Look for s&p 500 or total us stock market (VANG INST 500 IDX TR) Put 60% or 70% there. Then find total international (VANG TOT INT STK IDX) put 40% or 30% there.  Both funds should be low fee/expense ratio. Less than .015% use morningstar for help researching. Congrats on having vanguard as investing choices. You may have to rebalance every few years to get back to your %'s. And add bonds as you get closer to retierment. VANG TOTAL BOND MKT

Huh, genuinely had no idea they were a public company. I do think that this group isn't quite as solid as you're suggesting. A lot of the brands they operate either aren't exactly well placed in the current dining zeitgeist (i.e. Benihana) or are trying a little too hard with mixed results (i.e. STK). That said, it feels like they're dialing this in pretty solidly. I don't know about any kind of explosive from them, but it does look like both the market cap and price are a *significant* discount to assets. That said, I do think there's some caution warranted since these restaurants will get hit *extremely* hard in a recession as they're generally priced higher than the quality justifies.

I've been moving chunks of my emergency fund between different HYSAs for the last year chasing those rate increases. Currently I follow a three fund portfolio minus the bond fund, I will allocate to bonds when I am closer to retirement. [https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Three-fund\_portfolio](https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Three-fund_portfolio) If this was my portfolio, I would select: 55% VANGUARD INST INDEX, PLUS (this is a S&P 500 fund) 15% VANGUARD EXT MARKET INDEX INST (this fund includes small and mid cap stocks not included in the S&P 500) 30% VANGUARD TTL INTL STK IDX INST (international stocks) The first two funds I selected approximate a Total U.S. market index fund: [https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Approximating\_total\_stock\_market](https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Approximating_total_stock_market) If I wanted to add bonds I would select: VNGRD TTL BND MRKT IDX INST PL As for the company stock fund, I would stay away from company stock in general. Too much uncompensated risk with single stocks (one bad CEO or one bad decision can tank a single stock, please see the Enron story). Now that said, if I was to hold company stock, I would limit it to the 5 - 10% range at most in order to mitigate some of the risk. I use Morningstar to screen for the highest rated dividend paying funds. This way my account grows and I get to live retired, since the dividends (unlike stock gains) act as a paystub to banks. USA is an example of a fund that I do this with. Has an 10% yield and participates with SPY on up days. Checkout STK as well for growth. Hope this helps! You folks are doing this mostly wrong. The odds of finding a stock you can buy for 25 cents or $1 and then watching it soar to $300 or $1,000 are practically ZERO, no matter what industry it is in. Most of the people who say they've done it are liars. ALL stocks go up and down, with some going down to $0. Forget trying to hit a home run and making $Millions on a single stock. You want to play the trends - up **and** down. What you want to do is ride the trends and make 10-20% per month. Try compounding that and see what your $1,000 (or whatever) grows into in 10-20-30 years. Part of the reason why you want to be doing it in a Roth IRA, while you still can. **Occasionally**, you'll make more than 20%. A month ago, I bought 10 OKTA 10/21 $85 Puts at $5.80. I sold them 2 days ago for $25.25 for a 435% gain - the largest gain I've had in 2-3 years. Part of that was because the bottom fell out - something I couldn't have anticipated - otherwise I was on track to make \~60%. BTW, I don't have a clue what OKTA does. All I knew was the company was losing a boatload of money heading into a major recession and the charts said SELL (or buy PUTs). So I did. Prior to that one, I bought PUTs in BYND. It had a large spike up and McDonalds just cancelled their "taste test." I knew what BYND did and if McDonalds customer don't like the stuff you're in big trouble. That's fundamental analysis. The charts told me there was no way the uptrend was going to continue so I bought some PUTs. Then the bottom fell out of BYND too. I made about 350% in two weeks. Unfortunately, I only has about 10% of my portfolio in each of those two stocks. You have to be real gambler to go much more than 10% in an individual stock. Nevertheless, no complaints. Those were my two best gains in the last 2 years. Most are down in that 10-20% range. Company fundamentals will deceive you. LEARN TO USE CHARTS, and that includes **Point and Figure** charting as it's great for predicting major trend reversals. TRUE STORY: about 25 years ago Storage Technology was a high flying IT stock. They made leading edge disc drives. The fundamentals were great: sales and profits were growing like crazy and the stock price reflected it. Then it was discovered that a big portion of their bookings were because they were literally shipping bricks instead of disc drives. Stock priced quickly collapsed and they went into Chapter 11. BTW, I just looked at Storage Tech stock (STK) and the P&F chart is screaming DOWN! [https://stockcharts.com/freecharts/pnf.php?c=stk,P](https://stockcharts.com/freecharts/pnf.php?c=stk,P) Other charts are predicting a death star. https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=STK I think I'll go buy some PUTs... BTW, stock prices go down a LOT faster than they go up. Never forget that as GOD only knows what's really going on behind all the hype. .

Rocket Lab is best known for launching rockets, but has about half their business in the space systems supply chain. Through internally-developed products and services, and from acquired companies, they touch a lot of the space industry - with their hardware carried not only on Rocket Lab rockets and spacecraft, but also launched on SpaceX, ULA and others, and flying on over 1000 spacecraft by a multitude of manufacturers for many operators. The OP asked about two types of spreads, namely a Put Credit Spread & Call Debit Spread. If the strikes and expirations are the same for EACH of the spreads then the two spreads are equivalent so it makes almost no difference whether you buy one or sell the other. For example, with made up numbers: 1) You buy the Apr 50 call and you sell the Apr 55 call for $2. Potential loss of $2 with the possibility of making $3 2) Or you could sell the Apr 55 put and buy the Apr 50 put for $3. Chance to make $3 credit with potential loss of $2. The P&L for each spread is the same. This is called synthetic equivalence. Want something more definitive than made up numbers? The basis of the Synthetic Triangle is: 1) S + P = C so: 2) 50c - 55c (the debit call spread from above) Your two equations are then: 3) STK + 50p = 50c 4) STK + 55p = 55c Substitute 3) and 4) in 2) and you get: (STK + 50p) - (STK + 55p) which results in: 50p -55p which demonstrates that the long 50/55 call spread is the same as the short 55/50 put spread. Capiche?

Help me balance my portfolio? * I am 50 years old and live in Southern California. * I am currently employed making $50k and not currently contributing to my retirement accounts. (I used to make $100k but I don't see that happening again anytime soon; if so, I'll definitely start contributing again.) * My main concern is retirement at age 65. My grandmother is 101 and still alive and my parents are both in their late 70s so I need as much as I can get. :) * As far as risk tolerance goes, my general personality is "no guts, no glory" but my retirement accounts really took an ass-beating in 2007-9 so I'm a little gun-shy. * I don't have any debt (no student loans, no car loan). My prollem with starting a CC position by using Cash Covered Puts, is that often one ends up buying the shares on a downtrend/movement, and that kills the call premiums, IV, etc. So if I'm bullish and want to use a CC strategy, I buy/write. Get the best pricing for my STKs vs cost basis. It it nice to receive cash from Puts expiring worthless though. But u have to sell ATM to get decent prices usually. Say STK is -5%, and underlying tanks -10%. Now ur down -5%, and, IMO more likely, CC prices died. So u might have to go for BE and sell -5% below cost basis - premium(for put). It would have to be 5%ROI on that premium and now ur looking a few weeks out. Quick glance at chain: STK34.5p +1.6 4.6%(Cash held for cover) Lemme go back to Buy/Write open now. *I havent looked at RIOT much. U think it's in an uptrend and going to continue. Buy it @35.06, write STK36c +$1.45 4.1%(original investment, underlying cost). So we get a lil better immediate downside protection from selling Put. *FULL DISCLOSURE: it's 4:20 here. I haven't really looked at Puts in a while, and am going to just write down what I'm thinkin in a long ass comment. 3 next possibilities: up, down, flat. Yes, variables within each movement, especially related to time frames. I use weeklys, maybe if the monthlys are comming due, 16.JUL.21 is (9)days Up: Buywrite: OrigInv -3,506. Prem +145. Assingment +94 P/L +$239 6.8% If up but say Fri it's 35.90, contract aint worth shit, and can reopen for next week, premiums might have fallen a lil, maybe held. -3,360 is current investment. CashCput: OrigInv -3,450. Return +$160 4.7% Flat: IV dies but might be able to still find 2-3%. Might still be popular and get higher, this is why I do it in weeklys. React quickly to changes. If ur personal sentiment changes, not so bullish anymore u can just sell underlying and close. Cash out on premium Puts, u got paid and get to keep premium free and clear. Pretty similar to call side, except no more exposure to underlying. If it's a reversal, stalled rally, puts could maintain prices better, i think. Down: both have similar downside protection, the put side has lower OrigInv, -32.90. CC 33.60. A put looks actually better if we straight Drop. Nature doesn't often make straight lines though. A fast drop, raises the Put's price and decimates the CC price. Especially selling into an uptrend. If the underlying price holds down to Wed or Thur, u can close out CC for 50-90%MaxP. Then reposition. Sell ATM and grab another ~+1.00. Sell ITM if u think it's gonna stay dropping. Point is, ur stuck in that Put on a down movement. That frees up your call to reposition or close. It Cost you more money, investment, to close. Durring a real bad fall, u might have to just sit and take it writing a Put. You can roll out and down, etc. But if u get stuck with a bad Put... shit. You might be moving it out for month, for .01%, if that. Early Assignment changes drastically rise. With CC it's a lot harder to lose more money than original investment. They can def drop to fucking pennies too, but even if ur selling a STK well below cost basis, your not adding capital to position. Your returning capital. You have more freedom to move around. It seems like opening with a Put gives you a better starting price, but I'd give up a lil to add to my mobility. If it's a company ur just sitting on and want a simple, cool if it drops I'll take it at that price, collect a lil cash if it doesn't, Puts work well. But if ur opening to aggressively collect premiums, and bullish... I'd just go for it Just opening move thoughts. Longest current open wheel position (93). *Not personal advice for anyone. Just my opinion. Only thing I'm certified in is anger management. As in my own, I couldn't legally run a class or something. Nor would i want to. Holy shit, my bad

A piece of advice, especially when RH is concerned, market value may be different than what u can actually close at. SPY prolly has more than enough vol so it should be close. I always made sure to go in and look at actual bid/ask. Selling spread is the diff in STK - premiums received. You put up MaxLoss for collateral. Wait till u find Iron Condors. Those are fun

I hopped in one recently without checking liquidity. I'm writing so it wasn't the worst. But hard to buy to close sometimes. Then I watched as some idiot pumped a dead contract to $0.70 by only buying 7 contracts and it sat most of the day cuz asks went up but bids never did. The next, closer to the money, STK bid/ask was lower lol.

For this it's all about returning premiums. The longer I can return premiums before a drop the better off it works. Imma use round numbers for example. $10/sh x 100 sh original inv of -$1000. I get $1.00 in premiums at open, +$100. So I now have -$900 or $9/sh. If I have a month's worth of premiums hopefully it covers any loss in underlying. After a drop, the decision becomes how low do I put my STK where I'm still returning enought premiums. Let's say I open that example and it drops to $6/sh. Id be down $3/sh. Speculation comes in as to how close I can place contract and not get assigned. So lets say I sell 6.5STK, +$0.50. Now my cost basis would be $8.50/sh. If it stays down, I knocked 0.50 off cost basis and sell again for next week. If it pops quickly, I have to try to roll out and up or pay to close out. I just have to try and avoid assignment until cost basis has been lowered to current. Trying to sell 9/STK won't be worth enough premium for me. Last Q no neg hits, . We'll see how well I can avoid it, and if the gods of the market deem me worthy. I also don't open through puts. I prefer buy/write so far.

4-6 positions at once so far. I hold long term positions on some as well, that I just leave and build. Occasionally I'll put up like half on a far OTM Call, if the price is right. I opened my WKHS position @13.39. At certain points I was selling as low as 8STK contracts. Underlying then returned and I gave back ~40% of total premium received, got it back on a 17STK last pop. So my aim is to create Down Side protection. Im often buying into an upwards move. Where's the top? Who knows. If it keeps going up, great. Go through assignment and get paid on underlying and full premium. If Im able to create enough return from premiums to cover current market value of underlying it works. Constant drops have paid out higher %'s of my max profit( full premium, expires worthless/$0.05). Plus I'll roll into a dropping price sometimes. Shit lemme get another $0.50 on a week. A favorite so far is, sell (7) on Fri ATM. Monday at open, even if underlying is flat, *not calculated, but I bet +30% of my MaxP, is my average for that move. Immediate drops still add to volatility, and prices are good. Risk comes in when you sell STKs below cost basis - total premium retuned. Will WKHS go back to pre rumors or return to hype levels? IDK. But I do know, in cold hard returns, that in (72) it has brought in 36%. I'm protected down to $8.51/sh, before I am below BE. So it comes down to, can I return enough to cover risk. My opening move needs to PAY right now, buy/write as close to 10% as I can get. See how often I can stay out of below cost assignments. The way I see it is Flexibility. Im down in the weeklys. Time value drops quick. If I roll out a week, by Wed usually, it's not like I have to go out another month or 2. I have to make calculated risks and there's always a speculative aspect. Yo my bad. Kinda went off there.

For one it's a fun way to look into and learn new companies. It's like any play, u gotta look for the right prices. Especially if people are piling on. Stock jumps from 10>15. U buy 15STK put @ $3.00. Stock falls back to 13. You're still down $1.00. Same scenario except you pay $1.00 per contract and ur up. Spreads would prolly offer similar profits, maybe less capital. Unless ur expecting a total crash. This play I assume speculation is that it popped and will settle back slightly. *the naked should have sharper price movements and the advantage I see is that quick close OP was talking about. Not my kind of play but if I were buying, and it wasn't a real event based transformative movement, I'd look at ITM and try to get some time on it.

My wheels are bringing 3.5% / week average on closed positions. U can beat $500/week easily at that capital. I skip the put side and go straight for a buy/write to open. New positions I want 6-10%, ex: buy XYZ @ $10/sh and sell 10.5STK @ ~1.00. I also account for premiums against underlying in position, until closed. $1000 position. I return +$100 premium. Underlying falls to $9.50. Ok, I'm protected down to $9.00, still up $0.50. This week Im bearish, and IV is dropping. I sell the 9.5STK for $0.50. Etc. And roll with it. I do weeklys too. Time value is right on the precipice and IV pops pay. Plus you can keep up with the underlying better, IMO. Biggest danger I seen; not being able to keep up with underlying drop. Had I been doing this on WKHS in the 40s and it halved, I would be stuck selling Calls well below my cost basis to get any kind of premiums. That being said, last 2 pops on WKHS i sold 25STKcalls ~@2.30 and closed within a day or 2 for ~75%. I get higher per week % when a new position closes fast, within a week. My assignments in that first week are ~8-15% ROI. The other danger is missing underlying growth. You have to roll with it and make speculative decisions. AMC, I had already reached 40% returned, when it popped I closed at 17STK. WKHS again, I was selling 8STK calls at one point and when it popped I gave back a good bit of my premium to close the contract and let it ride up a bit, then I put ~17STK and got it all back. Jus a rambling of my experience so far. I've been picking my underlings by first going through contract prices. Go through all the stocks in my price range that have weekly contracts, and find that 6-10% opening. Then I look into recent movements, events, etc. GL

I've been running a wheel strat for almost a quarter now. Here's what I've noticed: Opening- buy/write I use short time frames, weeklies, except usually for my Core positions, one's I'd rather hold. I like to get as much downside protection as possible at open. ATM. My goal is 3%/week, and I'm averaging 3.3% in closed positions so far. I account for my premium in position until closed. There are times when some has to be given back durring quick upswings in underlying. For much of last quarter many positions went negative as underlyings fell. I was able to keep up with price drops fairly effectively, but had to sell calls lower than my cost basis and risk assignment to get decent premiums. My goal is stack premiums against loss of value in underlying, and keep as much as possible durring rebounds. At a ~10% premium on a just OTM call to open on a weekly, I'll see +13% upon assignment, in a week. Yay to that. Even if every once in a while they blow past it. Current open positions: WKHS SKLZ MVIS Planning to open 2-3 more on Monday Last week closed: FCEL, NKLA, BB, AMC Average position time: 2-3months Note on risk against underlying "mooning" AMC I sold at 17STK while it's price 5Xed. I got over 100% on position so not mad. I had returned ~40% in premium alone before assignment. When that rise began I think I was at a 13STK and able to roll up to 17 before it wasn't worth it anymore to me. WKHS I had to pay back a bunch of my premium to close out durring last rip, got it all back next contract at better STK. Best protection against that is to create an independent position, I call my Core. You can do this by using a percentage of your premium to build position over time. High IV I occasionally sell against part of my Core holdings. Last month alone WKHS popped quickly twice and I was able to sell far OTM Calls against half of my Core position for roughly 5% ROI for entire Core position each time. It has to be worth it to me to risk some of my Core and at a STK I am comfortable selling it at. Speculation comes into play, but I'm enjoying this strat as I collect real cash for my positions. Short time frames gives me a lot of flexibility. Compound those percentages over the year and it really does add up. These positions alone returned ~+10% my entire account this quarter, with another 10% still accounted for in open positions.
