My personal and humble opinion: Consultants they hired added an extra slide on their PowerPoint presentation and we got rugged. Reddit doesn't want SEC at their back prior to IPO and the easy solution is to rug 15,000 users (r/cc, r/ethtrader, r/FORTnITE) I'm sure they will get back to that idea (blockchain based community points and a central $RDD coin) when the time comes.
I used to hold RDD back in 2015. One of the only functional wallets back then, and they were early to staking. They just never made any progress in the last 8 years.
We already had RDD which was exactly that.
Consider the following outcome: Reddit creates a sitewide token, let's call it $RDD and there are trading pairs to all existing/future community points (i.e. MOONs, BRICKS, etc).
Wasn't RDD also one of those tokens who claimed to be social or something?
RDD was intended to provide a way to tip on any social media platform. (Content creators on Youtube, for example, or for someone's Tweet.) It never happened to that extent, but there was a time when the ability to tip RDD to anyone here on Reddit was actually quite easy and, in my opinion, worked very well.
Bear in mind that in 2014, being in the top 50 meant that you were better than half the coins in existence. All kidding aside, moons were designed to have a purpose, whereas RDD was just a coin bearing a naming resemblance to reddit.

I remember ReddCoin, (RDD), I kept it a lot longer than I care to admit :D I really believed the whole "Reddit + Social" angle they had, also they had some rewards as well for holding, and that was a first, (well for me it was anyways). I sold it a while ago, I was very sad...
Many years ago I was a big fan of Reddcoin (RDD), because of the name, (of course), and because of the social media angle they had. I also liked the way you could earn RDD just by having your wallet open, at the time it was a neat thing.
RDD. I made consistent multiple x returns every bull run. It’s been mostly delisted from nearly everywhere that I traded it so I think last bull was my last time participating. Sad about it
I am embarrassed to say, XVG and RDD, I really thought verge had an edge when it came to security and reddcoin also had a cool plan with social network. In the end, both of them were just copies of the bitcoin code with some minor bells and whistles.

Pure luck. It's pretty easy to spot meme coins and scams but nobody knows if a small promising project will take off or not. The best example is RDD, they've been active since 2014 and continue to improve their network which works great btw but still haven't managed any sort of price movement in the last 12 months or so and have had a bear market since 2018. Extremely undervalued or did they just underdeliver and missed the hype train? It's difficult. And then there's SHIB which has been doing great this year and is still holding up. Nobody could have predicted a 65 *million*% increase in 2021 and yet still some people got lucky and bought early on. They started as a meme coin but are now taking it seriously and trying to improve and innovate so the future looks promising and not a single sign of a scam anywhere. Tldr it's pure luck

I guess RDD is such a project, even though they haven't really delivered anything substantial since the creation in 2014. They're currently working on a mobile cross platform tipping wallet, and have recently begun beta testing. Transaction takes about a minute to fully confirm and fees are basically non existent. So the ecosystem would be perfect for this usecase but as I said, it's not finished yet. www.redd.love
Currently staking RDD on a Raspberry Pi under my desk, uses almost no power and returns around 9% anually. The best way to sit out a bear/sideways market if you didn't sell *cough cough*
Reddcoin. The devs have been making promises for *years*; promises that never materialize. And the diehard RDD HODLers keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Reddcoin was once a top 50 coin; now it's around 550.
I invested in RDD also, one of the original forks of BTC, but totally a dead project now.
RDD - Reddcoin. I sold out in 2018, but have continued to follow the sub here on Reddit. The people ostensibly behind RDD have been making the same promises for *years* that in the end never materialize. I'm 100% convinced RDD is a scam, and that key devs have for a long time been banking money off RDD (via their unlimited supply of free coins).
I dunno what OP is Hodling but my RDD Hodling since 2018 hasn't gone too well (Sideways around 10 sats for over a year now with small spikes)

Reddcoin for me (RDD) I bought at 10 satoshi and soled at 160 right before the price dump after that first pump. I moved at the gain into WAX since that chain is doing all the stuff RDD wants to do but it already working on WAX and there’s a whole NFT and gaming side to the chain. I still look back sometimes from my, now massive, NFT collection over at the RDD community who is still talking about the same implementations they were teasing 4 years ago lol Here I am with my own custom wallet name, making 5% annually from staking, sending fee free transactions, wondering why people are still holding out for custom wallet names on RDD lol

RDD is currently around 4 sats with a great project and active development behind it. They focus on providing a universal social media tipping platform. The only reason the price is so low is because they don't really care about Publicity and / or don't have the funds to start a big campaign. So there's just not much volume on the markets and consequently no incentive to drive the price up. They were pioneers in staking technology (and still are with PoSv2) and were originally a Litecoin fork, thats how long this project has been alive. Deleted my old portfolio but probably something like XVG or RDD back in 2017.
I been in crypto since 2017, was big on Xrp, xlm, LTC, Ada, Rdd, and Doge, etheruom. I always wanted to buy Bitcoin, November and December was huge for bitcoin. You had the huge pump and dumps with McAfee and other influencer. I did follow his tweet back than .. I was on multiple exchanges, but mainly on bittrex. Was also using Binance, Kucoin. Bitstamp.. on 2018 my last purchase was January 12 (the day my 2nd daughter was born ) January 13 we had the dip that never stop . I held and held but eventual sold .. stopped looking at crypto until early 2021.. I got in to normal stocks. I Remeber my friend telling me to jump to Bitcoin in 2019 in March when bitcoin was 3k+$.. but after the 2018 I was hesitant... big mistake haha.. so I was able to get in on 2021 .. found out I has couple hundred XRP left which I'm still holding.. doge fever was going on . Found out I uses to have 40k+ dogee to only find out I got 500+ left .. ( 50$ of dogee was turned to 1700$ at peak) still holding to that. I still got 29k RDD coins lol . Couldn't get access to my etheruoms.. so Yes I made profit but have never taken fiat out.... Also found out had some kucoins and Bnb (70-100$ )
Barely diversified, I've got 98%+ on RDD, staking with 9% Annual yield and a market that can only move sideways or up.

Yeah, bitcoin transactions are not free. Lowest fee is around 3$ and I myself have paid 90$ for a transaction back in the day. So this is not feasable. If market goes bullish again tx might go to 1000$. Better use RDD where transactions are fractions of the cent.

RDD staking works great. Got a Raspberry Pi set up running 24/7 and making about 3 to 4 times the cost for electricity. Averaging around 150rdd per day with a balance of 500k. Currently worth about 50 eurocent per day.

Many like myself bought a few of these Altcoins like Safemoon, baby doge, etc for FOMO. But frankly speaking, we really don't know which shitcoin will be next hit coin. Look @ Doge??? . (Is it not about making money @ the end of the day). In early 2017 I bought approximately $5,000 worth of RDD. (Resulting in me owning a LOT of RDD.) But in order to buy RDD, I first had to buy a real coin. So I bought ETH in order to exchange for RDD. 362 ETH, to be exact. Made a big profit on RDD when it rocketed up in late 2017/early 2018, but had I simply held the ETH until this year my initial $5,000 in ETH would have been worth around $1.5M.
Your explanation is on point. But I believe a lot new investors are going for shit coins because of trying to get rich fast. Don't get me wrong, alot of people already made 6 digit gains from alot of these coins.. Imaging put in 1000$ on coin that has .0000000001 value.. and it drops 2 zeros.. now you just made 100k$ and alot of people saw that during April and May.. I know it's Risky but I'm in few coins and if they drop 2 zeros, I'll be a good 6 digit profit. I remember Bitcoin way back , where the only way to place bets on online, was by purchasing Bitcoin and then you can place bet.. I started getting on crypto 2017 heavily.. I was in so much profit.. then comes January 2018 and that's when all started dropping, I didn't want to loose anymore and went out, if I held I would of been millionaire now.. My main coins are BTC, Eth, Polkadot, XRP , I still have some RDD from 2017 :) ...
Sirin (SRN). I bought at $0.40 and now it's less than 1 penny and virtually illiquid (to me at least). Honorable mention: Ardor (ARDR) and Reddcoin (RDD). I'm only out a few hundred on those coins, but at least I'm in the black with crypto overall.
That said now is the time to buy RDD, they just went to ATL at 4 sats after multiple years of a bear market...

I had it at $0.002 during Quarantine. I don’t remember how much DOGE was when I bought in 2016/2017 I lost Millions of DOGE and RDD coins when Cryptopia got hacked in 2018.
$200 to $20,000 between December and February on various coins. I had a strategy that I saw someone do in 2017-2018 where someone put $50-100 into a lot of coins went up a lot …I did that and a lot of the coins 600-3,000% like MATIC, BNB, NPXS/Pundi X, RDD, DOGE, and various exchange tokens. Then $100 into Shib right after Elon mentioned wanting to buy a Shiba Inu dog, I bought some as a joke, I regret not putting a lot it because, it went up 300X (~$30,000) . I kept some in there and moved the some of the Profits into LEASH (Doge Killer) and that went up more than 10X from $200 to $2,000 and then reached an All Time High of $10,000 per coin, but now its at $4,000 after it pumped 110% the last 3 days. I took $6,000-$8,000 and spread it. A lot of my coin are down since the Great Dip. I played around with Margin and Futures, but I blew that money. This Bull Run showed us that the impossible is Possible. I used to have Millions Doge coins, but I sold them because it was a Joke, well those millions are worth more than $2,500,000 if I just them for a year. Nothing is impossible in Crypto. I made 100X off of 1 coin at the End of 2017, 25X in 1 Day (Thank You McAfee and Rest In Peace). That was eye opening.
Reddcoin RDD The coin has been around since the early days of crypto. It has its own blockchain so it isn't subject to gas fees. The dev team got active again earlier this year. On the topic of "is it ok to put money on these mooning shitcoins? You guys are trashing them, but my stupid friends are making a lot of money right now", here's my two cents: It can be great to make money as long as you have an extremely precise exit strategy. With a solid project (say, ETH), you can probably afford just holding and not caring too much. It's extremely unlikely that you'll be red in a few years, even if things go bad for a while (think 2018-like crash). With actual shitcoins or weak projects, it could burst at any point and never recover (I still pray for you you, RDD bagholders). So you better have a really good exit strategy planned out to get your profit and move out. Otherwise, if you just hold, driven by greed, there's a much higher chance that you'll end up holding bags forever. And just know, if you're new to this: it's NOT easy to let go of your bags when you get a taste of profits. That's the big trap with these flimsy projects.

Ofcourse you have to study the project so that you will not get rekt with the token you are about to invest. Find my holdings for long term Ada, BNB, CAKE , RDD , ETH and GRPL All of them has good fundamental work.
