Thanks, I will try and do some more research into this topic. I did some research in the past and I based my understanding on the most popular Chinese companies like Alibaba, tencent, PDD, tencent, etc which all look like they are VIE’s. I will take your word that BYD isn’t, but I’m not quite sure what the difference is there. But the danger of the VIE isn’t that the company will always stiff the foreign investors. They can’t do that since they want foreign capital and trade, it is that the possibility is there.

Only stock I can think of that comes close to your criteria is PDD. BIDU BABA TCEHY JD are other big names but nowhere close to 30% growth (I assume you mean top line). BIDU/BABA/JD all down big over 5 years; while TCEHY up slightly, and PDD up but severely underperforming SP500. All the single digit PE is there to match the no growth to low single digit growth. PDD is up more recently due to the recent rise of Teemu.

True. I think tariff fears are overblown in regards to PDD but thats more long term than this trade. Also interesting that China isn’t one of the countries he’s announced 25-40% tariffs on. I think he understands it’s the one country he can’t fuck with and is actually going to be hands off with and let Bessent handle.

I pick stocks mostly through financial analysis (but also analyzing the company products/services). I have a system that I follow that helps me find companies high in quality-to-value. I prefer JD because 1) It has quality control that other Chinese ecommerce brands don't have, 2) a strong distribution infrastructure 3) focus on domestic sales. PDD is good value though.
