Gather around good folks, I call this, the 'every man for himself trade', nations are treating their own stock exchange like national olympics: 1Y performance: SPY: 15.04% TSX (Canada): 32% EWZ (Brazil): 54.68% EPOL (Poland): 62.21% EWI (Italy): 44.64% EWP (Spain): 64.6% EWY (South Korea): 131.29% (this really is crazy, lol) Freakin' things are ripping, I can list several more national indexes just boomtowns, and what's interesting is that many fund managers with international and even emerging mandates tend to OVERLOOK above nations, still favoring Japan, China, France, Germany, the U.K often times.

PBR has been good to me. I am looking at EWZ to stash the profits.

Ya I'm up on EWZ bigly.

Not a lot of CHEAP commodity big dawgs left. VALE is my favorite. Forward P/E of 7 with emerging market and commodity bull tail winds. Brazil major index EWZ just broke out of a massive pattern….VALE is 10 percent of that index…

Mentions:#VALE#EWZ

Literally all of them. But cheap ones (on a relative basis) still are coal, oil, nat gas, iron ore, lithium, potash, agriculture to name a few. Emerging markets are fantastic as well like EWZ, EEM, ILA Other good ones that are breaking out so not at their cheapest but still low are copper, uranium, and of course silver gold platinum palladium have all led the way. Everything else is following. But this is only the start. Chart commodities against S&P and you can see us breaking out from a generational falling wedge into a double bottom

Mentions:#EWZ#EEM

Brother with $1000 you will feel tight. Like really tight. You need to find something that is regularly overpriced volatility wise. You can try IBIT or EWZ: with the US going after Venezuela, the country risk around brazil is increasing. So you can just sell ATM straddle 28 dte, every other week. It's boring but it should work well this year.

Mentions:#IBIT#EWZ

Anyone buying EWZ puts on BRLUSD weakness? If Yen keeps shitting the bed and EM currencies follow it I cant see how EWZ doesnt take a dump of at least 10% first Q 2026

I'm not saying you should hold it forever. EWZ went 1989% up in about six years, from October 2002 to May 2008, while the S&P 500 went up 66% on the same timeframe. Many people in the Brazilian investment subreddit (myself included) believe national stocks are undervalued right now and a correction is due. You can speculate with ETF from individual countries, if you keep in mind that it's speculative. The ARGT (Argentinean stocks) went 31% up last month alone, because of local elections. I'm sure there are people in the US and in developed countries who made a lot of money wit that trade, and it's pretty much the same as betting in election results: it's risky, but it's less risky when you know what you're doing. Or when you're a huge hedge fund with a lot of analysts who know what they're doing.

My issue is that EWZ is only up 65% since August 1 2000 (the earliest trading date I can see atm). That is horrendous. I don't think it did any better in the 20th century

You've got the right idea but you should be comparing to gold - aka real money. Also it's unpopular to use NYSE as a market barometer. I'd use Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 or Nasdaq instead. Gold is smoking them all by the way. Smoking the EWZ Brazil ETF too.

SP500 is up 91% last 5 years. Also Brazil's market hasn't recovered from the 08 crisis, still like 30/40% down from pre great depression peak. Even EWZ was like usd 100 back then and valued in the low 30s today. Brazil has become a buy below 30 sell above 40 for almost a decade now. Incredibly cheap right now though, I would agree with that.

What else was excluded besides aircraft, energy and oranges? No country got a blanket tariff. Brazil got fucked here trying to play hard ball. That's because it's more political than just trade. He only excluded aircraft, orange juice and energy. The rest got hit with 50%. That's worse than most countries. India got 25% with exemptions on tech. Most countries received some exemptions on key products. Brazil literally got the worst tariffs. How is this a better outcome? Look up EWZ, the ETF that tracks Brazilian tickers. LOL. I'm here considering to sell my $EWZ shares. PBR is controlled by the Brazilian government, and the government is right now: 1. Spending like a drunken sailor, making billions in debt while publicly stating they have no plans to stop spending. With elections next year, they will be spending even more like there's no tomorrow, and this is leading to interest rates that don't stop going up. 2. Taxing the US as much as 100%, so the retaliatory taxes will hit Brazil hard. 3. Fighting against Elon Musk, including the president's wife saying "F U Elon" on TV. 4. Pushing the BRICS to stop trading in USD, something that Trump is very upset about. 5. Pushing for Big Tech censorship, something that Mango is crazy to retaliate against. Once Mango is done with the current issues with Canada/Mexico/Europe/Russia/Ukraine, he will be back to attack Brazil. It's just a matter of time. He's just a bit too busy right now.

I watch the stock market very closely and I want to explain something: Look at OP position  What is the only stock that isn’t red? #Vale  Why Vale?  Iron ore demand has been extremely low as the Chinese economy has been stagnant  Look at Chinese stocks this past month and look at  Vale they trade in sympathy because the stimulation of their economy directly correlates with increased profits for Vale due to increased demand for iron ore to build new construction  That and a general rebound among undervalued Brazilian stocks is why EWZ is one of my top plays I have made a lot of money on NEM options the past month because of strength in gold but prior to that was down a lot of them if you look a couple months ago when gold declined the miners go hit twice as hard and still haven’t recovered to previous highs so you have to be mindful of the current market sentiment because gold thrives only in times of economic uncertainty

Brazil is basically a political stock right now. Currently on stupid-as-hell low valuations, even for safe stuff like oil companies If it comes clear that the right will win again next time it will likely come back to the valuations before the current government (about x2), in the meantime, they have massive div yields (e.g. EWZ has 8% right now) I wouldnt place too much money on them but i bought enough to make EWZ 4% of my portfolio on the last dip Same happened to argentina when milei won, ARGT increased 50% on his first year of govt

because you can't trade it... [https://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=EWZ&p=d](https://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=EWZ&p=d) Second point: The liquidity shortage among Brazilian and global retail investors is real. Sooner or later, retail investors will either be liquidated or see their holdings become worthless. Lack of liquidity, higher risk exposure compared to hedge funds, limited time, impatience—all of this ultimately leads to zero value.

I've often thought the same thing, and your conclusion will even get stronger over the years (that US-dominated multinational companies will be benefactors of "international growth"). ETF's are OK but they're almost always in some kleptocratic bureaucratic companies that were de-nationalized like petrochemicals or banks. For instance, look at the top holdings of EWZ. It's all petro/old bank garbage with the exception of NU. You could have bought just NU by simply following what Buffett does. The "but you must invest in international markets to diversify" mantra doesn't hold us much water now as it did 20 years ago (when intl outperformed US for a hot minute). The large US players are truly huge and their reach, and thus profits, are much larger now than ever.

VALE revenue is mostly dollars, costs mostly Brazilian Real, and debt is a small enough size to be a non-issue even if denominated in USD. So why is a currency sell-off that big a deal to Vale, in fact could it even be an advantage? Btw, that currency / geopolitical risk is why I'm not just going long Brazil via $EWZ or something. I'm not actually that optimistic about Brazilian governance or its economy. Just think Vale is very cheap and fairly insulated from currency fluctuations (correct me if I'm wrong on that).

My thoughts too. Rates are still historically very high and rate sensitize stuff has really been popping, I’m actually building an XBI (biotech) short with LABD. For longs, Brazil is cheap with huge divs, VALE, RIO, EWZ. I like S. Korea and Mexico here too.

r/stocksSee Comment

We’ve already seen a lot of bounce off the falling rates sentiment, I just started building a quant short strategy with LABD, on this premise. Wait for the dip in these sectors (XBI for small cap biotech or LABU for real juice, REITs, TLT, etc) and buy in. For now the rates sentiment hasn’t really saved S. America, so RIO, VALE, EWZ, low prices and huge divs will draw back investors. S. Korea too for international, so EWY. Good luck and if you want to be a rotate your portfolio guy, remember to rotate your portfolio out too!
