Time to short LUV to the ground. Paying more for premium seating? No longer get to pick your seats? Who the fuk wants a window seat on a Boeing Max plane. Taking advantage of this to increase prices just gonna lose them customers. Disgraceful
AAL and LUV are gonna beat harrd premarket
Not getting approval for the Spirit merger hurt, but that said what is the brand about: Quality, affordability, more destinations, or just that their a bit better than the discount airlines? Airline pilot shortages are a big problem as well. That's the problem as well for all airline stocks. Airline stocks for the most part have been mediocre, not really a good place to invest, more just about trading between earnings. If you're looking to invest in airline stocks, Southwest $LUV is still going through a renovation after the gigantic flight cancelations in December 2022 and the stock has fallen a lot since, but once it fixes the big problems, it should trade in its normal historical range $50-55. They still have an excellent corporate management team that knows how be profitable.
Anyone else bullish on $LUV ?
Anyone else bullish on $LUV ?
Anyone playing LUV? Seems like every other big airline has killed earnings so far. I’m expecting LUV to follow suit
Remember for LUV earnings, the grounding the of 737 max does not affect on the company cause they don’t use that shitty model
Holding AAL and LUV calls not scured
Besides completely fraudulent companies, LUV might be the worst stock in the entire market. They have horrible management, a flawed business plan, tons of competition and provide a mediocre product. If I were you I'd dump that crap immediately. The opportunity cost alone is enough reason
I'm getting real nervous holding LUV on earning week but I'm already way down on it

Do people usually go all in on 1-2 stocks or diversify? Have a few puts on UAL, LUV,JNJ,BAC for this and next week but 1) I don’t see these mentioned in this sub even though they have earnings and 2) I notice people usually go in on a single stock like nvidia or spy directly
I’m still furious how BA broke a red candle off in LUV’s ass. It was doing as good as it had in 5 years

w00t!! My paradise. LUV me a gay bear 🐻🏳️🌈
The reason I went with LUV calls is, I expected them to react to the loss of the 737 deliveries better, they imploded. F puts, well their ev game is week and they aren't doing anything special. And TLRY calls, because of the German and Florida weed hype, just got impatient. I definitely need more patience, I have a job and kids.l, trading is not my job and I need time to research and read news before buying.
Weekly, I've panicked and dropped some prematurely early on. I've been holding losers longer but only one has panned out so far doing that. So far my biggest losers have been LUV calls, F puts, and a TLRY call. Kicking myself over that last one, it popped today. LUV I sold calls well before expiration and bought puts to break even. F I held until an hour before expiration then sold for basically nothing. TLRY call was due to expire Friday, sold it this morning before it blew up due to stagnation and a horrible cell signal where I was. When I say I'm new, I'm new new. Is there a guide to how far out you should buy options for and when the delta is going to crush you?
I’m holding a relatively small position bought very close to ATL or recent lows. The potential is there for sure. After government blocked merger it basically became “too big to fail”. Spirit while not highly regarded in frequent flier circles does indeed service a lot of routes and people. I’ll fly Spirit any day over Frontier for instance. If I have a choice I take Southwest as they are the least insulting domestic airline left (stock sorta sucks right now but I bought in early 2020 during the pandemic crash so I’m up, and will probably always be on $LUV). When their merger was blocked the argument by the feds was they didn’t want another mega-airline as it would reduce competition. This strongly suggests to me at least, that the government has a vested interest in Spirit remaining viable.
Grabbed 32.50 January LUV calls
“I can’t imagine LUV offering less than 25/share” is what this community thinks passes as analysis It’s just speculation. Like why do I give a fuck what the limits of your imagination are At no point do you substantiate that acquisition price with data
Possible LUV put 0DTE. Exit at main support
"$SAVE - SPIRIT AIRLINE - ABOUT TO TAKEOFF" $JBLU was willing to pay $35/share. I can't imagine $LUV offering less than $25/share. With the number of shares short being more than 28% of the float and considering the millions of shares that have been bought under $5 $SAVE is setup for a massive short squeeze. The funds were selling at the end of March as "window dressing". On Monday they'll be buying for the new quarter plus funds that were restricted from buying shares under $5 will be buying. "Buying at the bottom is always a challenge. Many will come close but only a few will actually do so and then they will regret not having bought more shares as the share price moves higher." If you missed out on buying $NVDA before the run-up don't miss out on buying $SAVE before it does the same. 500% upside? Additional points to consider: ✅ $300,000,000 in cash coming. ✅ All Airbus planes. ✅ Expected to be cash flow positive in 2nd quarter. ✅ J.P. Morgan reiterated its "BUY" rating on Friday.
What we need is an entity to put the acquisition in right light vis a vis federal regulators. Will $LUV be that entity! I'm betting on it
Why on earth do you think LUV would buy them when JBLU couldn’t?
eh, it depends, size isn’t the only factor, it is more like how they compete. if for example, LUV and SAVE had less of an overlap in routes than SAVE and JBLU, it could be seen as less anticompetitive than the merger than got rejected and could get passed.
Why would LUV be able to acquire when JBLU was not?
If the regulator doesn't allow Jetblue, which is way smaller than LUV, there's no way the regulator would allow a LUV/Jblu merger.
Frontier tried to merge with them, but JB swooped in with the $35/share bid. The judge blocked it bc was afraid of rising prices which JB made no secret about. The idea that $LUV will try is laughable. I think $SAVE is hugely undervalued just based on their assets and room for growth….A lot more to be excited about than a dying retail video game company like $GME was when all of us regards went all in.
What is this $LUV fan fic you’re talking about? $LUV is basically 97% confirmed to be in acquisition mode but I haven’t seen anything tied to Spirit Airlines.
$SAVE. Imagine waking up one morning and seeing the news that $LUV has offered $30/share for Spirit when you're short at $5. 😅 You may want to cover at the open on Monday before it actually happens. p.s. It's not "paid in". It's additional cash. $69M from $JBLU + $231M (or more) from Pratt Whitney. Smart money will be buying leading up to the E.R. on 4/24. Enjoy the ride. Clear skies ahead. 😎
$SAVE. Last day below $5. Expecting $LUV to offer $25. Don't miss out.
$SAVE. Expecting $LUV to offer $25/share.

Loaded up on September LUV 32.50 calls. HOLDING MY CCL CALLS
Its super strange. I have LUV. It's 28.80 right at open my option said I had tripled my money and then at the 5 min candle it all went away
I've paid for every watch out of my personal trading account. I buy stocks when they get crushed, like down 25-30% in a trading day or two (usually around earnings) and then wait. Most recent trade Dick Sporting Goods, just exited that and bought some LUV. I believe in mean reversal and in most cases it's been a fool proof way to make 25-30% on 1-3 trades a year. But you need balls and to be patient. I've made millions buying/trading individual equities over the years but I also do it 50 hrs a week.
Watching LUV slowly creep up on rumors of mergers coming....
damn my life savings like $8.... I yolo in LUV calls...

LUV and LVS have killed my port lately
Well I’m stupid af so idk id I’d be listening to me on this. But I can provide an example of how I used it this week: I knew Boeing was crazy this week. I wanted to capitalize on that - but options on Boeing are expensive. My wife suggested I look in to Southwest (LUV) as she heard a podcast recently that they were having issues too. So I bought puts on Southwest as well. However, the Southwest stock was kind random so I bought inverse-calls on the puts I bought. They were cheaper than the puts as well bc the trend was down at the time I bought my options. It ended up that LUV stock went up rather than down, and so my puts became worthless. But my calls ended up paying more than the combined cost of both my puts and my calls. So I still made a profit, but not as much as I would have if I had I just bought the calls. But if you look at the downtrend for LUV this week it was really hard to predict if/when it would stop falling. So I saw it as like “insurance” against my put. Had the price for LUV not gone back up though, or just down, and instead just flattened, I would have lost the investment of both of my options.
CCL and LUV long calls
Bought Southwest in 2015 for $58, sold a little while later...LUV is a terrible terrible stock to own. Throw a dart at a random list & buy whatever you hit and you'll get better returns than that hunk of crap.
Grabbed $32.50 September LUV calls. It's oversold for sure plus the summer travel boom
Going into LUV calls in a week.
LUV is oversold I grabbed September $30 calls
Surprised nobody mentioned shorting $LUV today. That one is paying out for now.
Keep adding to LUV calls, there may have been a slight overreaction today.
Farther south. Long call on LUV is smart
Just opened positions in LUV and BA
BA fucked LUV in the pooper hard. They were on a great run and had to fucking restructure everything because of they’re deal with BA. LUV down 15% Also bought long calls
As an avid Southwest only flyer, I'm wonder what this does to LUV. I know I am considering going back to the dark side of reserved seats to fly on an A320 instead of 737.
Tell me how 2yr LEAP calls on LUV aren't free money Also, it's going to be different THIS time!
