I double checked my statement about compounding interest, and it turns out that 48 states teach it before you leave high school in the required curriculum, AK and WY are the exception. If you expand it more broadly to personal finance, 45 states teach it by default by the end of high school. Just because you don't remember it doesn't mean it isn't taught or wasn't made available to you at some point. Nobody gate-kept compounding interest behind a paywall or something, it's just something that is kind of boring until you later learn other pieces that make it more valuable to you. I'd equate it to how kids hate getting socks or underwear for gifts for the holidays or birthdays, but by the time people hit their late 20s or early 30s they will have inevitably gone out to the mall one day and got excited about finding a nice pair of socks or underwear and had the money to buy it. It doesn't mean you've gotten more boring that now you think socks are interesting, but instead you will have had enough experience to understand the value of cushy socks for a day of hard work, that you otherwise wouldn't have had as a child.
My sister lives in Laramie, WY and they use Starlink because its bette, faster, and cheaper than the local choices which are not good. Star link's potential is not just in the retail rural market but the millions and millions of cars on the road running on cell towers is a huge market. Starlink will provide better connectivity and could be cheaper for car makers. There are also military applications that we are not aware of and those defense contracts are very profitable. I am not a fan of Elon, I am not a 'fan boy." But, as much as a crazy fucking asshole that he is, he gets its done. I remember in 2011 or so when Tesla went public everyone said it can't be done, they will never make it work, they're burning money, etc, and yet all that investment (burning money) led to the Model Y being the best selling car in the world, and, Tesla dominating the charging market and the EV market now, 15 years later. For the moment, they had over 10 million customers and it makes 11 billion a year. Their profit margin is very high, close to 60%. Only 1,000 companies in the world do 11 billion a year in business. The you have that "no one uses" it us just not true. Take the emotion out. Take the Elon out and just look at facts and then you can have an intelligent conversation.

Bloom Energy (BE) ↓ – Stock down -4% pre-market after datacenter developer Crusoe announced their datacenter project in Wyoming (Project Jade) is being paused, with no details provided. BE is providing 900MW of fuel cells for the project, with other Aeroderivative power products also being provided. Public opposition against datacenters in WY has been building, with City Council in Cheyenne delaying projects to establish their own development protocols. Microsoft (MSFT) has been active in the region buying land for datacenter development as well. Our analyst Chris Dendrinos is NEUTRAL on the news, noting BE’s fuel cells are a solution to community pushback as they use no water, have limited noise, and have a cleaner emissions profile. \*RBC Trading: BE stock could see Bears circle more heavily with this the 2nd datacenter project in a few weeks that is being delayed (Project Jupiter last week), and BE stock up +90% since April on a big customer order win. The news of delays could also be an incremental negative today for other Datacenter power alternative producers GEV/CAT/FTAI. \*Bulls defended BE’s Project Jupiter delays as incremental negatives (developer is implementing workarounds), BE’s product part of the solution to avoid datacenters tapping into power grids, more customer wins coming as Datacenter capex is set to increase in 2027+, and BE stock is in many Semi’s baskets (i.e. don’t fight the Datacenter/hardware trend). \*Bears cite near-term delays that will slow/decelerate growth, the stock already pricing-in BE’s announced expansion to 5GW, the stock sensitive to trimming/rotation out of the overcrowded AI/Datacenter trade, and a high valuation that makes it harder for Bulls to defend (98x 2026 EBITDA).
True, most coal is from the Powder River Basin. Texas had some coal production, but most closed and the plants moved to WY coal. The problem is coal is an expensive baseline power generation. You can either just do Nat Gas or move to Nukes. Coal just doesn't compete economically with Nukes and is too slow as compared to Nat Gas.
Ah yes, because quickly misreading WY as WV means you’re retarded.
Coal production in Appalachia is mostly artisanal now. There is still some demand for anthracite for factory direct usage but most coal demand left the underground mines and is now strip mined out of Powder Basin in Wyoming now. 1 person in WY can harvest more coal than 100 in WV by just scraping it up by the dump truck load. They sell it for $15/ton and Warren Buffet charges $40/ton to bring it by rail to a power plant.
Funny part is (as a WV resident) is that this will likely do nothing for the industry here. Likely will lead to even more WY coal being mined lol

UEC is cheap & is expanding here in WY & abroad. I should have bought at 10$ instead of 15$, but I’m in for the long haul since I know someone who works there. They recently (year or two ago) started ramping up production with a new field about to be up and running. They use a much cleaner method of mining that doesn’t ruin the environment (such as Russia’s method). Their competitor running 120$/stock (CCJ).
I mean like 50 years down the road that's proven untrue. WY gets purchased on teh cheap by Walmart, iirc. WY was just the largest tech company due to finding the Predator tech which is also why they sought the xenomorph so badly. But as anyone with common sense could tell you....there's ZERO money in those mouth raping acid bleeding bugs....SO they bankrupted themselves. Now Blade Runner....Blade Runner is 100% coming to pass.

Bought 900 WY options at different strikes. I was convinced all in. Within 3 weeks I was down $120k. Sold when I was down $60k. Then proceeded to watch it skyrocket. If I would have diamond handed it. I would have been up $300k. Decided no more option full ports.

It's gut wrenching seeing a position tank after you buy it and then rocket right after. Bought 600 WY $21 1/16 calls at $2.40 each. Sold them bad boys a some different strikes for a $50,000 loss. Today I look. If I would have diamond handed it, I would have been up roughly $240,000. My current port is $150k. I am fool.

Teton County, WY surprise surprise lol.
I can’t comment on CASY but you’ve piqued my interest. WY on the other hand. I don’t think the housing market will mysteriously boom because of a quarter or even half a point interest rate deduction. Too many other factors go into the decision to buy a house. Primarily, having a job and there seems to be a lot of uncertainty at the time. Not to mention, cost of living and a seemingly over inflated house market. Obviously I could be wrong but even just uncertainty has a lot of influence on house-holding.
I own several of these. And agree 100% on CASY - one of my best longterm holdings. They’re near-flawless executors. But disagree just as strongly on WY - one of my worst longterm holdings. If you look at a chart of 1-year, 5-year, 10-year ….its the same chart. I’ll never understand why but they still have no control over their pricing.

No. Not that bad. Need to pull more out not less. WY and Tariffs are pulling cash out but not enough. Our system needs a recession to bring deflation and most importantly reset the housing market. It has to happen and will happen. Just been needing the job market to crack...and it is starting.

Really easy to look into LCOS as well. When you combine wind/solar and energy storage, it's still cheaper than building a new thermal power plant. There's tons of uses / locations where a thermal power plant is ideal. There's also tons of opportunity to use renewables and store the excess as chemical electrical, thermal or gravity. We're all familiar with batteries - and there's some really cool stuff happening there. Think whole EV batteries (move as a pallet) that are pulled from cars as they no longer give the desired max current - they're perfect for 4 hour discharge and then 4-12 hour charge. That's ignoring the developments in lithium iron and sodium iron batteries. Sodium Iron batteries don't get the density of lithium, but for grid based storage - who cares? Two of the most abundant elements... You can also heat a thermal battery - and I'm talking utility scale size - to take excess heat from burning carbon OR concentrating sun OR make heat from excess electrical production. You can then use the GWh of stored thermal energy to run the thermal power plant in the same way it normally runs, but without firing up the boiler. 'transmission cost to the grid' is laughable. Large power plants that supply 3GW or more tend to also require a lot of transmission to move that energy to a major metro. Bumblefrak doesn't usually need that much power on its own and no one loves living next to a giant power plant. As we have literally tens of thousands of square miles near existing grid transmission systems, it seems pretty easy to start locating renewables along those lines. Freakin TX and WY are the leaders in wind energy and you can't possibly tell me there's nowhere near a big power line you can put solar panels and batteries. Not like they couldn't find a way to get the power from WY to actual demand. Here's a gravity battery that can hold 24GWh of potential energy and release it as needed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_County_Pumped_Storage_Station The ELI5 is basically two lakes, one higher than the other, and a pump/generator. It's been in operation for 40 years, puts out zero to as much as 500MW. It costs half as much as a 'small' utility scale nuclear reactor and it's been a crazy-simple battery since the reagan era. Also, why the hate on reasonably planned peaker plants? I regularly walk in a park next to a peaker plant with two gas turbines (shaft gen and steam gen) that achieve WAY higher thermal efficiency than merely 33% in a normal thermal power plant (such as nuclear).
WY. With the cocaine boats exploding, and tariffs on everything from overseas, people are gonna be sitting at home with no drugs, bickering and realizing they should stop spending money on expensive Chinese trinkets delivered by flying robots and just build their own house. They will need 2x4s.

Every politician gets rich in office. And yes it’s from insider trading and corruption. It’s republicans, it’s democrats. It’s a massive problem. And chances are whoever you vote for will get rich in office. This is the problem folks. Source: Forbes, Open secret. Barack Obama: (9.4X) net worth was approximately $1.3 million when he entered the presidency in 2009. By the time he left office in January 2017, it had grown to an estimated $12.2 million, according to Fortune. George W. Bush (2X): As the 43rd President from 2001 to 2009, his net worth reportedly rose from approximately $20 million to $40 million during his time in office, largely from investments and other income sources. Nancy Pelosi (5.6X): As a long-serving member of Congress and former House Speaker, her net worth reportedly rose by approximately $140 million since 2008, largely from investments in tech stocks and real estate held by her husband. Recent estimates place her current net worth at over $250 million. Ted Cruz (R-TX): As a Senator since 2013, he saw an 82.5% net worth increase in his first year (2011-2012 disclosures), and more recently earned over $100,000 from book royalties in 2023 alone. Dick Cheney (R-WY): As Vice President from 2001 to 2009, his net worth reportedly rose from approximately $20-50 million before taking office to between $20 million and $100 million by 2008, largely from investments, stock options, and deferred compensation from his prior role at Halliburton Ted Cruz (1.8x): As a Senator since 2013, he saw an 82.5% net worth increase in his first year (2011-2012 disclosures), and more recently earned over $100,000 from book royalties in 2023 alone. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL): In the House from 2011 to 2023, he experienced a 633.9% net worth increase from 2009 to 2012 Marc Veasey (10.9X): As a freshman in the 113th Congress (2013-2015), his net worth increased by 994% over his first term, though specific reasons aren’t detailed in disclosures. Now let’s compare Trump. Donald Trump 0.66x (R-FL): As the 45th President from 2017 to 2021, his net worth reportedly fell from approximately $3.5 billion to $2.3 billion during his first term, largely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on his real estate and hospitality businesses. Recent estimates place his current net worth at around $7.3 billion And here’s the winner. Mostly because she was broke when she got into office. But mathematically here’s the goat. Ilhan Omar (36X): As a U.S. Representative since 2019, her net worth, combined with her husband Tim Mynett, reportedly grew from approximately -$45,000 in 2019 to between $6 million and $30 million by 2024, a potential increase of up to 3,500%. This growth is largely attributed to her husband’s consulting firms, which earned significant fees from political campaigns, including hers.

I took my biggest position last week ever. 1,600 8/15 WY call options. Next day the market moved against me and I was down close to $45k. I got to thinking it would have been nice to pay that towards the house. Few days later it rebounded. I cashed out plus $5k and started the process of moving the money to my bank that has the mortgage.
The Ramaco deposits are along the Tongue river near Ranchester, WY. There's easy access to I-90 and to a major rail line, and there's a decent sized (for Wyoming) town about ten minutes south along I-90. Sheridan's got most services someone might want and it's a nice place to live. Wyoming also has a MUCH easier regulatory climate than California does - the biggest barrier to expansion is honestly going to be securing mineral rights from the ranchers. Contrast that to MP's mine. It's right along I-15, but has no access to a rail line meaning higher transport costs or having to process on site. There's no available housing short of Baker and realistically Barstow or Vegas, so you have to set up dormitories for your workforce and pay hardship rates. And despite being in the middle of nowhere, you're still in California which means any meaningful expansion is going to require six separate environmental impact statements and a Prop 65 warning about how Neodymium is known to the state of Cancer to cause California. Ramaco's got a lot of catching up to do, but they certainly found a good spot to start doing it from.
Cheyenne, WY has 2 under construction right now with 6 more to be completed by 2030
This BBB drama is really interesting. I'm assuming Scott and Lee are just trying to extract concessions and will get on board. I don't know about Sen Lummis. Lee wants the federal land sales. But there has been talk of an amendment to strip it once the vote-a-rama begins. Lummis is from WY, so maybe she's on the other side of that? That could be a problem because they can't placate them both. Scott is in the Ron Johnson camp, he just wants deeper cuts. That's a problem in the senate, but a bigger problem once the bill gets back to the house I think. Already bands of moderates threatening to vote against in the house because of current medicaid/snap cut levels. If Scott gets concessions that's going to make speaker Johnson's job even harder. This is some quality weekend legislative drama.

What I "think" about a stock almost always comes down to just its chart: how smooth is it, and how much it's going up. AndI think you answered your own question: gold is smoother than the miners, and I know how much it goes up, so I really don't care to look at the miners (though I hold 1 contract because I didn't remember IAU when I was looking for something cheap for some unused cash). But then I wondered why you didn't compare GDX with IAU: both on the same scale of cheapness, but IAU has the smoother gold curve. And then I started wondering about "the numbers" myself, so I ran some. Ready? tldr: IAU is 'better' than GDX. [GDX vs. IAU PMCCs](https://imgur.com/a/HYSjrME) So it's all there if you'll take a minute to digest it, plus this explanation: The 81-delta purchased Calls were both at 575DTE. The 30-delta sold Calls were both at 36DTE. Which was perfect, because it allowed direct comparison without having different deltas. So **GDX** is indeed cheaper than IAU, but the **IAU** long Calls are cheaper. That's because of the higher IV of GDX: 32% vs 17% And of course the sold Premium is less for IAU, and that's also due to the IVs. But look at the ROIs: Sold Premium/Cost - close enough to be called the same. So in all, I think **IAU is cheaper**. At least when playing it as PMCCs. (I like to calculate Leverage too, which is Spot ÷ Long C Premium x Delta. It usually tells you if one ticker will give you better ROI than another.) And then, just to fully address the argument, here's [GDX charted against IAU](https://imgur.com/a/dJzg5WY) for 1 year. And yeah, GDX 'won,' returning 57% to IAU's 42%, but look at the ride getting there! That big up in October, just to slam back down through December. And on a smaller scale, April into May. So there ya go, that's what I think about GDX vs IAU. Thoughts?

>I think democrats will have a super majority. Not a snowballs chance in hell. Nine seats maybe -- and that list has AK, IA, KS, MT, WY, SD, ND, OH, KY. Farm and ranch economies gonna go to shit as the tariff barriers go up. 47 + 9 only gets you to 56 in the Senate. To get super majority you would need to all but run the table as every remaining 11 Republican seats up in '26 in the Confederacy plus the two honorary members of the modern Confederacy -- TX, OK, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, FL, SC, plus WV and ID. They MAY get some northern Republicans to support the Democrats. Republicans locking themselves out of controlling both houses of Congress at the same time for 60 years like they were after Smoot-Hawley? In that 60 year span they only had a House majority three times, they had the Senate four times three of which was riding Reagan's coat tails. That is possible if the Democrats can reverse their rectal cranial political sense inversion.

Yes that's the plan as spelled out in Putin's [Project Russia ](https://washingtonspectator.org/project-russia-reveals-putins-playbook/) >##A Call for Collapse >The books explicitly call for a collapse of the existing order. The authors already believe that the United States is bound to failure, due to the perceived reliance on “printing money,” or US dollar hegemony. Even as a full collapse may be difficult to achieve, they can benefit from any partial destabilization they can induce. >“We believe that a new phase is coming in the development of human society. All will collapse—both Europe and America, and the U.S. dollar. It’s a matter of time. By the way, if the dollar collapses, after that crashes the old world order.”— Yuri Shalyganov (an author of Project Russia) >Russia’s program of hybrid warfare is thus focused on critiquing democracy, driving societal divisions, and promoting Russia’s unique role in the world. This, they believe, will lead to the downfall of the global dollar system. >The capture of the presidency by Putin through his proxies DT and Elon Musk presents a unique opportunity to accelerate destabilization. On January 20, 2025, we will face a barrage of chaotic assaults including potential US debt default, damaging new tariffs, mass firings of federal employees, and catastrophic budget cuts. Their primary target, the dollar, will be assaulted from every angle. >Unfortunately, there is a natural constituency for Putin’s accelerationist agenda in the United States. Elon Musk has mentioned the concept of ‘American Bankruptcy’ no fewer than 25 times since March 2024 — and eight times in November alone. >In addition to Musk and his DOGE colleagues Vivek Ramaswamy and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Ron Paul, Gary North, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), and Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) have all expressed support for terminating the Federal Reserve, and favor new currency models, including cryptocurrencies. >House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has ties to the energy firm American Ethane, and has been backed by Konstantin Nikolaev, a Putin crony and the largest shareholder of American Ethane. Project Russia was authored in part by Mikhail Yuriev, another major shareholder of American Ethane. Nikolaev also provided support for the well-known Russian spy Maria Butina.
Put money into stocks that benefit or are not impacted by tariffs. Trump wants tariffs on Canadian lumber, cool, buy WY. Concrete, for example, needs to be made locally, so MLM is an option.. Note: I own both WY and MLM.

I will fight for my state...so far I like NY, CA, TX, WY, GA, FL...I'm open to other suggestions
$WY (US timberland REIT) up over 4% today on Canada news.
Wonder how my WY and WOOD position hold up
Most of the wood imported from Canada is softwoods (pine primarily) particularly for building projects in the north and west of the U.S, as it is cheaper to import than to truck over from where they are grown primarily in the southeast states. Could make for an interesting pairs trade: long Weyerhauser (WY) - biggest softwood producer in US short West Fraser (WFG) - biggest Canadian softwood producer Tho judging by the stock movements lately some of this is probably already priced in.
