I actually was in before 2012. I had packed away the drive with the wallet in 2012 when I moved and stopped mining. Box went into a storage unit. Totally forgot about it until 3 moves later in 2019 when I finally bought a house and started unpacking boxes from storage in early 2020. Box full of hard drives and flash drives with an "Oh shit, no way!" realization of what I had found. Dust had become life changing money. Looked at the charts and said to myself, HODL just a little longer.....but I also sold a tiny bit right then to fund a small ETH farm just before GPU prices exploded. No regrets doing that either. So, I was able to diversify into alts before the big run too. Now I've got quite a few bags- some in the green now, some in the red. Doesn't matter, overall, I'm playing with house money now. My advice is this- 1) don't FAFO with the IRS. Pay your taxes on gains. Just expect they're going to want a 30% cut and try to find ways to offset that with paper losses. Take time to learn and understand the rules the whales play by. I love DeFi for this. 2) All or nothing- if it will substantially change your life at that moment, take profit. Don't sell for pizza or weed. 3) The market will swing, and hopefully selling made it easier for you to save for reinvesting when it's down. 4) Do contribute to traditional retirement vehicles like a 401k or ROTH IRA. We wanted institutional adoption, and we got it. I've made a killing on crypto ETFs in my ROTH IRA, and there are several that return dividends. That's tax-free money when I retire, and the goal is passive income. 5) Diversify and definitely invest in physical assets- gold and silver are great, but I also recommend lead, brass, and steel. Buy land and homestead it.
The trap was that the shitcoins gave real good ROI, even better than BTC. Until it didn't and crashed. FAFO for real I got too greedy. Now I just sit back and enjoy all these 'crashes' that still is above 100k.

Everything you said was on point until you said bear market dates. Not sure if you are aware of the changes in adoption with bitcoin, however there is likely too much adoption at this point, too many big players (nations and businesses) for us to hit a traditional bear market we've seen in prior cycles. I wouldn't sit on the sidelines waiting for such an event. Timing the market works for no one except for the occasional lotto winner. You need to be aggressively stacking as much as you can before its too late. What do i mean by too late? I don't know why so many people are blind to this fact, perhaps its because nobody is used to dealing with a truly finite asset. But what you need to understand is Bitcoin has 2 major "eras" throughout its 140 year halving cycle. We are currently in the first era. The first era is BEFORE the first supply shock occurs. We have already moved out of the point in bitcoin's history where Bitcoin is "Abundant". We are now in a moment in time where Bitcoin is on a downward movement in its supply on exchanges, while demand is climbing. The moment we reach the point where demand outstrips supply, we will permanently move into the 2nd and last era in the 140 year bitcoin halving schedule.. Supply shock. The 2nd era will be rife with constant supply shocks, periods of panic as people are unable to get the amounts of btc they want at the prices they want, and they give up on those prices and accept higher prices because supply is so limited. This period will be an exponential growth period for the marketcap. This era is looming, and may get here sooner than you are ready for if you FAFO (fuck around and find out). In 2036, the final 1% of btc will take the remainder of the 140 year halving schedule to mine. It will be an abrupt reduction in available supply. The truth is, we will likely hit supply shock before 2036 due to growing demand. So don't sit on the sidelines, trying to cherry pick moments to jump in the market. This isn't a stock, this is an engineered monetary asset made to be the scarcest thing on the planet (other than your time). Don't be like the 95% of people out there that will have to FAFO. Get your BTC while you can.

Historically volumes drop globally across all asset classes in the summer. Thin liquidity means things can have violent pumps and dumps. People are still going to take options positions and FAFO. You're very wise to seek advice. The people of this community are all heavily biased, however. We will (probably unanimously) tell you that it is definitely a great time to buy Bitcoin. There's not really a terrible time to buy, either. Logically, since Bitcoin can potentially accrue value forever, as long as you have diamond hands to hodl your stack with, there's no bad time to buy Bitcoin. Just DCA if you believe in the network long-term. If you don't believe it's a good long-term investment, you will get yourself hurt. Don't FAFO. Do your homework and learn how to buy and take it into self-custody. The best time to buy Bitcoin was 10 years ago, the second best time is always today.

Try this with $100, not a whole BTC. You will quickly realize that all the work you put in trying to time the ups and downs will eventually fall even, if not below the possible gains of just buying and staying in the stock. You can’t predict anything, but one thing is 100% proven is that staying in for the long run and holding will be less stressful that the method you are suggesting. All of us investors thought the same way and got screwed at some point. So I suggest you start by running your theory with $100 to so how well you perform.
