Is Clean Harbors (CLH) is the next US Ecology (ECOL)?

Call on CLH and DBA LEAPS. Puts on Hershy and Mondelez. The beef situation was more a La Niña droughts, not El Niño, so I guess that was outside of the scope.
I did not realize Waste Management (WM) was down and will consider it again soon. In that Sector, I like WM the best. I like Clean Harbors (CLH) a very specialty hazardous waste disposal company, great disposal facilities, etc. too but I like WM better. I do like Republic Services (RSG) because of their strength in landfills. Regarding your question I think these are slower growth stocks that pay a dividend and they are in an industry that is difficult for new businesses to enter. Thus an advantage. There will always be a need for residential, business and hazardous waste disposal.
Happens man. Also CLH reported this morning. Great company too.
CLH is clean harbors. They are a waste and water stock. Maybe the wrong ticker.
Does anyone have any insights into Charles River $CLH? Their earnings seemed mixed. The reason for the asking is with the increase in development of AI and the possibility of it assisting biotech/pharma, I'm betting this will be a huge benefit to $CLH. This is just a theory and a thought right now.
Pardon my lack of regardless, but what am I looking at CLH6 is crude and NQH6 are Nasdaq futures? So he went long on both way otm?
# awwssssht not again. light sweet cr00d oil drilling. # drilling hard. like, real hard. look at /CLH6. my anoos is getting gaped. no l00b.

$CLH Q1 EPS $1.09, consensus $1.05 Reports Q1 revenue $1.43B, consensus $1.44B. "We began 2025 with a solid, first-quarter performance as our Environmental Services segment closed Q1 with a strong March helping to overcome unfavorable weather impacts early in the quarter and results in our Safety-Kleen Sustainability Solutions segment exceeded our expectations," said Mike Battles, Co-CEO.
Even with CLH, that sale off of earnings yesterday sucked lol.
Today is painful. Only VRTX, MELI, and CLH are trying to help the team by being green today. I opened positions in FIX and BRKR this morning. Already down in both of course.
We‘re doing a 2 week CME trading challenge in Derivatives… I bought ESH5, CLH5 and ZCH5 for tonight. Any trade ideas for the coming days?
CLH has a legal monopoly and are building reinvesting and have all the markets share! Not a super fast mover. Safe bet with a 12-15% Roi annually.
QQQ , Tesla , Qubt , CLH , Bitcoin, Solana, Mara, Bonk, Mog
2x ? Give me $WM - Waste Management, or $CLH - Clean Harbors alllllll day There will always be waste, and these guys along with Republic, and Waste Connections are more or less then only show in town. They own the landfills, and incinerators (super expensive, lots of permits) so they control pricing. They sell to the gov for a ton of their business (long contracts), and even if tech bubble bursts….theres still trash to pick up so these guys generally don’t get hit hard. Also they are stupid profitable. CLH is basically a money printer. Lastly, presumably Trump administration is going to loosen environmental policies which in theory should lower some operational costs for these guys. So yeah Trash. These two make up my entire brokerage outside of 401k so I’m practicing what I preach!
Clean Harbors (CLH) - hazardous waste disposal Casey's General Stores(CASY) - gas station chain with really good pizza Both of these have out performed VOO over the last 5+ years.
CLH clean harbors is an actual example of this
Market isn’t happy with CLH numbers this morning. However DRS is looking solid.
I love CLH - Clean Harbors Industrial waste cleanup - things like oil spill cleanup, medical hazardous waste, etc Super profitable and great moat as you have to have incinerators and special permits and landfills to do what they do. Up 66% in last year but still only $13.9B market cap whereas peers like WM and Republic Services are $85B and $65B respectively. (Slightly different service but similar)
Look into nuclear waste companies. CLH is nice
Sell CLH and HOOD. Put it into VTI. Keep Google.
i assume you find older picks like MUSA, COKE, CLH, HWKN, KNSL, HPS-A too expensive
I'm not sure these are great buys today, but KNSL and HWKN both had solid earnings. UFPT and MEDP also had good reports, but we're probably overpriced going in. EXP and CLH both put up great reports too.
Thanks. What about CLH for a long hold?
HWKN, AMSC, and NSSC having superb days. Apparently that insider buying on Hawkins was on to something.... Might trim CLH, it's an absolutely fabulous company I've owned for a few years, but it's trading really rich right now. Maybe a 10% trim or so....
Managed to start a position in NU today. Nice little dip on the Mexican election. I love the play on Latin America and given forward estimates trading at around 10x 2026 earnings, which I'm happy to pay. I've also been loving the grind higher for both CLH and VRTX. Both are kinda getting expensive, but happy to have both in the portfolio.
RSG and CLH are my favorites, WM is good tho
2 other notes.... WM acquired stericycle, which was one of the names Peter Lynch featured prominently. At one point there were rumors the WM was going after CLH, but I'm guessing that's not happening anymore, which I'm fine with. All three Mexican airports closed down between 10-13%. These stocks freak out every time there's a political change (even when Trump was elected) and tend to bounce back because no one really wants to get rid of what seems to be working well. There's always risk with Mexico, but I think they're interesting ways to play the nation developing. I bought PAC on the last dip, but I did have to sell later for reasons unrelated to the company.
>anything ex tech go up anymore HWKN, UFPT, CLH, VRTX....... So, yeah. Definitely.
Found a long form breakdown of [CLH](https://open.substack.com/pub/valueb9b/p/clean-harbors-diamond-in-the-making?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=23ti9i) this morning. Great read if you're interested in the company.
Nice earnings boost for CLH, but it couldn't quite break out from previous highs. Probably fine, it's not really that cheap anymore. We'll see what happens in the next few days. UFPT earnings had a great reaction. Not too surprising, they knocked it out of the park. I read through the KNSL earnings call. The slower growth estimates are inline with what was said. Management is basically taking a more cautious path forward because they see potential froth ahead. They'd rather be cautious than reckless. Good things from the long term. The stock had a nice bump today, but was oversold. Watching, but not adding yet.
CLH does a [huge chunk](https://www.cleanharbors.com/GA/PFAS-Removal-And-Treatment-Services) of PFAS removal. Not just in water, but in soils too.
I really like the following from the CLH earnings: "The pipeline of potential remediation projects is expanding, particularly in light of emerging PFAS regulations and newly released infrastructure funds." Their PFAS business doesn't get a lot of attention, but could be a really big growth driver if any regulation comes into effect.
$CLH Clean Harbors Q1 adjusted EPS $1.29, consensus $1.16 Reports Q1 revenue $1.38B, consensus $1.34B. “Strong demand for our services resulted in a better-than-expected performance in the first quarter” said Mike Battles, co-CEO. “We delivered record Q1 Adjusted EBITDA, driving year-over-year margin improvement. Our Environmental Services (ES) segment once again led the way. ES continues to benefit from a growing interest in our broad array of services, high-value disposal and recycling waste streams, pricing execution and an expanding project pipeline, fueled by customer demand. Although the Safety-Kleen Sustainability Solutions (SKSS) segment started slowly in Q1, recent improvements in base oil pricing and ongoing initiatives are encouraging. As always, safety is our first priority. We achieved a good start to the year with a first-quarter Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.69”
I keep forgetting I'm holding a small position in CLH. Saw them featured in a CNBC documentary on energy a year or two ago and impulse bought. Hell of a fuckin' 5y chart for a clean up company lol

$5k in CLH $100 calls and TSLA $150 puts. Inverse me if you want to make money
So utilities are different, think of them as a monopoly that the government allows to happen. Waste management companies, recycling companies, etc are not always like that. There are certainly scenarios where a garbage company wins a contract to be the exclusive service provider within a district for a number of years or something but that is not always the case. It is possible for more than one company to operate in a geographical zone and they can target different customer bases. They compete with one another for business. Some of them work with local governments, others work with small businesses, others work with individual home owners, others work with industrial waste or factories or have contracts with the government to dispose of stuff, even nuclear waste in some cases. Sometimes they are specialized, or maybe they are a large company that has various specialized units that are licensed to dispose of specific types of waste. From my research, which I admit is amateur at best and I am certainly not a professional investor in any way, some of these companies are run fairly responsibly. They are viewed as stable because they are not tightly correlated to “the market” (there are differing opinions on this and also instances where this is not true, historically). They (generally speaking) don’t have years where they go absolutely gangbusters (there are of course exceptions to this as well) but they also don’t have years where their business goes completely belly up (again, do research and see for yourself). They just consistently do “pretty well”. Also, it is a difficult business to break into (high cost of entry, etc), so the established players are pretty established. Think of it like Home Depot vs Lowe’s or Coca Cola vs Pepsi. They compete against one another. And as an investor, you can benefit from holding shares in both sides of this competition. When HD does well, generally Lowe’s is doing fairly well too; when one is not doing well, the same is generally true for the other. It’s the same theory. Buy WM and also buy RSG, WCN, or CLH.
CLH down 60%. Any news on it?
CLH has been such a beast of a stock to own.
CLH earnings: Posts Q4 Revenue of $1.34 Billion, up 5%; Full-Year Revenues of $5.41 Billion Generates Q4 Net Income of $98.3 Million, or EPS of $1.81; Adjusted EPS of $1.82; Full-Year Net Income of $377.9 Million, or EPS of $6.95; Adjusted EPS of $6.99 Achieves Q4 Adjusted EBITDA of $254.9 Million, up 14%; Generates Full-Year Adjusted EBITDA of $1.013 Billion Delivers Full-Year Net Cash from Operating Activities of $734.6 Million and Adjusted Free Cash Flow of $321.9 Million.
Market seems to like the CLH news.
So what happens to my call when /CLH4 is rolled over ? Is options price sensitive to future contract price ?
Seems many comments thinks options on futures are same as stock options. so i have couple questions to better understand, if you can help me with this please. 1- /CLH4 - is Light Sweet Crude Oil Futures March 24, even if this is March contract, there is options available until January 25, shouldn't these options based on March contract price ? 2- if the contract is rolledover, how this will impact my CALLS as an example ? 3- if i buy 2025 CALLS, will Oil future options moves with Crude Oil price ? or is it like VIX options where long dated options are not correlated with current VIX prices, instead they converge through time to the spot price ?
Always forget you're also in CLH :) We probably own like .00001% of the company between the two of us lol.
Sort of. My big winner is Hammond power, up over 4%. SCCO also up over 2%. CLH and CP also pulling some weight. It's actually a very broad gainer of a day.
CLH is one of my favorite stocks * Small market cap (8B) * >20% YoY revenue growth with expanding net profit margins * Decreasing shares outstanding YoY through buybacks * Relatively low PE for their sector (PE=24, as compared to 31 for WM and RS)
Out of my two longer term accounts: ATKR, MEDP - both are around 14%, but that's from just growth and not trimming winners. STLR, CLH are around 12% in the account.
$CLH with a nice price target raise: [https://www.marketbeat.com/instant-alerts/nyse-clh-boost-price-target-2023-12-19/](https://www.marketbeat.com/instant-alerts/nyse-clh-boost-price-target-2023-12-19/) Still one of my favorite longs.
Someone in the dailys a while ago recommend BLDR back in like the 50s. There is actually some solid recommendation that happen here. I first found CLH in this sub, which has been an amazing purchase.
my $CLH still risinf after the good news yesterday
today 0.83% portfolio gain and finally in the green zone with $CLH
today first gains for my $CLH Clean Harbors
DECK is an example. They make Uggs and Hoka and have been a better performing stock than almost all of fang for the past 5 years. ANET is growing like double digits and do networking for data centers. Better performance than some of FAANG over the last five years. CLH does industrial waste management and fantastic returns. AIT does like transmission fluids and things for industrial automation. Another amazing company. WIRE, they sell aluminum and copper wire. Amazing returns for the past 5 years. FIX does like electrical and plumbing. Another great compounder. CARR they sale HVAC equipment. Great compounder. That’s like 8 right there.
yesterday and today averaged down a few stocks. Could no longer resist and it already paid out. $CLH was hit hard and I bought some more and they are up 4.3% today.
It's hard to say. Personally, I think it doesn't make too much sense to pay attention to day to movement. Usually with earnings, they tend to be a cataylst to move a stock price. Like in theory, every earnings report changes fundementals of the stock. No idea why it's down now, but earnings were still pretty good. A good example of this, CLH reported yesterday and the stock was down like 6% and now it's up like 5% today.
CLH earnings Delivers Q3 Revenue of $1.37 Billion on Growth in Environmental Services Achieves Q3 Net Income of $91.3 Million, or EPS of $1.68 Generates Q3 Adjusted EBITDA of $255.0 Million Revises 2023 Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted Free Cash Flow Guidance "While underlying business conditions remain favorable, our third-quarter results fell short of expectations primarily due to plant challenges within both our incinerators and re-refineries," said Mike Battles, Co-Chief Executive Officer. "In the third quarter, we pulled forward an incinerator turnaround planned for October at our Arkansas facility. The resulting backup within our disposal network also impacted our Technical Services business. Within our Safety-Kleen Sustainability Solutions (SKSS) segment, we had lower-than-expected production, which led to lower sales volumes of base oil and higher costs. From a safety perspective, we posted a third-quarter best Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.62 to remain on track to hit our annual safety goal." Third-Quarter Results Revenues were $1.37 billion compared with $1.36 billion in the same period of 2022. Income from operations was $154.4 million compared with $209.1 million in the third quarter of 2022. Net income was $91.3 million, or $1.68 per diluted share. This compared with net income of $135.8 million, or $2.50 per diluted share, for the same period in 2022. Adjusted net income in the third quarter of 2022 was $132.4 million, or $2.43 per diluted share. (See reconciliation tables below). Adjusted EBITDA (see description below) was $255.0 million compared with $308.6 million in the same period of 2022 when SKSS delivered record results on an outsized re-refining spread.
So, my actual controlled part my portfolio is what I'll refer to. Most of holdings are in index funds because my retirement account options are limited. I control about 10-15% (depending on how things have been doing.) My top 5 individual names right now: MPC (7.3%) CLH (6.2%) VRTX (5.7%) FANG (5.4%) HWKN (4.4%) The top 4 are all longer term (2+ year) holds. HWKN is just a big bet that's paying off lately.
Using DKNG as a barometer for the market seems a bit shaky. Energy has been doing great, ditto commodities. Here's a few near ATH from my portfolio: AMR, VRTX, USLM, CPRT, MPC, FANG, CLH, COKE.... There's plenty of stocks doing fine. If you bought a bunch of over hyped speculation in 2021, it might feel bad. Don't make false claims about the entire market being at the low (except tech) to justify it though.
Hold on.... From my portfolio alone.... AGM +38% YTD AMR +66% YTD AOS +14% YTD CLH +45% YTD COKE +27% YTD I got tired after the C's.....you get the point.
I own CP, CLH, NSSC, and AOS (thinking of dropping the last one). Watching CPRT, CSWI, GWW, AIT, ITW, ROK. Plus others. It's a very diverse sector and some names can be lumped in different places.
I heard a story this morning about the changing recycling market worldwide. https://www.fool.com/podcasts/motley-fool-money/2023-09-06-airbnb-leaves-nyc-joins-s-p-500 Other than WM does anyone have any promising waste management stocks? I own CLH in large quantities. KAI is a growing small cap that makes recycling sorting equipment.
My PLAB position is getting crushed today, but my other accounts are in the green. PLPC, CLH, CWCO are my big winners for the day
Yes, that's why I'm invested in CLH. Not completely e-waste, but they deal with industrial waste.
Same lol. They way the fidelity desktop is laid out, they don't show the markets unless you are on the all acounts tabs. Funny enough, all my positions are green besides STM and CLMB. Biggest winners are LMB, RKLB, CWCO, CLH, PLAB Yeah I own a lot of not covered/talked about companies, that will with physical data center, eletrictification, reshoring, hvac and infrastructure spend.
HWKN is my big winner, but CLH, MUSA, AGM, HIFS and UFPT are all solid entrants as well.
Always makes me a bit nervous lol. Having a solid day with $PLPC, $CLH, $FIX, $STRL, $LMB, $RLKB,
Anyone reason you are watching STRL and CLH this week? I have long positions in both and both have already announced earnings. Any news or anything?
Which sector/stocks are you eyeing on for the week? -TRGP: nat gas resources -STRL : infrastructures - CLH: recycle industrial services.
Yeah they popped up on my screener and as a fan of CLH, seemed somewhat similar. Looking at tbt last two quarters, growth seems there and they seem be doing some M&A. Think I might pull the trigger since there was an earnings explosion and then the pullback.
Always a nice day when your two biggest positions (CLH and MPC) hit new ATHs. Stinks when 3 and 5 (DAR and UFPT) try to cancel it out.
Not sure if it's a favorite, but going to hold for the next few years. I really like the HVAC space. I'm getting really bullish on CARR and what they are doing as company. I'm starting to look into $CLMB. Just release their earnings, they missed analyst numbers on revenue, but even their numbers, they are up like 20% YoY. It's pretty cheap from fundementals as well. Also really like $AGCO, but it's goign to be a patience game on that one. The market is pretty bearish on agriculture equipment, so it might take time for the stock to do something, but it's a really well ran company at a great price. STRL is one my favorites, but they just blew up post earnings. They are buildling out a lot of e-infrastructure, which is like data centers and they are building the new Hydai battery factory. CLH such a great company and always holds a fair to cheap valuation. One of those names to ever buy on dips. Problem is a lot of names have had great runs and valuations have gone up with what I've owned. I haven't really bought much recently. $CLMB is looking good. $DIOD is also looking interesting at these levels. It's getting super cheap. Looks like business is slowing, but they are a chip company and they go through cycles, where you want to buy at the bottom of the cycle. Not sure if we are there yet, but it's another solid company at a cheap price. Please, always look into these companies and do your DD whenever someone mentions a name here. LIke some of the names I've owned in the past have bombed as well.
They are being bought out, but I assume they will talk about the the buyout but also business. Since we own CLH, it offers more insight into the industry. Also someone who follows the industrials, I like to follow and read reports from companies that impact or offer more insight into things I follow.
Yeah, it's always shady. It's always stated in the earnings reports. It's actually my only pet peeve with CLH. I generally hate adjusted earnings.
CLH earnings Grows Q2 Revenue to $1.4 Billion on Continued Strength in Environmental Services Generates Q2 Net Income of $115.8 Million, or EPS and Adjusted EPS of $2.13 Delivers Q2 Adjusted EBITDA of $287.5 Million Reiterates 2023 Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted Free Cash Flow Guidance
The price had already gone up a ton, it had already almost doubled. Also, construction spending is generally about 18 months behind the economy, so I was thinking we're in "peak construction" right about now. Been a bit off on that so far. I have other plays too. CVCO and AOS on the residential side. CLH for industrial.
CLH too, which is kinda of tangential to the field.
I like trying to defend unloved stocks on occasion, at least if it's something I'm personally bullish on. It helps test my thesis on the name. I'll take a few down votes if needed. It's funny how sentiment here can change too. I remember being dismissed for pitching coal as an investment a year ago, now there's a little club. CLH was panned too, but now there's a few people who own it.
COKE, MUSA, CACI, and CLH are my mid cap anchors right now. Just solid companies that grind higher.
Funny enough CLH is one of the companies I’ll bring up time to time in the daily.
Nice thanks. I like CASY, RSG, and CLH as companies that I own not in the SP500.
I'm long CLH, love them. They've had an impressive run, but the fundamentals still make it not very expensive. Not terrible name to buy on any dips.
TDY, CPRT, TXRH, CLH, MODG - Most of those are still too high for my liking or are making new ath but have not had weakness to nibble into
CLH having a great day on the back of the HCCI sale. I love this company.
Also a long on CLH, that’s why I never opened the position, but always had on my watchlist.
That company always seemed cheap, but since I own CLH I wasn't really interested. Oh well.
Well yeah.... there's a lot out there though, especially small caps. Just in my portfolio (P/E under 30): HWKN UFPT CVCO CLH MUSA And depending on your definition of crazy NSSC From my watchlist USLM IESC MEDP There's a lot out there.
I've been eyeing OMAB, and KOF as mexico plays. CLH and CP are some on the north side of the border.
For sure. I would say for every 25 mentioned reddit stocks, I'll find one interesting to me. I don't automatically buy on a reddit recommendation, I research the heck out of it and then buy. Some of my best purchase based on daily discussion mentions from r/stocks -STRL -LPLA -AGCO -CLH -USLM All bought low and have fantastic returns. I owe a lot to the geniuses hanging about reddit.
I've recommed some great succesess, also a few failures. The one I found from someone else that was the most successful was CLH.
$CLH still remains on of my best purchases. Even with it's great performance, it still trades at a fair evaulation.
Second on CLH. They are industrial focused instead of residential, so, it can be more cyclical. However, great moats and long term contracts really help their business.
Not too familiar with RSG, but I’m long in CLH. One of my investment thesis is reshoring and infrastructure spending. Companies in these spaces seem to be doing well.
UFPT now passing CLH as my largest individual position. Solid.
I only got JBL when it had a pretty big dip. It was in the upper 70s just a few weeks ago. I probably wouldn't buy at these levels, but I pulled the trigger then. CLH is one my favorite companies I own.
