> I am looking for some counter arguments or theory to enlighten me. excellent > But since it does not have a value itself such as gold other than the value the people give it, i suspect it will be too volatile Here is your mistake. What you describe ("value itself") is sometimes called a concept of "intrinsic value". The problem is that nothing has intrinsic value. You claim that gold, unlike Bitcoin, has intrinsic value. This is wrong. The "theory" you are looking for is called "economics", which describes how people behave in the world with scarcity. One of the very first and basic lessons of economics is that the value is a subjective concept - i.e. every person values different things differently and even a single person values same things differently within different time frames and contexts. If you want a book, try MES (https://mises.org/library/man-economy-and-state-power-and-market), it is fairly readable, but very long. Or, if you want a hard core stuff, you can try Human Action (https://mises.org/library/human-action), not so readable, very long as well. If you do not feel like reading these monsters, you can try much shorter and very readable POE (https://saifedean.com/poe).

Doesn't have to be a crypto dream. It has to be something which is tied to blockchain without forcing people to invest money in a game outside the price for the game itself. Think about a Diablo style or POE style game with currency obtainable in game, cosmetics and unique items as nft. You own them, you transfer them, you are not forced to pay for them but they have a value because they are NFT or tokens on a blockchain. The trick would be building a game with blockchain mechanics in background. Gamers hate blockchains and crypto related games because they need an investment. Games areeant to be played without being forced to pay to play.

Did request network ever become paypal 2.0? When did funfair token change the gambling sector? Waltonchain was going to revolutionise supply chain networks worldwide but that never happened. Who remembers the great potential of TNB or POE coin? EOS will change the world! OST simple token will be massive as every company will use them to create their own token. Electroneum will become the currency of the unbanked! So much hilarious nonsense above that was genuinely portrayed by sooo many during late 2017 early 2018. I really do find the shilling on this sub daily very entertaining as in a few years so much of the crap spoken about will be as much of a joke as those above I mentioned.

This is so exciting it makes my hair stand up. But it also scares me a bit because Bitcoin doesn't merely facilitate free trade, it threatens the classic banking system and the power it gives to governments run by the wealthy. Remember all the weird internet blackouts we've had recently? I think it's related to the EARN IT bill, which is a federal program for scanning user data. I've also been experiencing strange network behavior, for example, as I was installing Path of Exile this morning, it timed out three times. It just halts and displays a 'disconnected' dialog box. But I wasn't disconnected from the internet. I've never seen that before. I couldn't tell if it was automated or someone somewhere between my computer and the POE server being a dick at 3am. In any case, my point is that a lot of functioning psychopaths have a strong political and financial motive to end all private communications over the internet by permitting ISPs, content sharing websites, and cloud storage services to block all encrypted data and scan all unencrypted data for anything unlawful. If this happens the Bitcoin network might have to migrate from the internet to HAM radios.

I would love the idea that the MTX for which I spent a ton of money could be sold so I can buy something else if I feel like it. Also that you could gain some token which can be exchanged between different games. Remember d2jsp? That thing is awesome, you can sell stuff in path of exile for forum gold and buy stuff in diablo 2, or other games. I love this idea. Soulbound items is a bad choice in my opinion and it's partially why i like D2 and POE more than D3.

A Diablo with crypto would literally be the peak gaming experience. I’m a D2 player but played D3 as well. You can already buy items using forumgold on third party trade sites. It doesn’t really matter if you are PVE. You still play in groups and can show off your gear. And can always go the PVP route if you want. I’m not sure how you tokenize a game like that though. Entry to dungeon maybe. But imagine the drops that you own. It would have to be a weapon generator that’s bigger than any other, a mix of borderlands, POE, and Diablo. That would be huge.

Well, sadly, if you're not trolling, you're suffering from mental retardation. POE's law. I'm not sure how much more simply I can explain the faulty premise in your argument. One more try: Did Bitcoin and house prices have perfect correlation between 2011 and 2021? The empirical data show that no, they did not. Bitcoin increased in USD$ value much more than housing did. So why do you suppose they will suddenly correlate perfectly from 2021 to 2030 (or whenever)? It's not impossible that these markets will suddenly move in exact parallel. But you've failed to give a sound argument as to why anyone should believe they will.

>Haha, I love how you give multiple answers depending on what intent the other person could have had. True, I'm suffering the side effects of POE's Law I'm angry at human stupidity. There is nothing special or great or any of that nonsense, about me. If I can figure this out, I'm stuck wondering how most humans haven't. The aversion to dying is based on the evidence I have, not anger. I see no mechanism to carry relief of whatever negative valences of consciousness might be associated with dying. So it's pointless to die if my goal is to solve these root problems. Can't solve them by making more people suffer the problem either (i.e. breeding). So I'm stuck with transhumanism and post-evolution, and you can bet I'm not the only person come to these conclusions, and I doubt I'm the only Bitcoin user with this conviction. Hopefully Bitcoin - a brilliant piece of technology and social re-engineering, frankly - can fund the research that corrupted governments have FAILED to fund, and these problems can be solved within a generation. I doubt it, but it would be a nice thing to see happen.

I've constantly had to tell myself "If you don't sell, you won't take a loss." Much easier said than done, I know, but the likelihood the big coins go to zero is very minimal. Just as long as you don't have cash that you depend on tied up during what can be a long bear season. And understand that some of the alts may never recover (I'm looking at you, POE). I personally got in in Jan of 2018, and 2020 was the first time my portfolio was green. It was definitely exhausting mentally, but I found myself doing research and learning about new coins to pass the time. Then, for a while, I just didn't think about it anymore. Hang in there, and make informed decisions based on your own situation. I love to see everyone holding steadfast and riding it out, but I'll also never knock someone for getting out of it. It's all about what you can handle, both financially and mentally. Stay healthy everyone.

PoS in Wyckoff's accumulation is when we drop below a support level and climb back up, winning against the resistance lines. PoS is a common POE (point of entry), since it is practically proof of a markup. UTA is Upthrust Action, when the second resistance line is formed and we have a resistance range. PS is Preliminary Support. It is a support that forms in a markdown to stop the markdown and start an accumulation phase. Search for Wyckoff's Laws and Accumulation and Distribution.

There are thousands of cryptos out there and hundreds that I would say have 'unique' ideas behind them. Of course, I can't list them all. However, here is just a small sample that I find unique. Please note that I am NOT saying these currencies are the only currencies to do what they do (there may be similar or potentially better currencies with the same features), but these are just a few off the top of my head. I'm also not saying any of these currencies are good choices to purchase - they are simply interesting. ENJIN - while the actual blockchain isn't all that unique, I think the implementation of NFTs in games is a cool idea. The games are currently quite lacklustre, but if this idea catches on it could be very interesting. Imagine picking up a legendary item in WoW, POE, Borderlands, etc that is truly unique, valuable, and tradeable on the blockchain? That's pretty cool IMO. IOTA - runs on a system called 'Tangle' rather than on a blockchain. IOTA is the first currency (I've heard) to have no fees. It also has near-infinite scalability. What makes it interesting is that it is designed for IoT devices and IOTA may allow companies or groups to purchase information generated by these devices while allowing the user to also gain. As IoT devices become more common, IOTA will hopefully grow too. BAT - Basic Attention Token is basically what the name implies - a currency designed to award users for their attention. This is currently implemented in the most interesting way in the Brave Browser, a browser that has non-intrusive ads. Each time the user sees these ads, they get credited a small amount of BAT for their attention. I believe, if you click on the ads and actually look at them in more detail you are credited more. Another great implementation is that if you watch a Youtuber or read a news site that is registered with Brave, they will receive some portion of BAT from you at the end of the month. This is a cool way to counter intrusive ads. However, Brave does have some issues and the userbase is currently small. Anyway, these are just a few that are interesting. They may not be as unique as coins like POT COIN or Unobtanium, but I see them as (potentially) being far more useful.

Depends on if you're holding long-term or short-term. This is 100% speculation, but I've been around since the last crash... and it very much feels like we're clanking up the roller coaster track toward a very sudden drop. If you invest at the end of the month, you'll probably lose money short-term. But, if you'd held VET through the last crash (like I did), you'd have seen the price crash from 2 cents down to 1/4 cent and then skyrocket up to 18 cents. If you stuck it out 3 years, you're now up at least 9x. Now, there's no guarantee that VET is going to survive the next crash. Personally, I think it will. But I also held onto several coins that got obliterated during the 2018 crypto winter (fuckin' POE lolololol) and I would've been better just jamming a wad of 20's up my ass like a poor man's Christopher Walken. So... do you what you feel, buddy!

So-- cameras a always a value game. Even if your budget lets you spend a lot, it's good to get more cameras unless you are securing a very small space. You want adequate resolution, good performance in low light, and the right (usually narrow) field of view. It's good to get cameras with adjustable zoom, so you can zoom them in as tight as your positioning allows. I use the wired dahua cameras and can strongly recommend buying them from Empiretech andy on ipcamtalk. Now to be clear: Like most other chinese internet connected devices their firmware is pretty crappy and they are full of backdoors and god knows what else. They should be put on a firewalled (or totally isolated network). They have POE cameras for under $150 that have phenomenal low light performance (checkout reviews on ipcamtalk). The hikvision products are roughly similar, though they seem to have a somewhat worse human rights track-record and I don't have a good of a source for them. You can view/record them with anything that read a RTSP stream (e.g. VLC), or use a dahua NVR (which is an embedded PC you stuff disks in to record the video). They recently announced a new line of low cost cameras which are hybrid thermal (with a 400x300px thermal sensor), I have a couple on order, and unless they're total crap they're probably going to become my recommended outdoor camera anywhere the higher cost ($475) is tolerable simply because how much better thermal cameras are in distinguishing irrelevant background shadows/trees from stuff that is alive. (I have a couple dahua thermal security cameras now but they were amazing ebay finds, thousand dollar cameras I got for much cheaper).
