I can provide my experience as I did this back in 2017. For a 401K money, that's a rollover. What other people have already said, buy the Bitcoin ETF. Fidelity has a good one. If you have roth money, this is money, you already paid taxes on that gets invested and you can't touch until retirement. You could open a self directed, I r a. Also known as a checkbook, I r a. The way this works is, you establish an l l c company. For example bitcoin l l c. You then set yourself up as one of the managing directors of your l.L c. There's a company that helps set up the paperwork for you. I use broad financial to do this. Once you've officially filed the paperwork, you get an l l c charter with your state. I then open a business checking account in the name of my l. LC funded that checking account with my Roth. I r a money and then opened an institutional account on a crypto exchange. You then buy your crypto assets and then either leave. 'em on the exchange, which is risky or pull them off to a cold storage wallet. You are required to file franchise tax for your l l c every year. Since it's retirement money and you're not actually making money in the sense of goods and services, you shouldn't have to pay any taxes. It's basically a zero tax due report. If you use a tax professional, they could probably do this for you as well. As long as you update the valuation of your assets at the time of the filing, you should be good. In theory, if bitcoin continues to rise exponentially over a long term timeline, all of that roth, I r a money at the time of retirement, we'll be tax free gains. Unless they change the laws sometime in the what's the far distant future. As far as your existing employer, 401k it's probably hard to have a fund that has direct exposure to bitcoin. Most employers have a targeted fund based on your target year. Retirement, and it's it adjusts, it's risk exposure as time goes on, so it's basically a set fund that has manage risks involved. This is the only way I could do it myself.As far as using existing rollover 401k money and physically buying crypto with roth.I.R a money.

Because you can't exchange the local currency with the official rate to USD so you buy it in the black market with a premium, to exchange to BTC you have to pay the premium of LC to USD and from USD to BTC

And it’s even more reprehensible living in a weaker currency nation. Dependent upon LC, bitcoin didn’t even really drop that much from Nov-21 to Jan-23. We just had a crushing dollar strength expansion from May-22 through Q3 2022. It will now start to trade downwards as we enter recession to “lighten the blow”. Will be interesting to see if bitcoin trades as a risk asset during this time period, or an anti inflation asset.
