1. Short term (5-10 years) the goal is to get at least 3x your initial investment. For longer terms (20-50 years, it may be used as a main currency and would be good if someone can hold it that long (ex. 1 BTC = 1,000,000 USD could be the last price before full adoption; who really knows..) 2. Volatility could be instantly stopped once legally fully adopted in a country. 1 sat will be 1 sat. Time will tell if it can slow down; maybe slow down to the exchange rate of world currencies to the .00 3. I think since at most 4% of the world population owns bitcoin, the plateau is far from near. But I am pretty sure 80-90% of institutions have gone in on it so BIG moves in price are definitely close to over. I feel once’s 30-50% of the “normal” citizen owns Bitcoin, the price could hit $300k. But I think something pretty drastic has to happen over the next 5-8 years for it to be realized. Just my thoughts. Just a normal “investor”

I had the same reaction. I went in expecting a takedown of actual scams like FTX, Celsius Network, pump-and-dumps, fake yield products, influencer grifts, etc. There’s more than enough real material there. Instead, it felt like the conclusion was already decided first: all crypto = one BIG scam, and then everything got filtered through that lens. A few contradictions / selective points stood out: 1. Bringing up David Chaum as if his criticism means digital currency itself is nonsense. Chaum literally spent decades building digital cash systems before Bitcoin existed. If he calls Bitcoin primitive, that’s not the same as saying the whole concept is fraudulent. 2. Conflating scams built **on top of crypto rails** with the rails themselves. FTX was fraud. Celsius Network was reckless nonsense. By that logic, banking fraud would mean banks themselves are scams. 3. Acting like criminal usage is unique to crypto while ignoring cash, shell companies, laundering through traditional finance, etc. Bad actors use whatever works. 4. Calling the whole ecosystem worthless while barely acknowledging real existing use cases like stablecoin settlement, cross-border transfers, tokenization pilots, and programmable settlement experiments. You can debate scale or future relevance, but pretending zero utility exists is weak analysis. 5. Using experts selectively. If one technical critic says Bitcoin has flaws, that becomes gospel. But experts who see legitimate innovation get ignored. 6. Dismissing Bitcoin as nonsense while skipping the genuinely novel achievement of decentralized double-spend prevention without a central issuer. You can dislike it and still admit that mattered. I really wanted to like it because I’m all for scams being exposed. But calling the entire space a scam is ignorant at best, delusional at worst.

A lot of people here (reasonably!) think this is a pyramid scheme. I see it slightly differently - It's a BIG bet on the idea that bitcoin will gain widespread adoption. This bet absolutely could fail and MSTR + holders would be big losers. I think most folks who buy STRC/MSTR actually know this and are betting on a similar future. I think Saylor is making this bet, believing it will play out as he expects but understanding that there's a chance it won't. Note: I do not hold STRC, but I've been considering it. I likely will choose to just buy BTC instead, but I find his play interesting and worth investigating.

People read stuff like this get spooked, or hyped, and thats where the 12% comes from. This from a buttcoiner - Say for example you own $1m of bitcoin, and you have $20k of expenses. If the bitcoin price goes up 2%, you now have $1,020,000 of bitcoin. He will then take a new loan out against this new $20k "asset" that he owns, and use that to pay his expenses. He could also sell $20k of the bitcoin to pay the expenses, but, he wants to avoid that, because by selling bitcoin he will put downwards pressure on the price (as he will be selling so much of it, it's in the hundreds of millions a year expenses), and then he's in BIG trouble if he falls into that cycle. The 2% is an old figure... he's done a huge round of funding recently on his expensive preference shares (because he can't issue normal stock as much more without ruining his whole "bitcoin yield" that he basis his whole argument on). The new figure is going to be something like 4%. If he continues to raise more money through his preference shares (which is pretty much his only option atm), that % will keep increasing. And of course, the more loans he takes out to pay his expenses, the more his expenses grow, and eventually will hit a point no bank will want to loan him any more money as his asset cover isn't high enough for his costs (refinance where Michael) and the only option left is to sell bitcoin, and then kaboom. TLDR He's building a giant house of cards, and eventually it will fall down, the longer it lasts, the bigger the mess it will make when it does.

There always is "an angle". There absolutely are ways to buy and sell crypto safely. But someone, possibly multiples, is making money off your grandmother. (And that's okay. For instance, Coinbase takes its commission on sales on its exchange.) What _is_ an issue is transparency. If the guy is legit, he will be open to as many granular questions as you possibly can through at him. And further, if he is legit, he will _ask_ you to verify everything he is telling you through independent third parties. i.e. The moment he is asking your grandmother to trust him, that's the red flag. _Where does that leave you?..._ * Best case the guy is legit and given free investment advice out of the good of his heart. That's a red flag because anyone counseling "invest in XRP" to a grandmother _without an extraordinary number of caveats_ and within the scope of your grandmother's total financial life is not qualified for the conversation. * Worse case is the guy is 100% a grifter, is having your grandmother send money to him to "invest on her behalf", but in fact, he's just pocketing it. (Look up "pig butchering".) * Middle case is the guy is a victim himself, stuck in some ponzi, and gets a bonus for additional "investors". But he doesn't realize he's a victim because he's making the XRP purchases on an illegitimate/fake exchange. (These are very much a real threat.) He _thinks_ he's trying to help, and share the best investment since sliced bread...but his own money is already gone, and the scammers tell him "If you can find use some more deposits, we can release your principal." You may not know much about crypto, but you know enough to keep your grandma safe: Just put the brakes on everything to allow for your review. (Again, if the guy is legit, he'll already know the risks, and he won't get hand wavy or talk fast. He'll provide an education and _ask you to check for yourself_. If he says he will do _anything_ for your grandmother, that's a BIG red flag.) When you're dealing with elderly investors, especially those who may feel they did not prepare enough for retirement in their younger years, they'll often try to "catch up" with increasingly riskier investments. It becomes almost like the gambler's fallacy that "this time will be different". It is part of what makes the elderly appealing targets...they're already "soft targets". You want to make your grandmother a "hardened target". Best way to do that is make the guy slow down his routine. If he is _legit_, there will be no issue with slowing down for verification. Both the scammers, and those stuck within scams, prey on artificial urgency.

It needs the same thing as any innovation/technology before - solve specific real-world problems, improve/optimize exisiting process/way of doing things. You should use “Web3” or “decentralized computing” or “decentralized paradigm” instead of “crypto”. Why? Because crypto is all what you mentioned - scams and manipulation, virtual value, speculation, meme coins, false DeFi built on virtual/non-existent value, ponzi schemes, Greater Fool Theory (GFT) etc. Web3, on the other hand, describes attempts to provide tech layer/foundation for whole new paradigm or doing things. Just like Web1 provided layer for first e-commerce, Web2 massively improved this and enabled Social Media etc. People who have no tech. foundations, are barely able to see or appreciate what promising value can blockchain-based platforms bring, and that it is built on top class science of last several decades (internet and all protocols and APIs, cryptography, distributed systems etc). So if you are writing article about that “damn crypto”, you could transform into “web3 space” and re-phrase the original vision, not electronic cash and replacement of fiat, but new tech layer for solving problems (bullet proof voting systems, supply chain mgmt, smart contracts!). The problem so far was, blockchain and its 100% publicity of data or transparency. Who would do real banking or finance on public ledger where ALL is visible to anyone including balances, right? So the 2026 next BIG THING is adding another complementary layer, which is able to provide privacy aspects. I have no relationship with any project, but I am especially curious about CARDANO and MIDNIGHT project, where Midnight is the side-chain with zero knowledge proofs aka ZKs, trying to add the privacy and selective disclosure of data stored in blockchain. There are more platforms coming with their “privacy” solutions so it is where the competition is starting. In general, rational privacy, is the anywer for you 😄

Idk, in this modern day setting, it just seems like the lower and lower it goes, the less and less likely it is to go back up to previous ath's. The reason it went to what it did in 2024/2025 is largely because of institutions and investment firms getting on board. And alot of them are getting burned right now. So for an asset that let's be honest, serves no real day to day use and isn't a reliable OR particularly easy store of value, I feel like the only chance of it going back up to 125k+ is if there is some major global shake up REQUIRING its use. The world of 2022 and 2026 are not the same at all. The difference between previous dips and this dip, is alot of BIG money institutions that drove it to those prices to begin with, are getting burned bad and are less and less likely to touch it again. Before that it was just enthusiasts and individual holder for the most part. So if their BIG money isnt coming back into the picture, the only way it goes back to ath's is by alot of individuals putting big money into it, and the only way that happens is by some major shake up I feel. Like using a pword manager and with trezor creds record and possibly putting his seed or recovery word phrase in the notes of the password recovery manager for that record.... something like that. (not airgapping that sort of info is a BIG rookie mistake.) They took over his google account and phone and were able to get immediate access to that info to drain the accounts. Also, google voice numbers are one of the platforms of choice for phone scammers, so the fact he didn't know that means he's deffo a scammer target.

Alts don’t have a cycle tied to the 4 year cycle. They are hype based and solely rely on 1. BTC fresh BIG profits. 2. Risk-on market environments (very low interest) 3. Hype. Thats all it is. Altcoin season is solely a period of time , often brief, BTC traders use as a profit vehicle to fatten their BTC profits. Every alt season is always all bitcoin money, not new traders or fundamentals or news or any of that. Those may support a certain “hype” acting as a helper but thats it. For a visual example the BTC.D chart shows every alt season very clearly. That charts Bitcoin flowing into every other coin. I think Bitmine blows up way sooner than Saylor. Idk if Saylor ever blows up, but Bitmine is already billions of dollars underwater on their ETH buys. In a recent video of Tom Lee, he talked about how they will "accelerate" their buys if the price goes lower. Sounds like classic shitcoiner behavior. Nobody wants to hold ETH long term, for good reasons. I think the market is seeing Bitmine take a BIG risk here...it makes sense to take the other side of that trade

The change is only in how the number is presented. It's not changing how many you have. 0.000000001 is the current smallest unit (satoshi). When coins are lost you have an even smaller amount than 21 million! Making current circulation even more scarce! If it's agreed eventually that 1 satoshi is TOO BIG to use, then additional divisibility will be introduced and a satoshi will maybe look like this. 0.000000001000 Then the smallest unit is 1 thousandth of a satoshi. It will only ever come about if 1 satoshi is TOO BIG for use. You still have 1 satoshi regardless of it's divisibility. Nothing changes with the amount of bitcoin.

Well the way I found out is I wished to purchase a server list from a guy in North Korea. He only took BTC and had 2 links. "Why only BTC" which was banks stopped him from doing business with like 42 countries, and once he sends the list out people would cause charge backs to him but no way to un-see the list. This is BIG news. In fact, this has been one of Bitcoin's key features that attract big money to invest in it. A scarce asset, with increased demand over time, equates to the price of that asset going way up. It's a pretty simple concept...and yet surprisingly most other digital coins don't share this amazing feature. that would be 5.4m reals here, a BIG penthouse is about 1m, with the rest 4.4m you could get investments to return you about 40k a month and I live with about 3.5k comfortably right now, paying all my bills including rent, eating good food, having fast internet, taking care of my cats, sometimes buying some expensive stuff, sometimes traveling, etc. If I could save 30k a month and reinvest, diversify, buy more btc to keep some value safe, I'd only be getting wealthier with time living like the top 1% here
