I don’t care about the price and only care that the network is SOUND and keeps it’s decentralized properties… if bitcoin became just another centralized shitcoin doing shady things like reversing transactions, POS etc then I would dump it…. EXACTLY It's all about priorities - if enough attention is brought to the issue they can throw money at it and get it solved lickety-split. The fundamentals of the chain are SOUND. The reference implementation (geth) just has local storage, socket, and thread management issues (at least). There's also value in competition/sibling rivalry - if Ethereum were to sponsor a team and completely separate implementation it would be the tide that lifts all ships. I don't go on these rants to hate on eth or anything else - I point out issues with the hope constructive criticism results in improvement.

I havn’t seen a proper answer here yet so lets give it a go! Soundness is not a scale of 1-100 its a binary yes or no. It basically means ‘true’ or unchanging. Bitcoins total supply is SOUND where ETH’s deflationary posture is simply opposite of current fiat. A TRUE store of value has one purpose, to reflect societal demand. As soon as one alters the supply, the value structure begins to favor past or future. If inflationary, the past receives outsized purchasing power in relation to the future. If deflationary, the future outsizes the past. That might sound good, but a sound money is to remain FAIR for generations to come. In ETH’s example, the asset would theoretically reach a point where it becomes unnaturally expensive to buy, thus stiffling adoption. And lastly the reliability of these rules is crucial. If ETH finds trouble with its model down the road, theres a big chace stakers will agree to a hard fork adding some inflation. You could stick it out in the old fork, but you would end up watching your coin price go down for lack of adoption. Bitcoin uses proof of work and has very conservative ideals in changing its protocol. There is no fuckin chance you are changing the 21 million in BTC. Yes you get less base later utility with bitcoin, but thats from refusing to sacrifice security. So if you want a SOUND money investment that likely finds its place as a huge store of value for centuries, grab some BTC. If you want your money to rip down the rapids of undiscovered digital asset use cases, with lots of adventure both good and bad, grab some ETH. Or just buy kryptokitty, that shiiiit is purrrfect

At one time I too thought that a porn coin was a great idea and bound to explode. Since that time I’ve been burned on 2 porn coins: BRAP and SCORT. Yes, my fault for giving even a penny to these shit projects. But I came to the realization that anyone that would try to make a coin like that is likely to exit scam when they begin to make money initially. Why?
