You gotta check out $BOBA on Base. It looks primed for a rip. Very low mc of 1M. Think it’ll turn into a BOME type stock. I’ve been following since release and I quite like it. You must have been jumping on memecoins and shitcoins. Why not look into some smart-contract-powered tokens like ETH, MATIC, BNB. And if you're not interested in blue-chips you can check out those mid/low caps like BOBA or QANX.

Layer 2’s will do well next bull, we have some great options to invest in such as ARB, OP, and MATIC but I found this other one called BOBA. It’s on Kraken exchange rank 427 and has a 42 million dollar market cap. Just wondering is anyone has heard of it? Going to do some research.

If that happens I'm sure ETH will take the lead and other smart-contract-powered tokens will follow suit particularly the low caps like BOBA, QANX and CTSI.

All the ones you mentioned are quality blockchain infrastructures. I'm closer to Moonbeam (GLMR) which is a nice Polkadot parachain. It has been a while since DIA integrated with Moonbeam. I've used many of their Oracles to build there. Which of them would you pick right now? QANX, BOBA, or GLMR?

Aside from the AI tokens, others mentioned including BTC, ETH, MATIC, FTM and DOT are all smart contract platform tokens with large market cap. Don't you look into mid/low market caps like GLMR, QANX, BOBA, FUSE, etc at all?

It's smart-contract platform tokens for me, particularly the low caps likes of BOBA, TOMO, QANX, FUSE, etc.

Optimism and Arbitrum had multiple rounds of investment too. Difference is that the chains actually work as intended. I'll like anyone who has ever used this BOBA to indicate here. Cos I wonder where the $1.3bn TVL came from.

Polygon will be a top performer in this list. This is because the Layer 2 narrative is still strong & it has upcoming products like the zkEVM to be launched. I expect other Layer 2 coins (METIS, CTSI, BOBA) to follow also since they got amazing tech as well.

1 year ago I made my best trades when OMG was airdropping BOBA. Whales were buying OMG and shorting on the futures market to hedge and get the free airdrop. I made 15400% in 48 hours by taking advantage of the difference between futures mark price and trading price. If bitcoin didn't drop so much after peaking, setting me back 90% as everything followed bitcoin, it could have been much higher. 1 year from now I'm probably still hoping and waiting for another opportunity like this. If I ever see the same opportunity I'll give it another go with much more capital.

I made quite a large amount last november during the BOBA airdrop for OMG holders. Since we don't pay capital gains taxes here(we have wealth tax, for now atleast) I decided to donate about 5-10% to help less fortunate families have an awesome christmas by supplying assorted food boxes and gifts for the children. I have actually done this when OMG holders would get the BOBA airdrop back in november 2021. This caused massive buy pressure on the spot market. Big players however decided to hedge their purchase by shorting it on the futures market. This caused a massive difference between the two markets. So once the difference got too big I started going long with max leverage and repeated it many times for 48 hours exponentially growing available money. On top of that I also got the funding fee every 8 hours. Ended up with 15.400% profit. Could have been a bit more had I been a little less greedy, but I was pumping with adrenaline. I have been waiting for a similar opportunity, only this time I know exactly what to do and I have a lot more available funds. Still a completely different situation though, so I will wait for the right time(if it even comes).

Here’s a block of text I put together from some conversations in developer forums. L2 + UTxO I believe the problem using BTC this way is that its accounting system, UTxO, is not able to settle smart contracts effectively or essentially at all. “The [Ethereum Virtual Machine] has global state and ability for distinct objects to atomically interact with each other without pre-transaction coordination. You can fill-or-kill arbitrary interactions across distinct applications which are completely unaware of each other. [Bitcoin] does not have a OP_BALANCE to query an object outside of the output atomically, let alone an atomic OP_CALL in a synchronous global runtime. This is the concrete advantage the EVM has when it comes to being able to implement [smart contracts]. It has to do with the fact that A and B can synchronously and atomically call each other and cause native state changes either way, even if one is deployed with no knowledge of the other. [UTxO] has no global state and all secondary protocols are overlays must be aware of each other to interact. [UTxO] is a local pure function of data given with the transaction (except for a few state header state variables like timestamp which take constant space and remain constant while evaluating a single block).” On the differences between programming BTC and ETH “Bitcoin Script and EVM are either both turing complete or neither turing complete, but this doesn't matter. The EVM not only has a global shared state that can be touched by arbitrary computations and so the validation path is inherently sequential, but can also perform logic depending on the result of these sequential calls. UTXO strictly limits the form of dependent transactions which means they can still be validated in parallel. When Bitcoin programmers try to convince EVM programmers that Bitcoin Script is turing complete, they miss the point. Bitcoin Script cannot be a platform for financial apps that manipulate bitcoin in arbitrary ways on-chain in the same way that EVM can manipulate Ether. Anyone that disagrees is trying to sell you an L2 solution, an application.” : (1.) For true zk rollup L2, the qualities of an L1 and L2 are shared when used in tandem to process a tx. Therefore characteristics (decentralization, speed, security) of the underlying L1 are of course the most important factor here. This means, transaction speeds, for example, on an L2 are directly proportional to that of the L1 it is settling on. Same for decentralization and security. Ex: Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync (2.) There is a type of protocol that people have come to also call “L2” that are not really so. They act as centralized validators to batch tx, but use their own qualities and are not “embedded” into the L1 like those L2s described in (1.) They are more akin to “side chains” Ex: Polygon, BOBA. These types of L2s might be recreated on BTC but as stated above: [UTxO] has no global state and all secondary protocols are overlays must be aware of each other to interact. What if I want to execute an interaction with another person, on a small private L2 chain, but I want our interaction to include another L2 protocol that is very popular but not interoperable with our chain? Well with a UTxO-based L1, it won’t be possible.

I made 15400% profit in about 2 days taking advantage over the BOBA airdrop for OMG holders. People were buying OMG and hedging it by shorting on the futures market to get free BOBA. This caused a massive difference between spot and futures market. Since bybit uses the spot market index as treshold for liquidations I was able to use high leverage with barely any risk of getting liquidated. 25× leverage and a 20% margin before getting liquidated. So I just opened and closed my position increasing the size rapidly and squeezing shorts. On top of that shorts paid the lings massive funding fees the last day before snapshot. Ending at -3% with the funding fees of course also getting multiplied by the leverage.

Layer-2s are where you're supposed to be doing small transactions. Ethereum mainnet **is** expensive to use, because it's the most secure, battle-tested and most decentralized smart contract platform available. Blockspace on mainnet is in high demand and so it's not worth paying to post a small transaction directly to the chain. Which is why we use L2s. The L1 will never be cheap to use, there are no upgrades planned that are even intending to significantly reduce transaction cost. The only ways to do it would be to reduce demand or increase supply of blockspace. Increasing the available blockspace would mean increasing the validator hardware demands and therefore meaning that fewer people could interact directly with the chain to produce blocks, post transactions and verify state. This compromise has been made by pretty much all of the cheap to use chains like BSC, but goes against the values of Ethereum, which prioritizes decentralization and security above scaling the L1. As for L2s, Polygon PoS is perfectly fine for small transactions. It isn't a rollup and as such doesn't have the security or trustlessness of something like Optimism, Arbitrum or BOBA, but it's probably good enough for getting to grips with DeFi and testing things out. The Optimistic rollups offer probably be best balance between utility and cheap fees while having a better level of security than sidechains like Polygon PoS and xDAI. For the cheapest way to just send tokens from one place to another the zkSync might be the best bet, or other ZK rollups like LoopRing and Polygon Hermez. Also in the L2 mix somewhere are the other Polygon ZK projects and StarkWare's StarkNet. All of these are build upon the foundation of Ethereum's L1, meaning that they rely on it for security, and will be using a significant amount of the fees they collect to pay to post their proofs onto mainnet. The future of Ethereum will be as a backbone for rollups, with average users never touching it directly. It seems pretty nuts to despise something just because it's growing beyond how you first used it. I think Polygon founder Sandeep Nailwal lays out the case for Ethereum pretty well - an example from yesterday's news: *Ethereum has strongly emerged as the fundamental settlement layer 1 of Web3, and for Layer 1, you need extreme decentralisation, extreme security, and reliability of the chain, that’s when people invest billions in it. Some of the Layer 1 (Solana, Avalanche) chains that became popular have also gone down. With Ethereum, that has never happened. The network effect, and that credibility, is improving and growing by the day, whereas any other Layer 1 has to go through this organic cycle of building this trust, building the developer community, the tooling around all the things having hacks actually on your chain. So, in that journey, Ethereum is extremely far ahead, and we don’t see any other Layer 1. My theory is not only about Etherium versus other Layer 1, I think even between Ethereum and Bitcoin, Ethereum is also going to win eventually.* https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/startup/jaynti-kanani-sandeep-nailwal-on-why-ethereum-will-win-and-building-an-aws-for-web3-8061751.html

Post is by: Maswasnos and the url/text [ ](https://goo.gl/GP6ppk)is: /r/CryptoCurrency/comments/s4r5k5/overview_of_current_ethereum_rollup_solutions/ **High-level L2 Ecosystem Overview** You’ve probably heard about “L2” by now; it’s Ethereum’s solution to the blockchain trilemma. Rather than try to do everything on mainnet, new cryptography concepts have enabled the off-loading of transaction execution to secondary networks called rollups. These secondary networks will be able to “inherit” the security of Ethereum mainnet while bundling thousands of transactions together for drastic fee savings. For more on the details and theory behind rollups, check out Polynya’s blog: https://polynya.medium.com/ But enough about theory- what rollups exist today? What differentiates them? What risks are there? First, some useful resources: https://l2fees.info/ - A simple overview of what some common actions cost on several rollups compared to Ethereum mainnet https://l2beat.com/ - An incredibly useful site aggregating all sorts of up-to-date information about layer-2s https://defillama.com/chains – Statistics aggregator for DeFi. Great for comparing TVL between chains and rollups. Now, the major players in the rollup space: * [Arbitrum](https://portal.arbitrum.one/) – The largest rollup by TVL and by number of deployed dApps. Arbitrum uses fraud proofs for security, and usage is very similar to mainnet. Currently centralized and does have admin keys during beta. Fees are a few dollars. * [StarkWare](https://starkware.co/) – Creators of StarkNet and StarkEx. StarkNet is their general-purpose rollup which is currently in mainnet alpha and only has “test” apps right now. StarkEx is the rollup tech powering dYdX, ImmutableX, DeversiFi, and Sorare. Uses validity proofs for security, and each StarkEx app has different security attributes. StarkEx apps have over a billion dollars in combined TVL, easily the 2nd largest rollup by that measurement. * [Optimism](https://gateway.optimism.io/) – Arbitrum’s main fraud proof competitor. Usage is again very similar to mainnet and has a decent number of deployed apps. Currently centralized with admin keys and the fraud proofs are not yet operational. Has been un-whitelisted since December 2021, and fees are a bit lower than Arbitrum’s. * [Loopring](https://loopring.io/#/) – Everyone has probably heard of LRC by now, but you might not know that it was the first operational validity proof rollup! LRC has been operational for well over a year now and recently launched their L2 smart wallet app. They’re one of the few rollups with a token right now. Loopring has fairly good security, their main flaw is that there is no delay on code updates; they do have an operational “escape hatch” however. Fees are generally under $1 for transfers. * [Metis Andromeda](https://www.metis.io/ecosystem-partners/) – A fork of Optimism, Metis has set out to be a home for DAOs so that they can more seamlessly cooperate with each other and with the broader digital economy. They currently share all of the drawbacks of Optimism, although there is a METIS token available. * [Boba Network](https://boba.network/ecosystem/) – Another optimistic rollup made with forked code from Optimism, Boba is built by the Enya team at the OMG foundation. They share the same vulnerabilities as the other Optimism forks, and like Metis they do have a token (BOBA). It’s still relatively early days for Boba, and it remains to be seen how well they stack up against competitors since they’re also aiming to be a general-purpose L2. * [zkSync](https://zksync.io/) – Created by Matter Labs, zkSync is aiming to be a major player in the zkEVM space. Their current product “zkSync 1.0” is available today with transfers/trades and limited NFT functionality, but 2.0 is in testnet which is aiming to have full EVM compatibility. ZkSync is arguably one of the safest rollups currently with a 14-day delay on code updates and an operational escape hatch should the operator go down. There is currently no token, although zkSync has confirmed that they intend to move to community governance in the future. Fees are generally under $1 for transfers. * [ZKSwap](https://www.zks.org/) – Similar to Loopring, ZKSwap is designed to be a validity-proof-based L2 DEX with transfers and an NFT marketplace. There are subtle differences in the tech design of ZKSwap vs. Loopring which I won’t get into here. ZKSwap does have an 8-day delay on updates and an operational escape hatch function, and it also has a token (ZKS). It does not have a fiat onramp I'm aware of, unlike zkSync and Loopring. * [Aztec](https://zk.money/) – Also known as zk.money, Aztec is the only operational rollup aiming to be a privacy network. Currently zk.money 1.0 is live and available for “shielding” transactions, and they plan to launch 2.0 in 2022 along with “decentralization”. If they’re able to achieve EVM compatibility, you could essentially have monero-like privacy while using Ethereum-based assets and apps. They currently have some of the strongest security with zk.money 1.0, although it is limited to simple payments. * [Polygon](https://polygon.technology/get-started/) – Everybody knows about the MATIC sidechain (commit-chain?) but you might not know that Polygon is also a tech leader in the zk-rollup space. They’ve acquired several cutting-edge teams and are developing several projects such as Miden, Nightfall, Zero, and Hermez. Their operational zk rollup product is Hermez, which only performs simple payments at the moment and has some compromises in terms of security. It’s unclear whether the MATIC token will have a role to play in the rollup economy, but Polygon itself is likely to be around for a long time as they’ve developed important tech in the space. Hopefully I’ve given each major rollup a fair summary. I highly recommend reading the information on l2beat.com to understand where each rollup stands in terms of adoption and security. If you’d like to try one out, evaluate your own security needs relative to the value of your investment, and proceed accordingly. If you find an ecosystem you enjoy, pay close attention to it! New things are happening nearly every day in this space and staying abreast of all the updates is like drinking from a firehose. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/CryptoCurrency) if you have any questions or concerns.*

To get the airdrops from successful and profitable protocols you must participate and be active in them. I got the ENS airdrop because I bought ENS names and actively used them; I got the BOBA airdrop because I was an early believer in OMG foundation; 1inch and Uniswap airdropped their tokens to users of their exchanges. Find a protocol that you actually enjoy and believe in and they will reward you, whether it's their token or their services, it's as simple as that

From what I tried to understand about LRC and BOBA for that matter a lot of the TVL comes from their native tokens. I am interested to see how it plays out , I don't really know who will win out but will buy some LRC and MATIC to offset each other.

When OMG holders would get BOBA as airdrop I made a crazy move. A lot of whales were interested in getting BOBA, but they didn't want to just buy OMG and lose a lot of money when it gets dumped after the snapshot. So they bought OMG and shorted it a lot to hedge themselves essentially getting free BOBA. Because of this a huge difference between the spot market and derivatives market started to arrise. The price in the derivatives market was over 20% lower and at moments I believe even 30%. Now since bybit doesn't use the derivatives index as liquidation indicator, but instead uses the spot index I saw the opportunity to go long hard after the massive short dump of whales. I went long 25× and it was near impossible to get liquidated since the spot index price was so much higher. Normally when you go 25× long you would get liquidated with a 2% drop (2% is insurance and 2% is the space you have total is the 4%; 25×4%=100%). But since there was this massive difference I could go long 25× and would only get liquidated with a price drop of 20%+. So I started building up my position like crazy. Going long 25× and realizing gains at like 50%-100% only to get a bigger position. Eventually making trades worth a couple $100k (of course with the leverage). Because these trades got so big and a lot people appeared to do the same quite a bit shorts were hurt of people who FOMO shorted too late. I'm sad there wasn't enough time to fully squeeze the shorts because the snapshot was coming. But I still made a 15400% profit in a day.

I am interested to see what happens with eth L2 in the future but as of right now the big L2 options don't have the easiest on ramp options. I am looking at the top 5 L2 by TVL via this [site](https://l2beat.com/). As of today I think only arbitrum has a really cheap cex option directly to arbitrum network, and its only via CDC afaik. DyDx isn't available in all countries so not sure that would be considered a great option. BOBA is 66 usd to send eth over to L2 and LRC is 50 usd to send over eth. Thats a bit on expensive side for most people I think. I think more options like CDC to all l2 would a step in right direction. Its nice that CDC offers cheap bridge to polygon and arbitrum right now, hopefully more exchanges will expand the options to L2, or easier fiat on ramps would be nice as well.

In no way is this a BOBA shill btw, BOBAs code is forked from Optimism. They also haven't activated fraud proofs yet, so theres a lot of reasons to be skeptical here. But the data surrounding their growth is interesting anyway.

BOBA. EVM compatible Layer 2s are going to be the enxt big thing, and this is the largest with a token. LRC is also good, but limited in its use case, and has already mooned a fair bit.

They use BOBA coin as govenance token. And ETH for paying fees. In september they said this, but since then they have been quiet about it : Roadmap and partners Currently on the Boba testnet, ETH is used as the main cost token. According to official documents, the follow-up Boba mainnet will give priority to supporting OMG tokens as cost tokens. Boba’s long-term vision is to support as many fees as possible.
