People absolutely can get rekt hard by borrowing to buy Bitcoin. They can also benefit tremendously as I have. I bought Bitcoin instead of paying off my mortgages. Was this a bad move? It certainly worked out well for me and it can work out for other people too. The most important thing to do to not get rekt is to understand what you are doing. Not all debt is equal. Using mortgage debt is very different than high interest mark to market debt that should only be used with extreme caution. What is the risk you see in taking on mortgage debt to buy Bitcoin? The rate is certainly lower than the inflation rate. It is not mark to market, and the timing is far beyond what is necessary to mitigate the volatility. There is risk of you losing your own keys if you don't know what you are doing. And you could CLAIM that Bitcoin is a risky asset although I will argue it is less risky than "safe" investments government bonds and real estate. Do you really think there is risk that Bitcoin will be worth fewer US dollars in 30 years than it is today??? If so please explain. If you do not see this as a risk, then why aren't you doing this? Saylor is using this strategy. I am using this strategy; and I will only say that I am an experienced and accredited investor. Do you honestly believe we are making "terrible financial decisions"? Or is it possible we see an opportunity you do not?

Exchanges the require KYC are Centralized and are pretty much always the most trustworthy and reliable ones. They have their weak points but they will never do you like a scammer who's project has just crashed. Why? Because they can actually be held legally accountable. The Decentralized exchanges don't require KYC. But there are also MANY Decentralized exchanges out there that CLAIM to require KYC and they don't. In that case your example the issue that I'm talking about. You could give them legitimate KYC. Which they will deny and you can call them out on it on every front and it still won't matter. They will have your information that you gave to them and sell it on the black market. And they count be held accountable for it unless their Centralized Government gets wind of it. The taxes are really not that big of a deal and they could find ways to make us benefit from it. You have manually file them regardless in most places and I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for us to get tax returns that the exchanges could automatically calculate. They would only have a real impact on whales. Just like they pretty much do to the rich outside of Crypto. Imo greed from Crypto whales is the only reason people even care about Crypto being taxed.

If I trade $2000 of Tether for $2000 of USDC from Coinbase, Coinbase's wallet will have $2000 less USDC in it. When they make the next batch of USDC so that they have a pool to trade, they can replace that $2000 of USDC I bought with some newly minted USDC. Where did that $2000 "USD" come from? The Tether I traded them for the USDC. They CLAIM all of it comes from actual USD, but there's no way that's true. The market volume of USDC is going up far, far faster than the net influx of USD into USDC (and indeed, almost all of the influx of USD into crypto markets would have to be going to these stablecoins for that to be true - but the net influx of USD into USDC is very low). That suggests that a lot of the "USC" has to be coming from Crypto. And almost all of their net positive flow is coming from Tether. Which means that the only way that they could be getting USD is by burning hundreds of millions of Tether each day with Tether to get USD, then taking that USD and putting it into their accounts to create USBC. And there's no way that's happening.
