I tried one called Fantom Adventure which is a RPG with Monsters. It was alright, but it's also in Beta as far as I understand. I think it can make sense to put something like this on a blockchain because the company behind it could theoretically outsource the cost of storing player data. Since it's on Fantom Sonic Testnet it works great and confirms your transactions (fighting, hatching, training) in less than a second. And since Fantom has something called Gas Monetization which redirects some of the transaction fees (which will be low on Fantom Sonic since it can do at least >2000 Transactions per second) to the smart contract developer it makes sense for a developer to use it.

ILV is building something exciting with AAA and FUN is doing same with RPG. Asides gamefi, AI, RWA, SocialFi and other narratives are worth exploring

>I grabbed a couple ILV when they were still sub $50 in the hopes they return to like $1000 or whatever they were last bull. Probably can’t due to tokenomics but that doesn’t stop a man from buying Totally on board with the gamefi. The gamefi space is ripe for a breakout, Funtoken and Illuvium, with its immersive RPG elements, could be the catalyst. The ecosystem's potential, especially if they keep integrating AAA gaming experiences, is massive. We might see an evolution in gamefi where these types of games aren't just about earning but also offer a depth of gameplay that rivals traditional gaming. There are broader interest in RPGs and AAA games though the latter takes a lot of time to build, we could witness a new era in blockchain gaming, blending entertainment with earning potential. Funtoken's recent partnership with Astra Nova has piqued interest from many gamers also

I know of another RPG in the works on Binance chain - check out Mist, which has its $MIST token. Lost Relics is another RPG, that's been out for a while and uses nft loot, though it's on Enjin. The last one I can think of is Legend of Hanzo, which has a $HANZO token and which uses to be Hanzo-Inu - the rpg is supposed to be centered around dog characters nfts. But I was just poking around and I'm not sure it's still an active project? The studio is called Forge 21. These are games I haven't kept up with in a long time, so make sure to DYOR. Lost Relics is for sure legit, though - they've been around a long time, and it's probably the biggest game on Ejin. Good luck!

It’s crazy how posture or poor posture can seriously mess your body alignment up. My nephew’s shoulders are tilted to one side by a good inch or so. On a positive note he would wreck people in Diablo PVP when he was a middle schooler with some of his Diablo builds. I also never seen anyone type that fast in my life, like 120wpm fast. Lol As long as you are paying attention to your posture as you’re playing, you should be good. Balder’s Gate was the first D&D genre game that introduced me to RPG’s like 20 years ago. How is BG3?

I work as a BD for Ava Labs. Crypto games suck because they are (primarily) built by crypto Devs & good games have a long dev cycle. We are just now starting to see legitimate game devs enter into the industry, as well as seeing Tier1 studios go live with their games. Sending a list of games that I think deserve to be considered as "Good Games": [Shrapnel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNTVpHT-Xgk&feature=youtu.be) \- an extraction shooter (think Escape from Tarkov, but on-chain) [Off the Grid](https://www.ign.com/games/off-the-grid)\- a Battle Royale (Neil Blomkamp on as their Chief creative officer) just showcased their trailer at Gamescom [Fableborne](https://www.youtube.com/@fableborne) \- an Action RPG / Base Builder (mobile game going live in January, gotta wait /: ) [Beam Subnet](https://twitter.com/BuildOnBeam) \- a platform for lots of casual to midcore games (built by the team at [Merit Circle](https://meritcircle.io/) and will go live in Q4) be on the lookout for all of their games: \- [Trial Xtreme](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpxduVUpUq9nNFmplINCwzQ) \- [Walker World](https://walkerworld.io/) \- [Hash Rush](https://hashrush.com/) \- [Raini - The Lords of Light](https://rtlol.com/) \- [MegaWeapon (live on ETH rn but migrating over)](https://megaweapon.gg/) Lastly, SolertGames.com is building an Avalanche Subnet and deploying lots of their titles on it. The first title being [LegendAtWar](https://legendsatwar.io/) (live today on the App-Store. Off-chain currently as its still in open Alpha) Keep in mind that this is a non-exhaustive list. The takeaway here is - Game Development has long life cycles, so just be patient, good games are coming (:

>Graphics that look like a 1990 chinese knockoff sega games Look at indie games. 90% of them look like this. In fact, many like this and many dev prefer this due to their skill level. I suspect most of the games are made in RPG maker. >Why is Crypto Gaming so bad? It's like the mobile game market. It is getting better on both, but as they are a browser game. Most good developers won't touch that alone. And then adding blockchain stuff on top of that makes it a bit harder. Like most games flat out don't need blockchain. And many crypto games that use it, the game itself isn't on blockchain. The economy in the game is. Or more so, you can transfer crypto in and out of it.

Finally finished Breath of the Wild after holding off for weeks. Also finally got a somewhat good ending from "A War of a Madman's Making," which is in alpha release and made by a Redditor. It's a dialogue-based RPG where you're thrust into the unwinnable position of leading a deranged dictator's doomed invasion. It was inspired by the game "Suzerain" which is also an absolutely excellent game which I highly recommend if you like chill strategy games, and necessitates several play-throughs as you don't even realize how impactful your actions and decisions are the first time.

You're missing it. The majority of things in-game will not be on chain. The assets/skins for gamers are a great way of giving gamers a sense of ownership in the game itself. If someone chooses to walk away from the game they can sell their skins. Then on the completely opposite spectrum of blockchain, things like Chainlink's VRF can make randomizations in-game completely verifiable. For games like RPG's, that means loot drops on bosses are guaranteed to be random. No trust in the developers are needed.

Maybe they were just trying to be nice and brush you off? My family got internet in 94 and we were playing an online RPG that year. At least in the US pretty much all my friends were using instant messenger by 98. This is to say, the internet was very useful early on and crypto has been useful for speculation, trading ape pictures, and saving some folks from hyperinflation. Crypto tech isn't going to get "better" without becoming super centralized.

Yeah I'd agree and gaming is a great example. I'd love to see something like major game achievements minting NFTs - even if that was using account-bound NFTs that aren't trade-able. Then those NFTs could unlock other bonuses (maybe just cosmetics) in other games. Or character generation based on your activity in other games. It's easy to imagine characters with specific traits you've built up in one RPG saved as an NFT and then the data from that NFT being used to create an NPC character in another game. How cool would it be to run into a character you built in an old game 10 years ago? There's ways to make that work without the user even knowing they're interacting with a web3 wallet, but making it a really cool achievement system that you can build up between various games. There's definitely ways to make it work without ruining the game, or draining all the fun out of a game with play-to-earn or pay-to-win mechanics. Hopefully one day!

tldr; Now You Can Create Tunes via Bitcoin With an On-Chain Music Engine In a groundbreaking development, an on-chain music engine called the "Descent Into Darkness Music Engine" has been inscribed onto the Bitcoin blockchain. This engine allows anyone to generate a music track by entering a few keywords, not just the owner of the inscription. The music engine, created by indie developer Ratoshi, has a retro "chiptune" vibe and is intended as a companion to the Descent into Darkness text-based RPG. The innovation behind this music engine is the use of "recursive inscriptions," which allow developers to call data from already-inscribed assets on the blockchain. This significantly reduces storage limitations and costs associated with inscribing on-chain projects onto Bitcoin. The introduction of recursive inscriptions could unlock a wave of innovation within the Ordinals community, enabling the inscription of various media and apps on the Bitcoin blockchain. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. I believe that games in or out of crypto should focus more on the game itself, either through pure fun, competitiveness or a mix of all. If crypto and gains comes along the better. Bottom line we all know how the P2E craze in 2021 finished, right? Regarding innovating games it's though to really create something new. I remember how pokemon games for gameboy were completely zelda inspired. The 2D RPG game plays was really similar as the graphics. There's a crypto game on beta called Elfin Kingdom that's clearly Pokemon-inspired and I even find it cool as a reminder of old days. The mentioned DOTA was the starter coming from the warcraft 3 game engine, which turn into a great game. League of Legends is the copycat there, but it arguably has a better game now (down to personal taste). On chain there's also it's copy or inspiration: League of Ancients. Here don't even the name gets too different... Should be countless examples of this... but in the end of the day, I believe it's perfectly fine.

I guess we all have different coping mechanisms when things get rough. Some find it therapeutic to focus on positive aspects, while others see this as just another hurdle in the battle for financial freedom. Me, personally? I completely withdraw emotionally. Right now I'm playing an old RPG game. Sure my portfolio just took a serious beating, but my in-game character is doing quite well - and that's all that matters right now.

Now that Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds game was pretty hyped for a time on mobile. It had cryptocurrency and/or NFTs. I was very surprised to see a beloved Japanese RPG franchise take that route. Then when I found out that Netmarble was the actual developer and Level 5 was just going to be a publisher I knew it might not work. And of course the blockchain side of the game killed it faster than the more traditional pay-to-win cash shop features gamers already complain about. Still! Netmarble has WAY more talent than almost all these developers creating P2E games combined which is sad. Now I’ve seen some things that look appealing but they just don’t play that well. So far there’s really only 3 or 4 things that’s P2E/metaverse-ish that still sucks but you can tell someone is trying: 1) Gods Unchained 2) Decentraland 3) Blankos Block Party 4) Big Time

UPDATE POLL CLOSE 4/26/2023: Final poll results below. The correct answer is Zenon. 7% of the poll participants (N=501) got this correct. Zenon Network is the only Layer 1 that contains all of the following attributes directly into its native wallet Syrius. Evidence as follows: **Decentralized Ecosystem Funding:** Funds for building and advancing the Zenon ecosystem are embedded directly into the protocol and wallet itself through [Accelerator Z](https://click.zenon.link/tvr). Anyone can [submit a project](https://click.zenon.link/oev) through Accelerator Z which is then made transparent to the entire network. Pillars (and their respectively weighted delegations from $ZNN holders) then vote directly on each proposal as well as each phase of progress to release more funds. **Network-wide governance w/ checks and balances:** Network participants consist of [Pillars](https://click.zenon.link/oev), [Sentinels](https://click.zenon.link/oev), [Sentries](https://click.zenon.link/5u4), and $ZNN [delegators](https://click.zenon.link/na0) naturally forming a system of checks and balances through the entire network. For example, Pillars have one of the most critical roles in the governance of the entire network such as voting on A-Z proposals but all of their voting power derives from the delegators which can be changed at any time. As such, only the strongest Pillar operators surface through the network. **Native iOS/Android wallet:** Will let these [Figma designs do the talking](https://www.figma.com/file/BmmfUT2DOiLzweeMfcLCse/App?node-id=0%3A1). Every feature embedded into the Syrius desktop wallet will soon be available on mobile. Final delivery is expected in the coming weeks. **Feeless Transactions:** Because Zenon network is a dual-ledger architecture, [$QSR](https://click.zenon.link/gce) is a complementary disinflationary asset of [NoM](https://click.zenon.link/ewj) based on a mint and burn equilibrium that enables the feeless mechanism. Think of it like health in a typical RPG game. By just holding a small amount, it is used and replenished based on the required thruput of your transactions but never getting fully spent. **No-code Token Issuance:** Anyone can create a token with the [Zenon Token Standard](https://click.zenon.link/jf6) with no code and in under 1 minute directly through the Syrius wallet. **Embedded Node:** The Syrius wallet runs an [embedded node](https://click.zenon.link/dcu) directly on your device, ensuring the maximum level of decentralization for a Layer 1.

Turn based combat RPG where you can pick a handful of NFTs as buffs or summons. I'm thinking like Golden Sun or FF7. If you go this route the story will be important but brainstorm that later. It needs to be a fun game first, and then the NFTs come in after the fact to enhance the game play. Like fighting basic enemies with basic combat should be fun, and then using NFTs as a means to help in more difficult fights like bosses. For example in Golden Sun if I were able to use Isaac's best summons for every fight it would not be fun or balanced, it would just be me mashing the "A" button and getting to the end asap. This also means that the game can be played without the use of NFTs which would widen your target audience, but having NFTs would greatly enhance the gameplay incentivizing uninitiated players to get into NFTs. With that said, I think it would need a maximum amount of NFTs that you can equip/summon at any given time. If I could equip/summon all my NFTs it would break the game. A cool down mechanic might be handy here too. Restricting the player from using a lot of NFTs at once also forces the player to think creatively and critically about the strategy they go forward with. It sounds counterintuitive but less in this case is more, and how this is balanced really depends on the outcome of the game mechanics. I've been thinking a lot about this lately. Reach out to me via DM if you'd like to talk more about this.

The current NFT games that are out just don't have the same quality to what's already available. Why would I spend my time and money on an NFT RPG game when there are so many other RPGs available that have a bigger player base and are just more fun to play. Interacting with the NFTs also have to be seamless and not seem like a chore to the player. I think the first major NFT game that will be successful will be something like a Farmville or Pokemon-like game, where NFT's tech actually makes sense to use. Pokemon NFTs used for breeding and trading on an open marketplace would be huge and being able to bring those Pokemon into future games.

Most people don’t realize Counter-Strike is the original NFT game. The marketplace for skins is booming again with the CS2 announcement, which btw, as a sequel they designed to have all previous assets carried forward from your inventory. In other words, game designers just need to design a game and design a marketplace and stop focusing on the NFT/Collectible aspect as the primary focus of why people should play the game. The next game on the horizon likely to pull this off is Dr. Disrespect’s Deadrop (regardless of how you feel about him), because again, its game first. Now, if an RPG maker tried the insurmountable feat of creating say, Final Fantasy III (in which there were random, incredible hard items to get like the pink tail/adamantium armor) and put the chance in at the start, created a marketplace, etc, that would explode. But you can have the thing customers worry about being a rug pull up front, i.e., buy an NFT to play. Make your money off the MP.

100% The benefits of blockchain in gaming is not P2E and blockchain is not suitable for every game. The P2E aspect should be a byproduct of the implementation, not the goal. RPG, MMORPG, and other games that require you to grind for loot/items will benefit the most. Now you actually own those items that you've been grinding 100s of hours for. When your playing days are behind you, you will still have that item you've worked so hard for. People seem to dismiss the benefits "digital ownership" can bring our society, in a time that our physical and digital lives are becoming more intertwined.

GALA Gala games has some decent games on their platform with a pretty fun gameplay loops, but the economics of their projects always seems to fall short. And while I enjoy their games, I acknowledge that they are thus far nothing groundbreaking. Leaps and bounds ahead of web3 games from the last bull run, but still not really a blockbuster experience worth the headache of the monetization schemes. I have a glimmer of hope that one of their internally-produced games will be good enough of a videogame to attract attention, but seeing how the major NFT holders of Mirandus live in a fantasy world where users will "be willing to pay $2.00 to spawn at my cemetary if they're able to earn $10.00 a day playing the game" I see very little opportunity for the game to succeed. *My hope* is that Gala Games gives the early NFT holders (including me) the shaft and they focus more on making an MMO RPG for the masses. I don't want to make $1,000s of dollars on an in-game NFT. I want my GALA tokens to be the backbone currency of a wildly successful game. The only chance to have a blockchain game is a very-very good RPG with their own “gold coin” crypto and integrated NFT itemization. And the devs would make profit from RMT, taking converting fee of fiat to native token and native token to fiat. The problem is that building a very good MMO RPG is incredibly hard and none would allow devs to run an unlicensed conversion center within majority countries of service. Any collectable card type of game does not need blockchain at all. Card games rely on balance and specific decks. Not a single card game needs or even benefits from blockchain integration. There is no point in nft shit that is not exclusively unique. Try to imagine a system of different games with different world plots, itemization and economy, but able to transfer a character and it's stats between systems. Meaning time and experience, perhaps skins, received in one game could be transferred to the next. Thus giving you a sense of progress and accumulation no matter what you play, a shooter warfare or a sword fighting fantasy. That is the only scenario I see a blockchain game can be trully successfull. But conclusion is simple: **You need people to want to play a game without p2e. Then it would be successfull with p2e.**

They have a collection of NFTs in the current utility phase, but have stated you won’t need to own one to play when it launches. I’m obviously invested, but that’s not why I’m bullish on this game. Its because it’s beautiful, already has a decent community at prelaunch, is being built up carefully with tons of input from community, and will have an original P2E model. They’ve done a few things with their NFTs that other companies who’ve been around longer are modeling. The team is really ahead of the game in multiple ways. Anyway, check the project out.
