Thanks for the feedback. What do you think happened? I sent tiny amounts as test checks (green) and then in the second test check, it “broke” the change into two (CCC and DDD). I wasnt familiar with UTXO then so when I saw in my cold wallet the DDD transaction, I thought I was compromised and sent out the CCC transaction to the exchange.

I must admit you got me thinking, so I decided to try it out myself. As I recall, the hash is SHA256 applied *twice* to the *block header*. https://mempool.space/ has a useful API which, among other things lets you download the header for a given block. The raw hex of the block header can be seen here: https://mempool.space/api/block/0000000000000000000294d145675c8eae739b7b3c53dd0d8ff330810ce9fae6/header ...which returns: 00009932a408f21091baa68bd6c5d5bd259e854ee719c5d9d34c0400000000000000000086f2fbcf8937bc8890cd4daece6e1a02852d6447cec2b37e1281df62e34c45ecfdb94a6594810417566c0bae ...so that's our starting point. It's just a hex string though, so we need to convert it back to binary. Anyone with a bit of coding knowledge can do that pretty easily, but I just used an online tool which takes a hex string and saves it as a binary file directly (https://tomeko.net/online_tools/hex_to_file.php?lang=en). I then used the Windows PowerShell "Get-FileHash" command to find the SHA256 hash of *that* file. That returns: 3B907CB2BAA4E8F3903CD3C4E68BC5D4EF7141CFCB792E9EC5280AE64A3A447A ...so that should be SHA256 applied *once*. I then repeated the process - convert the new hex string to binary and get the hash of that. The hash of the new file came back as: E6FAE90C8130F38F0DDD533C7B9B73AE8E5C6745D19402000000000000000000 At first I thought I must have screwed up, but actually it's the original target hash with the byte order reversed (Windows v Linux standards maybe?).

Yes I did since 2018... In the first place I have to do withdraw of EUR/GBP from Binance or Coinbase to my Revolut Bank account and use it like that. Now on I also got CryptoCom and Wirex card. There is more and more places in this world that starts to accept direct crypto payments especially in countries that it is a huge pain in the ass to have your own bank account like in Central and South America for example, its just a slowly process. I guess that 1-2% of the world actually knows and use crypto so there is still a long way to go :DDD

Agreed... Few technical details for the reader. The "Kraken Hack" took 2 minutes to crack a 4 digit PIN. They do concede that it could be done faster on a GPU, but if you ask why it took so long, it has to do with the HMAC iterations (see [PIN_ITER_COUNT](https://github.com/trezor/trezor-firmware/blob/core/v2.4.3/storage/storage.c#L87))^(*). Trezor uses a 10,000 round HMAC for the storage encryption. So when you are evaluating "how strong" a PIN is, it's not a matter of performing 10,000 iterations for a 4 digit PIN (0000-9999), but rather 10,000 * PIN_ITER_COUNT which really 100,000,000 iterations for a 4 digit PIN. So from Kraken's empirical data, they were performing one guess per 12 ms (120 sec / 10,000 guesses). This is actually an optimistic assumption since they only did part of the key field. So extrapolating that out you'll find that password guessing on a 10,000 round HMAC is slower than most imagine * 4 digit ~ 120 sec * 6 digit ~ 3.3 hrs * 9 digit ~ 4.5 months * 12 digit ~ 380 years So even if a GPU farm could give a 100x or 1000x increase in speed, your still looking at months of protection on a 12 digit PIN. 12 digits is NOT hard to remember. Things we regularly access with 12 digits include IPv4 and some international phone numbers. Like IPv4, it's easiest to memorize a set of 4 three digit numbers (AAA, BBB, CCC, DDD) I like passphrase, and yes, they are a great feature, but as u/exab mentions, that is an augmentation. The "fix" for all the STM32 glitch-hacks was to encrypt storage with the PIN. Perhaps a "better" fix would be to increase `PIN_ITER_COUNT`^(*) from 10,000 to 100,000 but that would make the initial device unlock perceptively slow (like 20 seconds). But regardless, I think 12 digit PINs are short enough to memorize and long enough to provide plenty of time to move your funds if a wallet is lost to a thief. ^(* technically PIN_ITER_COUNT is 20,000, but only 10,000 is used in the loop)

Its a handfull to unload here better to whatch a youtube tutorial if you have never done DeFi, but basically setup metamask, buy some avax on binance, withdraw through c-chain to metamask, and deposit into beefy on the same network. Be sure to doublecheck corrwct websites to not lose your funds though :DDD
