Lol I also got burned by AMP. Fortunately I had already rotated out of almost every altcoin before the crash happened and was left with 95% of my portfolio in ETH and small amounts of ATOM, MATIC and AMP which are now worthless. Now I just rotate/rebalance between BTC and ETH and will never purchase anything outside of these 2 coins.

Why Vet? It suffers same issue as AMP. Great idea and tech, but was it too early. Now that crypto is mainstream, these great smaller cryptos/ideas assembly to be getting replaced with new projects on the scene.

[Trezor Safe 5](https://trezor.io/trezor-safe-5) is very nice to use @ $180. Touch screen, swiping, very smooth. Works with PC wallets and Android wallets. It's the best for daily users. [Coldcard MK4](https://coldcard.com/mk4) @ $178 is great if you want high security, lots of features but not obvious on how to use. It's great if you want to pull it out on rare occasion. The dot matrix looking menus and clicky buttons offer somewhat clunkier usability, i.e. for entering your passphrase. It would take me longer to do the same send function with MK4 vs Trezor Safe 5. The more budget option I would also recommend (and own) is [Trezor Safe 3](https://trezor.io/trezor-safe-3) @ $80. Ledger has baggage and Trezor Model One is a decade old, may soon go out of support, and same as Trezor Model T - no secure element. A more modern generation of wallets with a strong base is Safe 3 or Safe 5. All of these options obviously come with top notch safety, secure elements, whole nine yards, not just "looking pretty." Do not get scammed. Do not let anyone set things up for you. Do not lose or reveal your mnemonic to any app or website to "validate" wallet, or "web3" anything, or other nonsense. Do not fall for scary looking emails telling you to migrate your wallet or some quantum thing and telling you to give up your mnemonic to some website. Doesn't matter if it looks like the hardware vendor made it. Read and follow the instructions and user guides. Enable the passphrase feature and get comfortable with how it creates an entirely separate wallet. Passphrase isn't stored internally so it cannot be extracted from the hardware by any means even if the device is lost or stolen. There are some fans of Jade. Unless you need what it specifically does like bitcoin liquid and AMP token stuff do not buy a Jade.

You know, there are Steam gift cards, right? So the question is, why doesn't Steam drop all payment processors and rely on its gift cards instead? I would wager that Steam gift cards are a lot more accessible to customers than expecting them to obtain stablecoins. So why doesn't it happen? Convenience. It is the same argument I have heard 100 times about how crypto is going to eat up Visa/Mastercard's business due to swipe fees. Last cycle, AMP was all the hype.... then the real world didn't seem to really give a fuck... Why? Convenience. In a free market, the customer is always right. Credit cards are just more accessible. Credit card transactors, those who can spend, aren't going to give up their cashbacks - it is not individually rational to expect ppl to give up benefits.

AMP, the collateral token behind Flexa. They are looking to make payment in crypto usable in the same way credit cards are at the retail merchant level, but faster and more importantly cheaper. When it get adoption, it will skyrocket. XCN. Very similar to XLM and XRP, just not as well known yet. The new Goliath whitepaper was just released. It's seen some sharp spikes and pullbacks this year, but other than when the market was hurting overall has held strong for the past several months.

A few days before the inauguration my brother told me about three coins he's been watching, how they're American, Trump administration was going to be pro crypto, possibly end capital gains on American coins. It made sense, so I bought in. Those coins were XCN, XRP, and AMP. For I buy in on hype? Sure did. Did I buy high? Yes again. But I took it as a learning experience. I still hope all 3. I've continued to but more of all three. I'm in the green on XRP at this point, and just about break even on XCN. AMP hasn't paid off.... YET. I'm confident it will and I continue to but more.

Depends what you want. If you are looking for small to medium gains with average risk then BTC, ETH and SOL like you said. If you want to have a chance at getting huge gains with high risk then you could add a selection of projects that currently have a small market cap but a reasonable actual use case and at least functional, proven tech with some level of adoption/partners or investors, collaborators among large corporations. There are many but it takes some effort to find them. Some interesting ones could be AMP, IMX, XRP, Render and Chainlink just to name a few with different use cases/funtionality. Once you start looking into the field and really finding out what these projects offer a whole new world will open for you. However it is still early and many will fail... but some will likely succeed, some fail and some ancient ones will also likely fade out at some point. For starters stop thinking about various tokens as just "coins" or crypto money.

So true, and I (partially) fall into the category on the right. I'm late to the game, started investing in crypto in Jan. this year. And didn't buy any BTC at that point. I started with XCN, XRP, and AMP on the advice of my brother who's been playing around in crypto for a few years. Then I started doing my own research. I obviously already know about BTC, but didn't *know know* about it. As I kept learning, I bought in slowly, starting around $103k and was ignorant, I didn't realize I was buying high and not just BTC either, I was still stacking the others, and branching to other coins. Trump starts talking tariffs. Markets decline, then drop. We know what happened and where the markets went. But by this point I was less stupid. I know finance well enough to realize, and I'm lucky to be financially secure enough that I bought the dips. Like, all of them. Starting buying my averages way down. But my mistake you ask? Everyone says BTC should be your top holding, at least half if not up to 90% of your crypto investment. Well the heck with that. Bitcoin is old news. I'll invest in it, sure. But it won't outperform the market overall. So between $85k and $72k, I stacked up more. But only about 10% of what I was investing. Most of the rest went into buying down my averages on XRP, XCN, and AMP, about half of my DCA allotment. And the other 40% went to other coins. Tried a few memes. Made some money, lost a little more, but I learned from it. Bought into HBAR and ONDO. Pretty happy about those investment. Got some SOL to stake and get a little passive income. Not thrilled, but not upset. Looking back, I should have at least doubled what I was putting into BTC while it was under $90k. I'd be better off and in a safer position. When it started to take off earlier this month, I bought over $100k for the first time since Jan, on May 18th. Watching and studying and learning does pay off, I managed to catch that bottom at least. Grabbed a nice little portion at just over $103k. Would I have been better off three weeks earlier at $95k? Obviously. But that's the lesson that usually only time can teach.

A couple of months ago I got a little carried away on rumors of an imminent altcoin surge and picked up about 20 different things in addition to my main horses BTC and XRP. Now I've got a portfolio that's a bit hard to keep track of. But they're all only things that to my mind seem to have "new paradigm" potential, like Kaspa, XLM, XDC, XCN, XYO, FLR, AMP, etc. I got almost all of the ISO 20022 stuff. Kind of a shotgun approach that I hope will produce at least a few other winners.
