You are in no position to be investing, much less dollar cost averaging. But I know what sub I’m on, you know what I think you should do? Switch to paper trading. Literally, I know it’s fake money and it feels stupid, but challenge yourself. Wipe whatever fake million they give you and start with 15k again. The reason I say this is because it’s very easy to throw down 100k in fake money on a stock, see a +20K gain a few days later and think “I’m good, I just need to size up”. Remember the 90-90-90 rule. 90% of retail investors lose 90% of their money within the first 90 days. Here on WSB, you see all the gainz and that’s it. You don’t see the bag holders - you don’t see what happens when a trendy stock on here gets fucked. I’ll list a few for you now. LDI, BYND, UAMY, POET, META recently (lol), ONDS, BBAI, BULL, POOL. These are all stocks that were at one point “hot” on WSB. All of these have absolutely sharted. You paid tuition to the market gods. We all have. I lost $6K playing earnings on a company who beat and raised but the stock tanked anyway. Tuition. Never play earnings. An expensive lesson. Pay your tuition in fake money first, then reload. Save your money. Keep working. Dollar cost average into your own bank account for awhile.
Not using electricity like UNH, POOL, CVX, and LEN. He did get pumped and dumped by ULTA lol
is $POOL a good price to enter? Lowest since May 2020
Dude(s), opportunities like paramount, Kraft-Heinz, Sirius, Dominoes, and POOL don't come along every day.
I'm a pool pro that buys at Leslie's, but less lately. Pro side is locations and hours versus wholesalers. Con is reduced inventory, staffing and especially pricing. POOL eating their lunch with Pro's. Initiatives often not well thought out and then disappear. Store level management good, higher levels are just out of college without a clue. Significant staff churn. Hourly mentality where it used to feel like managers were owners. Seems like they don't have the guts to make the cuts to survive, or maybe they can't get out of leases without CH11. Have many stores that are dead wood, even here in Las Vegas. Need to cut or the whole thing goes down IMO. Definitely at risk, but a little protected since many pool chemicals are hard to ship and some parts pretty specialized. Risk increases as they reduce inventory. If they don't have what I need being open weekends isn't an advantage.
It's a real headscratcher (and so was Sirius Radio, Paramount, and POOL).

Why is the market pumping UNH and dumping POOL? Didn't Buffett buy both?

I'm curious about the POOL holding. Not what one would expect if the world is coming to an end.
Maybe it’s for total amount invested in this quarter? Coz they bought POOL too
Ah yes, the safest of safeties during stagflation, $POOL supplies.
Looking at the other holdings, guy increased his POOL shares by 135%. Maybe this is a good play? (side note dude is like majority owner of SIRI)
Time to load up on Sirius, POOL, Paramount, and KHC.
POOL - made a lot of money on it in the very early days but wish I held it forever
He should have held Wells Fargo, IBM, TSM, Citi, and a few others for longer. He has had a lot of misses recently, maybe he should have put more into S&P 500 index funds rather than POOL, Sirius, etc.
we only know up to march 30th. they dumped all their VOO and SPY by then, and started buying new small positions like POOL and STZ but the next one will be the really juicy one
POOL stock is pretty undervalued. Berkshire bought at \~$350. Actual good company. Industry leader. Earnings currently in a slump.
There's a few covid high flyers that are vaguely interesting. ZM is at like 14x FCF and just shredding their share count. POOL is also trying to find some some support here.
FANG and POOL paid off for me for a while. During pandemic it hit $30 or so, rode it up to $150. Bought on the huge POOL drop last year and sold in the $355 range.

Nobody except Berkshire insiders can answer why. However, I can tell you they increased their positions on various other companies. In the link I provided, you can see that Berkshire increased their positions on DPZ, POOL, SIRI, OXY, and VRSN. The total proceeds from SPY and VOO are less than the value of positions they took on those companies. As a company that invests in other businesses (amongst other purposes,) I don’t think it makes sense for them to own broad based index funds. Index funds like SPY and VOO charge fees (their expense ratio.) They manage their own portfolio as part of their business operation. If they wanted to own 12M worth of the top 500 American companies by market cap, they would buy the companies directly.
I've been in and out of PWRMF (Power Metals). Can you find any articles that apply some type of fundamental analysis to justify the current price (\~$1/sh). Problem is that, somehow the world has been moving along just fine without having a primary active cesium mine. While cesium is expensive, it also has expensive transport / storage costs etc CURRENTLY A LIMITED POOL of buyers. Are we to guess is that the hope is that more buyers will appear as it becomes more available? Several industries can use it but I don't know enough to say which (other than perhaps oil drillers and guided missile manufacturers) will having growing demand. Note: somehow oil drillers and guided missile manufacturers were able to sustain operations even before this cesium deposit was discovered. ...My understanding is that part of the reason for that is that although at times the price is high, when volume is involved, the price can significantly drop. NOT trying to be a Debbie Downer. Eventually banks / institutional owners will have to figure out valuations. Retailers seem to have run the price up kind of fast (3-4x in just a few months). 144,700,000 shares are issued / outstanding. Is the company going to generate $144,700,000 over the next 3 - 5 years? I can't find evidence that the cesium market is currently that big. I'm gathering that buyers typically only need trace amounts of cesium in each product. Ie - a kilogram or pound could go a long way. No updates to financial statements since Feb 2021! See: [https://powermetalscorp.com/investors/financial-statements/](https://powermetalscorp.com/investors/financial-statements/) I've owned small miners before and things can get tricky - especially for retail / minority shareholders. It would be easy for new larger / controlling investors / preferred share issuance, private warrants, and/or the lack of clarity of the cesium market to significantly slow momentum. Eg - if Ukraine war ends, missile orders might slow over the next few years. NOT saying it's a bad stock. Just wish there were more fundamental reasons and analysis to justify the run up (which more and more appears based on emotion and geo-political events that could reverse rather quickly). If you find any articles that address these issues, please post links.
He's only a billionaire because he's 94 and he's been investing since the end of the great depression in the 1940s The new positions should be: NVIDIA AMAZON MICROSOFT GOOGLE SMCI TSM not POOL :) https://preview.redd.it/r1zq9qd7fdme1.png?width=1380&format=png&auto=webp&s=a77352eda005b41401dd24190620996b83e638d4
No wonder he heavily invested in POOL and Dominos
Buffett bought POOL and Dominos Pizza. He must be watching too much porn. Especially those where the pizza guy and pool guy fuck a milf. LMAO
that's why he's got the POOL allo
The new generation take their old american car which consum a lot of petrol from OXY, to go to the party where there is a pool made by POOL and they can eat some Dominos Pizza, and drink alcohol from Constallation Brand. Buffet know how young american consume.
But he also bought POOL, that's the opposite play, no?
wait wait wait...does POOL make above ground pools? cheap pizza, above gound pools and corona? Buffet getting ready for the big one!
all of VOO all of SPY. that seems crazy. And that SIRI buy. How is xm even is business? I thought SPOT AAPL and YT killed them already. ULTA, didnt undersrand the buy in the first place. DPZ and POOL seem like hopium in higher-for-longer environment. No infrastructure buys?
It’s doesn’t make that sense that he exited those and bought 190k shares of POOL. Pool supplies are the last thing people buy when shit goes down. So many green pools during the Great Recession. I owned a pool store. 🤣🥸
Don’t worry guys - Musk is going to stop government excess and return your hard earned tax payer money. The economy will be gangbusters. Hello everyone, a short question to you all here, do you consider emerging markets like Poland a good opportunity to invest right now? Especially when you see companies like Berkshire invest in small cap stocks like DPZ and POOL? I'm thinking of starting some positions in Dino Polska, InPost and Text SA (LiveChat and Chatbot software) - whte are your ideas on this, as according to my FCFF valuations - they are undervalued, I also made my own VSO charts (versus others) that show the financial efficiency of those companies as well as financial health (net equity in the form of cubes that show the proportional balance between the metrics) - **bear in mind that they show all values in $, and not PLN or EUR in some cases**, so please take that into consideration, I'm working on it! :) I'm a programmer, and I **made them myself**
How has AAPL done in comparison to KHC, POOL, Dominos, and Sirius since Buffett decided the latter looked like better buying opportunities?
Buffett was a living clinic in finance during the 2008 recession. I kept waiting for that genius in late 2022 and 2023 ... still waiting. Sirius? Are you kidding me? POOL and Dominos ae both down, too, while Apple and those bank stocks he sold are up 10-20%. I closed a six figure position in Berkshire a few weeks ago and I wish I had done it right after they said no stock buybacks this year. The most confusing thing is that Buffett is breaking his own rules. Look at his comments regarding cash stockpiling over the years and look at KHC ... he swore he'd never work with vulture/venture capitalists, he did, and it sure looks like a terrible investment. What's the plan over there? Hoard an ever-growing cash pile at treasury rates?
I've done some contract work with Yahoo Finance and: \-Freeport McMoRan (FCX), they have huge copper/gold reserves. If shit pops off with EVs, copper is gonna be in huge demand. \-Pool Corp (POOL)- I think Buffett is banking on global warming being particularly heinous, which is why he bought so much of this stock. Idk about Domino's tho
HONESTLY SPEAKING... ACHR IS ONE OF THE MOST SOLID WELL RUN TECH COMPANIES IVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF RESEARCHING. THEIR MANAGEMENT AND TALENT POOL IS DEEP AF. THEIR INDUSTRY PARTNERS ARE THE MOST POWERFUL ON THE PLANET... LITERALLY. ACHR $500+
BRK just loaded up on POOL It seems a good industry to be in
“He” or his team invested 0.06% of his total stock holdings into POOL. let’s put that into perspective. His stock portfolio is $266B. His cash position is $325B. The other companies BRK owns is valued at $400B. So in total, Warren has a 0.015% position in POOL. If you took your entire portfolio of $100K and invested 0.015% in POOL, you would have $15 invested in it.
Yup. And by a large share of the market, borderline monopoly. They're a well-oiled machine with some fantastic processes. Pay like shit though. Source: used to work for POOL.
Buffet just got a large position in DPZ and POOL , lots of cash yeah but if they are expecting a huge crash you don’t buy DPZ and POOL at any price
My guess is that Buffett believes we are going to see some form of Recession after Trump takes office. People tend to gravitate towards affordable comfort foods during that time. If a recession doesn't happen then DPZ keeps doing what it's been doing which is go up and pay him a dividend. Seems to be more defensive than anything else in my opinion. POOL is interesting since pools themselves are not a necessity but I think people who have pools tend to be more well off so they keep paying someone to do their pool maintenance which those people would most likely use products from POOLS. Think this is just going back to what Buffett understands.
My guess it is one of his lieutenants, not Warren, Warren only get involved in big deals. If you see them buy a lot more Warren was involved. I was more interested in their POOL accumulation as BKR has numerous real estate (ie. home builders, DYI related business). I suspect they are seeing something in a coming home market boom.
Semiconductor investors up 4,000% prior to 2022 when the technology was still in its obscure, infancy stage with little usage: "Well, according to my analysis of the DPGs and PPIs, we may have another 22,000% to run here over the next 15 years!" Semiconductor investors today, getting sold off on day after day even though there's more EVs on the road than ever before: "OH WHO GIVES A SHIT ITS ALL MANIPULATED BY DARK POOL GARBAGE ANYWAYS!!"
POOL, SMG, RUN are usually temporarily picked up by hedge funds during the summer for swing momentum.
fully convinced this is straight up DARK POOL manipulating the market.
Shrek: I WAS IN THE POOL!
Guys are missing $POOL big short in it
Uh no you cant. Its never happened since data started late 19th century. A decade has always been enough and no matter what, $VTI or $VOO will outperform over the long run. What people miss is that they soon realize they have zero right to complain if passive / lazy investing isnt just cutting it anymore. I mean in the last week $POOL has beat the most aggressive annualized SPY estimate over 10 years. We all knew this, just like we knew small caps would be a 5% intramonth payday. Dude you are playing checkers. We are playing chess
I would consider buying shares or LEAPS after earnings based on guidance and reaction. I need to do more DD, but have seen POOL mentioned often in the past few years. I could use some non-tech diversification.
They all took a hit because of POOL
Any of you short POOL?
**How should I re-allocate my 401k if I believe the market will decline in the 2nd half of the year?** I put 1/3 of my 401k in FID GROWTH CO POOL A in the start of the year, and I'm happy with the upside. The remainder of my funds were with VANGUARD TARGET 2055 which has underperformed the market. Regardless, I see a decline in the 2nd have of the year - **what's a more conservative approach I could take?** 100% back into VANGUARD TARGET 2055? Bonds fund, money market fund, etc.? Thanks!
No it goes thru the LIGHT POOL , with Luke Skywalker , lighting it up. NEVER DO MARKET ORDERS, ALWAYS WORK SPREADS, Actually cancel replace is best since the spread is one order stays at where it was first sent (Arca,ISE.etc) so just cancel replace at the same price can get you filled.
$POOL volume today steady at 26k daily average. Cannonball options soaring. Bullish on great week of weather.
Imagine thinking you are smart enough to have this all figured out and then you call it a RUG POOL
I'm in fidelity and have 401k in FID GR CO POOL CL F and my rate of return says YTD 16.41% and my one year says 41.88%.
IT WAS IN THE POOL!
Bro who is out here trading POOL? I sometime type in random letters and see stocks like this with thousands in open interest on their option.
I would stay far away from the car industry. Unpredictable. I would invest into something like $POOL, $SPGI, $DIS(currently more risky and unpredictable out of the 3). Ngl, stock picking is a losing game especially if you aren’t familiar with valuations. Do some paper funds while investing into VOO for a year or 2. Once you see correlations with stock price and fundamentals I think you would have a chance.
can't wait to start seeing the "NAKED HEDGIE SHORTS STILL HAVEN'T COVERED" and "DARK POOL" and "RELEASE THE REAL SHARE COUNT" posts from the >$1000 SMCI bagholders.
Buying POOL stock in 2001 and letting it grow to 2020. Made a ton of money.
Did my yearly portfolio cleanup not too long ago. Top five right now, Total weighting of 30%, are NTDOY, TSM, CP, CCOEY, POOL
$POOL’s been a good buy since the 90s
Covid launched $POOL into the stratosphere but is it sustainable?
Roper technologies is one I watch, as mentioned below. ODFL, CPRT, HEI, are good, but not cheap. BRO is a great roll up of insurance brokers that's reasonable. I own HWKN too. They're not as proven so it's cheaper. They're buying water treatment chemical companies. POOL is another. TSCO and SBUX have implemented things well, but are pretty large now. IESC and is solid. MEDP is another I own that is great at allocating capital. Really look for companies with high ROIC and look how they're generating those returns.

The funny thing is this is intended to show how POOL has created more value than SHOP, and yet the market is rewarded SHOP holders with more than 2X the return of POOL holders over the same time frame. This also kind of glosses over the impact of mark to market accounting, where SHOP recorded heavy expenses in 2022 due to the downturn in other growth companies it had invested in. It’s what really drove the major swing in bottom line from 21 to 22, but really has no impact on the core operations of the business and can mislead analysis like this.
