Meanwhile I just saw two videos of waymo safely swerving around wrong way drivers and people quickly merging into its lane. LiDAR and mapping aren’t necessarily technologically linked. Waymo had very long and extensive test programs, lots of mapping, lots of professional testers riding along with the vehicles professionally reporting and categorizing training data, and lidar, all of this to reach the goal of robotaxi, Which they’ve accomplished. Tesla hasn’t, And they won’t for years at this rate. Lidar seems to be one of the required recipes for robo taxi. I don’t believe road mapping is necessary but it might be something waymo decides to continue. Either way there’s no fucking short cuts in this race. 5 years ago Tesla slapped its 10 webcams on the table and said it can do the same thing the LiDAR can do with the right training models, they’ve gotten kinda close but close is only good with horse shoes and hand grenades not automated driving. If corporate taxes get cut the same amount tariffs are raised or more, it incentivizes companies to manufacture their products in the US instead, which would increase the amount of jobs, or keep them the same. Of course this depends on the amount of tariffs, what sort of product is being tariffed, and how much the tax cut is. There are a lot of variables, but simple economics says if something is cheaper for a business, they will do it. If the US tax code allows manufacturing to be cheaper than paying tariffs, businesses will move to the US. Its the exact reason Japan, Korea, & Germany almost exclusively have NATIVE PRODUCED CARS. You’ll see very few foreign cars on the road. They charge tariffs to foreign car companies, and therefore they manufacture in their own country. Its exactly what destroyed the rustbelt.
