Thoughts on the future of Lidar Technology Stocks?
Mentions
There are many Lidar based companies currently and some like AEVA have OEM and industrial contracts. As much as I like MVIS you should take a look at AEVA. https://preview.redd.it/a9k8ug87qe9f1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8551ed4b31e20649e20eda0ee0b571223666b4a
What’s the potential for AEVA? If you had to guess a target market cap a year from now? Trying to understand how big their business could be. LIDAR seems so unpredictable
Everyone should be looking at $AEVA
I own all, weighted towards MVIS and AEVA the most. Those two are my fav for sure.
Nice to see MVIS shared here again. For those interested, we probably have the most active penny stock subreddit at r/MVIS if you want to dive deeper into the recent action. Besides OP's points the sustained elevated volume over the past two weeks is notable. Last week Monday traded over 20M shares, and Friday hit 21M with an 11M closing cross. Most of the other days since have been around 10M shares traded — way above the 90-day average of 5M. That kind of volume suggests someone is accumulating, maybe in anticipation of upcoming news. Longs are still waiting on an industrial deal that was mentioned by Sumit at the retail investor day, expected by September. There are also old executive incentive share price tiers — $12, $18, $24, $36 — if the stock holds those levels for 20 trading days in 2025. Feels out of reach right now, but I'd think possible if MVIS technology is validated with industrial + defense or an auto oem win. Also worth pointing out: look at AEVA and OUST lately. They’ve been ripping, and while MVIS has a bigger float, it’s also more heavily shorted. So if a legit deal comes through, the upside could be massive — possible short and gamma squeeze potential.
As a retired rocket scientist, I took out some boutique positions in $RKLB, $LUNR, $RDW & $PL, and used the "Day of Liberation" tariff swoon to add to those positions. With the exception of $AEVA, these puppies have been my highest flyers. :)
I held off on AEVA calls yesterday at close. I’m depressed
why is no one ever talking about AEVA
To this day I regret staring at Ouster and AEVA and watching them go up 600% YTD and did nothing about it. Fuck me
This is unpopular with a lot of folks due to the risk and that's fine but I haven't been looking at any of the mature stocks over the past few months, all small and micro cap. I know that's probably not sustainable long term but right now stocks like RKLB, ASTS, OUST, AEVA, PONY (before the 50% dip), ACHR, RDW, PL, BKSY. I'm up big since April thanks to these.

Anyone buy AEVA? Up 760% in 3 months???
Yep, every dip, every major Lidar manufacturer, LAZR, OUST, AEVA, HSAI, etc… Lidar demand will be like NVDA chips for the next 50 years.
Except for HSAI, all Lidar stocks (LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, OUST, ARBE, LIDR). I remember debating some users that they all had issues with signal degradation and there were just too many to determine the winners.
AEVA is very interesting, 600% over the last 3 months.

I’ve had huge returns on AEVA(300%), LASR(100%), and ARBE(70%). LAZR was a bust but I got out just about even (the stock that taught me a lot of the above points). Waiting for LXRX to turn a bigger profit. Watching XENE and a whole bunch of Quantum computing stocks right now.

I don’t see LXRX or ARBE. Made a lot of money on the latter; expect to do so on the former within the next few weeks. Did really well with AEVA(5X) too but I don’t know if that qualifies.
$AEVA is a very good short here, extremely overbought
The Lidar field is too crowded (LAZR,INVZ,AEVA,,OUST,ARBE,LIDR,MVIS, HSAI) to pick a winner. I heard none of them have really overcome the signal degradation issues and why cameras and radars will all need to be used in concert for effective, safe FSD. I think Tesla is kidding themselves with cameras only and why they need massive compute power to do it. One major power outage will cause them to re-evalute particularly in the US. If I was betting on one, it would be HSAI.
Ok how old are you? You can start over. Yes AMC wasn't the best. But start saving... Buy an ETF that pays you dividends(everyone has their favorite I'm not even going to go there)...then if you feeling better buy some slices and great companies that offer dividends... 3-4 max .. say Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, Oracle, O (realty)... Finally, once you're back up like 3-5k try to find a good speculative stock.... Don't dump 1K in one.... But buy a little bit at a time of like AEVA, OP, ASTS. Lucid Finally don't sell all of AMC people are going to the movies. You get nothing back if you sell it all. And look at our current administration and what's going on in the world renewable energy green stocks nah you got to be looking at oil stocks and things that this particular administration favors I had to learn that the hard way and get out of my feelings. Hope this help probably going to get like a thousand thumb Downs

I’m all about self driving cars: INVZ, HSAI, AEVA, LAZR
AEVA.. About 95% down by today
Luminar has really horrendous burn rate & cash on hand but could see a really big bump leading up to Tesla August 8th Robo taxi announcement as Tesla is their biggest customer, but Tesla is against Lidar and has been testing many brands. Should I buy? I’m deep in AEVA with a little INVZ
There are too many LiDar players to determine the winner - HSAI, LAZR, AEVA, OUST, ARBE, LIDR, MVIS - they all have issues with signal degradation and is the reason TSLA used camera. I am reading that TSLA may be adding LiDar but time will tell. It will probably be their in-house tech.

because a week ago i turned 100% off of an AEVA call and im still riding that high
Here is another gem if your looking AEVA.. and EVA, I own them both and riding to the moon..
AEVA and EVA are rocking!! Rock on rock on..
Sorry man, I’m in the same boat with AEVA stock because I though that since Apple techs left the company to start a Lidar company that Apple would use their product in their car. Well, who knows if Apple will ever produce a car and I have stock that’s basically a penny stock now for which I way overpaid. Win some, lose some.
Commenting on Thoughts on my portfolio? (Repost)... Solid base, I like the foundation of Apple, AMD, BA. Would keep feeding those and add a $CVX or $OXY for some energy exposure. $O is an interesting look for a monthly dividend and gets you into real estate. Turn on the drip and let dividends from all those compound for 40 years and you’ll be doing alright. You are so young I would encourage taking a chance on a speculative growth stock or two as well. Personally I would not put any more into $CHPT. Only down 12% you have a decent cost basis and can hold on for a spike to get out with some greens. Decent short position on that one, could see it popping up with a solid earnings and a squeeze. Check out $AEVA, pretty good tech, former Apple engineers started it and first major ~$1B contract in hand from Daimler which validates their tech is best in class. Super speculative but could be exponential returns if their story plays out over next 5 years. $NET, $SOFI and $SHAK all growth stocks I would look into with your time horizon. Waiting for pullbacks on all at this point and buying in small chunks over time. Whatever you buy make sure you have enough time to stay on top of news / earnings calls on all stocks you own so can adjust if the narrative changes on the core reasons you bought it in first place. If you can’t dedicate the time lean into less stocks and more ETFs.
AEVA. Founded by ex Apple engineers. Just announced $1 billion deal with Daimler Truck. Stock hits lows of $0.50 and is now $1.17. strong volume.
>AEVA banned ticker, get out nerd
What will happen with AEVA? Honestly I have no idea how y'all missed it!! 🚀🚀
My money would be on TSLA as they have the most real world driving data. TSLA went with camera because they were more accurate and reliable (no signal degradation) versus Lidar. There are numerous Lidar companies - LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, OUST, Hesai, ARBE, LIDR, MVIS - too many to pick a winner but Hesai would be my bet. AUR, TSP for trucking.
I have some real big losers in my portfolio from when I was dumb buying stocks at ATH that I knew nothing about. Over the years I’ve gotten wiser and hardly ever buy individual stocks anymore. I’ve kept the losers to remind me of my foolish ways, but I’m not sure when to sell. At this point I only have about $1k left in these. Some of the losers: CRSR, NIO, AEVA, DM, DPRO. What’s the benefit of selling besides having a little more cash?
Personally too many players to know the winner - HSAI, LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, OUST, ARBE, LICR, MVIS. The big issue with most of them is still signal degradation and the reason TSLA went with cameras.
According to Yahoo, these are similar to QS LAZR Luminar Technologies, Inc. 6.99 -0.57 -7.54% HYLN Hyliion Holdings Corp. 1.9700 -0.1900 -8.80% MBLY Mobileye Global Inc. 42.02 -1.16 -2.69% INVZ Innoviz Technologies Ltd. 3.1700 -0.2000 -5.93% AEVA Aeva Technologies, Inc. 1.2900 -0.0900 -6.52%
I see CPTN has a contract with Ford. MVIS has been under the radar but received several RFQs. AEVA touts 4D lidar with camera level resolution. And there are others. I believe lidar is a strong tech to invest in, I'm just spreading the risk.
Lol pgy balance sheet looks horrible but the technicals are looking good. Might be another AEVA though hahaha
Lots of competition, LAZR, MVIS, AEVA to name a few. They may all do well or one may rise to the top.
/u/jinpiss /u/socialsuicidesquad are you still in AEVA? Looks like it's been mooning lately and about to break the 200sma soon. Looks really good on monthly charts too. Gross profits are -215% though, either moon or bankruptcy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Doubtful, to many players in the LiDAR space to determine winner - from LAZR, HSAI, AEVA, iINVZ, OUST, ARBE … total avoid.
You still holding AEVA? Or am I just bag holding for no reason right now?
U/SocialSuicideSquad why am I getting prolapsed by AEVA 🪑🪑🪑?
Laughing. Once again a Lidar has too many major competitors (LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, VLDR, OUST, ARBE, LIDR and some private companies like Hesai). None of them mentions the biggest issue - signal degradation ver time that they have not been able to overcome. This issue is why TSLA and Toyota have chosen cameras over Lidar, and autonomous driving companies are using combined camera, Lidar and radar. I personally think there will be some major bankruptcy and consolidation in this sector as there are just too many players to know who will win. Good Luck.
u/SocialSuicideSquad why do I have AEVA 🪑 again? And like a lot of them???
Here is my public service for the year… the answer is AEVA
Check out Aeva Technologies, Inc. $AEVA for LiDAR up 48% the past 6mo
Laughing. Once again a Lidar that fails to mentions the major competitor (LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, VLDR, OUST, ARBE, LIDR and the. major private companies like Hesai) and never mentions anything about signal degradation. This last issue is why TSLA and Toyota have chosen cameras over Lidar, and autonomous driving companies are using combine camera, Lidar and radar. I personally their will be some major bankruptcy and consolidation in this sector as there are just too many players to know who will win. Good Luck.
Ok I’ll bite - one question I have is what makes AEVA stand out against QNX, NVIDIA or other software developers that are in this space with arguably bigger RnD budgets?
AEVA V.L.D.R. and Luminar are the ones I'd bet on.
Race for autonomous trucking is absolutely about to catch on fire. My bet for first release is Daimler x Waymo, but overall I think the biggest winners are gonna be the low level suppliers - Lidar in particular. I'm thinking we see some announcements of investments or large purchase agreements this month so I'm the lowest strike on AEVA and V.L.D.R. because luminar is too pricey. Why this month - Tesla Semi actually exists now, new year new budget, buying now is trying to beat higher rates/inflation.
Anyone wanna help me with a DD on AEVA? I'm buying 3/17c
I've also been flipping AEVA July $2.50 calls. They've been consistently bouncing between $0.15-$35 multiple times throughout the week. It's been pretty easy to make money off it by being patient. Set buy thresholds at $0.15 and then immediately set them to sell at $0.30. NFA.
Could important please Tweet AEVA in the same sentence as LCID or TSLA?
Calls on AEVA? Its up 10% this week.
(AEVA) Apple car. (BLBD) EV School busses. (GM) - A little late to the EV market however using their dealerships as free charging stations they are setting themselves up nicely to compete in the EV market
Seriously… ever heard of AEVA?
You could try going long on 1,000 shares of AEVA or GSAT. Possibly ASTS or FSR in a lesser amount of shares.
BYND, AEVA and BIG. All sorted and small market cap to be squeezed 🚀
AEVA might be one small player in industrial lidar. Automotive lidar is Microvision’s game
$AEVA will prevail
LMAO, too many players in the Lidar market space (LAZR, AEVA. INVZ, VLDR, OUST, ARBE, LIDR. MVIS) and most market gurus do not even mention private China company Hesai. It is just too tough to determine the winner and no one, I repeat, no one has overcome the signal degration issues and is the reason TSLA choose cameras.
The problem with the Lidar segment is that there are too many players (LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, VLDR, OUST, ARBE, LIDR, MVIS) to determine who has the winning technology. In addition, the biggest player - Hesai - is rarely mentioned in any market analyses. In addition, the big issue is signal degradation over time and is the main reason TSLA went with camera technology. You can pumps somewhere else.
Wrong! It’s AEVA 4D LiDAR only one on the market! Volkswagen big investment who is AUDI Porsche and many others
I just have a hard time in the Lidar segment. Too many players (LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, VLDR, MVIS, LIDR) and no one mention Hesai that is control pricing I heard - just too many players to say who the winner will be. Also, no one has really addresses signal degradation issue to make me comfortable investing. Good Luck.
Argo AI was valued at 7.5 Billion in June when every Lidar company was overvalued and there was a lot of too early hype. Most public lidar stocks have fallen like 70% in value over that last year. Look at VLDR, LAZR, MVIS, LIDR AEVA, OUST. All significantly down over the last 8 months. While the Ford/Google connection for Argo AI will insulate it a bit from that correction/consolidation, it isn’t immune and likely is valued Billions less than the $7.5B back last June.
DPRO HTBX RCAT GSAT AUUD AEVA! Buy Low hold Long term! Help humanity! Let’s go!
In the case of VLDR, I personally would not concentrate on EPS but the overall segment (Lidar competition) and its position (strength / weaknesses) within the segment. I looked at the segment about 6 months ago, and decided there are just too many players in the Lidar space (LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, VLDR, OUST,ARBE,LIDR,MVIS) to determine the winner. People has been reporting that OUST has the best technology, but I never hear them mention [Hesai](https://www.hesaitech.com/en) that I hear was controlling pricing. I have not followed with the founder's issues with company - I personally would stay away. Here is an [old article](https://arstechnica.com/cars/2019/02/the-ars-technica-guide-to-the-lidar-industry/) that may help you - it is dated but still has some good information. Good Luck.
Good Luck, but I hear Hesai controls the pricing in the market. There are just too many players in the Lidar space (LAZR, AEVA, INVZ, VLDR, ARBE,LIDR,MVIS) to determine the winner. Don’t forget some of the companies that are associated with the self driving truck movement. One stock I’m invested in is AEVA. I believe they working with TuSimple and PLUS.
Merger vote is 1/31 & approved by SEC so it will be trading as QNGY come feb. Look at other lidar despacs (LIDR, LAZR, INVZ, AEVA, VLDR, OUST). Many of them tank because of overvalued deals. Whats nice about CCAC/QNGY is that it is the lowest valued lidar play with the highest amount of potential IMO. I would expect in the short term for commons to trail anywhere from 7-12 depending on market factors. Very possible that acquisitions and partnerships will be announced after public status. Lockup agreements also have a lot to do with short-term despac movement.
My lidar positions have been taken a beating, but lidar has always been a longer term play IMO. Need institutional investments to start flowing in, since it's beyond the scope of most retail interests....but revenue isn't great yet for most. Lidar related positions: LAZR, MVIS, & AEVA.
Anyblips else feeling pings from AEVA again? They down 50% but poised to climb back up the Lidar.
AAPL + GOEV + AEVA = icar
AEVA up big today. You think they are in talks with Apple to provide their lidar?
Head of Waymo went to AEVA also a lidar company with apple veterans. They have 4d LiDAR on a chip that’s something I think even Elon need to get to stage 4 autonomously driving
How is it that AEVA can have this 'large' customer and not be required to disclose who that customer is? Aren't public companies barred from hiding information. Isn't transparency required?
How will the near-term outcome for AUR be any different than VLDR, AEVA, OUST, INVZ?
Lidar stock that’s been on some Reddit people’s radar for a while. OUST & AEVA are couple others.
Honestly really surprised no one has mentioned AEVA or LAZR in this thread. They also seem to have promise imo. Only time will tell, but I definitely didn’t expect as many MVIS fans in this thread as I’ve seen. Will be doing much more DD into MVIS.
Or maybe there isn’t anything to be seen because I’m not trying to “push my bag” lol. Im just not gonna engage with you anymore because you clearly just want to make assumptions about my intentions. I’m invested in more LiDAR stocks than just OUST. Down on those too, and you don’t see me trying to “push my bag” with those. I’ve just been explaining why I believe in OUST a bit more than the competitors. I hold positions is $MVIS and $AEVA too, but I’m not trying to “push those bags.” Excuse me for thinking that a stock discussion sub might want to know my opinion on why I like my current largest position. I don’t give a rats ass if y’all buy OUST or not. I was legitimately looking for discussion about the LiDAR space. Thanks for making assumptions though.
Does anyone have any thoughts on $OUST? I’m heavily interested in the future lidar technology, and it’s looking to me like $OUST is in a great position to be an industry leader with their digital lidar in a few years. They have a fantastic team that they’re putting together after the acquisition of Sense Photonics. They just added the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks to their board, and they are currently the only publicly traded company that produces digital lidar which is far less expensive, has more applications, and is more scalable than the analog lidar of their competitors. Im currently down a decent amount with an average of $7.56 a share on this stock, but I still believe I will do well in the long term. Anyone else have any opinions on $OUST or any other lidar stocks? (Ex. $AEVA, $LAZR, $LIDR, $VLDR, $INVZ, and $MVIS)
