pretty much the same as betting in election results: it's risky, but it's less risky when you know what you're doing. Or when you're a huge hedge fund with a lot of analysts who know what they're doing.

You've got the right idea but you should be comparing to gold - aka real money. Also it's unpopular to use NYSE as a market barometer. I'd use Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 or Nasdaq instead. Gold is smoking them all by the way. Smoking the EWZ Brazil ETF too.

SP500 is up 91% last 5 years. Also Brazil's market hasn't recovered from the 08 crisis, still like 30/40% down from pre great depression peak. Even EWZ was like usd 100 back then and valued in the low 30s today. Brazil has become a buy below 30 sell above 40 for almost a decade now. LOL. I'm here considering to sell my $EWZ shares. PBR is controlled by the Brazilian government, and the government is right now: 1. Spending like a drunken sailor, making billions in debt while publicly stating they have no plans to stop spending. With elections next year, they will be spending even more like there's no tomorrow, and this is leading to interest rates that don't stop going up. 2. Taxing the US as much as 100%, so the retaliatory taxes will hit Brazil hard. 3. Fighting against Elon Musk, including the president's wife saying "F U Elon" on TV. 4. Pushing the BRICS to stop trading in USD, something that Trump is very upset about. 5. Pushing for Big Tech censorship, something that Mango is crazy to retaliate against. Once Mango is done with the current issues with Canada/Mexico/Europe/Russia/Ukraine, he will be back to attack Brazil. It's just a matter of time. He's just a bit too busy right now.

I watch the stock market very closely and I want to explain something: Look at OP position  What is the only stock that isn’t red? #Vale  Why Vale?  Iron ore demand has been extremely low as the Chinese economy has been stagnant  Look at Chinese stocks this past month and look at  Vale they trade in sympathy because the stimulation of their economy directly correlates with increased profits for Vale due to increased demand for iron ore to build new construction  That and a general rebound among undervalued Brazilian stocks is why EWZ is one of my top plays I have made a lot of money on NEM options the past month because of strength in gold but prior to that was down a lot of them if you look a couple months ago when gold declined the miners go hit twice as hard and still haven’t recovered to previous highs so you have to be mindful of the current market sentiment because gold thrives only in times of economic uncertainty
