Currently holding a bag cause I held on for too long also thinking about tax paid. Bought MVST dec 2024 2.76 avg and it peaked at nov 2025 at 6.28, then slowly kept dropping. I kept holding past the 12 month period in hopes that it would come back to the highs and now it is at 1.48 below my average cost.

I don't do options, only stocks and etfs, only with money I can lose which helps me keep my conviction up and hold through downturns, I might do some margin if I have some money coming in soon and there is a dip that can be explained by panic selling over geopolitics. I have gotten lucky with some picks such as IONQ ( was in at 6 but sold off at 40 because I could not see why the valuation was so high) and Joby (sold this at around 17 after holding for a couple years with an average of 7, recently bought back in) and POET, which I had taken some profit and sold out still with some gains after the crash in April. For pre revenue stock picks like these I usually read a lot into what the company is doing, how well they are funded and what partners they might have. I did swing trade some like RCAT and MVST but I prefer to go into things I feel comfortable holding for a year at least.

check out MVST. completely vertically integrated from precursor to battery systems, both commercial and stationary. FLNC is more of an integrator resulting in poor margins. MVST hovers around 35%+ which is the highest in the space. Incredibly undervalued.

I agree this movement is a sign of a squeeze. For those who don’t know, QS is on a mission to revolutionize energy storage by commercializing solid state lithium batteries. It popped up 9.5% today (5/6/26) on mostly average volume, while 20% of the float is shorted. It’s down 25% YTD but up 29% in the last month. Corning also went up over 12% today with their $500 million dollar deal announcement with Nvidia and their annual investor day, where Corning went into depth on their Springboard plan and raised targets into 2030. QS and Corning are engaged in a strategic partnership focused on high-volume manufacturing of ceramic separators, the most critical component of QuantumScape's solid-state batteries, since fall of 2025. QS was also mentioned as part of Corning’s investor day today. The agenda included sessions from 11:00 am to noon today hosted by Corning business leaders and SMEs, which showcased Corning's Ribbon Ceramics as the foundational technology for QuantumScape's solid-state battery separators. Recently, QS crossed the MACD threshold (5, 20 and 50 day moving average). This is all while being down 25% down YTD today, with 6.3 days to cover for the shorts. I would not be surprised at all if QS continues to go up soon and fast. The fact that there are 6.3 days to cover but volume is not too high indicates the remaining shorts can’t exit too quickly, creating a constant floor of buying pressure. The pop in stock price today was not part of an overall rise in the battery industry, as indicated by Solid Power (SLDP) dropping 5%, Enovix (ENVX) dropping 3%, and Microvast (MVST) breaking even today. Also, PowerCo, the Volkswagen-owned battery company, just posted yesterday about their Unified Cell #1 featured in their new ID Polo, which will be compatible with a QS solid state battery in the future. Volkswagen has been working with QS for years and it’s just a matter of when, not if, they are producing cars with QS solid state batteries. Lot of good news catalysts recently for QS, but it’s still heavily shorted at the moment. Although they are a pre-revenue company still, other positive news include a recent Q1 earnings beat, improved production with their recently inaugurated AI enhanced Eagle Line production line in San Jose, CA, $11 million in confirmed customer billings for Q1 2026 (which is outpacing 2025 by a wide margin), possessing close to $1 billion in liquidity, and multiple JDAs with top 10 automotive OEMs (announced with Volkswagen but unannounced with the others, although high potential candidates include Honda and Ford). This is not to mention the fact they brought in 2 new executives with ties to the defense industry to the board, Ross Niebergall, defense sector executive who most recently served as President of Aerojet Rocketdyne and Chief Technology Officer at L3Harris, and Dr. Mark Maybury, a former U.S. Air Force Chief Scientist and Lockheed Martin executive. They also brought in Geoff Ribar to the board this year, who is a former Nvidia CFO in their early growth phase in the 2010s and has over 40 years of experience in tech and semiconductors. Siva Sivaram, the CEO, has expressed multiple times since the Q1 earning call two weeks ago that they are entering new markets like AI data centers, aerospace, drones, and defense. Obviously, this is a speculative play, but the recent price action and news are indicating huge potential.

Honestly, I wouldn't expect the good parts of the report to positively impact the stock price *this week*. If anything, I think the high volume on options going into earnings could result in either the price being pinned around the current range, or maybe even a slight squeeze up towards EOW (for the hedges to sell off their calls and/or short from higher up). Personally, I think it looks like 2H 2026 will be where momentum is back on our side, with the July deadline on the Clenera lawsuit being a possible pivot point. So, for me, it's between exiting the position now to look for re-entry when the conditions are more favorable, OR hope the stock finds a floor quickly (could see institutions step in to accumulate between $1 and current prices) and average down once we see new support levels. Just to add, I think the gross margin falling to 1% from 36% looked worse than the revenue miss. And it looks like the gross margin would have been 31% for the quarter if it wasn't for a $28mil impairment charge on inventory. I don't know the nature of the impairment charge, but it does seem like MVST was blindsided by this after raising their own guidance on gross margin mid-year. So all in all, I wouldn't bet on much positive price movement in the short term. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if it settled upwards in the 2-2.20 range after this initial fall has exhausted itself. However, I think EOY and 2027 looks much brighter, barring any set backs. Best of luck to you on your investments tho.
