Hey all, so I'm 33 living in the US and I wanted to get advice on my current portfolio. I'm relatively new to investing as a whole so I'm learning a lot as I go and want to avoid any obvious pit traps. I basically already have the mindset of any money I put into this whole venture is spent and gone so I'm pretty risk tolerant. I have a 401k from work with 41k in it and slap in 11% of my paycheck there along with a MMA from my bank that is at a 4.5% if I remember right with almost 4k. I currently have these investments in a Fidelity Individual account: * BBVA - 9.581 shares * FSAGX - 3.388 shares * SPMO - 1.205 shares * UTES - 1.748 shares * VGT - 0.2 shares * VOOG - 0.246 shares I'm able to invest about $300 a month which I am thinking of splitting between my investment portfolio, my newly made Roth IRA account and my MMA. I know that my investments in my Roth IRA should lean more aggressive since it's tax-free. Overall I just wanna know if this is a solid strategy or if I'm on a sinking ship and just don't know it yet.
Fellow spaniard in here. I mean 90% of that has to be from Caixabank BBVA and Santander, crazy run they've had this year specially Caixabank. Otherwise everything has mediocre to dogshit performance lol
Not a penny stock no longer. But SAN is killing it this year. For a bank stock its up 100 percent. SAN and BBVA. They are battling
SMH today's winner $BBVA sigh.....
NVDA wasn’t much of a computer chip company when I bought it at $0.33/share. You invest in company potential. Otherwise stick to ETFs which is always safer. That’s not what OP asked for. As far as products, QBTS is operational with both onsite and web services and a substantial client list that includes Volkswagen, Mastercard, Deloitte, ArcelorMittal, Siemens Healthineers, Unisys, Accenture, BBVA, NEC Corporation, Pattison Food Group, DENSO, and Lockheed Martin. QUBT, Quantum Computing Inc. , is operational in quantum computing and is opening a new photonic chip foundry in AZ this year. Their photonics chips are a huge advancement in optical engines and room temp quantum pairing. They may be the furthest along once their chip foundry is operational this year. Rosetti’s paying client list includes Horizon Quantum Computing, Fermilab, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and the National Quantum Computing Centre. You might want to update your research to at least 2024.
QBTS, D-Wave Quantum had an article by Zack’s talking about their big corporate clients leasing server time and making big upfront payments. Some of their clients… Volkswagen, Mastercard, Deloitte, ArcelorMittal, Siemens Healthineers, Unisys, Accenture, BBVA, NEC Corporation, Pattison Food Group Ltd., DENSO, and Lockheed as well as Martin, Davidson Technologies, NTT DOCOMO Inc., Pusan National University, QuantumBasel, SAS, and Staque. Then they have government entities like Julich Supercomputing Centre, University of Southern California, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. I think the announcement of that list blew the whole sector up this week.
Bloomberg) -- An upbeat earnings report by Nvidia Corp. would bode well for a rally in US equities as investors have about $7 trillion parked in cash funds, according to BBVA strategists. Lord have mercy, if Jensen clutches we are in for the holiest of face rippers

Institutional positioning in the US technology sector is “undemanding” with hedge funds and mutual funds still substantially underweight, strategist Michalis Onisiforou said. Exposure of trend-following Commodity Trading Advisors (CTA) to the broader stock market is also neutral, while volatility control funds have plenty of room to add to risk, he said. “With the institutional length in equities far from exuberance levels,” Onisiforou said the setup favors higher exposure to stocks.
Gold stocks and mining have been great lately besides DAX and BBVA. GGAL. Look at Europe and Latin America.
Is recommendable create a "PIAS" in a BBVA bank? There are other good methods to invest? I'm 20 years old and i have 2500€, and i don't work because i'm studying a high degree. I open a BBVA account and the bank offer me a PIAS, i read and get information of this service, and i feel ok and simple to learn. But is this the best option for me? Is a scam? Invest in gold or in other thing is better?
Hey thanks for the detailed response, maybe BBVA would be a better pick I guess after they bought another big bank
Everyone shares their options, so I will join to this show off: AXA BBVA Harvia Nemetschek Nordea Bank Munich Re Adyen
I’m pretty much a bear on American stocks, because of chaos. I did sell some puts on BBVA bank, as they’re foreign. I think the two advantages are the possibility of the dollar dropping and chaos in our market. If I get it, it pays 6% dividend.
BBAR is the Argentine stock of that bank BBVA is the Spanish one
You mean Galicia? BBVA is from France.
I got 3 shares from BBVA Argentina back in March 2020 when they were $2.65, now it is $16.56 a share. I wish I had bought more ..
Simple bank through BBVA was awesome but got shut down with PNCs acquisition of BBVA unfortunately
There’s no Nu ATMs at the moment. I can’t remember what I read regarding withdrawal fees. It’s free and instant to do bank transfers here, so if I ever need to withdraw from Nu I just transfer to BBVA and withdraw from those ATMs.
Again, that’s because Nu is not a bank, it’s a SOFIPO. The amount insured in actual banks here (BBVA, HSBC, Citibanamex) is much higher. But there not paying you 14%
Stop clearly invest all into Argentian Bank BBVA, a dollar of its 52 week high. Invest in the new chaos market of less gov.
Yeah they do, and that’s helped them out with the Mexican side of their business. Argentina speaks Mexican too, but BBVA (another Spanish bank) apparently has that market cornered better than Santander.
I love using them more than Chase (JPM), BoA, Citi, PNC, BBVA, and of course WF. Their app UI is slick, transfers are quick with my other accts, and have competitive interest rates. They also have fun little things in the app that keep you engaged. Will that be enough? Idk.

Frasier Decimated more than the workforce at Citi. I thank God that I sold my considerable C holding before the pandemic and bought BBVA. Frasier is an unmitigated disaster for C.
The telecommunication group Telefonica is going to explode. The Saudi STC fund bought 10% of the shares weeks ago. 5% belongs to Caixa. Another 5% is held by BBVA and 4.5% by Blackrock. Following STC's entry into the shareholding, the Spanish government has been considering the possibility of entering the company for weeks with the aim of maintaining stability and today it has announced that it is going to buy 10%. Furthermore, blackrock will have to undo short positions if it does not want to stop making money with its shares. A coordinated movement of minorities in conjunction with the purchases carried out by the Spanish government could take the price to the moon with the assurance that the Spanish government will have diamond hands. Just in case I'm going to buy a package
If you want something interesting take a look at NU, they are surpassing banks like BBVA and Santander. Its 95% up.
Mate you’re totally wrong. The op refers to primli DDKKM. They’re giving the %20-30 interest on usd basis at the beginning of account start. So it is accurate. In example: Assume you have 1 million usd in cash account. 1. Bank will give you 300k usd at account opening with 6 months. 2. Your 1 million usd converted to 20mil TRY. 3. at the end of 6 months you’ll get your 1 million usd back no matter what usdtry level is. The only downside risk here is ; Difference between official and street currency level. Because money will be converted in official currency. You may ask why they’re doing this and question legitimate of banks. Reason they’re doing this is to keep account balanced against regulations. If they don’t balance ther account usd versus try they’ll have to buy %8 try bond. Big banks like BBVA HSBC ING in Turkey offered me around %25 interest on usd!!
Not true, i had an account with BBVA in the US, I had negative balance, lost my card, bank shut down and got replaced, I was never contacted by them nor have access to my old account… Fuck ‘em🤷🏻
Ahhh, that makes sense. I was affected by the BBVA Compass merger. Thank you for the info

If you are in the industry, you'll see that only a fraction of software leaders go for Azure over AWS. The quality of the products is night and day. A LOT of Azure's growth percentage numbers are inflated by existing Microsoft legacy customers migrating over to their cloud infra. This has to slow down at some point. There's a reason Azure doesn't break down it's revenue numbers independently. The best we have is this: > Revenue in Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud business segment, which includes the Azure public cloud, Enterprise Services, SQL Server and Windows Server, generated $22.08 billion in revenue I'd be curious to see what percentage of that is Azure alone VS all the other stuff that's been lumped in there. They also don't list companies who migrated over to Azure. Compare that to Amazon, who continue to kill it with new, well known customers being added to AWS everyday. Every quarter, their report lists big name companies who chose AWS. Southwest, ZIG, BBVA, Snowflake, and Stripe, T-mobile and several others were all JUST THIS QUARTER.
BBVA earnings going to be very interesting today. What can they say to affect the banking sector?
🤖 Based on the general observations provided earlier and historical information available up to September 2021, here is a list of 10 banks that may have similar strategies or behaviors. Keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive, and the actual vulnerability of these banks during a high-interest-rate period would depend on various factors, including their specific portfolios and risk management strategies at that time. - Wells Fargo: The bank has faced multiple scandals and regulatory issues in the past and has a significant exposure to the real estate market. - Deutsche Bank: The bank has been involved in various controversies and has a history of risk management issues. - Commerzbank: Another German bank with exposure to real estate and a history of struggling with regulatory issues. - Banco Santander: This Spanish bank has a significant exposure to the real estate market, particularly in Spain and Latin America. - UBS: A Swiss bank with a history of risk management issues and exposure to the real estate market. - Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS): RBS has a significant exposure to real estate and has faced various controversies in the past. - Citigroup: The bank has exposure to real estate and has faced regulatory issues in the past. - Barclays: The British bank has a history of regulatory issues and a significant exposure to the real estate market. - SoftBank Group Corp.: While not a traditional bank, SoftBank is a major investor in technology start-ups and high-growth companies, making it vulnerable to fluctuations in these sectors. - Bank of America: This bank has a significant exposure to real estate and has faced regulatory issues in the past. - UniCredit: An Italian bank with exposure to real estate and a history of regulatory issues. - Credit Agricole: A French bank with exposure to the real estate market and some history of risk management challenges. - Societe Generale: Another French bank with exposure to real estate and past risk management issues. - CaixaBank: A Spanish bank with significant exposure to the real estate market, particularly in Spain. - ING Group: A Dutch bank with exposure to real estate and a history of regulatory issues. - Royal Bank of Canada (RBC): A Canadian bank with exposure to the real estate market, particularly in Canada. - BNP Paribas: A French bank with significant exposure to the real estate market and some history of risk management challenges. - Mizuho Financial Group: A Japanese bank with exposure to real estate and a history of regulatory issues. - Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group: Another Japanese bank with exposure to real estate and a history of risk management challenges. - Goldman Sachs: An American bank with some exposure to high-growth sectors and a history of regulatory issues. - Morgan Stanley: Another American bank with exposure to high-growth sectors and a history of regulatory issues. - Lloyds Banking Group: A British bank with significant exposure to the real estate market and some history of risk management challenges. - Nordea Bank: A Nordic financial services group with exposure to the real estate market, particularly in the Scandinavian region, and a history of regulatory issues. - Standard Chartered: A British bank with exposure to real estate markets, especially in Asia and emerging markets, which could make it vulnerable to fluctuations in these sectors. - BBVA (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria): A Spanish bank with significant exposure to the real estate market, particularly in Spain and Latin America, and some history of risk management challenges. - NatWest Group (formerly Royal Bank of Scotland Group): A British bank with significant exposure to the real estate market and a history of risk management issues and regulatory controversies.
Santander (ES), CaixaBank (ES), and BBVA (ES) too.
I'm in Europe, it's in BBVA, like world's top 40, but still don't feel safe. So how exactly do I park money at treasury's, can I do that with t-bills? Would really appreciate some resources bout, hard to find ecerything in one place
My eyes are on PNC. I want to know what they hold since the purchase of BBVA America in late 2021. Also interested in the former parent from Mexico, Bancomer.
Anyone knows why BBVA is down almost as much as CS? They've been doing better than most Euro banks last year, maybe that's the answer.
Anyone knows why BBVA is down almost as much as CS? They've been doing better than most Euro banks last year, maybe that's the answer.
Anyone done deeper DD on BBVA? Seems a little less shit than most of these European ghost banks
ARGGY Aston Martin Holdings. I’m about to sell though. .99 avg cost to $2.03. BBVA. It’s a bank that owns soccer leagues. Apollo global management. They have the ingénico POS machines at gas stations. I’m cash atm. May begin a SPY daily scalp depending on how well I do on my daily option watchlists.
I think that the current biggest opportunity are retail banks from countries without a housing bubble. The gap between deposits and loans yield got much wider thanks to higher interest rates, but they aren’t exposed to a big increase in debtor defaults. I’m right now invested much in Spanish banks for 3 reasons 1. Very low forward PE ratio (5-10) 2. Biggest banks (BBVA and Santander) are also very geographically diversified in the Americas and some in Europe. I believe that LatAm has good prospects for the next decade, after a mediocre decade. 3. Spain didn’t have a housing bubble like most European countries. And it has the best macroeconomic outlook among West Europe (not expected recession in 2023). Also retail debtor defaults have been much lower than in Europe, even during the worst of the financial crisis, the problem was mostly in real state companies bankruptcies.
European banks are more attractive. Especially Spanish big banks like BBVA and Santander, with PER of 6-7 and with growing net income during last quarters. Those 2 banks are top5 of the eurozone and they are both with big presence in other markets, especially in Latin America, but not only.
Japanese companies are quite cheap now and so are European industrials, so are Latin American and UK stocks Bayer, BASF, Itochu, Mitsui, Glencore, BTI, Vale, Petrobas, Ecopetrol, BBVA
Just noticed an unusually high dividend coming from BBVA (SA). It's $1.79 per share so my small 1000 position is going to earn me more than a thousand dollars? Is this a glitch?
Mizuho or BBVA? Just got two job offers
Anyone in banking? Thoughts on either BBVA or Mizuho? Have offers from the two
Creo que es en México. BBVA Bancomer es el nombre del banco en México. En Argentina creo se llama o se llamaba BBVA Francés, lo recuerdo cuando patrocinaban a River.

I had an account with BBVA and the same thing happened, but I ignored them and didn’t add money and they finally sent a letter that they were going to cancel my account.
Just like my Simple account that got bought by BBVA, then that got bought by PNC, then they started charging a monthly fee, then they charged me an overdraft fee, but I can't cancel the account because it was negative, so I funded just enough to get it positive, but they couldn't cancel the account because the deposit hadn't cleared, then they charged another monthly fee so I was negative, so I made another deposit to bring it positive, then they had a few days with website errors and I couldn't login, finally it's fixed, but it's also a long weekend and I desperately hope I can remember to call Tuesday to cancel the account.
Didn’t BBVA get bought out by PNC bank?
Looking for a good broker in Spain Do you have any recommendations? The best would be if the broker prepares a tax statement at the end of the year, is reasonably cheap, and doesn't do PFOF. The transaction can cost something but not as much as BBVA with 20€ per order.
I notice that you are now criticizing a specific use case rather than criticizing the technology itself, that's a step forward I guess. I suppose me debunking each and every one of your claims over past year has finally made you move the goalpost to something else. 13 years is completely arbitrary. You could have picked literally any number to make whatever point you think you're making. Digital art collection is one use case. I notice that maybe you skipped over the other 2 that I wrote. No matter, I'll post the full list since last time you admitted to not reading it. Indeed, the list has grown so large I'm started to get restricted by reddit's post length reqs. Recently bought 2 banks BBVA & ING. BBVA has no Russian exposure. ING has 1% Russian exposure.
Bought ING on Friday because thought they were a decent buy, has a good dividend, nice volume, and gives me some non-US exposure. If the dividend gets lowered or suspended, still like the stock. They only have 1% exposure to Russia. Think foreign banks are getting unfairly pummeled by the Russian/Ukrainian war of conquest, when they have no or limited Russian exposure. Already on the plus side with ING. Bought INTC last Friday because I wanted some more tech. Though their dividend is sub-standard to me (prefer 4% or better), am looking for them to be more of a growth stock. Already in the green with this. Today bought some more HRZN, already own HTGC,BST, & some HRZN and wanted a little more tech/science in the portfolio. Have owned HRZN before and liked it. At the time liked HTGC better. Now I can have both. Also today bought another foreign bank BBVA. Has European & South American offices. Tad more conservative foreign stock with an okay dividend and decent volume. They also have no Russian exposure. All of these are a hold for at least 9 months to 1 year. Then re-evaluate and see if they are keepers.
Invest in Venezuela. BBVA NBR. NBR go NBRRRRRRR

All banks do online banking (someone will find a counterexample). Some are online-only. ALLY, for instance. But ALLY was GMAC, which was GM's auto-financing division before it was spun off to avoid blowing up all their existing loans while GM was going bankrupt after the 2008 meltdown. So newer online banks are just small banks, many of which are created simply to capture niches of the market and primp themselves for marriage to the banking barons. That's nothing new. Your town probably has a half-dozen B&M banks with names you never hear in the news, and every once in a while one or the other becomes BAC or BBVA or Chase or Wells Fargo. "Fintech" is about as disruptive as "web-enabled" any more. Shit like RKT doing a founder cash-out IPO and positioning themselves as "the Amazon of real estate finance" after two decades of selling mortgages online makes my teeth hurt (hint: nobody wants their bullshit back-end code and they're not going to create a cloud ecosystem like AWS from it). SOFI is a loan backer that wants to be a bank (and is taking forever to get the licensing), not a transformative revolution in banking technology. There's nothing new in banking. Not SOFI, not RKT, not Paypal. Calling themselves "disruptive" is like getting hair plugs and cruising the clubs. Check that. There's one thing that's fairly new. Being able to tap with your phone to make payments at POS terminals is much faster than swiping or inserting a card. But you get that from your phone-OS maker, not your bank. Nobody's buying Google or Apple or Samsung for their banking divisions. And it's fronting for your credit card, so it's not disrupting V or MC or AMEX, either.
I've ducked in and out of too many to list them all. I started with quite a mixed bag of oversold stocks, focusing on the worst hit like retail/oil/banks/insurance.. some other examples are Aviva, BNP Paribas, Mitchell's & Butler's, Marston's, Rolls Royce, Renault and other car manufacturers including PAH3, Mediaset España, KAZ minerals, Eurocommercial Properties, gas/oil & banks & insurance companies... Over time I sold out of a lot of them and concentrated my holdings into the UK/euro banks (mostly Societe Generale) but also others like BBVA, HSBC, ING Groep, some insurance companies like Aegon, Mapfre, with a big side of gas/oil (Gazprom & Shell). I also kept Mediaset España. My portfolio was probably around 60% financials and 35% gas/oil... My thinking was basically that they were the cheapest sectors and had catalysts (like inflation, interest rates, economy opening up .etc). I was cautious in the beginning to spread out and not put all my eggs into one basket, although I would overweight my best ideas, which I found over time usually performed the best, so I started to concentrate more and more on my best ideas and reduce my stocks to the best that I could find. I also started using margin/leverage when I was concentrating on banks/gas/oil.. usually around 100%. Nowadays I pretty much sold everything and went all-in on Card Factory with all the money I accumulated. I also got a €15k loan as a sort of cash reserve and have used it with 100% margin to buy a few other things. In order of current value: Polymetal, Shell, Gazprom, Mediaset España, Banco de Sabadell. I also have a few options contracts which are long on BBVA, Mapfre, Shell & Mediaset España.
Banks (US also European banks like Santander or BBVA which trade in the US through ADRs) are also cheap P/E and P/B wise and are entering a positive cycle with the incoming rate hikes, they are my play of choice.
How about Japanese bank. Shinsei bank, will they be converted to SBI holdings stock? I sure as heck hope so. BBVA is another bet for me with crypto implications I anticipate.
PNC looking good after absorbing BBVA
Dividend stocks are still companies you believe in. BBVA, SAN, MBT, BTI. I like those ones for dividends. You don't need more than 10 companies. each company you own requires at least an hour a week to keep up with, and its a waste of your time to keep up to date with a 500$ position. 10 positions of 2k. please learn what a price to earnings ratio is.
I had Simple>BBVA>PNC…Tell me more
I just got $1500 from a Simple/BBVA bank lawsuit. The only class action lawsuit I’ve ever got involved in.

> Cryptos dont even make any sense What specifically doesn't make sense? > there is absolutely nothing backing up any of them That is demonstrably false. > Also, how many cryptos are there, 1000+? That's completely irrelevant. > Plus the #1 crypto Bitcoin is a terrible waste of energy to mine Lots of things are a waste of energy. Neflix is a waste of energy. Plus the "#2 crypto" will move to PoS consensus early next year and cut energy costs by 99%. > Plus cryptos have only begun to be taxed and regulated and many people holding cryptos are in for the tax evasion and secrecy Most people holding crypto are law abiding, tax-paying citizens. There's no secrecy, it's all on-chain. > At best, cryptos are kind of like casino chips False. > I don't know what will crash cryptos but something will Something will crash anything, given enough time. > I also noticed on Friday that cryptos were no protection against a plummeting stock market, but gold was. Spurious argument. > So what role does crypto even play besides tax evasion? How does one avoid taxes with KYC exchanges and on-chain transactions? Some roles include: exchanges, mortgages, payday loans, bank loans, derivatives, options, prediction markets, distributed compute resources for sale, art marketplaces, gambling, porn, anti-counterfeit supply chain tracking, data marketplaces, insurance, include ownership of collectables, tokens which denote ownership in a protocol, governing or distribution rights of businesses, exchanges of various tokens, provably fair gambling, overcollateralized loans, games, identity management, proving authenticity of news information or videos, provenance of food, low overhead insurance, prediction markets, funding new businesses, organizations that operate based on token voting, public good funding with matching funds based on number of donors rather than amounts, cross-border remittances, writing a memorial to the Chinese Coronavirus whistle-blower doctor that China couldn't remove, and more... > That is, the chain letter or crypto only has value so long as more and more people (suckers, gamblers) are willing to keep sending in more real money. I made good money on BBVA back when it was still allowed on HOOD. Credit Suisse wasn't bad either if I recall. It definitely sucked having to pay double taxes though.
Having suffered through multiple refinances and been stuck with competing underwriters, UWMC has by far the smoothest experience. I told my agent as much and to never put us through Quicken again if at all possible. Over the years, every other company we had to deal with except UWMC pretty much was a fucking retarded nightmare, oh except BBVA but they just got bought by PNC. Probably because they were making PNC look bad and taking business. UWMC was just connecting dots and following the steps each time. Long term, they are a juggernaut. There’s just a shitload of fear right now over whether the global economy is going to tank, waffle, or pop next year.
Don't listen to me, I lick toads. But I like BBAR and BDORY. For absolutely no good reason. I also like BBVA but I have no money left to invest in them cuz I spent it all speculating on furbies.

You are not understanding opportunity cost if over the past year you gained 18% and the exchange rate vs USD or Gold lost 2x%, you lost money by not buying USD or Gold instead. This is why trend following is one of the oldest and most established sources of alpha in investing. Wait for Turkey/Lira to show a reversal and only then put money in. In the meantime you are bleeding opportunity cost. If you have a very long timeframe and are essentially "cost averaging" with your Lira purchases then that's fine, but if you have that view then there are smarter ways to express it than simply buying currency. If you think Turkey will reverse sometime in the next decade and show strength, there are places in the derivatives market that will have convexity and pay you handsomely for committing to such a view with a long time horizon. I don't specifically know Turkey aside from some Turkish friends I've questioned, as well as a BBVA investment last year, but I'm immediately getting some red flags as a derivatives trader. I think you have a long term view that Turkey will stabilize and recover, and I think there are some trades that have convexity and asymmetric properties that could provide you with better return if your views come to fruition. They may also be more efficient, so you could dedicate a smaller slice of your holdings to Turkey and get an equivalent exposure. Forex is going to be very sharp and dominated by entities that listen to every central bank speech and are firmly within the institutional arena. I would not want to be involved in Forex speculatively as retail. Find an entity that suffers if Turkish monetary policy continues to be a joke, write 2 year dated puts on it with a few percent of your investment account, and put the other 97% in solid investments. There you go. You have concentrated exposure to Turkey, are profiting from the uncertainty (nobody else will take your short put trade), and have more of your money to put into Apple or whatever strong investment you have commitment to. High risk should be more concentrated and more quarantined from the portfolio.
Yea that is PNC bank territory. They would give you the best bank location coverage in your region + with the merger with BBVA will give it branches across the South and the West coast. I just haven't honestly heard much good about its brokerage. They only have about $250 billion assets under management (AUM), which is actually small. Merrill Lynch/Edge is close to $3 Trillion in AUM. Charles Schwab has $4 Trillion in AUM. TD Ameritrade has $1.3 Trillion in AUM. Fidelity has $4.9 Trillion in AUM. (Robinhood is $20 billion in AUM and; Betterment is $20 billion; Acorns $3 billion, Sofi is still below $1 billion in AUM) These new social media based investment options just don't managed that much. It might be good when you're starting out and starting small, but the larger platforms are going to have more resources and more options.
Wait I made money? Sweet. I ye yeeeed my entire bank balance into BB stock because my bank Simple Banking shut down, their new owners BBVA are making is freaking impossible to close the account, so I just spent everything at once with the intent of taking a loss when it transfers. Instead to my surprise its in the green 😶
Yeah that's definitely the average. I've been getting ads lately from HMBradley which has savings tiers based on the percentage of your income you save, up to 3% if you save 20% of your income. (This can be manipulated if your employer lets you split your deposit across multiple banks like mine does, simply deposit no more than 6x what you want to save into HMBradley and then deposit the rest elsewhere so it looks like you're saving 20%.) And One, which is of those, "financial service technology" banks (I think of them like the Republic Wireless and Boost Mobile of banks, an actual FDIC bank is providing the infrastructure and they're just sort of operating a digital only bank on top as a kind of authorized reseller - Simple on BBVA and Chime on Bancorp are the same type of deal) has also been showing me a similar offer where if you set up your direct deposits to automatically transfer to savings, you earn 3% on the savings. That one maxes out at no more than 10% of your total deposits qualifying, but you get the 3% rate even if you only save 1% instead of having to hit a minimum savings rate to qualify.
BBVA is the shadiest bank I’ve ever had. Worse than Wells Fargo. Fuck this company 😒
A little tip: Spanish BBVA bank owns 5 percent of COIN through their pe vehicle Propel Ventures. If COIN reaches a 100 B marketcap, BBVA (with a market cap of 30 B) will have multiplied their investment by 100x.
Seems fairly reasonable to say "if you're acting like a bank then you should be subject to the same regulations as a bank", yes? I find very little to disagree with here: A few items need further explanation. On capital requirements, you should always remember that the market determines this level, not regulators, and to the extent that capital requirements in one entity are much higher than another, activities will move. Ironically, because standardized capital and G-SIFI capital do not recognize credit risk, banks have a peculiar incentive to hold higher risk credit rather than lower risk credit. All companies have operational risk, and most companies absorb operating losses through earnings. Banks are required to hold substantial capital against this risk. (I’m not debating that there is operational risk.) And because of the Durbin Amendment, if a bank has a customer with a small checking account who spends $20,000 a year on a debit card, the bank will only receive $120 in debit revenue – while a small bank or nonbank would receive $240. This difference may determine whether you can even compete in certain customer segments. It’s important to note that while some of the fintechs have done an excellent job, they may actually be more expensive to the customer. It's important to note that uneven application of things like the Durbin amendment has created an environment where the consumer actually has less choice than they have in the past. Because large regional/national banks cannot create a sufficiently profitable product for smaller banking clients those clients are often times left with having to choose FinTech/small banks simply to utilize a more consumer friendly product. And one that will evaporate as regulation is more evenly applied - The online bank Simple closed it's doors after merging with BBVA, because Durbin regulations made them unprofitable. BankMobile was spun off from it's parent bank specifically because they surpassed the Durbin threshold. https://www.spglobal.com/marketintelligence/en/news-insights/latest-news-headlines/bankmobile-digs-in-on-banking-as-a-service-model-in-independence-59939878 I mean at the end of the day Dimon is right, these regulations, and the exceptions inadvertently given to shadow/fintech, are changing the landscape of the industry and it's hard to argue that less choice is somehow a benefit to anyone.
European banks like BBVA, Unicredit have quite large amounts of loans in Turkey.
I researched European banks active in turkey. Spanish BBVA has around 39 Bio EUR in loans in turkey: https://www.google.de/amp/s/www.bbva.com/en/tr/garanti-bbva-supports-the-turkish-economy-with-tl-49-billion-increase-in-loans-defers-payments-on-over-800000-loans/amp/ So are we going to see some bank failures and 2008 all over again?
I use wire transfers on TD Ameritrade. Money gets into my TDA account in 1.5-2 hours. If I go to my bank (BBVA Compass) in person they charge me $30/transfer to do a wire transfer, but I set it up in the "Transfers" section of my online bank account, and doing it from there costs me $15/transfer. I used the "Wire transfer" instructions here to set it up: [https://invest.ameritrade.com/grid/p/site#r=deposits](https://invest.ameritrade.com/grid/p/site#r=deposits)
Couldn’t find anything better, wanted to find the banks that would be exposed to Turkish debt. BBVA in Spain and Italian UniCredit - who would have guessed. Puts on Europe, what if this whole thing blows up and we get a 2nd Euro-Crisis
(Reuters) - Turkey's economic crisis poses a threat to European banks with business in the country. Spain's BBVA (BBVA.MC), Italy's UniCredit (CRDI.MI), France's BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA), Dutch bank ING (INGA.AS) and Britain's HSBC (HSBA.L) are the most exposed to Turkey and vulnerable to its free-falling currency.
