my proposal on reducing US debt problem would be as follow: 1. Create a government owned company called United States development company llc. (USDC llc.) 2. Establish a legal mechanism to exchange one us treasury to a voting share of USDC llc. with higher maturity treasury = more voting power 3. Give USDC llc. the legal powers of eminent domain, full legal ownership over assets of all US patents, US companies and the power to hire mercenaries as USDC agents to enforce its will 4. Since creditors of the US now have exchanged all their treasuries for shares of USDC llc. due to its complete monopoly over the US economy and due to having higher returns than treasuries, US debt is zero

How to sell a MEME Coin for USD Cash.  First, why even sell. 500 MEME coins are created in a day. Only 10 survives a day. All new MEME coins, dies on day three. The survival of a MEME is directly tied to its name, and the developer. Few developers have good history with the community and they do the right thing like CMC/CG cex LSTING. How to sell, log on to phantom wallet, SWAP the MEME back to SOL, if you swapped, and don’t see sol, most likely you made a mistake and swapped to USDC, swap USDC to sol. At this point, send sol to Coinbase or robin hood, and sell sol to USD, and withdrawal funds back to bank. I wouldn't go that far. Agreed that the amount of energy used to keep the ledger true is a problem, esp going forward if adoption grows and more miners enter the network, thus difficulty rising. But I gotta say the idea of a peer to peer payment system that is relatively decentralized and at this point too big for any one govt to shut the whole thing down is pretty appealing. I also like PoW as the method of validation- I just wish there were some way to be more efficient without a loss in security. PoS ofc is an alternative but comes with lots of tradeoffs. Not to get all BTC-ish here but from a very very general birds eye view, I've found it pretty amazing and useful that I was able to send value to a relative in Europe for less than $2 cost, no permission or interaction with a bank or third party required. Even more, it felt very "freedom-y" to be able to deposit BTC as collateral and take a permissionless loan out of USDC against it, convert that into USD and go purchase a necessary real world thing. No credit check, no application process, no absurdly high variable APR, and no time limit or periodic repayments required. Tbh it's incredibly refreshing. The volatility is a big issue ofc but that's the only thing I keep an eye on. Plenty of headroom that I can easily add collateral to if needed. The fact is I took a sizeable loan at a low APR without anyone judging my financials, my freelance self-employment (banks hate that!) or asking what the loan was for. I privately (where it matters) interacted with a smart contract in all of 3 minutes and in less than 20min had initiated USD xfer to my traditional bank. It feels great every time cuz I picture my bank being like heyyy! How'd you get that money without us!? Silly I know. But very powerful. Idc if it ends up being BTC or ETH or whatever crypto in the end. Whichever one allows for these use case scenarios and solves the downside issues without govt meddling is the one I'll def support as this crypto ponzi pans out.

This. DCA is the only way to go with the current market state, at least for me it's personally less risky than putting in lump sums. I opt for VTI most of the time, cryptos like BTC (I prefer a diverse portfolio) but with the recession, I've started hiding under stablecoins like USDC and BUSD. Usually just stake those on Spool Fi but any middleware should work.

Agreed. We may see a crash in the real estate market though. Mortgage rates are up 6% since 2008. Inflation is on the high. I initially thought the housing market will be safer, but moved to stablecoins like USDC to earn more than just holding fiat but with enough security. That was until Binance decided to stop supporting it, lol. Now I've moved to Spool Fi to stake it. Stock market is done too, crypto as well. Waiting to see how the Ethereum merge helps the latter.

De-globalization is basically going to result in long term persistent inflation (because globalization = deflation). Which means higher long term interest rates and currency fuckery. My guess would be stable ventures, stock wise would say defense stock PSN is my favorite, and cryptocurrency wise would say stablecoins. As a hedge against market turmoil I find it safer to stake my USDC on Spool to earn some yields

Your government can’t control crypto, but it depends on the type of crypto. For example: USDC a very popular crypto currency pegged to USD is issued by a company that obeys US laws. This company is able to freeze your USDC even if it is in a wallet they don’t control. So USDC, while useful, might not be so useful for non-us citizens, especially those born in countries “unfriendly” to the US.

Given you're in a situation very much outside of the norm you can't rely on "traditional"advices on how to allocate your capital. r/investingSee Comment

What about stablecoin investments? Not too costly, not affected by volatility. If you pick a 1 to 1 backed stable like USDC, it should be safe enough. Tops if you set it up on a middleware like Spool Fi or bEarn Fi to earn interest gradually. I know the former has around 10% on a lower risk spool. Other than that, maybe gold? But that's not the best if you want it to last till college etc. Bitcoin is always a good option for long term holds. Index stocks maybe. VTI etc.

It's very young. Eventually the price will stabilize more as (or if) the market cap rises and adoption increases. Or you just store it in USDC on Ethereum and it's value follows the dollar. Bitcoin isn't the only crypto. Anyway, even without that, I'm sure the Venezuelans that experienced 2 million percent inflation would have been perfectly happy with that 70% loss in value. >Also, if you're on a situation where the government is taking over your bank account, you've fucked up and btc won't save you. The government can track that stuff quite easily now and they will take it if they want to If it's really that bad then again, you probably need to get out of the country to some safe haven, and again you can access your funds from there.

USDC will earn over a billion dollars this year just by investing customer deposits into US Treasuries. Their business model is quite simple. Take customer funds, put it in treasuries, pocket the interest. When interest rates are high, the business model is particularly lucrative. This is a great environment for USDC and other collateralized stablecoins.

Think about it , crypto was created so people could buy and sell things , for the most part that’s not happening, people are holding onto it because “number go up “ it’s also not a store of value as we have seen over the last year conclusively. Tether has only had attestations , they claim to have like 135 Billion backing crypto which we all know is false because time and time again they refuse audits . So very much of crypto is just illegal wash trading . They need people like you to believe the lie so you put in actual fiat . Even USDC has not been audited and they’re a stable coin , think about it , why wouldn’t a stable coin be audited ? THATS WHY THEY EXIST !!! Please spend more time being skeptical and get out of the BTC eco chambers , there’s a reason that they ban EVERY LAST person who brings up the downsides to crypto on their subreddits .

Well you can put $10k into an I Bond making about 7-8%. Not much risk there. Then put $10k into a robo invest account with Chase or Wellsfargo or BOA and get about 3-7 % with slightly more risk and easy liquidity. Then you could use $5k to stake USDC or some stable coin for 8-9% with pretty low risk and quick liquidity. Then keep $5k in cash for an emergency. That is about how my portfolio is set up.

Coinbase also does USD-USDC conversions for free. I think USDC won't be that monetized but rather they will earn on stablecoin lending services and general trading fee usage.

USDC != USDT in risk. It’s also arrogant to assume a collapse is 100% going to happen. The crypto space could keep growing and growing for years or decades even.

USDC is run by Circle. I'm not sure Coinbase's exact role but I think they're more like an advisory type role.

There are other reasons to short coin than profitability. Mainly because the [company has a long history of illegal market manipulation](https://www.cftc.gov/PressRoom/PressReleases/8369-21), and there's no reason they've stopped. On top of that, as long as Coinbase mingles crypto with unsecured stablecoins like USDC and USDT, the whole house of cards is ever more fragile. Nobody really knows how little liquidity is actually in the market. Coinbase will be part of the blame when things finally start to collapse. But the problem is, not IF, but WHEN? I wouldn't short Coinbase because I'm not convinced we're near the end of the lunatic obsession with crypto ponzi schemes. It's hard to identify when we run out of "greater fools" in this day and age, and I wouldn't bet anything on it I couldn't afford to lose.

>It's weird how people keep telling me the bitcoins I bought for $60 back in 2013 or $215 in 2015 or even $3500 in 2017 have crashed? Like, jeez, yeah, how am I going to survive each of my bitcoins dropping down to $42k USD. . . . This is called "[Survivorship Bias](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias)" - it's a fallacious line of reasoning. Just because you got lucky and bought something that increased in value, doesn't mean lightning can strike twice. Also, you're ignoring one of the fundamental principals of investing: *Past returns are no guarantee of future performance*. For every $100 you made in crypto, someone else has to lose $100. That's the hard reality. For every guy like you (assuming you're telling the truth, which I don't really believe you're being 100% honest), who thinks you're brilliant, there's at least another guy who bought in or sold at the wrong time and lost money. You're just either intentionally omitting this fact, or oblivious to it. >What kind of gainz are $60 to $42K Those aren't "gains." Until you sell, you don't realize gains. Bernie Madoff's clients thought they were rich too.. until the Ponzi collapsed. There's another thing you're not realizing. **Market liquidity** There's ample [evidence](https://www.cftc.gov/PressRoom/PressReleases/8369-21) the price of crypto has been systematically, continually manipulated by unscrupulous exchanges. We also know there's more than $160B of unsecured stablecoins like USDT and USDC in the market that are responsible for pumping the price of crypto. We also know that even from the very beginning, [the price jumps of bitcoin were phony market manipulations](https://www.investopedia.com/news/bots-drove-bitcoins-150to1000-rise-2013-paper/). Now, I understand you might be confused by what I'm saying here, but you'll also see I'm adding citations to credible articles backing up the claims I'm making. All you're doing is saying, "Durrr!!! I made money. I'm smart. If you disagree ur dumb!" But if you are so inclined, you can look at the actual evidence and see the points I'm making are very legitimate. Whatever amount you think you're "up" in this market is 97% illusion and 3% substance. I can even qualify those numbers with details on investigations into asset-backed stablecoins. But it may not be as appealing as an arbitrary opinion followed by personal insults... so your mileage may vary.

This is stupid Coinbase has USDC, the fifth largest stablecoin and growing. With rates going up they are going to MILK those cash equivalents... On top of that, it looks like BTC is not going anywhere. Its so easy to track that regulators actually like it!

Look up USDC staking for 10% or higher APR. Your son can survive on 6900 at any Community College. Whatever is left over can be staked again. After 2 years 69000 should cover most of his college and in sure you'll have added more to the savings.

It’s no big deal really. Private and Public universities are expensive as shit and they give you no value to enter the workforce. Tell your kid to go to community college and get an internship ASAP and put 5-10% of his income in Bitcoin on Celsius to gain 5% APY, or on USDC on Voyager to gain 9% APR, or on MFA REIT shares or find a Bitcoin miner in your area and see if they have a program you and your son can invest in. Some bitcoin miners who are in the mining farm business can sometimes offer anywhere from 36% - 48% interest rates on your investment in bitcoin. There’s a guy in my city who does this. There’s many ways, but just tell your kid to more importantly not do what you just did right now lol😂.

A lot and still holding all the bags. Biggest loss is BABA with 30 shares averaging $240. Also down 90% on TXMD. Only have about 600 shares of that. Countering those big losses I am still up decent on a few dozen Apple and Microsoft shares. Also my Oil stocks have been doing good. Even if things stay flat dividends and interest should help a lot as I have a good amount in USDC earning 9% interest.

I don’t think anybody has mentioned this but another form of 8% interest is buying Gemini stablecoin - 1:1 with the US dollar - depending on net worth I’m comfortable with putting 50k in there, and keeping it as a savings account - the credit card is also 3% back on everything in USDC (also 1:1 with the US dollar) … I’d re-evaluate adding a bank/savings account to your portfolio.

That’s true. 30% gains with 40% taxes on those gains. The other penny stock I bought which does nothing and then does great and then does nothing again. Is a company in Canada doing geothermal energy. Again though my strategy is long. I’m only 33.. I don’t need the money for a long time. If you want a solid 9% return you could literally just buy USDC.. the index has been earning 13% the past 10 years. I know it’s not 30% gains but after taxes you aren’t too far off

Leaving Block Fi. It was a mistake. Awful website and my $80k in GUSD was moved to a wallet making 0% last month without it catching my attention. Celsius looks better. Opening an account today for the decent APY on USDC. Does anyone use both? Is Celsius much better?

Like the other guy said- coins for 'big name' blockchains like BTC or ETH are probably closer to commodities than traditional stocks. You need to obtain ETH, and feed that ETH to the network in order to get it to do things for you. In order to 'sign smart contracts' (think of it as like an all-in-one legal, judgement, payment, and judgement enforcement system), you have to pay in ETH. You can, for example, use the ETH network to transport 'digital dollars' from A to B which can be traded to say, Coinbase for $1 USD per token at any time. You might have to pay $10 in ETH to secure a USDC transfer from A to B, or even $40 - $70 if traffic is crazy at the time - but that fee must be paid for in ETH. A $70 fee to move $100 sounds ridiculous, but a $70 fee to move $100,000 or $10,000,000 starts to sound less crazy.

These are random facts from Bitcoin shillers that has nothing to do with concerns in the OP's comment. You need a better utilization of your brain. Don't like USDC? Ok, use DAI or UST, which are still better than Bitcoin (can go to zero and wipe out someone's life savings) in this situation. Don't like fiat?! Tough luck, it is still the king.

From Circle: >USDC is fully backed by cash and equivalents and short-duration U.S. Treasuries, so that it is always redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars. Either way, I'll take my wins where I can get them. USD itself isn't even backed 1:1; there aren't even enough physical dollars in existence to match the amount of digitally printed dollars... and the margin is **wide**.

I have an account with crypto.com and they have an earn program that pays 8-12% for stable coins. If you don't know what a stable coin is, it's a crypto currency that is pegged to USD. I use USDC, which is backed 1:1 by Circle. I'm getting paid \~$116 a week that I can then withdraw to my traditional bank account, top up my crypto.com debit card, or save to add to another earn term.

Well if you’re ok with 10-12% annual yield, there are many pretty reputable CEX like crypto.com binance, Gemini nexo Celsius etc that pays that as interest to stake your USDC. Given that it’s your mom’s, volatility is probably not such a good idea so stable coin would be the recommended.

Dai is backed by USDC and ETH and UST is backed by LUNA and also adding BTC more recently. If I were fleeing anywher I would use the BTC base asset except for short term cash. Terra had another pretty close call to a UST death spiral and broke peg a little while back. If there is a bear market I feel much safer about BTC bouncing back long term than any decentralized stablecoin. There is a graveyard of failed stablecoin projects.
