I'm 65, retired for the years, I had heard the mark was a net worth of 1.2 million, but that really depends on your planned draw after you retire. I hit 1 million at 50, 2 million at 60. 7% yearly was as good as I knew at the time. Retired at 62 with 2.2. am 65 and into VTSAX, FSK, VWUAX. got lucky having bought Nvidia at $10 for 1000 shares, stupidly sold at 110, because advisors valued the stock at $90. It'd be over 10x if I held. Bought Oracle at $4 so many years ago, bought AMD at $10, sold a week later at $110. I do have a bunch of my IRA in the standard retirement funds. We live of of one that is worth $500k and hasn't been reduced in the years of retirement and all the others are growing. 65 and net worth had grown to 3.2 million. My biggest mistake was putting to much into retirement funds and not enough into ROTH. Here is what I think you should do: 1) calculate the top of the 12% tax bracket, married it's somewhere around $126.95k 96,950 +30,000 2) always do the company match, but try not to put any of your income upto #1 amount into your 401k. Put in to reduce your yearly income to the #1 amount. 3) instead invest it personally, when you retire you live off this amount, and take the full 12% amount and roll it into your ROTH. You can write a check, pay the taxes (20%) add that 20% from your savings, and roll it all into your ROTH I have about 1.8 million in IRAs, and I'm going to have a really hard time spending that without paying 22% taxes to gain access to it. I could have had alot of that in personal investments had I not been so aggressively adding to my 401k.

No, I don't do things like that. I contacted Schwab and they said if I go into their system and vote the calls will stop. They want me to vote on the decision to allow Ares to sell stock below NAV value if they need to. Guess a yearly thing. I also emailed Ares investor relations and nice person responded that they were glad I informed them of the frequency that D.F. King was calling me and would ask them to stop. Plus they said if I vote they would stop to but was apologetic. They confirmed the same reason for the calls. Funny enough after I voted, note I did block their number that day, still got an email from Schwab asking me to vote. Hopefully there is a delay between voting and taking you off the not voted list. Not sure if this is something with BDC. My FSK stock they are not calling but emailing me daily about voting as well.

Replace some of the pcash with a mix of the following: FLTR, GSY, ARCC, BXSL, FSK, PBR.

r/investingSee Comment

Yes you are overreacting. To time the market you have to get it right TWICE. Once getting out and again getting back in. Lets suppose you sell now with the S&P 500 at 6070 and, next week somebody looking at the same news, says, the biggest danger Apple, Google, Amazon and NVDA were facing was Antitrust and in Trump administration is gutting consumer protection and their justice department just does not care. You might be a centrist feeling edgy about current President and others are thinking, he might be bad for some but will be good for Banks, Oil Companies, and most of the Mag 7. If you sell now and the market heads up to 6500, you don't get back those gains you missed and you realize capital gains NOW. If you are anxious do not sell all of your equities. Reallocate 5% of your VOO into a S&P 500 equal weight, and put some new cash that you would otherwise park in the S&P into a less correlated asset like ARCC, BXSL, FSK or even short term debt ETF like FLTR. An aircraft carrier does not turn on a time, and neither should you. If the market goes down 20% buy quality when it is on sale, but I think the worst we could see in 2025 is the Dow going back down to 40,000.

r/investingSee Comment

If you want an ETF holding very short duration debt so that you get have very little share price volatility (not as good as a money market with constant $1.00 share price but close) that throws off a yield in the 5.5% to 6% zone look at GSY and FLTR. If want a little more risk and higher yield put a $125k of your $500k into a mix of business development companies (BDCs) like ARCC, FSK, and BXSL that yield in the 8% to 11% range.

SFL ship finance limited. They own ships and charter them out to people. They have a good variety including the usuals like car/bulk carriers and container ships, but also things like a jack up and a semisubmersable offshore drill rigs. It's like 5% of my portfolio. Then there is ARCH Arch resources. They're a coal miner and also have some stock in a coal port that was one of the ones that did not get blocked off when the FSK bridge went down. They're hated so much but they pay good money and they grew so much they are over weight in my portfolio by a lot.

No I understand that, but I feel like your opportunity cost is higher than potential returns, given the time horizon on the investment. Like unless they cut rates in the next couple of months, you could just pump into a strong dividend stock (FSK for example) and probably make a higher % return. Ofc if the US economy is going to implode then I suppose TLT is a great bet ha

FSK. BDC with floating rate investments. Sitting at a 14.5% dividend yield and a ~20% discount to NAV. Haters will says they are taking losses on some of their book, but that was due to the legacy FS manager, not the new KKR manager who has a much better track record. It pays my rent every month (no joke).

Buy FSK. Gives you around $7k each year on dividends. That is more than what you pay for rent. Now if you put that rent money back in the same stock each month, you’ll have $142k in 5 years. $326k in 10 years. Assuming you are 30 years old, if you do all of this in your roth IRA account, in 30 years you’ll have $5.75 million in your account, TAX FREE.

https://valueinvesting.io/FSR/probability-of-bankruptcy There are many measures you can use to "predict" the possibility of bankruptcy this is just one. But in general they face many headwinds, they are close to $1 making it a delisting risk. They need capital making it a dillution risk. At this point many EV makers are household names, FSK is not. Not saying it can't work out or turn around, but I wouldn't bet on it.

As a long term investor in FSK, I've been hearing "squeeze" is coming for several YEARS now. I'd love it, my down 95% portfolio would blow a load over it, but the sad reality is, every time this thing goes up a bit, it gets knocked down 25% lower than it was before a slight rise. up to 8... knock to 6 and change up over 6 and change... knocked to 5. Up over 5ish... poof hello where we are now.

I don't know, man. I only analyze companies that have their headquarters in USA or Canada. Here is an example of what I'm talking about though: FSK closed at $21.83 today for a dividend yield of 12.46% KSS closed at $31.10 today for a dividend yield of 6.43% Both companies have at least 2 consecutive years of tangible net asset value per share increases. Both companies are also currently trading for less than their tangible book value. Both companies I would consider undervalued right now. Both companies I would recommend buying - but for entirely different reasons. FSK is a "value trap". I would say its fair value should be around $83 or so. But that price is unlikely to ever be attained, IMO. It has never traded anywhere near that level. EVER! There would be a great many scoffs about this valuation if you spoke it out loud in too many places. It would still be a great purchase though for someone who wanted a long-term, high yielding stock. One that you could keep re-investing the dividends in, for years to come, at this similar high yield. KSS on the other hand is not a "value trap". I would say its fair value should be around $61 or so. That price \*could\* happen. Perhaps even in less than a year from now. Who knows? It has traded that high in the recent past, so it is reasonable to assume that it could get there again. This one would be a good purchase for someone who was more interested in shorter term capital gains than dividend yield. Of course, for both of these stocks - you would still have to keep an eye on them, to make sure their books are financially sound at every earnings release. Since they aren't index funds and things could change pretty quickly.

FSK (traded on the NYSE) sounds about perfect for you. I don't own this stock - I have a different more aggressive trading style. Last closed at $21.67, the dividend yields 12.55% per year at that price. Steady Tangible Book Value growth forever. Last reported TBV per share was $27.34 (2022 q1) Next ER (2022 q2) is August 8th, after market close. Average daily trading volume is 1.4 million shares - so that should be plenty liquid for you. Next Ex-Dividend date will likely be on or around the 13th of Sept or so, which leaves you plenty of time to mull it over first. I would classify this one as a value trap, because people have just become accustomed to it having been always priced this low for so long - so there it will likely stay. You'd be unlikely to get any significant stock price appreciation any time soon, but it should at least hold its ground well and pay you quite handsomely in the meantime through its dividends.

By pretty much any metric you can think of, AAPL is overvalued. Plus, its dividend yield is absurdly low as a direct result of that. To protect your money vs inflation, the easiest way would be to just buy a high yielding dividend stock. One with a sustainable yield and a growing Net Asset Value per share (aka book value). FSK comes to mind right now in that respect. Closed at $21.74 which at that price makes its dividend yield 12.51% per year. Not only is FSK's book value growing YoY, that close price is below its book value of $27.34 as well. If you wanted to go more aggressive and swing trade a stock for potentially bigger gains, then I'd recommend KSS at the moment, since it has been severely beaten down in the market. Unjustifiably so. Closed at $29.14, the dividend yields 6.86% per year, decent book value growth year over year. And coincidentally the close price here is also below KSS's book value of $34.81.

r/investingSee Comment

You'd always be better off just creating your own personal "fund" of great companies. A half-dozen or so should suffice. Here are 7 such companies that all pay a dividend yield higher than 10% right now (due to the market downturn) and also have consistent year over year balance sheet improvement (NAV per share growth). You would get better stock price appreciation in the long term as well. FSK 13.13% FS KKR Capital Corp. IEP 15.67% Icahn Enterprises LP BRMK 11.84% Broadmark Realty Capital Inc. RWT 11.15% Redwood Trust Inc. ACRE 10.81% Ares Commercial Real Estate Corp SCCO 10.40% Southern Copper Corp ARI 12.25% Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance Inc. Most of those pay quarterly dividends, but so what? All you have to do is divide the dividend in half when it comes in. Withdraw the first half on the month in comes in and withdraw the second half on the next month. On the 3rd month a new quarterly dividend has arrived, ready to be cut in half again to continue your equal monthly payment plan (If that is what your budget requires).

alright so: I would go for FSK, it‘s less risky because it allocates more money to senior than to subordinate debt and has a better yield. I only found the duration for KIO which sits at around 3.5%. This isn‘t too bad (the higher, the more sensitive to changes in interest rates). Based on FSK‘s recent performance I expect its duration to be similiar or lower. I doubt you‘ll make bank if yields start to decline again tho and you really need to be sure to time it. Worst case scenario for the fund is that it ends up holding a bunch of worthless equities/bonds they‘re unable to sell if the economy goes to shit. Keep in mind they invest in small/mid caps which will be hit hardest. I don‘t know what kind of bonds would pay you an average of 11% interest p.a. but I assume it‘s companies that aren‘t able to fond financing anywhere else so it‘s unlikely they‘re well capitalized. I‘d stay away from it for now

A bit risky because it's smaller and they boosted their dividend significantly recentlyish so I could see that getting cut at some point. FYI, as per the comments below, this happens all the time. Some clear examples were FSK and DM, and for a while QS. I find that the warrants are a better indicator of future share price than the shares are indicators of future warrant prices - i.e. the convergence is usually a drop in the share prices. There is an interesting event that happens later: at deSPAC there are often call and put contracts available on the shares. There occasionally is an opportunity to cover option contracts with warrants, particularly when the $12 threshold has already been met. This is a true arb opportunity, and I've been able to make a few dollars on it, but the window doesn't exist for long.

I’m in a lot of forward looking companies that are clearly overvalued based on current sales so I think my risk appetite is pretty high but it’s a stretch to say Rivian looking for a valuation of $80B with literally only test vehicles on the road. They have POs but not a one fully paid for vehicle. NIO is $63B and sells not too many cars. FSK is s $6.6B MC company. They also have fully sold zero cars. $80B is more than forward looking. It’s irrationally forward looking. Lucky for them, I feel like a lot of people are going to be willing to pay up for shares.

Magna also manufactures for them and holds a 7.4% stake in Fisker. Agreed, Fisker will need more cash to build out production capability, but they are still in the very early stages. Comparing NIO to FSK doesn't make sense, NIO is focused on batteries and is based in China, which has a different EV market than the US. In addition, NIO is trying to scale its battery swapping stations and investing heavily, while FSK is less of a car company and more of a design company. FSK plans to lease out the cars directly to consumers and the consumer doesn't sign a binding agreement, meaning that they can turn the vehicle in whenever. Fisker does have a long time to go and there is a lot of room for error, but there is also room for reward if things go right.

So it's *your* fault that my 9c might get assigned. If you want to diversify into a similar plays with high dividend and low volatility to run and option wheel agaisnt then look at PFLT and FSK. And yes, this style of investing needs to be called analgang. If I weren't so lazy I'd start up /r/analgang.

NLY is my side-piece. Pull a juicy dividend and run covers calls for additional income, while taking minimal risk. I'm also accumulating FSK for the same reasons.

I'm selling covered calls on cheap, high dividend stocks like NLY and FSK. FSK is in a fund BISV which is an index fund that's chock-full of similar high dividend stocks with low volatility and have an options chain. Given that NLY is "Annaly Capital Management" someone else had suggested the name for this as "anal gang".

Right now NLY, but I'm working on accumulating FSK next.

I'm not a short, never shorted a stock. But if you're an institutional investor watching this. This is the strategy I'd use. I'd start picking off the meme stocks from their popularity ranking. 3rd rate tier popularity: First ones to get shot: Pelaton, Redfin, Wish, stocks that are part of the meme culture but arent cult favorites among financial youtubers or charlatans. Watch the videos of Meet Kevin, Financial Education, positive investing and other tools. 2nd rate popularity Second ones to get shot: Enphase,CCIV, SPCE, HIMS, SFT-Stocks that were once in favor but are losing popularity among the meme culture 1st rate: Nio, TTCF, Palantir, FSK, Basically anything that has a strong cult following on social media. These will be the last to go, as many of their holders are conviced they made a good investment and will be the last to stand down. GOD MODE: The ultimate dragon, MEME LORD Tesla Don not attempt to slay this dragon unless you have a lvl 99 Burry Sword.

Market been blowing off but shit like Bank of America been ripping. Give me a fucking break. Some of this is just hard to believe FSK been on a run too. There’s literally no evidence to suggest those companies should be rolling while we’re in a sell off.
