Yeah I dunno about this. "Still around" in the sense they didn't go way the way of BitConnect, but there are so many 2017 projects that are essentially dead and treading water and are only purchased by bag holders or people who left and came back years later. When was the last time you heard someone talk about Verge? or DASH, NEM, PPT, OMG, NEO, LSK, STRAT, MONA, KMD, SALT, EMC2, ETN.. etc etc those were all top 500 coins at the peak of the bull in december 2017

OP MONA coin is a cat. It is #5 and it is a very OG meme coin. I remember trading it on 300% moves on Bittrex in 17. But otherwise yea dogs have won the meme war.

What are you talking about? Of course you can make an identical copy of any trading card. People even make exact copies of famous paintings and sell them for millions. The exclusivity is what gives the NFTs their value. You can't just go take a picture of the Mona Lisa and say "LOL LOOK I OWN THE MONA LISA HURRR DURRRRRR" That's the exact equivalent of dipshits who say "right click save".

Bad news - Meme coins, especially those related to the cult of Elon, will always be around. Just the way of the gambler - Before SHIBA there was MONA, before MONA there was DOGE, just the way it is.
I picked up a tiny bag of MONA the other day, entirely out of curiosity, when it was down. It’s now up a healthy amount. Might be worth considering.
Besides BTC and ETH only a few under-the-radar NFT projects which are more long term plays for me: DOKI, MONA (Digitalax) and LYXE.

It's funny this is downvoted, because it's actually correct. DOGE is simply a litecoin fork. Back in [2014 it was routinely a top 5 coin](https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20140216/) The people who've just joined recently probably only attribute it to Elon or insufferably moonboys, but DOGE was only ever a meme fork, like [MONA](https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/monacoin) - Which is another Litecoin fork that features a Japanese cat as a meme instead of a Shiba Inu. Kind of sad how that kind of history gets lost with culture wars.

With that, I hope to cash in. My go to CC today is Mona Coin\[MONA\]. It is awesome. It is awesome because is it delusional. There isn't much to it. And that is a great thing. Monacoin is simple. Let's not pretend there is a science to this, Mona Coin is literally a symbol of a smiling cat. And that is it. It does not have a philosophy like Ethereum which was created by a [visionary](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitalik_Buterin). It is not cool like Bitcoin. LSK and MONA Both have a good history vs BTC and even if they don't get close to their ATHs there's still good multiplication potential

yea, but you know where the original is. This follows the same concept, you know that the original piece of digital art was owned by XYZ. You cant make a copy or fake it, because it is linked by an NFT. Thus, the value of that makes it limited, like AN ORIGINAL MONA LISA.

But to prove the point, coins that hit their ATH in 2017/18 (that I may or may not have bought back then \*cough\*): * VTC (still -92.8% from ATH) * FUN (still -77.7% from ATH) * MONA (still -82.3% from ATH) * BCH (still -74.1% from ATH) * XRP (still -52.4% from ATH) This isn't to say that these are bad projects, but all of these where hyped in some form or another back then and \*still\* haven't rallied back to their previous heights. It can be rough.
Aside from BTC, it looks like the usual suspects. ETH, BCH, XEM. Monacoin (MONA) is also popular just because it has Japanese origins.
That's essentially where I'm at with my research as well. At this point I'm trying to also understand which businesses in Japan (if any) accept MONA, too. I think MONA could definitely have DOGE potential in a way.
This is just my opinion but I think MONA has huge potential especially in the coming future. Right now I am really not that familiar with it but I find this topic interesting.
