Alot of it is due to work culture/this need for everyone to feel special in everyone's eyes. Everyone here is fighting for validation from their higher ups, family, friends, that attractive person across the room instead of themselves and seeking community throufh those other outlets; and on top of that have gutted the idea of society. Had the same question recently as I have been holding GDX & SLVP for a while, while NEM was my only individual stock. Two weeks ago I added EGO. Rationale is that all of their balance sheet / income statement metrics still look reasonable, while at the same time their assets are all in safe jurisdictions (Canada, Greece, Turkey). But would love to hear other opinions.

Got a bit of EDVMF and EGO. I like to put the places on the map and those give me western Africa, Canada, Greece and Turkey. Let´s call it geodiversification. ;) Made a bit of money, trading EDVMF last year, so while I am not necessarily saying the gold sector is where you want to invest thinking a couple of years ahead, it is one, that offers nice opportunities for active traders. Also having just bought PLLHF and HL it gives the fine vibe of going treasure hunting, which feeds my inner child.
Unrelated to the main topic, but just grabbed an EGO leaf blower, mower, and trimmer and I am loving them week 1. Admittedly I have a small yard but getting to do all my yard work with one battery among all 3 tools and using like 10% charge was neat. The battery swapping feels techy haha.
I live in the northeast - We installed solar panels in 2022, same time as we put on a new roof. So far for us it’s been great. During this same year we updated our primary heat source to an electric heat pump (oil forced air backup), changed to electric water heater bought an EV. During majority of the year the solar panels cover the usage of my home and car and then some. The winter months don’t, but I build up enough excess throughout the year to cover the winter months. We bought the panels, and two tesla powerwalls, with 0.99%. Decided to invest the tax credit in the stock market, which has turned out well given the market performance. My monthly payment combined for the panels & powerwalls is less than what I use to pay per month for electricity alone. It’s also a fixed payment, unlike utility rate increases. Since I changed to heat pump, I buy maybe one tank of oil per year, which is needed during winter. I also get paid about $100-$200 each quarter for our solar production, and was paid $1,600 for the VPP program (after tesla takes their 20%). The tax credit I invested and will soon be the same value of my loan. At that point I can pay it off, but will most likely just keep the investments going. Also to add, all my tools are EGO (electric), even my snowblower and riding lawnmower, so the panels basically support the usage of majority of the items to keep my house running.

That is a tough one. I have had massive wins (10 baggers +) and the highs are very high. And I have had massive losses because I was too confident it would reverse, or I would "Average" in. Those lows suck. That is EGO and once I learned that, I try to remember it when I am dreaming of the big payout. Trading is gambling. The house always wins and although you might hit a hot streak, the longer you are in the odds are you will end up with $0. The best way to do it is to set stop losses and sell/buy price at the time of your trade. That way you take the emotion out of it and trade purely on your technicals. Trade as if you were on the Spectrum...no emotion just pure logic. You will start to realize where/when you are making technical mistakes, if you really understand a stock's trading behavior, or understand if a stock has momentum's etc. Emotions cloud all that and at that point you are trading on instinct and that will lead you to a $0 account. I admit, I struggle with it still. But I know what I typed above is correct and it is what I strive to do.
