GBTC selloff is done??????

I guess my answer isn't for you then. I do ETFs, VFIAX and QQQM, (and a small bit of BITB), but my ETF strategy is retirement planning purposes

I actually did this with a 4% SBA loan. Invested 50% in BITB, 25% SPY, 25% XLK. it's going fine so far, and I have no doubt by the time this loan is paid off in 15 years it is going to be well worth it.

Unless you plan on using rule of 55 and your 401(k) plans allow for it, I'd roll them over to Schwab or Fidelity. You're probably paying exorbitant fees in your 401s relative to a brokerage. Consider allocating some into Bitcoin via BITB or FBTC.

Mentions:#BITB#FBTC

Never said that. I simply asked if you have an understanding of it. Something like VOO/BITB 90/10, respectively seems reasonable. A growing number of seniors are accumulating it via ETFs, by the way.

Have you started a Roth IRA? Please google or ask ChatGPT about the Roth IRA and learn about post tax retirement contribution and tax free growth. My recommendation is to max that before anything. Hell I consider it part of an emergency fund (one that I would def hope to never touch). You can't be taxed twice on personal income so whatever you put in can be taken out. Let's say you put in $5k a year for 5 years. You'll have access to $25k from the account if you need to liquidate. (Assuming the market has been flat or gone up). If you'd had losses, that sucks but you'll have access to the whole amount. If the market had gone up, and you had $35k from your original $25k then you would just want to not pull out that $10k return because that would be subject to taxes. There are even some circumstances where you can access some earnings tax free - first time home buy and birth of a child. Long story short - initial investment put into a Roth serves as an emergency fund so why have too much of a cash drag? That being said a rule of thumb for cash - Good to have 3 months of basic living expenses for every 1 person your income takes care of in cash. Couldn't imagine that being more than $7-8k while in school and Id be fine with just holding that $5k if you believe in your ability to generate income or have some family security. And if gets to April 15 and you haven't maxed out last year's Roth (that's the last day the IRS lets you backdate) throw the cash in the Roth. Remember you can still access it if needed. Always max the Roth! Maxing makes it easy to remember what you put in if you must access it in the future. As for investments QQQ is solid. My portfolio is probably 70% VOO, 15% other ETFs (semiconductors, utilities, small cap etc) 5-10% bitcoin ETF and 5-10% into random companies I like (CAVA, chipotle). Realistically diversifying on top of a large index won't help much on the long term equity return. I do think some bitcoin exposure is good and I use BITB from Fidelity. There's a risk with not having your own wallet, sure. The biggest negative with getting speculative within a Roth IRA is that you can't write off losses as the gains are tax free. Just remember that. As your income grows and you can invest outside a Roth, maybe reserve some of the more speculative buys for a traditional brokerage - however if you hit a ten bagger it will be subject to cap gains if you ever sell. Lots to think about- hope this helped.

Condense your holdings by selling everything you don't care about and rotate that capital into assets that you actually want to hold. After that, buy bitcoin (BITB, FBTC, or IBIT) and maybe MicroStrategy. Then sell all your FXAIX and buy BTCL. Once bitcoin reaches around $175k next year, trade the BTCL for BITB or another bitcoin spot ETF. Bitcoin should be no less than 25% of your portfolio. Do what you want with your money, but embrace high volatility and ride the waves while you're young!

It's never ogre. Always opportunity to play tops or bottoms, i think pre-earnings plays can hit nicely this week though, crypto shit popping off rn and casual investors who hear about BTC all time highs might hear about crypto stocks and stack in. Coin and Mara already pumping, there's still smaller ones like RIOT BITB. Or just Tesla on any dip lol

SEC has already given permission for; IBIT GBTC ARKB FBTC BTC BITB to be options traded. It just depends when CBOE etc. put it in place and then for your broker to offer it. But as of end October they have been given the green light.

Buy 1 Bitcoin (or BITB, they publicly post their wallet address). Or a Bitcoin proxy such as MSTR. Then I dump the remaining cash into TSLA. Then again, you could always just follow Nanci Pelosi and see what she does. That woman, and her husband, have the darndest luck when it comes to stocks. It’s almost like they know what’s going to happen. 😆

r/stocksSee Comment

I've just realised I used the wrong numbers. MARA has about $1 billion of Bitcoin which is and $4 billion market cap so 0.25x leverage MSTR has about $12 billion worth of Bitcoin and $20 billion market cap so 0.5x leverage Bitcoin itself is obviously 1x leveraged and so is IBIT and BITB, and then BITX is 2x Leveraged. So basically these companies are actually underleveraged and MicroStrategy will probably provide worse returns than simply holding Bitcoin if Bitcoin does really well. Although that doesn't take into account the fact that these companies have their own businesses on the side - MARA mines Bitcoin and MSTR is a software company, and MSTR has an OIBDRD (Operating Income before Discretionary Research and Development) of around $80 million whilst MARA has an OIBDRD of -$262 million. And now I'm confused. For some reason they have vastly different non-operating incomes which makes MARA net profitable and MSTR a net loss despite the fact that most of their non-operating income comes from Bitcoin's price appreciation.

You could combine VONG and VOOG (I use VUG personally). I'd ditch SMH and BITB and move it into SWPPX, but you prob have embedded gains (so not worth for tax reasons). QQQM is fine, but I wouldn't put more than like 10-15% of my portfolio it in and just buy the total market.

It's impossible to tell you exactly what you should do because we would need to know everything including your goals, home ownership, retirement plans, etc. But most would say put it in some broad ETF like SPY/VOO or something similar. > This is longer-term money that I'm looking to "work for me". If are you looking for long term holding and willing to stomach some volatility, I would buy some BITB.

BITB is also a directly correlated one, read the prospectus on them because some of the etfs aren’t a 1:1 correlation, but hedged with us bonds and such as well…

If you absolutely *insist* on putting some of your portfolio into crypto, I would suggest these things: 1) Never put in any amount of money that you wouldn't be comfortable losing 50% of. I would limit it to maybe 5% of your total portfolio in crypto. 2) Don't put that money into altcoins or shitcoins, that is just gambling, not investing. 3) Either purchase a reliable cold wallet storage (like Trezor or Ledger) and move the crypto onto it to minimize risk. If you aren't comfortable doing that, then you should just invest in one of the crypto ETFs like BITB or GBTC.

r/investingSee Comment

Forget GBTC. If you don’t like the responsibility of owning legit crypto, then look into FBTC (fidelity holds their own) or BITB (shows their wallet address for full transparency). Please remember that if you hold your own crypto, when you buy/trade/sell, that’s a tax event and you also pay transaction fees (gas fees). Some people forget that. If you buy the ETF’s, you’ll pay the 0.20%-0.25% (per year), per $1k, management fee. OR you can go this route, and buy Bitcoin proxies such as: MSTR (they have a split coming up next month), and SMLR (a mini MSTR). Personally, I hold everything I mentioned above, across multiple accounts.

I started a personal ROTH (outside of my employer) not that long ago, and I’m in my 40’s. I hold TSLA, MAIN, BITB, and FEPI (pays RoC). I plan on adding VONG as well (I have SCHG in my taxable). I have a mix of growth, dividends, and crypto. It’s doing rather well.

r/investingSee Comment

Get a Bitcoin ETF (FBTC or BITB) (They hold their BTC and don’t store it on Coinbase). And a growth ETF such as (pick one); SCHG, VONG, FTEC, or QQQM. I wouldn’t worry about dividends until you’re close to retirement, IF you want to go that route.

I am in my 40s looking to fire in 10 years. All $ in liquid equivalent form. Is setting automatic buys with 35% VTI, 35% QQQM, 5% BITB, 25% Meg 7 and SOXQ too aggressive or good for a 10 year view?

r/investingSee Comment

SCHG or VONG. Throw in a Bitcoin ETF as well (FBTC (Fidelity holds their own) or BITB (they publicly disclosed their address).

r/investingSee Comment

You could do something as simple as VONG (better growth than VOO with a better drawdown in a bad market) and add a Bitcoin ETF such as FBTC or BITB. Or replace VONG with SCHG.

I said this morning that BITB on margin was the way to go, and 45% later I maintain that stance. I hate BTC more than 99% of you and think it's nothing but a trading instrument, but it's going up whether it makes sense or not. Typical BTC highs have rsi well above where we're at now. https://charts.bitbo.io/monthly-rsi/ read this chart and tell me BTC isn't heading substantially higher in the near term.

The custodian of BITB is Coinbase anyway. If you buy that ETF through any broker, "your" coins are stored at Coinbase. So yes, there's basically no difference between buying BITB and buying coins on Coinbase and leaving them in your account there (provided you have good personal opsec, so your Coinbase account does not get compromised).

Yes, I’d put IBIT/FBTC/BITB all in the same category with small differences between them. As the comment below says, IBIT has highest AUM, FBTC custodies their own BTC which is appealing to me, BITB donates a portion of their fees to Bitcoin developers which I think is a great move as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy any of the above 3 ETFs

If you just want to hold BTC on an exchange you might as well just buy the ETF like BITB/FBTC/IBIT. The ETFs are also the best option for retirement accounts.  I’d also recommend spending some time learning about bitcoin and separately buying a small amount of it to play with, transfer to a self custody wallet, spend, and get a better understanding of how it works.

Strike, Kraken and River all have substantially lower fees for buying actual bitcoin. You’re getting milked by Coinbase with that 3% fee. Regarding BITB, it’s fine if you want to buy an ETF but you’re not buying actual bitcoin that you can take custody of. Main reason to buy ETFs is if you want bitcoin exposure in a taxed advantaged account like an IRA that can’t otherwise hold Bitcoin. IMO buying and holding actual bitcoin in a wallet you control is the best type of exposure, and certainly better than holding ETFs in a non-tax advantaged account. Just stop using coinbase and you solve the fee problem.

[This](https://www.etf.com/docs/IfYouCan.pdf) may be helpful as a general guide. Ignore investing in bonds for a few decades, if ever. Consider investing for the long-term. Markets will cycle and go up and down. Once you determine your portfolio allocation, stay the course. You can get yourself into a mess if you try and chase gains or are always messing with your portfolio. Time in the market > timing the market. Keep things simple. SP 500 or a total stock market such as VOO or VTI is a good choice. An equivalent, is just as fine, I'd say. ***If*** you want intl diversification, go with a fund outside of US such as VXUS or an equivalent. I'd recommend allocating a portion of your portfolio into Bitcoin. Here is an example: VTI/VXUS/BITB with 70/20/10 in percentages, respectively. If you just want domestic: VTI/BITB with 85/15. You can vary your %s and funds to fit your investment/tax strategy. As far as pre-tax v post-tax, that is a little more nuanced but not difficult to understand. There will be some redundancy but here are some links that will give you a comprehensive overview. BITB popping off

I rebalanced in early January with my ROTH and bought NVDA. Earlier I bought Bank of Mtl last Oct and made 22% on it. Then sold it 3 weeks ago and bought BITB a Bitcoin ETF. So far, my ROTH is up 30% since January mostly due to my AI and Bitcoin speculation play, so I traded a little bit and wisely. I have the belief we entered a "melt-up" and this is the early start of a bull market. With that attitude I made $, my start was low in the ROTH, but now I am no longer languishing by a "buy and hold' strategy where I held TRBCX and was flatlining from 2 years ago (it's up now by 10%, but 30% is better). As a 'rookie' with some economics background and a more global perspective than the average American, plus a willingness to look outside the box as I have no fear of looking silly to my "investment peers", I latched on to Phil Anderson. Look him up as I will not go into it on Reddit to be downvoted by the local big-heads (really, the small-heads). Again, I believe we are in a bull market and I certainly have been experiencing one - and it only just started. There's solid economic theory to back up the direction I follow.
