Bitcoin's price has seen a 4% increase in October due to geopolitical uncertainty. It's trading around $28,000, but its reaction to global events, like the Israel war, remains uncertain. The CPI report this week is crucial for the Federal Reserve. On-chain metrics indicate Bitcoin is in a significant range dating back to 2021. Bitcoin hasn't seen significant price changes despite global events, and some describe its price action as "illiquid and choppy." The conflict in Israel has put volatility back in focus. The NVT signal for Bitcoin has spiked, indicating a shift in how its value is perceived. Crypto market sentiment is neutral. Some expect a return to $20,000 before higher prices post-2024 block subsidy halving.

tldr; Bitcoin (BTC) remains steady at $28,000 as geopolitical instability captures market attention. The ongoing conflict in Israel has yet to significantly impact Bitcoin's price, which has been trading in a tight range. However, market participants anticipate increased volatility as the situation unfolds. Other factors, such as the upcoming U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report and macroeconomic triggers, could also influence Bitcoin's price. On-chain metrics, including the network value to transaction (NVT) signal, are showing interesting trends. Overall, the market sentiment is currently neutral, with investors awaiting potential buying opportunities. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. NVT Signal, is one of the best metrics for identifying over-valuation. it can be used to identify when Bitcoin is overbought (expensive) or oversold (cheap). It does this by calculating the ratio of Bitcoin’s market capitalization to its daily on-chain transaction value.

When the historical volatility drops below 40, it indicates a significant move is on the horizon, and the indicator uses green to represent a potential price increase and red to indicate a potential price decrease. Steve advises viewers to pay attention to the color changes in the indicator and the volatility level, as they indicate the calm before a potential storm in Bitcoin’s price. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. The NVT ratio measures the relationship between an asset's market capitalization and its network transfer volume. TL;DR ~ The seven-day average of Ethereum's network-to-value (NVT) ratio, which measures the cryptocurrency's market capitalization (numerator) in relation to the value of on-chain transactions processed on the underlying blockchain (denominator), slipped to 59.3. That's the lowest since Nov. 19, according to data tracked by blockchain analytics firm Glassnode. A rising ratio, implying a slower growth rate of onchain transactions relative to the cryptocurrency's price, suggests the network is overvalued. A declining ratio indicates otherwise.

NVT (Network Value per Transaction) is not even close to being equivalent to P/E. P/E is about profit for investors. NVT is closer to marketcap since Bitcoin's average daily transaction count is a constant of about 300K.

As you have noted, the TVL value is important to understand the ecosystem’s health. The higher the TVL is, the stronger the platform is. And on the contrary, a low TVL means that the platform loses its positions in the market. When talking about Solana, the project was heavily supported by Alameda, a trading company founded by SBF. So, when Alameda and FTX failed, Solana also suffered because without incoming funds that were provided by Alameda earlier, the project is struggling to survive. Considering that there are many more blockchains that provide the functionality similar to Solana but are more stable and efficient, this turn is not surprising. And you have noted correctly that TVL alone cannot be used to determine whether a project has any perspectives or not. Among other important metrics to check are: * the number of unique addresses that use the protocol for a specific period (day, week, months) and their dynamics. * trading volume * market capitalization * network value to transaction (NVT), among others

Here's my process for looking into Cryptos, I'd love some feedback on areas that you think I can improve on for a more holistic analysis! Initially, I wasn't sure if one could even do fundamental analysis on cryptocurrencies. Then, I thought about tech stocks. A taxi company with no taxis, hotel service with no buildings, and more. Some cryptocurrencies have real business models with revenue generating processes. I realised some of the typical stock market fundamental analysis could be applied to cryptocurrencies. I then thought about currencies, and commodities. Cryptocurrencies have traits of stocks, currencies, as well as commodities. Some cryptos are more like stocks than other cryptos, etc, because cryptocurrencies refer to a wide range of products. I provide what I think is a really comprehensive guide on how to conduct your cryptocurrencies fundamental analysis. If you think there are other things to consider, I'd love for you to share your thoughts with me! Scroll down for the full chapter list for this video :) My Model for Fundamental Analysis of Cryptocurrencies: 1. Business Model: Whitepaper Understand the project What is it’s utility? Which network is it on? Does it bridge? Are there any possible cycles to look out for? Does it depend on any macroeconomic trends? How does it generate income? Is it backed by anything? What is the project road map? Team Competence Who are the developers? What is their background? Any management experience? Tech background? Strategic Partnerships Who are the partners? Are they really able to help? Community # of Github Commits How long have they been around? Discord, Twitter, Telegram, Reddit 2. Security & Speed Has the crypto been audited, and if so, by who? Any prior hacks / incidents? Who supports the network? Is the network at risk? How many transactions per time period? How long to confirm a transaction? 3. Competitive Moat Is this unique or is it just marketing and shilling? Are others forking? Who are the competitors and are they any good? How big is the total market? Is there space for multiple competitors? Who has the lead? Can it bridge across chains? 4. Tokenomics (ie Supply & Demand Analysis) What was the initial allocation? What is the dump risk? (ie when do tokens vest?) What is the inflation rate & the plan? Is there mining, burning, or is everything pre-minted? How is the network supported? (ie mining & fees) How is interest / inflation etc controlled? What is it’s scalability? 5. can\`t be the reason. the differences are to big. as 10x. if it drops more, the difference in NVT will only go higher as 10X with all the others. its not logic. there must be something wrong with the calculation of the on-chain transaction volume for UTxO models as ADA and BTC. Maybe there is just no way to know what the unspent volume is and the data is bogus. But would be nice to find someone of the on-chain data vendors to reply to this. I understand it is against their shop to admit it. I just like to know if the data is correct or its impossible for UTxO models.

ok, that is logic. But then you say that within 3 months when all the DEX are active on Cardano, ADA will get the same adjusted NVT value than others that have 10x higher NVT values? that means ADA price has to go a lot up as 10x against the others. That seems highly unlikely at the moment.

Look at NVT/S2F and MVRV models. BTC is a fair amount undervalued right now. It could go down a lot next 6 months but a 5-year bear market is extremely unlikely with how pervasive crypto is in all major news outlets. Most of it is speculation right now, as in I buy now and I'll sell it higher to another person in the future. Layer one's work off rewards, you mine or stake and are rewarded for that by getting X amount of the associated crypto. dApps including Exchanges work off fees, users pay to use the service. This revenue goes to either the company and or holders. There can be mixtures of the above. That being said some parts of the blockchain or whole blockchains don't generate any revenue and just rely on people volunteering resources like BTC nodes. So stocks have PE ratio, whereas the concept of NVT or NVTS for blockchain has been proposed. Worth looking into.

from the article: As a veteran fund manager with 17 years of experience running a multi-asset portfolio at investment titan HSBC, Charlie Morris spent a lot of time looking for different and interesting asset classes that could offer non-correlated returns. Bitcoin was one of the assets that caught Morris's attention back in 2013.  But, at that point, it wasn't quite ready to be neatly packaged into an investor's portfolio, so Morris instead focused his attention on the data behind the asset class. He co-founded ByteTree.com, an institutional crypto data provider that offers investors access to a terminal with metrics to analyze the price action of bitcoin as well as traditional commodities, like gold and silver. Only last year, did Morris return to the idea of adding bitcoin to investors' portfolios with the launch of ByteTree's asset management arm, which offers exposure to two different crypto funds. This timing was perfect. Bitcoin (BTC) surged 375% from November 2020 as adoption picked up among institutional invecstors, retail traders and even countries, such as El Salvador, where it is legal tender now. Just this week bitcoin reached an all-time high of around $66,000 on the back of the launch of the first US bitcoin futures exchange-traded fund, which already has $1 billion assets under management days after launching. The bitcoin 'hype cycle' While the ETF launch has driven a burst bullish price action, Morris is not convinced it will last. He's particularly concerned about the ETF sustaining the momentum, based on the performance of commodity futures ETFs in the past. "Over time, they just massively underperformed the underlying and you're going to see the same thing here," Morris said. "Now unfortunately, for bitcoin futures, the more demand there is for bitcoin, the worse the roll yield gets. At the top of hype cycles, you get the most underperformance." Insider recently spoke to several crypto investors and ETF experts who made similar points. Morris draws comparisons to the USO ETF, which tracks WTI crude oil futures and has underperformed relative to the price of oil over the long-term. "A lot of these things become effective trading vehicles where in the short term, you don't care about the slippage, here and there, for days, weeks, months, they don't really notice," Morris said. "But it's when you're there for years, then it really starts to impinge on performance." Even before the launch of the futures ETF, Morris was bearish on the sentiment and price action surrounding bitcoin. At the Token2049 conference in London, on October 8, he said bitcoin was "overpriced" and worth no more than $28,000 based on ByteTree's fair value model. The model calculates fair value based on network value to transaction ratio (NVT-BT) and on-chain data to create a fair price valuation. Morris compares NVT-BT to the traditional price-to-sales ratio in equity analysis as one of the most direct measures in determining fair value. Leveraging 12-week transaction data, on October 22, the current fair value for bitcoin is around $36,000, meaning it's trading at a premium of around 71%, he said.

When evaluating the price of the stock, there are several ratios that investors like to use. What are some of the more interesting ones that you use before you invest in cryptocurrency and how do you use them? Just to mention some of the ratios I've seen floating around: NVT Ratio: Network to Value Transaction Ratio - P/E of Crypto. This is the market cap/network of transactions. This is generally used to see the hype behind the project <15 = Bullish; 25> Bullish. I feel conflicted about this one because I think that various investors use BTC as a value holder which will probably mean that the number of transactions on the blockchain is going to be quite... low? (compared to ETH for example). I also think that this number has the potential to be inflated by transactions used for apps. NUA - Network Unique Addresses - Indicator: Using blockchain.info to see how many unique addresses are using the network in a given day = uptrend is optimal. Network Transaction Value: self-explanatory - you are looking for the value traded on the blockchain. I feel like this one can be misread in various ways, where an investor sees whale price movement on the blockchain and sees this as a bullish move when in reality it is a pre-selloff move. MMR (Mayer Multiple Ratio) = p/200 day moving average. <1.0 = Bullish; >2.4 Bearish. What are some of the ratios you'd consider adding to your arsenal?

Some models that try to do this are the Stock-to-Flow model, Puell Multiple, MVRV-Score, NVT Ratio, or the Bitcoin log-chart. These valuations are only for Bitcoin but are some translations of these models for Ethereum as well. As the market, for many reasons, tends to move according to Bitcoin and the *Bitcoin halvings*, these valuation models are often translated to all other coins. For now, since the market is young, these are the most reliable models. A final word of advice: *all models are wrong but some are useful.* Hope this helps!

I'd counter that lower fees is NOT better when looking at L1. It might seem unintuitive, but higher fees means more demand of that chain. A ghost chain has 0 fees, so is that better than everything else? From an end-user high fees suck, but that's why L2s will shed the load. Fees generated by a chain help to pay for the security of a network, and that's what all chains with a hard cap will have to do if they want to sustain themselves once they hit their limit. Transaction volume is also misleading now because how are you accounting for all the volume happening on Layer 2s? Are you accounting for just ETH transaction volume or its whole ecosystem? Lastly, could you explain more how you calculated NVT?

Nothing is ever guaranteed. Anything can happen at any time. All we can do is stack the data, cycles, and patterns that produced prior outcomes, and use them to build a picture for what will happen going forward. It’s a game of probabilities. NVT= bitcoins “price to earnings” ratio. The network value divided by on-chain volume. Price is very undervalued relative to the amount moving on chain, which historically marks lows. Cycle-wise, I’ve been comparing this to July 2017 and the 2013 midpoint as that’s where we are; in the middle of the Halving Cycle, which is *always* marked by a large selloff. I’ll edit with a couple basic charts in one second.

Bitcoin is officially the cheapest in history relative to NVT pricing models Also, curiously, doing the same thing as the 2013 two wave advance/2017 mid cycle shakeout, as I’ve made comparisons to dozens of times https://twitter.com/woonomic/status/1395691954575339526?s=21

tldr; Bitcoin has broken its uptrend, made a lower high, and a lower low. The Pi Cycle Top Indicator has had its moving averages cross, indicating Bitcoin topped in mid-April. The Bitcoin NVT Ratio recently went from red to white, which can be interpreted as the network no longer being in high growth mode. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. This is pretty close to the bottom imo. This is the 6th time in history bitcoin has dropped below NVT price (market cap divided by Daily USD volume sent through blockchain) and every time its bounced off. It did this in the middle of both the 2013 and 2017 cycles and they still proceeded to hit nee ATH’s afterwards.

>but other metrics like BTC dominance do I distinctly remember BTC.D dipping in the middle of 2017 bullrun too, even lower than these levels. We did not check that in 2013 much so cannot say much about that though There are plenty of ways to see the price movement as well. I usually rely more on on-chain analytics for Bitcoin (e.g. average price of acquisition, NVT value etc), and it really doesn't look anything like a post-ATH to me. If anything it genuinely looks like a great entry point for those who missed the train in the last 3 years. That being said you cannot rule out anything. It is certainly within realm of possibility that this was it and we won't see daylight for another 4 years, I just don't see any resemblance of it from my experience. Just my two cents.

Agree it ain't over. Willy Woo's NVT chart keeps climbing on BTC. I'm less convinced of the flippening than I am of a BTC bounce regaining dominance again. I think Eth will take control next cycle as institutional money continues to move into the space. Sold 1/2 my ETH (now 25%) to buy back BTC. I think this is my last trade of the cycle other than taking profits above 70k. Moving out of ETH may not work out but stacking BTC was the goal and I have to be happy with what has become life-changing gains already.

We’re holding the 20WMA and the 150DMA, soot reset, mvrv never overheated, puell never overheated, well below S2F and S2FX models, bounced off NVT. So many indicators say otherwise but good luck matching up your lines lol.

You should use more than one indicator lol, MVRV, NVT, Reserve Ratio, Puell, Mayer multiple, etc.

tldr; CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju outlined several metrics indicating large BTC holders have kept purchasing in recent weeks. Notably, the NVT Golden Cross reached a yearly low beneath –2, which suggests “huge upside potential” for BTC’s price. Ju also said that wallets had moved coins to derivatives exchanges, meaning whales might open a long position by using their BTC as collateral. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. I think you'd be surprised actually. If you combine the stock-to-flow model with the NVT ratio, you are incredibly likely to get a solid price.

Anyone else see the daily NVT and Miner Index posted today? Will be pretty unexpected if things don’t press into low/mid 50s this weekend.

I’ve read it, but I wouldn’t rely on it. Any model that can match historical behaviour can be used to predict the future up until the point that it doesn’t. I also find NVT and MVRV interesting as metrics, but there are always external forces that can affect any market. Being fortunate enough to invest as a bull market begins gives you the luxury of riding it up with a trailing stop in place, where you set it in a historically volatile asset is the only genius you need (in my opinion).
