Funny that I see your comment today as I was thinking something kind of similar. I was a passive investor for 7 years. What I had worked really well, until it didn't and when it didn't it tanked hard. I pulled everything out and studied for months about what to do, how to avoid this kind of loss again, etc. Now that I understand how the markets work, I'm not sure I'd ever be able to stomach being passive again. Even though I KNOW how well passive holding works. Two sayings come to mind, ignorance is bliss and the most performative portfolios belong to dead people.

I don't totally disagree, and we do use AI services, we have been using them for ML workloads long before ChatGPT was released. I just think (actually no, I KNOW) that most people will see the Azure growth and assume 100% related to AI demand. I think some of the growth is due to AI demand, but not all of it. I also don't think that this proves (which some people are claiming) that the AI buildout is going to generate the returns needed to justify the capex spend.
