Been in crypto since 2017. In April 2021 I 15x-ed and cashed out 3/4 to pay off mortgage. Feel free to ask anything, I am here to tell you it can be done and help out.

2017/18 altseason was exciting because it honestly seemed like everyone involved would become a millionaire. REQ, VEN, ICX, XRB. Those were the days where money was being thrown left and right. Those days are over. Will never come back.

I should have sold VET when it when it was still called VEN...wait...i should have never bought VEN in the first place.
I went 80% down on VEN/VET after buying Jan 2018. It went 15x eventually in the next cycle
Yup, who'd have thunk the two shitcoins outta China WTC & VEN would turn out to be scams eh?
Upcoming VEN partnership with BMW! Omg Louis Vuitton will use VET to authenticate their products!
I remember the WTC & VEN fanboi wars, both convinced their shitcoins would take over the world 🤣🤣🤣
I think it's also funny that these "examples" are always coins that went up 100x but then also went down, as if people didn't make money on them (which is why they were talked about in the first place), and as if people held these things for 6 years in despair. - Ark - 250x - LINK - 350x - NEO - 1000+x - VEN/VET - 100+x - NANO/XRB - 1000+x Etc - Yes, I get the concept, don't get married to your coins, and absolutely agree with it, but like you said, coins that were talked about back in the day in /r/cryptocurrency are not because they are "the bitcoin destroyers" and people want to keep them forever - It's because they generated absolutely massive gains.
I still hold VET, but gradually losing confidence in the project. Should I sell now or wait a few months? I’ve been in for years (since it was VEN) with no material rise in price. It’s the only coin in the top 40 still trading under $.05 and I’m getting tired of the “sunny show” with a lot of ambiguous comments about partnerships etc. Appreciate any guidance someone who knows more about this stuff than I do. Thanks in advance.
Yeah they're moving back from VET to VEN and reducing supply by 100 to 1 ratio. Genius move
I first got in Jan 2018 and threw 1000 in (on VEN) and watched it turn to 100. Swore I would sell if it ever got even close to what I put in. Then basically didn't see anything until the next build up started happening and all of a sudden, I didn't want to sell as I watched it explode past my initial investment and then some more. Then of course it plumets along with everything else I fomod into during the last parabolic cycle. Then after learning about halvings and cycles, I thought I'd try again but this time using my brain. Calculated what and when I assumed to be the low (which was fortunately correct) and what and when I assume to be the high (time will tell). DCA out starts months before predicted high because I want to be methodical about it and not try to time anything. Also maybe my predicted peak is way off, so better just sell off a bit at a time.
VET was previously VEN and reached the equivalent of 15 cents.
It was called VEN before it migrated from Ethereum to its own blockchain, VET launch was in 2018
Don't worry. When every alt pumps and vet is sleeping you'll regret your choices again. Source: VEN holder since 2017
What’s the news? Or what have they done lately? I haven’t been into VET since… VEN turned into VET lol
You assume I was in BTC or some other high cap coin. I was in VEN/VET that went down a LOT during the bear market and yes - a lot of freelancing, taking second jobs and putting in a lot.
2017 VEN bags are still loaded, minus some profit taking last run. Send it
VET hit a new ATH in 2021. Although the token multiplied by 100 and was rebranded from VEN to VET, it 3x from it's previous ATH.
VEN vs. WTC never forget, lol.
People from the VEN club are my kind of people. We saw the future before anyone else.
Back in 2017 VEN (now Vechain) was the top shilled coin…someone would post about any other crypto and someone would be like “that’s cool, but have you heard about VEN?!”
I've been a vechain holder since it was still called VEN. Looking for newer coins though.
Yea but have you heard about VEN?! Def 2017 again
There used to be a cryptic OG influencer/insider when VET was VEN called CocaColaKid. So keeping with tradition, VET or VTHO gets my vote.
Just did a cursory look at 2017: BNB? VET (which was VEN back then)? Not sure about the others, but man, looking at that list was pretty depressing...so many dead projects people had such hope for.
Man I've been itching to get back into crypto. I'm feeling ETH, XMR, LINK and VEN. What are some potential underdogs (not shitcoins) in today's crypto space?
Should have sold before it transitioned from VEN to VET.
Well after turning my VEN into VET four years ago and moving it to the vethor wallet I just moves it to the bew VeWorld wallet and said goodbye. End or an era and onto the next bull market
It was before VEN and was one of the first IOT-craze coins.
Ahh yes, the supply chain tokens, crazy times. Brings me back to the balcony conversations - bitcoin guy video. “Yo get VEN right now, get VEN right now”! Lmao that video used to crack me up.
Ahhhh Walton 😂 I remember when it was all out subreddit war between WTC and VEN. Walton fan bois would come over to Vechain and spam the sub telling us how their token was going to wipe vechain off the face of the Earth. I guess they picked the wrong side
As a VEN holder, I loved that whole tweet debacle.
I'm here to gamble my man. I bought Vet when it was VEN and a few cents, I bought BNB when it was like a dollar. But I also bought ICX at like 6 dollars. Can't always win.
My portfolio for this run is almost just BTC and ETH. In 2017 it was almost 100% VEN, and 2020 it was ALGO. I still hold a little of both for the memories.
Still holding some since VEN. Coinbase listing should help it in the next bull
Been holding some since it was VEN, good bet this bull again for me. They’ve continued to develop whole time in terms of chain and marketing, with coinbase the icing on the cake
It was also pretty popular in the 2017 bull run, it was called VEN back then. Will probably pnd again this cycle so make sure you take profit.
[Blackrock moving the SEC out of the way as they should.](https://media.tenor.com/b83VEN3dTZ4AAAAC/dave-chapelle-not-you.gif)
I have actually re-bought a little this bear and have some remaining thats never left the wallet since they moved to their mainnet and changed from VEN to VET lol they’re marketing more than even and now they’re on coinbase i see it as a solid bet. Again though, this js not advice lol
I first bought VET when it was VEN at the start of 2018, went down over 80% and stayed red for two years. Dca’d more during the bear and went 15x on my investment in the bull
I first bought VET when it was VEN
I first bought it as VEN, then changed to VET when they moved onto their own mainnet. Put it in the original wallet and a lot of it still sits there lol yeh and it happened on a weds instead
You are still holding from the VEN day? Also I didn't know that Coinbase already listed Vechain. Guess the next Thursday meme already over huh.
Nice yeah I also bought VEN first, swapped it to VET once it got its mainnet and it hasn’t moved from the original wallet since lol
Same here, early 2018, in VEN time, when it was around 3$.
I held it since VEN day and finally sold last bullrun for a tiny profit. Good luck to you, hopefully it will perform better the next bullrun.
I’ve got a strong relationship with VET, when it was still VEN. Not letting it go untill it reaches a new ATH
My bad. It’s only down 93% from ATH. I thought it hit higher when it was still VEN in 2017-2018 due to the token split but I’m wrong.
As someone here from the VEN days, I can’t believe this happened. I don’t know what else to joke about moving forward
VEN became VET and went in to make new all time highs and will again.
Kinda died off yet hasn’t given up the top 40 rank since VEN days. I’m unsatisfied with progress but can’t call it dead
All I know is that I had a shitload of VEN in Binanace and when it converted to VET, I got a lot more shitloads of it
I love how the shills have changed in this sub over time. I recall being here in 2017 and every comment was about REQ, VEN, XLM etc. Now everybody is a moonchild… I wonder what 2027/28 will bring us
Is it still there? I used to buy that when it was VEN... good going
I don't think in Vechain's case it had anything to do with the token price. They made the switch because they moved from Ethereum blockchain (VEN) to their own blockchain so they could introduce the other token (Vethor) which is used as gas to make transactions.
The real question is, are they diluting the supply with more tokens? And why rebrand at all? Historically, rebrands are predicated on tokens that have obliterated charts. VeChain did this when VEN dropped from $6 to pennies in 2018 (original ticker was VEN). The chart was so destroyed that they changed the ticker to VET, essentially nuking all former price history to start anew. Same happened with RaiBlocks rebrand to Nano. It's a bold move but seeing that MATIC hasn't nuked into oblivion, I don't see why it's necessary.
[MATICUSD 1W, MATICBTC 1W, MATIC TVL/Vol. all-time](https://imgur.com/a/Mg4ylqS) The sneakiest thing about the rebrand is that the token will have a new ticker and new chart. Meaning that if it falls below diagonal/horizontal support when the new ticker launches, it won't be observable on the chart because it resets all previous price action. VeChain did this when VEN dropped from $6 to pennies in 2018 (original ticker was VEN). The chart was so obliterated that they changed the ticker to VET, essentially nuking all former price history to start anew. Same happened with RaiBlocks rebrand to Nano. It's a bold move but seeing that MATIC hasn't nuked into oblivion, I don't see why it's necessary. Rebrands are usually predicated on terrible charts.
What was it about VEN that you liked and made you really believe in it?
Your list is wrong. VET amongst others, is excluded. VEN peak was $9, or 0,09 in VET equivalent, then VET peaked 0,28 in 21’. LTC was €410 in 21’, on coinbase.
Maybe add Vechain. It was labeled VEN back in 2017.
Vechain when it was VEN. Yes, I do...
Current Vechain price should be multiplied by 100 since 2017 was when it was using erc20 tokens (VEN), and people were given 100 VET per VEN at the time mainnet went live As such, this would be coin #8 in the green, up a little over 100% since Dec 2017
VET / VEN and VTHOR to go with it Never trust a coin that has someone calling itself "sunny" in the board.
I remember when people were shilling VEN back in the OG CryptoCurrency days. It was so annoying
Some alts like Litecoin barely reached a new ATH and it’s actually one of the most successful. Some went far beyond their previous ATH like Doge and VET (previously knows as VEN). I think it’s difficult to say. Looking at price / market cap / what is Bitcoin doing will all be factors to me
Ive held since it was VEN. I’ll be holding into the next bullrun too. Salut to you
Originally VEN. Rebranded to VET in 2018. VEN was banned from being mentioned on this sub at one point as the shilling was so intense.
VET. Ah, sweet sweet VET. They were dominating the alt at some point. I was there since they were VEN. You're right. No harm in rebalancing. It's actually necessary.
Vet adjusted (from VEN to VET) ATH from 2017 was 0.11 USD. Vet ath in 2021 bull run was 0.28 USD. So Vet made a new ath and is far from dead
VET or VEN was its name when i first bought
LRC Probably the only time I’ve ever timed the market. Bought at $.41 and sold at $3.15 for a 658% return. Also have done a 340% return on holding VET since back when it was VEN.
I tracked VET from the days of VEN. Watched it plummet from highs and become nearly worthless. I saw the upside in it to reclaim all time highs, even thinking just a portion of that would be insanely profitable. Same thing with ADA. They were both 2017/18 coins that pumped like fucking crazy then plummeted. Just saw nothing but upside. The market is more convoluted now. Harder to pick an obvious winner.
Buying VEN wanting to get a nice position since there were nodes coming. Lost interest in crypto for a bit and came back with VET near its ATH. Sold it for at least a x50.
Lonnggg story, I actually sold my fancy node back in the day for the same amount of tokens I HAD xD It was… 1.6 million? I forget the multiple after the VEN to VET split Anyways sold the node status for 1.6m? VET. Kept my 1.6m vet until 2021 but diversified the rest. Anyways ehhhh I haven’t followed them in AGES, did they ever reveal who the authority nodes are? What have they done in the recent years?
VET was called VEN back then and was pre-split around $4-6 USD at the time? It was my biggest bag and DCA'd way down to something like .0035 per token. Sold a bit off(not during peak sadly), but did manage to make some profit. ENG(enigma) was another big one that's now known as SCRT(Secret)
Because everyone jumped ship from WTC to VEN, the communities had a lot of the same people. That was long after VEN overtook WTC as the darling alt coin of the moment and it was such a desperate move by the Walton people.
i have it since it's VEN days
VEN (later VET). Bought in 2018. Sold it all. Made good money. Also bought XRP around the same time. Sold it eventually, but 5 years on it is worth basically what I paid back in the day. Definitely glad I let that one go.
I bought $1000 worth of VET back in 2017-2018 back when it was VEN. I knew absolutely nothing about crypto. A friend told me how to do it. Lost the seed for the wallet since I had no idea what I was doing.
Back in 2017/18, the buy walls were sometimes bullish. I remember VEN (a.k.a. VET) used to have insane buy walls and it kept on moving up during the altseason run of January 2018. Probably ICX had these buy walls also, which triggered FOMO but with the prices mooning. I think times have changed now that even during the bull market, buy walls are not a good sign.
I remember when they changed from VEN to VET and had a cheesy ceremony with a Thor Hammer 🤣.
I think I put in like $50 on VEN and left it dormant on Binance. That turned into about 50K VET. Still holding whenever if gets to .10 I'll sell
You’d be surprised. Lots of 2017 VEN supporters are still here. I was buying back then, I was buying in 2021, and I’m still buying now. I hope anyone that bought the top is taking this few year DCA opportunity.
> Putting all their eggs in the oil basket, plus US sanctions when the US was it's biggest customer, plus almost every conceivable wrong economic management decision. Vechain and dot are both solid projects both with a great team. I hodl both, I’ve been in Vechain since the VEN days. Dot is a great way to make a passive income. They will both be apart of the future I can promise you that. One thing you need to look at is the funding a project has to weather a bear market which both of these can and will do.
Vechain. My first altcoin i bought in Jan 2018 when it was VEN (worse moment to buy in history at the time). Swapped to VET when they moved to mainnet, moved to the wallet, held the whole two year bear market, bought some more, held into the bullrun. Still up Now, still buying, reddit name after it. So i’m fully married, no chance of divorce. I have diversified into other project too though.
A fellow vet hodler, I salute you. Held since VEN, will likely have some into the next bullrun
Oh, I see. Thank you. I need to look into the purpose of VEN more. If I'm correct, VET and VTHO go to the same address. I'm guessing VEN is used to bridge it to Ethereum for tracking? With BTC, the address looks completely different, so it's harder to make a mistake, and most apps would reject an ETH transfer there as "not a valid ETH address". VET/VTHO addresses looking just like ETH addresses is confusing. Thanks for the help!
VET is its own coin, with its own blockchain. While VEN is a ERC20 token, on etheruem. So your title is wrong, ERC20 tokens can be sent to ETH addresses. The problem arises when VET (not an ERC20 token) is sent to a ETH address. Problems happen when you try to interact with multiple chains at once (and you aren't using a bridge or similar). It would be nonsensical to try to send ETH to a bitcoin address, right? Same thing for VET and VEN. Also, just because you control an address on one chain doesn't mean you control the same address on another.
I gave him 300$ worth of VET at the top in 2017. He hasn't been impressed. He still calls it VEN.
I started buying ETH @ $16. Kept buying till around $200. Lots a bunch along the way in bad ICO's and other bad trades. Early on I sold enough to cover my initial investment. Kept day trading and growing (and shrinking) my stack until that December when everything went crazy, like three years ago? Sold everything I had around $900? Not the top, it kept going for a while after I sold. Made somewhere around $50k (before taxes.) Bought back in during the crypto winter that followed. Road VET (VEN) and ETH up and down, sold for another pretty nice pile and we paid for a down payment on our house. I'm now back in for a third time. This time buying up cheap shares of ETHX.B and crypto mining stocks. This will be a long hold, I don't see crypto coming back any time soon.
