Vanguard developed Europe etf. My Vanguard SP500 year to date is - 5%, Europe one +10%. Next to that I have some dividend focused stock mostly aimed at Europe with ING, NN, BAT, BMW, Unilever, but also some American with IP and O. I don't really do much individual stock picking anymore, so it's mostly about instead of doing 80/20 US/EU now doing more like 60/40 on new money I put in. I'm still positive about the US future in terms of returns, but diversifying a bit more.

you're the same person who, if the employer was able to come up with the contribution amount for all employees - say 200 employees so 100K in late december, made the deposit which resulted in you being over contributed, you'd want to sue the employer because you didn't notice and were penalized. the employer is attempting to GIVE YOU AN F'ING GIFT, the employer set up the rules to eliminate possibly screwing up X number of employee accounts in a simple manner and you're upset because you might lose out on a whopping $500 otherwise allowable contribution. i've implemented employee benefit plans, dealt with disgruntled a-holes who wanted the entire plan centered around what they wanted (every red cent they might be able to get) without regard to the complexity, difficulty, potential issues etc. yes, it's all about YOU --- i'd be looking for your replacement. if something this simple and benign triggers you, there's little doubt even if i modified the plan to make sure you got every nickel, all it would do is free you up to look for the next thing you could complain about
It's surprisingly a lot less common in Europe. Here is an overview for brokers in [Belgium](https://imgur.com/EVt8m57), although some like ING, DeGiro, Revolut, Trade Republic, eToro, interactive Brokers operate the same in other EU countries. Most large banks don't offer it, and even out of the neobrokers not all offer it (for Germany for example, the market leader is split between Trade Republic and Scalable Capital and then some smaller ones, TR offers fractional shares but Scalable Capital does not). Sometimes it differs for trading plans, where they do allow fractional shares, but regular buys they don't.

Economists for Deutsche bank and ING have said that indeed there is now clearly a crisis of confidence in the USD. Does that mean it will collapse right away? Not quite. But it might. It's kind of funny that people in this thread are saying that it's still needed as a reserve currency. The moves of stock, bond and FX markets make clear that that's clearly over, and frankly it's not a completely new phenomenon... after 2008 most central banks already diversified their assets away from USD into a pool of different assets. What's new now is that the USD might be simply dropped from that pool altogether.
It's up to 25 today. It was 31 1 - 2 months ago. DRS would give you marginal gains. I made more on 0dte puts today than you probably made DRS ING those shares for 4 years.

Aight thanks for the answer, I know now that VWCE will be the first ETF I will start DCA-ING into and the rest would be for me to look around and find the ones that I like, thanks again for your answer!
Exactly, I’ve tried timing the crypto markets and it is indeed very hard that’s why DCA-ING myself into the position seems to work more than often for me and want to apply that in the Stock market, I am not trying to beat the market, I just want to have a solid Portfolio that will be like a safety in case I ever need the money and not just holding my money in my bank account or in crypto. I feel like if I choose the correct stocks from the start and start adding more stocks along the way would be the way to go at it for me. But making sure the first stocks are the ones that will stick with me in this lifetime is a big decision.
**Need Advice on Hyundai GDR Cash Redemption Offer – Small Holding Issue** I am a private investor from Germany holding 125 GDRs of Hyundai Motor Co. (ISIN: USY384721251) in my ING-DiBa direct account. Recently, I received a notice that Newfound Bay Limited is offering a cash redemption at €62.50 per GDR. However, the offer stipulates a minimum registration of 2,000 GDRs, which is far above my current holding. I am looking for advice or experiences from anyone who might have encountered a similar situation. Are there any possibilities for pooling with other investors or alternative approaches to participate in the offer? Any insights or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Lots of tech. The market is cycling out of tech right now. All things Europe. I bought ING a few months ago (just liked the div). I have been buy Europe adr’s. Switched our 401ks to leaning pretty heavy internationally.
ING is keeping my portofolio in the green. I know I don't belong here because I don't gamble, but this place is funny.
NFA but in times like this I take my money into dividend plays like Petrobras, Adecco, Swiss Re, BASF, Banco Santander, Mercedes Benz, ING Group, Rolls Royce to name a few.
The ISM reports on the manufacturing and services sector activity in February, due Monday and Wednesday respectively, could be key indications of how sentiment is holding up since President Trump announced a plethora of policy plans, including tariffs, which could lift inflation. Recent purchasing managers' surveys and Conference Board data have shown a weakening in sentiment. "The ISM reports are expected to confirm that the soft start to the year for growth is continuing," ING's Knightley said. If planned tariffs go ahead next week, this could dent sentiment further, he said. "Consumer confidence is already weakening on concerns about consumer spending power and government austerity measures, and more headlines about tariffs won't help the situation."

ING, JHG, CINF, MRK. All great dividend stocks, most have still run a bit in the last year.
I have been going overseas. I have had some success with that. ING has been solid so far
No specific knowledge, but I like ING and NN Group in Netherlands. Picked them up a while ago when they were cheaper, but still a 7-8% dividend now. Far from growth stocks though if you are looking for that.
they are IBKR and other US brokerages are available in germany and you can trade real options on them. It's not like its forbidden by law. But alot of german brokerages don't allow real options. The only one that i know of would be ING but they have huge order costs. Its because german stock exachanges dont allow american options. But some brokers like ING can trade on the NASDAQ/NYSE directly.
Why not change up your risk allocation? I recently moved 25% of my 401k to ING for the dividend and limited downside and I have built up cash at 4% in Fidelity.

I never thought I'd say (type) this.. but perhaps, it's time for **Eurostoxx-50** index. You get ASML, SAP, Siemens, Schneider Electric, BMW, Mercedes... all good quality and beaten down stocks. Yes, there's lot of garbage too, mostly banks like BNP, ING etc. But mostly it's all beaten down stocks and/or really low valuations, high dividends. Good place to park funds and then DCA slowly back into SPY.

The popularity of IBKR and the resellers (Lynx, Captrader) is low and most people don't even know about them, as IBKR(+ the resellers) are leaning towards more ambitious and "professional" traders. IBKR is not a German Broker (!) but sits in Ireland. This means you must do taxes on your own at the end of the year, while German registered brokers will do taxes for you automatically after every trade, as well as at the end of the year. Also, people here have their broker often at their traditional banks (Regional banks, ING, Comdirect), where they also have their regular bank account. If they open an additional trading account, neo brokers are popular. And there is one more thing: The fees you state are nothing compared to what Germans are used to pay. Paying 5€ or 0,x% for a transaction(capped at 70€ lol) was normal until neo brokers took over. Neo brokers are advertising with 1€ fees but the spread is bad. So: People here are getting screwed over much more than just the 1 dollar difference that you have when you trade on NASDAQ compared to IBIS.
So how do I trade this from Germany ? I am on ING and on TradeRepublic but I have no Options available

Hello, I am 18 years old and want to start trading/investing my 115k Trust fund. I just recently turned 18 and got a large Trust fund from my Grandfather, that he gave to my Dad in 2014 when he died. My Dad has invested the money into low risk and/or dividend stocks such as Nestle, Zurich insurance Group and Mercedes. He also laid aside some „safety“ money for liquidity. It has grown from 100k in 2014 to 115k now, with 85k in Stocks, 15k in the UBS strategy fund and 15k in Liquidity. The Currency is mostly swiss francs, but there is also a 5,7k part of the liquidity which is in Eur. I have no clue what exactly to do, but I want to break away from my bank because of the high costs. I am not sure if switching to another Bank is the right call, my dad said if I wanted to switch, he would recommend ING. I want to start trading with mid to long term gains, but I also want to have a little bit of money to „play around“ in short term trading, maybe Crypto? (My roommate made 2k yesterday trading solana and dogecoin?) I want to start because I am very interested in how politics/news interact with the markets. I was and am very interested in the Gamestop short squeeze four years ago. I am scared of „just trying“ because I think the european markets are going to slip into a recession and/or crash. I dont want to lose all my money. I have no debts, live in Switzerland, want to retire early with good Savings, about 10m would be great. „Early“ Retirement would be about 35-40 years old. I am studying at University right now and am in search for a side Job right now. Any Advice would be helpful! (I want to post this in multiple subreddits but idk if thats allowed, so I am going to post it here first)
it is possible, did you even read the link i referenced??? https://finance.yahoo.com/news/big-russia-bet-minting-fortunes-040000118.html ADRs are only IOU (i owe you) of the stonk world, the real deal is the underlying that they represent. you should have accepted the offer (do it if you can still do). To open that russian account, go to Kaliningrad (see link above!) and open one with Gazprombank (you have to be there in person). you might need a formal invitation from the bank to go there. Then you can transfer the stonks to the russian ones (in rubbles) and either wait for the sanctions (it's bound to come one day since germany and NL still trade a lot with russia heh) don't forget to report the acc. to the tax office. try to contact ING and lukoil (or whatever company) investor relations and try to convert the stonks. they have supposedly 20x (depending on when you bought them) and lukoil is still going strong. Even if the rubble devalues, the company will still be worth more or less the same.
* Tell that to my bank (ING), which doesn't allow me to sell the ADR because of sanctions. I was cynically offered to exchange ADR to the main stock, but I would need an account at a Russian bank first. As if that were possible.
I live in Germany and have my brokerage account at Dutch ING Bank and I also buy shares through them.
Oh definitely! The Dutch banks and insurance sector are interesting, especially ING and NN Furthermore Besi semiconductors is interesting but extremely volatile. They are one of the components behind AMD's succes in both the gaming market with 3D v-cache and in Enterprise. Adyen is also pretty interesting I am pretty bullish on the Dutch economy as it does not seem to face many of the problems other European countries have. It does not face the industrial collapse like Germany as pretty much nothing is made there, it does not face the high unemployment and cultural holdbacks of Italy and Spain. It does not have the high debt burden of France. Demographics are pretty good, infrastructure is maybe the best in the world and for the first time in 12 years a little more sensible, regulation sceptic and EU sceptic government is calling the shots. Some notable dangers: Housing, there are literally no houses it's absolutely ridiculous, median house now cost $510k Energy, there are monumental problems with the poeer grid. The Netherlands currently has the highest capacity of solar per Capita and how the country is set up it's absolutely breaking the grid. New house can't get connect to the grid, business have ~3 year waiting time to get connected etc etc. Current estimate of solving just the grid problem is estimate at around 200 billion, roughly 20% of GDP There are problem's but im bullish
When a similar fine had to be paid by the Dutch ING bank for knowingly allowing money laundering for terrorism etc., the responsible CEO Ralph Hamers went on to move to Switzerland and become CEO of UBS.
ING Bank, capital growth plus a great dividend policy.
BABA AINT BABA-ING
Moved my money out of capital one last year. Should have done it the moment it switched from ING.
On Rereading this Post, what does Op mean by " I am not allowed to sell options on individual stocks", what does that even mean?? Are you allowed to Sell Options or not? I know most brokers make Option levels a BIG F..ING DEAL. But it is all BS. Just look at Tasty, it is a checkbox and their founders have over 80 years experience and have built two successful trading companies. They are not worried about you making a bad trade, they have done the math and have put on BPR . Buying Power Reduction.
I'm in Germany but I couldn't buy on a german exchange if that's what you mean. My bank (ING) allows me to buy in the US. It costs a bit more but when investing 20k it doesn't really matter.
I sold some ING puts 2 month ago. Aim was either to get the stock for a good price, or get a little pocket money. Pocket money I got.
It's just a joke as many farms in Canada are just blueberry farms and very common in the sorround ING city areas.
I invested $400 in an IRA with ING and stopped contributing to it in 2007. It now stands at nearly $800. I was better off spending it then.

German or French speaking? If German speaking, the people at Finanzfluss have amazing youtube videos introducing to investing. Gerd Kommer is also a very renowned name in the space. As someone who overcomplicated this for a long time and dragged and procrastinated the process - it’s actually easier than you think. More often than not, the right choice is a well diversified world ETF, which you can buy yourself through most of the major online banks such as ING or apps like trade republic

>*The IV expansion leading up to earnings and the subsequent crush really neutralizes a lot of the potential Theta decay benefits, making directional moves almost the only real play.* u/hansfixer wrote it best. The strategy detailed with NVDA, with the strikes closer I was way too far out, benefit from the directional move, it's like basically freezing Theta and either profit well from a big directional move or not. NVDA and CRWD both traded flat. I opened today on Dell bought $97, sold $100 (8/30-10/04), bought $123, sold $120. This was 10% out or the implied move. My NVDA and CRWD were 15% out. Wanted to see what would happen with even closer strikes so opened 5% out too. Or Dell Sold $116, bought $119, sold $104, bought $101 used closer strike long leg too (8/30-9/27) Again, I over estimated the potential of long legs being further out in time. It wasn't until moments ago seeing my (8/30-12/20) long legs on S were crushed 30% on Tuesday. Blew my mind to see four months out get crushed like that. Low IV but Vega must be sky high so small drop in IV is huge loss in dollar amount per 1% of IV. So now I need a big directional move on these Dell plays, OR I lose money to IV crush and could've just opened these plays tomorrow as diagonals avoiding IV crush which basically threw money at just for the chance to capture the potential directional move. Not worth it. I messed up and don't like earning's after seeing how F'ING POWERFUL IV CRUSH IS EVEN MONTHS OUT.

Here you go: Stock Market News, Aug. 5, 2024: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq Slide Amid Global Selloff Tech shares lead broad decline, Japan’s Nikkei plunges 12%, most since 1987 Last Updated: Aug. 5, 2024 at 7:01 PM EDT Live Coverage Feed Updated 1 day ago Why the Yen Carry Trade Unwind Has Further to Go Chelsey Dulaney hedcut By Chelsey Dulaney , Reporter The carry trade isn’t unwound yet. Investors are rushing to close out one of the most popular investment strategies of recent years: making investments with borrowed Japanese yen. Many investors have been participating in the so-called carry trade. Here’s how that works: an investor borrows the currency of a place where interest rates are low, like Japan or China, and uses it to invest in a currency where interest rates are higher, like Mexico. The trade depends on the borrowing currency remaining cheap, and market volatility remaining low. Both of those factors have turned against investors in recent weeks as the yen surged, forcing them to close out out their positions. Hedge funds and other speculative investors were holding more than 180,000 contracts betting on a weaker yen on a net basis, worth more than $14 billion, at the start of July, according to CFTC data. By last week, those positions had been cut to around $6 billion. But this is just a small corner of the market for borrowing in yen, notes Chris Turner, global head of markets at ING. In recent years, banks, asset managers and others have also aggressively borrowed in the Japanese currency. They were encouraged by Japan’s negative interest rate policy, which it only ended in April, years after Western central banks began aggressively raising rates to combat inflation. Japanese banks had lent about $1 trillion to foreign borrowers in yen as of March, according to BIS data, up 21% from 2021. Much of the recent growth in cross-border yen lending has been in the so-called interbank market, where banks lend to each other, and to non-bank financial firms like asset managers. The problem, Turner said, is that it’s been expensive to hedge currency risk for the past few years, so many of those borrowers likely didn’t. As they rush to do so now, it essentially creates more demand for yen, he said. This risks a vicious circle, as the yen’s strength causes investors and others to close out their weak-yen bets, by buying more yen
So real life war games. Ai really f ING us over. Jensen huang is a robot and Zuckerberg is a lizard.
