UST-ANC LP staking..... took 45-50k up to 110k and back down to 1.2k... The biggest kick in the dick about it is that I was travelling without my ledger when it spiked up to 110k and had I actually had my ledger with me I would have taken my entire original investment out and been sitting happy, free and clear. Instead, I lost it all.

you shouldn't really think of it as an attack, it was inevitably going to happen. luna's price went up because UST demand went up because ANC yield was 20% - it was a ticking time bomb which made a lot of people a lot of money and rekt people who didn't get out in time.

i did my own research with luna, realized it had a death spiral vulnerability last march and cut my bag around $20. for about a 1.5x - then i did some more research and realized they had VC reserves in ANC to prop up the UST price, bought back in near $12. then it survived the may crash, went in super heavy, because i understood why the price was crashing and that it would stabilize once UST came back to peg. then i began to cut my bags for a huge profit when they started integrating with wonderland/mim, the UST house of cards was too high.

Very simplistic view is that it drains the market cap of LUNAC, UST and ANC and goes to around $2 (on a 1B total supply), putting it around #30 by mcap. Then we have a new coin with a ready made ecosystem but with a huge part of the reason why that ecosystem developed (the UST stablecoin peg) gone. So you would think it would then crater as people sucked out whatever they can salvage from the debacle.... But it could moon.

Exactly this. People are making a lot of false statements about anchor and it being a ponzi without having any clue how the protocol worked. People could deposit coins that earned staking rewards, bonded specifically for anchor, and use those coins to get an over collateralized loan of UST. Depending on what the ratio was of deposits of bassets for loans compared to deposits of UST earning 19.5 % determined whether anchor was building their reserve or dipping into it. At one point borrowing UST was profitable because the APR paid out in ANC token was higher than what you paid to borrow UST. Anchor built up a nice reserve during this time. Eventually there were more deposits of UST than there were of bassets for loans and 19.5% would not be sustainable long-term. Tfl subsidized the 19.5 % through a couple cash injections to compensate for this draining of the reserve. Money did not transfer from new depositers to old depositers. It wasn't a ponzi scheme. People saying that obviously have no idea how anchor or the Terra ecosystem worked, but apparently have a bone to pick with UST, which leads me to believe they invested in Luna/UST without actually knowing the basics of the ecosystem. Anyone that blames Do Kwon or Tfl for all this should have never been invested in Terra to begin with. Y'all obviously invested in something you didn't understand, and now that shit hits the fan it's everyone else's fault except your own. No one forced you to buy Luna, UST, use anchor, etc. It's on you for not knowing the burn/mint mechanism of Luna/UST and the possible consequences of a system like this.

the thing is, there’s an actual company behind a stock, so those returns are pretty much justified with Anchor, they were giving people 20% without having anyone loaning off their platform, what’s funnier was that they were only charging 3% to loaners while giving them free ANC (at a 15% rate) In a sense, they were paying borrowers up to 12% to use their platform and they also gave people 20% to stake with them

yeah honestly that rate should have always been flexible, like on any onther lending protocol. thing is that people only use their crypto as collateral for loans when they believe their value will either stagnate or rise in the near future, nobody wants to do that during bearish times and without enough collateral and borrowers it is impossible to pay such a high fixed rate. not to mention that borrowing is quite expansive if we don't consider the ANC token rewards

Mentions:#ANC

No, it's possible but the chances are so low that it is not a valid reason to switch stable coins. It has so much backing it would quickly recover it's peg if it did lose it. It's 19.5% APY is unsustainable tho. They will probably settle around 13% in the future as that seems sustainable with the levels of borrowers they have. It will be interesting to see what USN does and tries to offer more then ANC.

If you're going to calculate net borrow rate only taking into account the ANC emissions is bit misleading. Here's the actual net rates, depending on what collateral is used: * bLUNA: 11.8% - 6.45% + 6.9% / 0.8 ( max LTV ) = 13.975% * bETH: 11.8% - 6.45% + 3.9% / 0.75 ( max LTV ) = 10.55% Those are at max LTV though. If you look at current total borrow vs current total collateral it's 3 147m & 6 335m making the real LTV 0.497. That means bLUNA comes to 19.23% and bETH 13.2% net rates respectively.

Mentions:#ANC#bLUNA
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

the borrow rate is 11.8% atm. you also get ANC rewards of 6.45%, making the net borrow rate 5.35%. how that compares to other money markets im not sure.

Mentions:#ANC
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Best indication for that would be other money markets but as far as I can tell with quick google search, AAVE for example doesn't allow yield generating collateral so it's not really comparable. That being said I can have some fun with numbers. AAVE currently offers 2.53% yield and 3.55% borrow on USDC and since their collateral is non-yield generating their LTV ratio doesn't come into play. Based on the numbers from my picture Anchor could currently pay 5.74% yield while charging 11.49% - 6.73% ( ANC incentive ) + 7% \* 1.25 ( bLuna LTV 80% ) = 13.51% to borrow. Actual borrow cost is higher though since 80% LTV is the liquidation threshold. More importantly though you can see that if we only focused on the last part of that equation 7% \* 1.25 even if Anchor had nominal borrow cost of 0% borrowers would pay 8.75%, over double that of AAVE, just in forfeited staking rewards. This means Anchor will need to keep incentivising borrowing with ANC token quite heavily. As such we have very much arrived to point where Anchor is comparable to other MM protocols like Compound who uses/used their native token to heavily incentivise adoption. So far in the money markets all roads have lead to Rome.

ANC-UST Liquidity pool (LP) on the anchor protocol that offers 28%APY. I’ve got about 20% here. Also there are FTM-TOMB and FTM-TSHARE LPs on beefy.finance offering 154% and 358% APY, respectively. I’ve got about 20% each in both of those with the rest sittin in BTC. great way to grow your portfolio in this bearish run we are on and will be on for the next few months

Was there some fud about Anchor? ANC token got rekt to 2.10 when it was doing alright before

Mentions:#ANC
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

They do get pretty decent money from loans yes. According to calculations if you drom the interest on UST to 9-11% Anchor would be fully sustainable. But that's also because they are giving ANC incentives for the borrowers meaning the interest the borrowers have to pay is only 4.3%. But since you get the borrow a bunch of UST the borrower can deposit that into ANC essentially meaning Anchor is paying them to borrow. Nexus built a DAPP which does this automatically significantly reducing the liquidation risk. This is still the reason for borrowers to even use Anchor currently. If they just wanted to borrow using crypto AAVE or even Mars/Edge is much better as they have much lower interest rates for borrowing. Until Anchor fixes this reducing the yield would do nothing imo as once the ANC incentives are over borrowers will leave Anchor to much cheaper platforms. Though it looks like the 2.1 Borrow model and the vote escorwed ANC token model will fix this to some extent.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

I think it’s the best investment after BTC & ETH. They’re using BTC as a reserve in addition to LUNA as collateral for their stablecoin UST. They also have well developed DeFi in ANC and ORION. Their payment rails will give you direct access to these dApps. In other words it will be more easily accessible to the general public. It’s high risk - high reward. It’s my biggest holding, but I’m just putting money only into BTC & ETH now.

1. Borrow is around 12% and 7% paid in ANC tokens for around a 5% net interest. I took out a loan against my bLuna to buy more Luna. I think most of the borrowing is done by those wanting leveraged longs on Luna. 2. Deposits are not being used to pay off interest. All interest is paid from yield bearing assets, borrow interest and the reserves. 3. The 20% interest pay out is going to be lowered by 1.5% per month as long as the yield reserve continues shrinking, until a sustainable point is reached.

Mentions:#ANC
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Borrowing rewards are issued in ANC, yes, but the deposit side works differently. You're essentially using your UST to buy aUST, the conversion rate of which is constantly increasing (by 19.5% APR *right now*), so when you want to cash out you can just redeem the aUST for UST (at a higher rate). For the time being, the earning side is mostly funded by the special yield reserve, which has been filled twice now by founder money. Eventually, the plan is to let the platform run entirely on its own, but the protocol is still in an early growth-oriented phase (which is understandable), so they're essentially offering a promotional rate for a while. Adjusting the rate monthly is already on the books. So yeah, the 19% isn't sustainable indefinitely (at least, unless there's a massive swell in borrowing), but I'm still optimistic about this project and throwing money at it.

Mentions:#ANC#UST
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

But they also give you rewards in their ANC token, don't they? In the borrow page they say the bet borrow APR is -5,75% (borrow APR - Rewards). Assuming they make 7% on ALL the backing currency, that's still less than the 19% they are giving on the earn side. What am I missing?
