I sold puts for XOM, COP, PSX and VLO on Friday. Rolling some of them out today to 4/17 expiry. Got some good premium

crude prices are down about -2.5% over the past year, not exactly runaway pricing. While a few companies like CVX trade at 28x, most trade more cheaply, like XOM 22x, COP 17.8x, EOG13.6x, PSX 14.3x. Also the integrateds are better balanced, benifitting in their downstream operations from lower prices. And if Orville knew how aweful the airline business would become, he would have shot Wilbur out of the air on his first flight.

Same here, CAT in 2011 also PSX when it spin off from COP, free shares of PSX, 1 free share for every 2 shares of COP held ! We like FREE, and divendends compounded....i received a letter from CAT several years ago they wanted to purchase my shares back from me...I got to thinking why so i thought something was up and told them NO, for once I lucked out by not selling my shares so today im thinking they soon will have to do a split to make their shares more affordable for the average investor besides CAT hasn't done a split for decades

I feel like just a bit of context is important here: XOM and COP have zero exposure to Venezuela, VLO and PSX only buy it for their refineries, but they can easily switch to Canadian and Mexican heavy sour. CVX is the only one who is actually producing in Venezuela, but it is <5% of their worldwide production. In general, the US oil industry gives about a tiny fraction of a fuck about Venezuela.

r/stocksSee Comment

Capatilize on the U.S Venezuela situation. CVX, VLO, NVDA (especially great for consultant long term growth- same with the others tho), HAL, PSX. Spread among these there is co.panies to rebuild existing wells, some that specialize in water drilling which U.S will likely take advantage of, processoring and energy companies to turn the heavy crude oil in Venezuela to light oil that can be transported, some transport the oil, one U.S oil company is located in a touching country to Venezuela that has good relations and experience in their wells, drilling ect, you get the point. If you spread out and have a bit in each one or smthng you can't really go wrong.

Moore’s law has been dead for at least 5-10 years. I’ll use the console space  to illustrate what I mean, because you have essentially static hardware for a long enough period to have advanced in chip design make a meaningful difference to manifacturing essentially the same thing. On the original PlayStation, the unit release at $300US, with a 200 mm die used for the cpu.  3 years later, the scope-5501 released, using a 26.9 mm die for the cpu.  In total, there were at least 6 different cpu revisions on the PSX, each making the processor smaller, more efficient, and less expensive to manufacture (hence the price cuts every 18 months or so) Fast forward 15 years to the PS4.  It received 1 chip revision in 7 years (not counting the “pro” version). The switch?  Same.  That led to the “lite” model.

Ok I'm convinced that this sub is completely fucking regarded and would rather spout dumb shit theories than look at actual numbers. As it stands, Venezuela produces less than 1 percent of the oil globally. .8 to be precise. IF the USA invades Venezuela (and that's a pretty big IF) you may see a price spike in oil due to speculation, but it won't last long term. The volume could be replaced almost immediately. Here's the kicker, the type of oil that they produce is a bit unique. It's heavy, high sulfur crude, so if you were gambling you'd want to invest in VLO MPC or PSX. They are refineries that are designed specifically to process heavy-sour crude. Their input costs wouldn't go up by that much, but diesel (their output) would go up significantly. So those companies would get some pretty big profits from a supply squeeze of heavy crude.

Seriously? Just from looking at my screener: CI, GM, F, ELV, CVS, CAH, CNC, PSX, VLO… In fact, UNH’s current market cap as a percentage of revenue still seems to be an outlier in its own category. Not saying it’s a bad investment, but having an MC below revenue isn’t a great buy indicator (eg, WBA, which has FY revenue 15x its MC, but also is very far from a sound investment these days).

Crude oil prices are usually up historically under democrat administrations and oil prices are usually down during republican administrations. There are always exceptions, but usually conservative policies favor increasing supply thru less regulation and liberal policies tighten supply due to more regulation. I would be looking at BTD in the equipment & svce suppliers like $HAL and $SLB and the refiners $PSX and $COP if I end up BTD in the $XLE.

Sorry - I wasn't being clear. Order types are exchange specific. That's what I meant by "depending on what you are trading". Different exchanges and market venues offer different types of orders. For example - even among the various NASDAQ owned exchanges - MOO and MOC are available on NASDAQ but not on BX and PSX. On ICE exchanges - NYSE, ARCA offers MOO and MOC - but I have no idea about their other venues. More info on ICE and NASDAQ order types here: [https://www.nyse.com/markets/order-types](https://www.nyse.com/markets/order-types) and [https://www.nasdaqtrader.com/content/productsservices/trading/ordertypesg.pdf](https://www.nasdaqtrader.com/content/productsservices/trading/ordertypesg.pdf) MOO and MOC fills at the opening and closing prices. It's not guaranteed to be the lowest or highest at the open or close. It's the price that is set with the opening cross or open auction. I do not know which brokers offer those order types. They are not order types that I use to trade. You will have to call around to check which brokers support those order types. Schwab for example supports MOC and LOC but not MOO (at least the last time that I checked). If I had to guess - Ibkr probably supports broad order types. The order types that you mentioned "Limit + At Market Open" sounds like a LOO order. And "Market + At Market Open" sounds like a MOO order. But that appears to be specific nomenclature of your broker - so you have to explicitly ask your broker what they mean by those order types.
