I've been using since January. I'm pretty happy with it. Unfortunately there isn't much plugin support. There isn't RES for Brave, so I had to get used to using Reddit without RES which I sorely miss. Also there isn't a night mode, I don't like that either. But other than that, its been great. Much faster than Chrome and FireFox

When it was first introduced, vocal opponents thought the concept of spending money to put a shiny label on a comment or post as being incredibly useless. I mean, it still is, but that's one of the reasons. Seemed like a complete waste of money and people thought nobody would possibly do something like buy it, then here we are. I've used reddit for the better half of a decade now (not on the same account though). Still browse it on desktop with the old version because it supports Reddit Enhancement Suite's keyboard navigation, while the new one doesn't and also takes longer to collapse comments. There is also no way to resize inline images on the new design, whereas on the old one with RES you could click and drag on images to resize them within the thread. Little things like that add up.

As soon as I enabled that it displayed the banner for me.** I didn't see it at first, thought I should be eligible, so I was sad that reddit didn't love me anymore. Thought maybe something was blocking it, tinkered around a bit, turned some extensions off, thought maybe it was because I was using RES. This was probably part of it, I think I had the "Old" reddit mode turned on in there. Browsed around again, refreshed, and still nothing. Then I saw the option to enable 'New' reddit in the top left corner of the page, selected that and instantly got the banner afterward. El Salvador has [$3 Billion in reserves](https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/FI.RES.TOTL.CD?locations=SV). $66 million in Bitcoin means that 2.2% of their holdings are in Bitcoin. This $1.3 Billion loan would be fully backed by reserves even if Bitcoin goes to 0 tomorrow. So why is the IMF pressuring him on the Bitcoin issue? It's not about fiscal stability.

I blame... the Reddit redesign. Both the Reddit app, and the "non-old" web, have messed with content discoverability in an extreme way, highly rewarding posts and comments that get "hot" or upvoted quickly, while **hiding everything else!!** 😬 For most people, who don't use alternate apps, don't use the "old Reddit", and don't use RES, it's almost impossible to reach the "long tail" of content to even *begin* upvoting it. This gets worse the more people follow a sub: once a post or comment becomes visible with a few initial votes 👍, Reddit will start hiding competing content🔅, meaning people will vote the visible one even more ✅✅, in a feedback loop 📈 that makes any other content unable to compete.💀 That's why popular subs doe, they become great for ad engagement🏁💲, and completely useless as discussion forums.🙈🙊

He literally bought like 2 BTC in the end of Dec. Peanuts for a country. Moreover, they are mining BTC now and this is slowly going to add to their GDP. All of you want Bitcoin/ crypto adoption (im assuming thats why you are on a crypto sub in the first place), but the first time someone.. anyone takes a step to adopt BTC, you go all out to attack what they have done. What did you think Bitcoin/ crypto adoption would be like? Do you believe one fine day everyone across the world will just start accepting bitcoin as tender, without any fight? And just like that crypto will be global currency? Someone has to take the risky steps to move towards making crypto a legal tender. > He is not the one who will suffer tremendously if BTC continues to fall, his people will This is objectively wrong. First of all, risking 2% of their reserves is a decent risk: reward strategy. More over, go read about El Salvador coups in its history. If there is a collapse, he will be taken down and either sent to a jail for a long time or worse be sent to the guilotine. Its not unheard of in that countyr, its pretty much the norm. For instance the El Salvador president from 2015 is already in jail for a number of reasons.

Not much. Most recent data hows El Salvador to have a National Reserve of slightly over $3B. https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/FI.RES.TOTL.CD?locations=SV They hold a total of 1220 BTC worth around $70m in total, or $0.07B. So around 2% of their total National Reserve is in BTC.

Bitcoin is a peaceful and constructive protest and seeing and understanding it as that places you in a far stronger position if buying in to hold Bitcoin and be part of the solution. Those solely and cynically attracted by selfish greed are far more likely to bail out on dips and lose big time and Ive seen it happen plenty! They do not understand or believe Bitcoin presents a potential solution or even recognise the problem it seeks to solve. My discovery of BTC was like hell yes I want in! - finally there is something that might be able change or at least disrupt the fucked up corrupt fiat debt slavery bankers cartel capture of our wealth and politics. There is no guarantee of ultimate success- the FED RES bankers and CCP are no slackers, but so far Bitcoins success in highlighting the nature of the problem and providing a viable, practical and evolving solution, and HOPE, has been incredible. Like all contests it is as much about hearts and minds, as territory - and there is a lot at stake. The gross display of cynical selfish greed that is implicit in many comments/posts shows there is still a long way to go.

how does RES filter work?

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Yeah I agree, I have to use RES to filter out a lot of these type of posts to make the subreddit usable, like if you hide the "card" flair then you won't see everybody posting pics of their visa card in /r/Crypto_com which is like half the posts on there lol.

El Salvador and many other nations who lack sound money. Bitcoin as already implemented in El Salvador provisions SOUND MONEY to any nation that chooses to adopt. Yes the fat debt slavery cartel led by the secretive bankers who own the US FED RES will resist adoption as will the CCP who wish to introduce their own global monetary hegemony... But Bitcoin uniquely provisions sound money with a string SoV basis and practicable MoE implementation via Lightening.

> Bitcoin makes this possible and minimizes environmental cost of said plant. How? That's not a condescending question, I'm genuinely curious why and how you think bitcoin minimizes the environmental cost of coal power plants. The usual setup is having the coal power plants run constantly to cover the base load and using the more flexible power plants (gas, solar, wind) to cover the peaks. The MWs from coal are steadily generated and there's really not much room for efficiency improvements. Of course they're not usually run at max capacity but if you were to do that (e.g. to mine BTC), you'd have to be mining more coal and that doesn't really make it any more efficient or less environmentaly demanding. Quite the opposite. > And why would you not expect them to build renewables? Might have added "in the near future". Unstable infrastructure of TSOs and undeveloped storage and control systems for intermittent power sources are to blame. I've been helping conduct Smart grid investments via P/E fund in Bangladesh and not only is the country extremely underdeveloped for RES implementation, it's also fairly difficult replacing the current infrastructure (governmental agenda, setbacks, competitive landscape). I'd imagine the same case for other 3rd world countries.

Just because new solar is cheaper doesn't mean that coal isn't cheap (i.e. my original claim about your data and the actual claim of op). Furthermore, 3rd world countries' energy mixes tend to be heavily skewed towards fossils (e.g. Bangladesh has 3% of energy capacity generated by RES) and you can't expect some dramatic changes in that regard. > While it is cheaper to build renewables when considering a new plant, that metric doesn’t necessarily apply to running a fossil fuel plant that already exists, explains Ashley Langer, an energy economist at the University of Arizona. Sometimes, she adds, the regulatory structure of utilities actually makes it more profitable to keep a coal or natural gas plant running.

First of all, congrats for taking steps to spend less and save more to invest in your future. Not a dig at yourself or anyone in a similar position as you, but posts like yours and other similar ones I've seen in the past really illustrate how true [this commenter](https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/qahn0h/you_want_actually_unpopular_opinions_here_we_go/hh365s3/) was in a thread earlier today. RES showed me that I had upvoted posts of yours in the past, and I went back to check which thread I upvoted and found a handful of other ones offering good advice. If your idea of cutting costs involve avoiding junk food/designer clothing then I'm assuming 1. your living expenses are already extremely cheap to begin with, and 2. You're under 18, right? Also possibly not even of an age where you can work a job? This isn't meant to gatekeep, but I find it so strange how all these types of posts seem to happen when the market is overly enthusiastic, and not when things seem like they're tumbling down. In your case, you say you've been DCA for 5 months, yet even with a 50% drawdown in the market, your eth holdings were only 0.06 and used scholarship money for the remaining amounts. There's been more and more posts like these and with the crypto fear/greed index reaching new heights, it feels like there's going to be a lot of people burned and not ready to handle what a serious 90% drop looks like.
