They’re a backup company trying to pivot to being a security company. Most of the money they do make probably comes from backup appliances. Hard to tell as everything is subscription. Their focus has been on SaaS security solutions however. Garter even noted it as a concern in the latest B&R MQ.

I agree it is negative. I'm not in at $28 share. Although I have an ETF that holds Boeing. I'm not interested regardless. Aeronautics is a very interesting industry. My degree is in Aeronautics Management. You don't buy aviation for the short-term it is a very long-term investment. An Aeronautics company will spend billions of dollars I R&D often over the course of many years designing a new aircraft. When they are done they will have explosive profits for purchases over a couple quarters. Then they spend the next decade delivering those orders. Boeing will rebound and look the greatest company on the planet for a quarter. Then go back to lookin like shit. That next aircraft will likely be the MQ-28 an AI operated unmanned military recon plane. Ours and approved allues governments will pay. At that point the stock will fly the roof like Pfizer making the announcement for the covid vaccine. These are cyclical companies. You really need to look at 10 year earnings not quarterly when evaluating companies like this. Now is a good time to buy Boeing. Once they make the announcement of of a $1 trillion sale, that will all fall on a single quarters earnings report. It will already be too late to invest at a value.
My thoughts... Boeing is too big of a government contractor to be brought down by something like this. This was likely a hit job. Big daddy .GOV went in to save their favorite weapons producer. Short list of items that Boeing has built for the US war machine. F/A-18 Super Hornet - A twin-engine, supersonic, all-weather multirole fighter jet. EA-18G Growler - A carrier-based electronic warfare version of the F/A-18F Super Hornet. KC-46 Pegasus - A military aerial refueling and strategic military transport aircraft. P-8 Poseidon - A military aircraft developed for the United States Navy designed for anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), and shipping interdiction. AH-64 Apache - An advanced multi-role combat helicopter for the U.S. Army. CH-47 Chinook - A twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter. TL;DR: Unless Boeing purchases Spirit Aerosystems, I don’t see this company turning around. And even then, it’s going to take a long time. There’s not a lot of material news on the horizon that would move this stock in a positive direction. The rest: They delivered around 500 aircraft last year (YOY increase over 2022, but still below prepandemic) while Airbus was over 800. Boeing has about 5,000 orders while Airbus has over 8,000. Certain bets aren’t paying off - Boeing invested a ton of time and money trying to reinvent the wheel with the mostly composite 787, and it turns out that an Airbus using traditional techniques and materials with the same engines is almost just as efficient (CFM LEAP-1). Single aisle short haul jets (like the 737) are the bread and butter of both Airbus and Boeing, and Airbus is also out-producing Boeing almost 2:1 right now. You may have heard that the FAA has imposed a limit on how many 737s Boeing can build until they’re satisfied with Boeing’s quality control - that is true. But Boeing wasn’t even hitting that number *before* the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 incident in January. In addition to the high profile 737 MAX crashes in 2017 and 2018, Boeing more recently discovered manufacturing defects on new MAX jets last year (again, QC issues with Spirit Aerosystems. One was poor QC that led to difficulty attaching the vertical stabilizer on the tail, and the second - discovered from that error - was mis-drilled holes on the aft pressure bulkhead IIRC). Boeing is struggling to get exemptions for certifying the 737 MAX 7 and MAX 10. Until Boeing can figure out the 737 MAX series and reliably deliver it to customers, they will keep bleeding. Honestly you could stop reading here; solving the 737 issue both now and for what follows it are the primary challenges facing Boeing’s core business. But if you’re still reading: Longer term, Boeing put its “New Midsize Airliner” (NMA) program on ice in 2020 - before the pandemic. There’s talk of that program coming back online, but more pressing is developing a true successor to the 737. Slapping new wings and engines on it likely won’t be enough to comply with coming efficiency regs; Boeing has already said the 737 MAX family will be the last of the 737s (a design itself rooted in the now-ancient 707). New engines keep getting bigger and bigger (larger diameter = higher bypass ratio = greater efficiency), and the 737 is already struggling to accommodate the CFM LEAP-1s (hence all the software and workarounds that helped contribute to the crashes in 2017/2018). The 737 was originally designed with low bypass engines (very small engine diameter) that allowed it to sit very close to the ground. The massive 777X was originally supposed to be start being delivered in 2020. It’s 2024 and that still hasn’t happened. AFAIK, there are still zero orders for the 777X by domestic carriers. The 747 production line shutdown almost a decade ago. That was a huge cash cow for Boeing for decades. The 767 and 757 are also dead or dying (with the exception of a couple military programs - but we’ll get to that). On the government/military side, Boeing is hemorrhaging money on fixed-price contracts. Over the past decade, I think they’ve lost around $12B-14B. The only successfully managed program that comes to mind is the Navy’s P-8 Poseidon (anti-submarine variant of the 737-800). T-7 Red Hawk jet trainer. KC-46 Pegasus (aerial refueled based on the 767). MQ-25 Stingray (unmanned carrier-based tanker for the Navy). VC-25B (“Air Force One”). Starliner (their competitor to SpaceX Dragon). These programs have all turned into major money pits for Boeing. They walked away from the E-4B Nightwatch (heavily modified 747 “doomsday” plane program, which should have been a slam dunk for them. The MQ-28 Ghost Bat (unmanned fighter) and E-7 Wedgetail (airborne early warning aircraft) seem to be doing decent, but I think it’s too early to tell. Boeing and Lockheed are in competition to be the prime contractors on the F-22 replacement (called “Next Generation Air Dominance,” or NGAD), but it’s kind of hard to see Boeing getting that contract since they’ve been out of the fighter game for so long. So when you step back and take all that together…it’s probably not a great picture.

Honestly, the more I read it seems that most people just aren't discerning because they don't know what quality looks like. These folks really need to go do a vision pro demo, it leaves the MQ3 in the dust, and I think anyone pretending like it doesn't is not being objective.
This is in MR, or full VR? MQ3 full vr is great. If you have your hands in front of you and do a dramatic swoop across your field of view with your arm, you don’t see any ghosting?
I dont know if anyone who watched Zucks critique on the VP actually owns a MQ3, because that had to be a custom rig or they did post processing on the video. My MQ3 has major ghosting, so if you have any dynamic object that walks or moves through your field of view it looks like there is a warp wave moving around it. It makes it impossible to move around in the MR view for any duration. The VP does not have this, and I suspect it’s a big part of the price point. However, in Zucks video I didn’t see any ghosting despite it being recorded on an MQ3. Anyone have any ideas?
Seems like you're paying a premium of an extra 3000 dollars for a marginal improvements over the MQ3. Depends how much you want the best of the best, and i'll admit the apple pro is the best at the moment, it's not *that* much better

You can’t walk around in MR using the MQ3 without discomfort. Massive ghosting of objects and even your own limbs makes it a non starter for anyone looking for an actual quality ME experience. Vision Pro has none of those issues

But for now, I don't see this product in its current iteration or any variation thereof catching on, even if the price was cut in half. I know I lot a lot of fun pursuing my desktop via my Meta Quest 2, playing a few games on my RTX 4090 rig (again, I know the MQ2 is a different type of product)... But it's still a novelty that sits on top of a cabinet that currently needs charged and the dust cleaned off. Will Apple's Vision Pro be any different? I promise this - a demo won't be able to answer that. The only answer will be how many people will buy them and then keep using them regularly. I'm convinced the dropoff rate will be unprecedented for Apple products. Anywho, I'm just thinking out loud. Cheers!

In non SPAC news the PENN ESPN deal feels like a win for DIS, less so for PENN even if market likes it now. MQ jumping on extension of contract with SQ, but their margins are absolutely eroding. Makes PAYO earnings look more impressive. Advertising budgets feel constrained outside of the major players, PUBM & DOCS with guidance reduction. For DOCS Pharma in general, aside from those with obesity drugs, seem more cash strapped than I’d expect. A lot of penny pinching across the segment.

I just started into PYPL with a Buy/Write under $63 last week and have $65 ITM Puts for June I sold along with $57.50 for July and $52.50 for August. I do like BILL and MQ but PYPL offers the best valuation for a value investor like me. Just make sure to scale in appropriately on a downswing. I did 200 shares , 4 contracts at $65, 8 contracts at $57.50 and 16 contracts at $52.50. If you double on the way down you get the perfect cost basis when it bottoms. Then use premium to add shares when it does. This can take months but end up huge winners. Done this countless times over the last 22 years. If you can Sell Contracts just use a scale in buy system of 15,30,55 at support levels. That gets you to 100.
Agree, payment companies in general were probably too far out ahead of themselves, now probably at or near too much of a correction. It’s pretty much hit them all whether legacy (ex: GPN/FIS), unprofitable/growth (AFRM, MQ, PAYO, PAY), and then even the titans pretty near just range bound back to Feb 2020 (V & MA).

Random earnings musings, mostly not SPAC related MQ: it’s a sad use of a mountain of capital for an unprofitable company, with slowing growth, to have no better use than buybacks. I once really liked this company, but they look poorly managed. EXFY: One of my favorite small company CEOs, wish they had a deeper product offering. ML: Company still questionable, but they seem to execute well. SKIN: I thought a good report, particularly given overall conditions. UPST: bad earnings are in? CELH: a mini monster, one I wish I’d never sold

Thoughts on $MQ? I bought in at $4.38 for a swing but have no idea on future prospects.

Most, if not all, of these are also already inside the FTSE fund.
They even have DAVE, Better (this one was so trash it didn't even manage to close the SPAC merger), BFLY, LanzaTech. Then MQ, AFRM, ROOT, GDRX which are down like 80-90% since they IPOed. Almost everything from that list that went public (ABNB and DUOL are exceptions) is down at least 70%.

FIRE SALE on MQ this morning In no way imaginable was earnings bad at all . Very few companies I know grow revenues as consistently and as predictable as MQ. Reminds me of Discover Card at 4 . Down 21% and the headlines I read was next quarters guidance is for 28% rev growth as opposed to the 28.28 % estimate . Get outta here... anything under 5 is a gift

That's not unusual for Have\_A\_Nice\_Fall because they've had some problems throughout the season. Remember, they barely snuck into the playoffs with a 7-7 record. And quite frankly, a 40.1-point differential for the underdog at halftime is something Have\_A\_Nice\_Fall must be feeling pretty good about. On the other hand, what the hell is happening to Shadowlurk96? We're talking about one of the league's most explosive offenses. And just to give you an idea, there were only three instances throughout the regular season when this offense was held below 130 points. Yes, 130 points. Those were Week 7, although they still managed to secure an away win; Week 6 against 4SquareCircles--the undefeated team that was beating the brakes off everyone; and Week 3, on a home stinker against AlfrescoDog. That last one was the worst we've ever seen Shadowlurk96, barely making 82.58 points. Well, that's pretty similar to what we're seeing now. Granted, Shadowlurk96 received zero points for RB Joe Mixon, considering their game was canceled. But here's the thing, Have\_A\_Nice\_Fall also got zeroes for the same reason--from WR Tee Higgins *and* QB Josh Allen. It's a head-scratcher. And sure, Shadowlurk96 has more than enough top-caliber players to dig themselves out of this hole, but maybe, just maybe, there's some doubt creeping into their minds. Why? Because the team that entered the postseason as a snappy Chihuahua--with a .500 record, when all the other playoff guests had more than double the Ws over - Sinatra--turned out to be the one who unequivocally showed the top seed the door out. This underdog is no Chihuahua. And they know how to bite you. But let's see what the second half brings.
