Why is LUV not on the table
RCL and LUV with the crazy gains today. Yup, people still got plenty of money. Calls all the way.

And LUV just lowered guidance holy shit
LUV has shot up 20% in November. March puts are looking dirt cheap.
Same. I sold lots of covered calls (DIS, WMT, LUV, ARR, NYMT, too many to remember) and my 100 or 200 shares of NVDA got called away for $7 in 2018.
At a macro level, let me explain the thesis you seem to be missing: \> Economy gets fucked \> Consumers have less discretionary income \> Companies return on ad spend plummets \> META, GOOGL revenue plummets and first thing to go is CAPEX (read, GPU spend) \> NVIDIA revises forecasts down all of a sudden your forward P/Es don't look so reasonable. There's a reason FPE is forward and not realized, that's the threat Anyways, I'm not retarded enough to buy NVDA puts (COF, ALLY, MGM, LUV puts are very on the table though) but your prices are not extreme theory misses the primary threat vector
I do, I don’t just buy random stuff. I started with airlines during the COVID slump, and it’s paid off really well. My worst performer is Southwest (LUV) at -6.81% overall, best is Delta (DAL) at 163.12% and I’m averaging 53.58% return overall with just airlines. My best overall performer is GE Aviation (GE) with an 889.59% return, but I only have 2 shares (really wish I dumped into it more 😂). Aviation is my passion and I follow that industry the most even before investing, so that’s where I initially focused (including defense contractors etc). I’ve been diversifying more over the past 6mo, and I do research and look at industry trends. All small stuff, I don’t hold a lot so I made money but on a small deposit. Overall I’m at a 15.90% return over the entire portfolio lifetime. I’m also a holder, not a day trader, and I haven’t sold a stock yet.
Dems poised to torpedo CR. With no end in sight, busiest travel season fast approaching, and FAA reductions increasing 6%, 8%, 10% through Nov. 14, bearish on airlines: AAL, DAL, UAL, LUV, ALK, JBLU. ATM puts Jan. 16 anyone?

Thoughts on airline puts with 10% flow reductions (AAL. DAL. UAL. LUV. JBLU) dated Nov. 28/Jan. 16? Polymarket & r/ATC polls have odds of govt reopening week of Thanksgiving (24th) with Thanksgiving Day as hard stop.

Better how? IIRC, he does not invest in airlines. Airlines stocks have never been a good long term investment, except for LUV until COVID.
Strike price should always be set by price action - for covered calls I look to sell just above resistance. That way you’re letting the chart guide you instead of guessing targets. Coming to expected premiums to receive from the CCs as of 09/26: * **CCL** → IV30 46.53 | Put 2.81% / **Call 2.29%** | 3M Avg Historical: Put 2.37% / **Call 2.05%** * **ABNB** → IV30 31.91 | Put 1.71% / **Call 1.55%** | 3M Avg Historical: Put 1.98% / **Call 1.74%** * **LUV** → IV30 43.28 | Put 2.61% / **Call 2.09%** | 3M Avg Historical: Put 2.26% / **Call 1.81%** CCL and LUV offering higher premiums than their historical average on calls. Good time to sell.
Thank you - I feel set on a covered call target ($140) for ABNB and will likely just put in a CC order for CCL after I see the outcome of Monday's earnings. LUV is a small profit / just curious if more experienced traders feel LUV's better to keep longer-term.
I LUV how you think. A lot of Hares here and we the TORTOISES YES!
Or...hear me out....just pick stock tickers with silly names like CAKE, BUD, EAT, FIZZ, PZZA, BUNZ, TAP, LUV, HOG, FUN, WOOF. Then you can make phrases with your tickers like: I just LUV to EAT PZZA and CAKE, drink some BUD and then go TAP some BUNZ with my HOG while she WOOFs. See? Stocks can be fun!
the LUV will rise again
Starting next year LUV is going to require +size passengers to book 2 seats. The meltdowns are going to be fucking incredible. Future ain’t so dim.
Thank god we have UNIONS as a check on BAD CORPORATE AMERICA could you imagine if AA did not have UNIONS I hate airline stocks eESPECIALLY LUV
Soon: "Inflation is actually a great thing for stocks. I LUV INFLATION!"
I purchased 3 stocks during a market down turn during COVID. Known companies that simply had to bounce back. I did this as my first try into picking stocks. DIS, UL, LUV I've lost money on all of them. 🤣 It's the best thing to ever happen to me. Like a person losing at their first visit to a casino. They won't gamble again, and neither will I. It's all index funds now and forever. I refuse to sell these stocks. They are my reminders.

A friend told me about a new plant they're gonna build a in E Texas where they're gonna take wood scraps and make jet fuel (biorefinery) , LUV even signed a 20 year deal to buy their product.
I just hope the AAL incident distracts from the LUV incident
If you’re in on DNUT you gotta get some Southwest Airlines to match. LUV DNUTz
I'm feeling like LUV puts should be an easy decision given they are trying everything in their power to alienate their customers, but the billionaire investor class loves that shit so they'll probably shoot up on guidance about losing even more customers by introducing new fees and eliminating perks.
Ok, this one can go up as long as AAL and LUV go down.
just need time on it, lol i got LUV 27.5P Nov that is -30%
RCL, CCL, DAL, LUV… all traveling again.. no tariffs
I watch your channel and love your work! You have mentioned LUV many times and always have the same reasoning, margins mean reverting. But you never give a reason as to why they have declined and stayed down in the first place and what reasons you think they will return to pre-covid levels. Would like to hear your thoughts on that
Rollin down Superior Highway National Guard by my Side We were born to riot I LUV LA!
Buy stocks with clever ticker symbols. EAT, BARK, HOG, WOOF, ZAP, VROOM, FIZZ, GROW, NICE, WOW. It doesn’t matter what the companies do, it’s fun names. These are stock symbols I LUV.
The only reason they care is because they hold a bunch of LUV
Elliott Investment Management ruins all companies it gets into. RIP LUV.
A Southwest Airlines employee I know got offended when I booked my flight on another airline. You sold out to private equity and got rid of anything that made you different from your competition. Puts on LUV
Hi regards, I have calls on NVIDIA and Tesla… LUV looks like it keeps going up progressively
TSLA , NVDA, LUV, AAL. Say hello to my bottom bitches
I'm wondering if we might be seeing a little squeeeeeezie action on the airlines like JBLU and LUV? Particularly JBLU with \~20%+ short interest.
Cost of flights continues to drop. I'm going to buy some LUV puts leading up to their next ER. I mean they keep letting me rebook the same flight and giving me a credit each time lol. My round trip is now 50% less than when I first booked it two months ago.
Are they trying to blame Newark on Pete B? Bigly puts on air travel, the cost of flights is falling fast. I definitely buying puts for LUV earnings in July.
LUV and AAL both said travel is fkd and both have been pumping ever since. This market, smh 🤦♂️
I LUV U
Someone plz stop me from buying puts on LUV
Any one shorting LUV? Care to give me some info?
Anyone know why LUV is up over 1% when all the other big airlines are down over 1%.?
Is this LUV? That I’m feeling?
Yup. Total clown show over here. 5/7 VIX 70 Call 5/16 AAPL $110 Put 5/16 CALM $55 Put 5/16 JBHT $85 Put 5/16 RIVN $7 Put 5/16 TGT $70 Put 5/16 TSLA $145 Put 6/16 EXPD $95 Put 6/20 LUV $17.5 Put
Unnecessary. If we wanted to invest in a low budget airline company that has consistent delayed flights and charges for baggage we would just invest in LUV.
AAL and LUV just chillin not doin a damn thing all week lol 😂 why did I buy June LEAPS for them
Came here to say this! The flexible model was the reason people flew LUV. But who in their right mind wants to deal with 2 and 3 segment flights for the same price and hassle with seating. Not me. Bye bye LUV.
Incredibly tone deaf move by the C-suite of LUV. We made a disastrous decision to set ourselves - the same as - every other competitor. Ok - so… Let’s scape goat the also massive economic and political headwinds faced by every other (checks notes) : person, family, business, corporation, multinational conglomerate, and businesses that are people (my friend).
LUV and AAL both say that people are traveling less yet they pump. Wthhhhhhhh. I sold my AAL shares for a $3k loss yesterday. Wish I just held.
damn , my $LUV calls lost 50% at the opening even though it expires next week lol. Still down 37% when its green.
wtf are AAL and LUV doing ?
Futures quiet after yesterday’s big rally Earnings today: $PG $LUV $PEP $AAL all bad. $DOW good $GOOG of course reports after the close. That’s the main event for today
What kind of options strategy do you usually trade? The earning was out already on 4/15 so there isn’t any big event. LUV earnings was today and AAL is tomorrow - so most of the volatility is already out and things are mostly priced in. Given you mentioned target price, I assume you mostly bet on directional trades? Feel like that’s more affected by macro events now given earnings are out (so economics numbers and tariff related news etc)
What does that matter in LUV stock thread? Essentially a domestic airline.
LUV is Thursday before open no?
Did $LUV leak earnings wtf loll

$LUV calls. Massive corporate restructuring, added bag fees.
got in on some relatively cheap DAL puts, AAL and LUV earnings will send airlines further into the gutter
might get some AAL and LUV puts for earnings. Guidance is going to be *horrendous*. Some downside is currently baked in, doubt 100% of it is.
ELV pre announced earnings (similar business to UNH) and they expect to beat earnings estimate. They did, however, expand their Medicare Advantage enrollment… although they claim that it won’t be an issue for them (that’s the reason UNH dropped was costs associated with MA). Puts are imo too risky, so long as they don’t say anything dumb the stock goes up. General Motors has earnings on 4/29 BMO, considering grabbing puts as the guidance will be heavily dependent on raw materials & 🥭. Shorting Tesla seems like a bad move in general. American Airlines (AAL) looks like a good shorting opportunity, last quarter for them was embarrassing and I don’t see how the company can turn around now. Contrarily, LUV is in a slightly better spot than AAL, but I don’t see the benefit in playing their earnings. Intel is in a unique position as a semiconductor business, but tariffs for raw materials will make it difficult for the company to issue good guidance. The Google lawsuit is likely going to be a non-issue for earnings. The big mover for the week is probably a stock I didn’t mention tbh.
After the NEA break down AAL won’t want to acquire them. Too much debt and too much overlap from an acquisition standpoint. The alliance made sense to allow AAL to shift capacity as they wanted to reduce their own in the NE. UAL has a weird overlay with JBLU. Network wise, their overlap is advantageous from an extension standpoint - UAL has EWR and IAD, JBLU has JFK and DCA. East-West there’s not much overlap as JBLU focuses on west coast and UAL has a hub in DEN. So building hub/spoke would be a whole effort while also losing slots in JFK and DCA most likely. DAL already has a base in Boston. They also have LGA and JFK slots. So getting JBLU would probably see a loss of slots. I’m more convinced LUV will target Breeze if anything. It’s small and fits the strategy of not using major airports the best. Adding a major hub/spoke operation to the more decentralized LUV model would be a major effort. Air travel is run at a loss and really are just credit card companies in disguise. The new lounges and their Amex cards should keep them afloat to attract cardholders to create spend. At some point they probably will need to reorg but unless Frontier really wants to get into the CC more, I don’t see a viable buyer at this time. The legacy carriers are too big and weighed down, and the ULCC run too bare bones to add on JBLU’s operation.
Based on the fairly positive #s from DAL, I like LUV and JBLU -- domestic business travel and short-hops are gonna stay busy with more normal tariff situation.
Airlines were the first to sound alarm on consumer slowdown. I’d be watching AAL or LUV
Shorting any airline or cruise line is usually a good play in a recession. On the other hand, airline and cruise line stocks are already down 50% from their ATHs because everybody already thought of that. You'll need to decide for yourself whether you'd rather short a good airline (LUV, ALK) because it hasn't fallen quite as far yet, or short a bad one (UAL) because it already had underlying problems.
Pretty sure LUV already was on a wing and a prayer
Imagine if he chose good for once with all that power. Instead of petty revenge. Lul if your parents were millionaires and they couldn't even AFFORD to help you with a second of your life. If it didn't have to affect nearly half the nation in the poor decisions to choose selfishness over genuinely being the good guy who could LITERALLY cure cancer. Just imagine. But instead we stare at the red candle burning bright. And the future red on the horizon. GONDOR calls for aid. Puts on LUV Southwest.
Of course I buy LUV puts when every other airline is going down.
I’m thinkin some long dated LUV puts
25% tarrifs on a huge sector of our economy Market: WE LUV 🥭
Puts on LUV and AAL. Air travel going down faster than a Boeing
I just sold my shares now that we’re past the dividend ex-date. This little bump in stock price from the announcement is a good parting gift reducing my losses in the stock. I strongly believe this move is bad for LUV’s long term profitability. On paper, they’ve opened up a new revenue stream, but as others have stated, they just evaporated their differentiation with the legacy carriers, now their only differentiation is that they fly point to point. Which admittedly is important, but guess what…ULCCs also fly point to point, snd now LUV only has a free drink, pretzels, and pay-for-WiFi separating them from ULCCs. That’s not a lot if they want to continue charging fares multiple times higher than the ULCCs. Unless they plan to reduce fares (thus offsetting their bag revenue), I don’t see a path to higher profits now that they are “just another airline”. Qualitatively, I also get very nervous when I see a company’s culture and DNA being gutted, that tends to lead to turnover, disengagement, and loss of focus. Not a path to sustainable profits.
Every airline is tanking but LUV, which I have puts on. Make it make sense
