Well new FIFA games literally can't be called FIFA anymore, but instead EA Sports FC, cause FIFA wanted too much money from EA for just using their name. Instead of $150mln they get for every previous game they wanted $300mln per game, so EA said no. Now FIFA get shit, but don't worry Qatar already paid this corrupted organization enough for organization of WC.

Good call - I edited post to reflect that. Reddit Cup one’s may not have been officially affiliated. Idk how they would’ve have gotten away with Reddit Cup without a suit against them from FIFA though unless there was some agreement made. These ones absolutely feature Super Bowl prominently in the adverts, definitely paying for trademark use. Maybe representing a strategically bigger investment for these by Reddit after seeing success from recent drops/gens?

I got into crypto as me and my team were the people who exploited EA sports FIFA for coins, (long story but ill make it short) and Chinese sellers used to buy so much that their banks wouldnt send enough to us, so they started paying us in BTC weekly. I remember one time we had something like 132 BTC they paid us at $300 each and it went up to 2.1k and my business partner sold it all and we thought we were geniuses at the time! Luckily we kept a LOT, we actually spent around 25 BTC in some food place in London when we went to watch a boxing match in 2014... I dare to think how much BTC we actually sold / spent back in 2013/14 before understanding it properly!

Foundation & INC screwed retail investors over with the FIFA advertising hype . They used it for months to offload to us . Once World up started and the day after Staci came out that they changed their minds and wouldn’t do the advertising during world cup , that was a stab in the back of retail investors . Most lost trust in them and won’t believe any new promise . Yes they are fast but because they centralised on a bunch of super computers at universities who all got billions of ALGO (early backers ) It was a pain to hold it in the bull market seeing every shitcoin pumping more due to their selling . I got out at 2.40$ but went to early back in at 0.45 and. 0.29 , 0.26 . 0.18 and 0.16 . = also a pain in a bear market . Now it goes up less then BTC and drops x3 when BTC has a negative day . Its really the moment they come out with good news . They should not wait that long anymore . If during this bull run first half of 2023 they do not surprise the market with big deals . Then probably nobody is interested in their fast TPS and it will struggle to survive the next bear market . Could be that layer 2 on ETH will be getting all the fortune500 deals . Let’s wait 5 more months . 🙏 for some big deals they did not had to pay with giving ALGO for free .

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

FIFA cold approached Algorand on the nft deal. And your other downsides to Algo is price action? The real complaints is currently permissioned relay nodes, participation nodes and validators have never been an issue with being decentralized. The relay nodes will be a focus this year including moving to permissionless and incentivizing. After that, many of the technical complaints will be moot. Algorand has introduced state proofs which use cryptography to validate the state of two chains to allow for swaps without a centralized bridge. Imagine ethereum dapps being settled on Algorand or swaps between USDC as an ERC-20 or as an ASA. There’s also contract calls which allow for smart contracts to talk to other smart contracts to execute one transaction. This means DEX aggregators can do combo swaps to execute the best trade and most times you end up with a positive gain in the swap. It’s consensus mechanism is different, and is truly better. There won’t be an Algo hard fork ever, block producers and validators are randomly selected and there’s immediate consensus. ~3s block time with zero downtime. No centralized list of validators to attack, no predictable round robin block production. Dev tools are improving and are a core focus for Algorand Inc. for the year. There is a clear plan for the chain, and it’s always lead towards full decentralization after being foundation / inc. bootstrapped at the start of the chains life. Re: foundation selling, In an interview yesterday the foundation CEO described how when the foundation sells its mechanical and with built in stops to avoid affecting price. They limit sells to 1% of total liquidity at any point, and currently they’re not selling. All that to say, that’s just scratching the surface and once you drink the 3s block production koolaid it’s hard to go back

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Cardano approach is “for the people” , every retail investor can stake because it’s very easy, don’t have to do anything and you can un stake whenever you want without losing staking rewards after each 5 days. I own also Algorand and am very frustrated with that chain where it’s clear their staking is made so complicated, only 10 days per 3 months to get in, can’t make one mistake of forgetting to vote when they even play with moving the voting date around, can’t have access to your coins for 3 months , that it’s clear they made that system so only themselves can stake and getting the high rewards but you bear the inflation of it . On top with that FIFA lie they screwed us up big time. It’s a pain to hold it. Even that ADA also dropped a lot last year the joy you get from staking & community softens the pain. Because you know the only inflation you bear , you also get the same equal part as the insiders. Can’t be said with many other chains.

>1. ALGORAND For instance, the situation with Algorand's CEO, Staci Warden, posting "Nike" on her Twitter account and later stating that it was just a marketing strategy, is a clear example of how easy it is to manipulate the market and create false hype. This is not only misleading to investors, but it also harms the reputation of the project, and the CEO herself. She's been doing this shit nonstop. I hate how everyone defends how she handled FIFA. They cancelled advertisements at FIFA months in advance, but didn't tell a soul til ONE DAY before. These artificial pumps are manipulative and an embarrassment.

Mentions:#FIFA#ONE#DAY

Because she's an awful, mainpulative CEO, that's why she did it. She did the same thing with FIFA and advertising. And when the excuse was "we don't want to spend the money, so months ago we cancelled the advertisements. But we're telling you the day before." (paraphrased) everyone lined right up. Good projects don't need to announce this stuff. The CEO of Algorand is a massive issue algorand needs to deal with. She has repeatedly manipulated the market. Okay spoke of this before, my first impression of ALGO and the wallet was fast and was impressed by the speed and cost was significantly cheaper. This was the carrot whilst fees for Ether were almost extortion before the fork. Dipping into projects which are developed on there, my first was yeildly which looked and felt like an old Atari but was just a casino. Couldn’t take stake out some days didn’t work on others. It was desperate and eventually rugged. Having been using Tinyman to flip back yields this was hacked this functioned for up until. The FIFA/ALGO partnership or not(touted on all ALGO platforms as the big one until it was t at all) was such a desperate shame. Great concept great collectors NFTs but there again functionality and interface was cats piss in comparison to Ethers set up. Overminted couldn’t purchase with ALGO because if I don’t know. I purchased with fiat having a bag of ALGO was the last straw, and the mints kept coming. I think Silvio Macali has been able to creat something lightning fast but no doubt but user experience in the eco system and projects within that do not measure up against Ehters. That is just my experience who ever is putting together some of projects needs to run up the road.

FIFA is a long term technical partnership. It’s a new partnership and the CEO of Algorand Inc. Sean Ford has noted that they had limited time to develop products for the most recent World Cup. People are being way too dismissive because it didn’t blow up and moon out immediately. It will continue to build and develop.

* What's shady about the tokenomics? Haven't they been spelled out pretty clearly since the beginning? Tokenomics you don't like =/= shady tokenomics. * The FIFA **partnership** was a technical one, not an advertising/marketing **sponsorship**. Two very different things. * I'm not sure what Tether backdoor business you're referring to, can you provide a source? * Not even sure how to address the last point but ok. I'm not trying to be abrasive or be an 'Algo shill', but vague comments aren't much of an argument against it.

Crypto moon boys as often misunderstood the nature of such partnerships, and thought that one partnership will make them rich, lmao. What do you want them to do? Not announce it? yikes... The partnership is doing fine btw, the product is there, and FIFA is basically playing around with the blockchain and NFT potential. The NFT's platform might look fine for crypto standards, but it was pretty clear how unlikely it was FIFA to advertise such unfinished product. As for partnership and advertisement, that was optional. Understandable that they didn't want to spend millions on advertisements during current crypto sentiment. The reputation of crypto is terrible atm, thank the idiots who invested into all the failed scams, and made things like FTX big. Wouldn't be money well spent imho.

Me too! I'm waiting a week to top off my bag with more ALGO and then committing. Honestly, Algorand is in a great position. AlgoKit is releasing soon which is a streamlined development environment. Huge upgrades to 6k TPS, 3.5s block times, smart contract to smart contract calls, box storage, state proofs, post-quantum resistance via FALCON keys. 2023 is going to be an even better year than 2022 in my opinion. There was a lot of restructuring at the Foundation this year, but now people are in place and ready to execute. The bank of Italy is using Algorand for insurance/bank gaurantees. 100M NFT's are going to be minted for public health records in India. FIFA NFT market place is pretty awesome. Agrotoken in South America which allows farmers to buy and sell their grains/produce via blockchain. Nigeria is building out their infrastructure on Algorand. Seriously, the idea that any developer is going to champion this is truly one of the most naive ideas I've ever heard. There is literally no incentive whatsoever to do this.

Start with EA - FIFA games are notorious at these

While I don’t love fifa, it was mostly the deal itself. Ambiguous the whole way, and then shelved as a tech deal that’s still vague. FIFA connect hasn’t been marketed widely and was repeated similarly on other blockchains. Maybe Algo foundation didn’t pump the deals significance as much as the rest of the community, but it’s been disappointing. Only cool part I’ve seen come of it has been Gotham FC’s Algo jerseys, which are sleek.

That example makes no sense. The players who flock to EA do so for FIFA, Battlefield, Madden, NFS, etc. The players buying Ubisoft titles are an entirely different audience (strategy with the Anno series, action adventure with AC, etc.). There's also practically no overlap of games between those 2 publishers for which assets of one could be reused in games from the other.

Because Gamers TM are not stupid, game companies spent 20 years killing off the 2nd hand markets by going digital, they are never going back. Nor will they ever allow you to move skins between Call of Duty games, thats the entire point of releasing at new CoD or FIFA, to sell stuff to you again. Its all a ridiculous pipe dream. Unless you expect governments all over the world to band together on the very important issue of Gaming NFTs and force companies to support them?

They already do. For most AAA GAMES, Items and unlocks are a series of entitlements on the back end of your account. These entitlements all have their own identification codes and are 1 of a kind as they generate account specific Metadata once attached. Hell, FIFA even has a market you can trade these things in. So does CSGO. This already exists. What got squashed was front facing adds that SAY NFT. Nothing has changed.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

GameStop NFT is still beta no? There isn’t much utility outside of some games early in development. FIFA would see recurring profits from resold items. 10% on each sale, forever. Dev expenses would be saved from not having to reproduce the same content every year. Special items with limited releases would sell for wayyyyy beyond what a typical pack sells for. They would still release skins and stuff (idk what FIfA sells, I’ve never played it). I’m making some major assumptions here but I don’t see the game industry going any other way once one game developer starts allowing re-sellable digital content. How do they build an infrastructure that allows for resealable content? Well shoot, maybe NFTs. GameStop or not, ready player one is the future.

Ok so imagine someone pays for a new FIFA or NBA or Call of Duty game every year… and then pays for tons of in-game purchases every year to have cool stuff to use in the game… After a while the next iteration of those games comes out and the player gets the new game and plays that, effectively LOSING all the previous stuff they bought in previous games (making a ton of money for the publisher, EA, for example, who laugh all the way to the bank) because there’s no way to take the stuff they bought to the new game that comes out. Well, NFTs would fix that in an instant. Allowing you to keep your stuff in all later games. It benefits the player greatly. But publishers wont do this since they will make slightly less money. That’s just one of literally hundreds of usecases I can think of at the top of my head.

Games like FIFA have digital assets (Player cards), which sell for digital currency you get playing the game (can be bought / sold online as well). NFT's would be great for that - EA are notorious for making money.

New FIFA game releases every year, also generate about 1 billion revenue every year. Now if they, implement the function to transfer items from previous FIFA to the newer FIFA. What would happens to the yearly 1 Billion revenue? Gone. So no one in their right mind is going to do it. >Once a game comes out that’s decent and you’re rewarded (earned content) or can resell content, it’s game over for any games that don’t do the same. CS:GO, TF2, Roblox, any mmo rpgs, even genshin impact can sell their accounts. All of these already exist, doesn't make FIFA adopt the same system though. So your argument on company FOMOing is eh. 😑 >Why would Fidelity invest a bunch of money in a NFT marketplace of their own? Gamestop NFT is pretty dead. So Fidelity NFT marketplace wouldn't make much difference.

You are not early when: 1. Matt Demon shills it to you. 2. Multiple arenas are (were) named after crypto exchanges. 3. Crypto is constantly shilled on F1, UFC, Superbowl, and even FIFA! Do people even realize how many people have seen these ads? There was a claim saying more than half of the entire world population had seen bits and pieces of 2018 worldcup. 4. The collapse of a crypto exchange has become a mainstream news. 5. A single crypto company made over 40 million in political donation. 6. US houses had multiple hearings and discussions on crypto related stuff. 7. The sitting president of US had executive order involving crypto. 8. Previous president of US (and possibly 2024 presidential candidate) had NFTs. Like him or not he is potentially the most talked about president in modern history. 9. NFTs were shilled on talk shows. Many A grade celebrities shilled some crypto project. But crypto bros ignore all this. Reality is a good chunk of people, small and big businesses have been exposed to crypto and cryptobros and said "fuck that shit". Yet people here just parrot shit that they read. No critical thinking whatsoever. They probably will use "but I cant buy crypto from Amex" as an excuse of "still early".

It has damaged reputations. Stocks have dropped. Here in Germany we also had a few sponsors who cut ties to DFB for not pulling out and sponsors also openly not supporting FIFA. Our public television channels are airing anti-DFB and anti-FIFA content since before the first tournament started. Our commentators wore the rainbow flag in television after it was forbidden. Our interior minister went to one game only to wear the armband in protest and was public about this and made it clear that is her prime reason to attend. Many sports bars around here are not showing any game this year. There’s a lot you can do/could have done. The sponsors that go ahead can go please themselves. The people that are absolutely ignorant about the circumstances too. And again, to come back to crypto, that whatever blockchain keeps on supporting this is a sign of being a sellout. Being displayed in public does not justify this.

People that did no understand the FIFA deal may be disappointed, but they just didn't understand what "technical partership" means. In addition, the foundation is not "dumping on holders." A more realistic explanation might be that whales, such as "mouch" are having to liquidate some holdings to cover losses. The whole market is getting hammered due to exchange/liquidity issues, and this isn't unique to ALGO.

> If the foundation’s governance polls don’t go the way they want it too, they put the same thing up with minor changes until it passes. Case in point, their forced movement into funding DeFi. They had that shit voted down like twice, and it finally passed on the third ask. And now, this round, there are like 2 more asks for additional funding for it. I’m certain they’d just put it back up next period if those were to fail. DeFi will never be long term successful if a company has to subsidize it. People move away as quickly and easily as they came once the funds run dry. Same shit with states that offer tax breaks to businesses who just skip town once the tax breaks end. You can’t bribe your way to true success. It has to be organic, because otherwise it is just a matter of time until the weak foundation crumbles. But the “expert” governors want money for fucking monkey pictures or whatever, so my ALGO investment seems secure 🙄 Of all the shit, this is what’s prioritized. With a central leadership living off premined funds. They just get in bed with some of the most corrupt orgs, like FIFA, in the world too boot. I hold a lot of ALGO, but agree that the foundations actions have been concerning. I will be watching closely over the coming months to see if: A. They rein in spending to more sustainable levels. B. Any more major partnerships are announced, as they claim that 50 large organisations on the same size as FIFA are building on ALGO. I also have a suspicion that ALGO really is focused on being used by large corps, banks and governments, as infrastructure, hence why they seem oblivious to retail sentiment. I hope it survives, as the tech seems far superior to many competitors, and the ease of use is fantastic. Using other chains for defi feels far more of a headache, and it could be massively successful if the foundation did things differently. Time will tell but I’m holding.

When Satoshi disappeared no one complained >ALGO has just 120 active validators which ALGO foundation chooses. Ethereum at 411,000. This is not great for decentralization. Can you link docs where it says algo chooses validators? Don't remember seeing that. Afaik anyone can be a validator >Currently Algorand TPS is at 7.75. See Algoexplorer for this number. That's because of low usage not low capacity >ALGO "solved" scaling by doing a big no-no. It increased block sizes to solve scalability just as Bitcoin Cash did. From 1mb to 5mb. Tada! Bitcoin Cash block size is 32 mb no? Quite a difference. Also Algorand is on PPOS not on pow, afaik that's the scaling premise >Most of the transactions being done on Algorand are generated by a selected few "partners" (i.e. sponsored) projects such as planetwatch, chess.
