Yeah I dunno about this. "Still around" in the sense they didn't go way the way of BitConnect, but there are so many 2017 projects that are essentially dead and treading water and are only purchased by bag holders or people who left and came back years later. When was the last time you heard someone talk about Verge? or DASH, NEM, PPT, OMG, NEO, LSK, STRAT, MONA, KMD, SALT, EMC2, ETN.. etc etc those were all top 500 coins at the peak of the bull in december 2017
Komodo Wallet (ex AtomixDex) is still running very well, powered by the old Komodo token (KMD)...also in this dex you can find the old Vertcoin (VTC) and Viacoin (VIA)...
I've only used AtomicDex (powered by KMD token) and I don't know if it's the best (but it's certainly one of the oldest dexes around)...

KMD... and no need to fork, it is already made for exactly this use case... to launch your own coin on an independent chain. It also offers 51% attack protection through notarization service. 51% is an issue for new chains with low hashrate.
depends on the blockchain... ERC20 is expensive, yes, but there are a lot of other chains that are not... PLG20, AVX20 and many others... and there are the UTXO coins, like LTC, DGB, RVN, KMD and so on, those are not expensive either... so just choose wisely
It all depends how the max supply will be reached. If it's through mining and the annual inflation is not that high, it's totally fine. You can of course calculate how high the inflation is, because block time and block reward are known (including halving). But if it's a token (ERC20, BEP20, PLG20 and so on), a high max supply is a big red flag, because the deployer of the contract (the dude that has the private key) can mint an arbitrary amount of those at any time. This already happened couple of times... last time i remember and last time i lost money because of it was with GALA-BEP20, because they leaked the private key on github and a "hacker" minted a ton of those, so GALA-BEP20 is now completely worthless. I would say "stay away from all EVM tokens that have the mint function active", but unfortunately they all have it active, so you would have to stay away from all those tokens to be safe. You could do that, but then you are limited to a hand full of real coins like BTC, LTC, DGB, RVN, KMD and so on.
The bigger PoW coins, that can't be minted in arbitrary amounts out of thin air, like all the tokens on ERC20/BEP20/PLG20. So take a look at LTC, DGB, RVN, FIRO, KMD, ARRR.

I guess the only "solution" to this problem is to completely stay away from any tokens that can be minted... and i fear this applies to almost all tokens that exist... so back to real coins on real blockchains that can't be minted like this... The most important thing is to get full decentralized, so no more CEXs. This eliminates a vast majority of scams. Another thing would be to not buy any tokens that can be minted in arbitrary amounts. Only valid for tokens. Real coins, LTC, DGB, RVN, KMD and so on don't have this problem, the withdraw fees are almost 0. I would anyway drastically reduce the number of tokens in my portfolio. Those can be minted in arbitrary amounts at any time by the creator of the contract = unlimited supply.
For me it was Komodo (KMD) Fortunately I didn't go *too* heavy into the project. There's a small amount sitting in one of my wallets to remind me of the coin. As far as I can remember it was gearing up to be a smart contract platform with privacy options. I can't even recall what the selling point to me was, besides very low transaction fees. It even pitched AtomicDEX so decentralized trading but there was enough incentive for me to see it through. Right now I'm collecting 5% from staking, excuse me 5.1%. Neo has continued to evolve with N3 was just released and has a promising outlook of dapps being released this year along with arguably best in class developer tools and language support. N2 was too difficult to develop upon. I agree that most L1s will die as is natural in any startup world but there will always be room for a dozen viable solutions to be successful in parallel. Tron was always marketing hype over substance, never heard of KMD, LISK, QTUM, ICON and many others never really beared fruit
I have been around long enough to know that most projects done live more than a cycle or two. The ETH killers of 2017/2018 are dead. Ethereum now has 4 more years of development poured into it by a dev pool that is over 10x the size of any other project. How many of the ETH killers of this cycle will go the way of NEO, TRON, KMD and the like? My guess is: nearly all of them. Not talking trash here, just making observations.
When I got into crypto I was reading 3 to 5 wp a day. KMD Komodo was one of the hardest reads to date. That being said back then there was only like 1500 projects. My favs are still around. The point is to read and research. Gaming meta defi .. Don't chase shitcoins unless your dropping for a lotto ticket. Which isn't a bad idea for the portfolio.. Good luck.

KMD second pump of the week coming
Well.. I do my own research and generally trade a lot and never sell at a loss - therefore every disappointing coin from this sub is still in my portfolio: BAT ALGO ZIL VET TRX TVK KMD DGB I usually invested 100€ in each coin. And each coin is now at around -20-50% Surprisingly the only 3 performing coins I got from this sub are Doge, Shib and LRC. Of course the majority of This sub was against Shib and Doge but some people suggested to throw in a few € because ‘what If?’ And so I did and these people were right.

Yeah it doesn't involve KMD at all I don't think. I think the only use case for kmd is some sort of governance. O could be wrong though. It's built Komodo though. Komodo is like a tool for building other blockchains. PirateChain, tokel, and a few others are built with it, but not dependant on its delegated proof of work. I only have a cursory understanding though. I know DogeDEX, ErgoDEC, MarmaraDEX are all forks of atomic dex too.

Right now it's traded on Crex24, Stex, safeTrade, Gravix and a few DEX platforms such as BTCZdex, KMD dex, and atomic Dex. There is all some staking on Vidulum wallet.. the dex's and vidulum also are based on you own your private keys so unlike the CEX exchanges not your wallet not your crypto so your funds are always recoverable.
The people that tested Uniswap were airdropped 400UNI. I expect this will be the same with every Swap protocol on all L1’s. KOmodo Chain gave a bunch of KMD to everyone that participated in testing AtomicDEX. There’s a DEX token on AtomicDEX and I wouldn’t be surprised if they airdropped those to testnet users. The most important testnet is Moons. No other token or coin has over 3M testnet users. WAGMI when we mainnet!

Its not exactly the same, but technically there is no difference since 51% of the hashrate can steer the code the way it needs. Just like board of directors can steer the company. Or look at KMD for instance - their protocol choosing notary nodes by voting. Thats even closer to your definition.

I'm backing these coins at the moment. Looks like they have powerful potential for reversal or acceleration. ICP, BNB, XRP, KMD, STORJ, and JST. BNB won't be a triple digit return but over 508 a nice acceleration likely. The last one was a nice 30% in a day or two.

Kind of. I do hope that all legit projects such as Nano and KMD have a huge place in commerce in the future. However that will rely on price maturity and adoption. When established projects do what Nano offers + being able to handle a 450,000,000 dollar transaction without causing insane price fluctuations that BTC/ETH/ and fiat will not and currently mostly do not, I argue then it will face a massive uphill challenge. Likely falling into obscurity.

Going to mention a few I haven't seen mentioned yet. Genesis Vision Token - It was supposed to be a platform where you could pay traders in GVT, which they would sell off to have capital to trade crypto, forex,etc, with clear transparency on the eth blockchain and you would receive the returns back as GVT at the end of the trading period. Turns out everyone sucks at trading lol and pretty much all their traders were negative right away. Komodo - KMD was another DAPP platform coin that was POW. They were working on atomic swaps so they could have a cross blockchain DEX. They floated around the top 100 until this bullrun.
Why $1000 into KMD? Was it one of the top coins at the time?
Life can be funny at times, LINK with the least investment is the life saver. Assuming you've replaced probably KMD and SMT with Binance (BNB) and Utrust (UTK) respectively, you should have more profits by now although portfolio still looks good.
KMD - now there is a coin I have not seen anybody talk about in a long time. I had a bunch of it. I made good money with BTCD back in 2014 so I decided to buy KMD when it ICOed since it was the same dev team as BTCD. I held that coin for such a long time. Finally sold it last summer. I staked it so I was actually able to exit at a small profit. I was really happy to sell at $1. Still kick myself a bit for not selling when it hit \~$10 in early 2018.
Yep, the percentages were based on perceived risk after researching the projects. KMD looked like a very solid project, while Link was an unknown with a possibly interesting use case. Of course, that use case turned out to be much more important than I anticipated 😂

Nice on you for hitting LINK at 0.20¢. This is a great example of why people throw a few hundred at the lower cap coins - you can hit, but here it’s a 20% success rate. I remember being bullish on both KMD and LRC back in the day too.

Had XMR and KMD disappear from Atomic Wallet along with multiple issues with other networks. Customer support is horrible and the Telegram is nothing but scam attempts repeating the same useless support in emails. Exodus is the lesser of two evils.
