I've been looking at real estate names for quite sometime, especially after the failed rates meeting. The top names, EXR, Prologis, AMT etc. aren't cheap (looking at PB, dividends, debt), nor they're trading down after November.

u/abnamrobank Why sooo pathetically poor selection of trading products?? * No Direxion ETFs * No stocks like BigBear, EXR * No possibility to get options on many large cap names like even Costco * Options selection is very poor even on super liquid stocks like MSFT, PLTR **WHY????** Anyone else pissed off too with ABN? On the bright side, the stock itself is great, 9.5% dividend and loads of buybacks!

Adding companies I own with profit margins >20%: QCOM, SNA, PAYX, FANG, EXR. A few others look pretty good, but I haven’t exactly done enough research, such as APD, JNJ, EOG, MRK.

hey, check your DMs, are you still scraping EXR. I'm a customer and trying to reconcile their claimed "periodic market pricing adjustments" but it seems they just jack up rates, actually force the rate changes through local operators but proscribed with their "sophistcated algorithms" in their ManagementPlus system. Anyways, maybe it's known, but it seems super obfuscated. I got fucked so I'm just like trying to blow shit up because it's ruthless, using existing customers, the challenge of getting your shit out, to hedge downturns and fluctuations to hit same store and company-wide numbers. https://preview.redd.it/2it25dboabqd1.png?width=1232&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c5841e1fce809d0df3062bb30252b4e53e9ac33

I worked for EXR for many years. Great company -- and still a big part of my current portfolio. Self storage is a very fractured business. The vast majority of facilities in the US are single-owner or small portfolio. EXR, PSA, CUBE, etc still have enormous room for growth through acquisition. Their current scale is such that it's almost impossible to compete. More and more small-time operators are going to throw in the towel and either sell or enter a management agreement with one of the big guys. I think EXR is best positioned to dominate and grow.

Thanks, EXR seems like a valid example. I would like to check whether such claims are still valid today, because many of them are from several decades ago (predate some US buyback legislation changes, etc). I searched on the text you quoted and found the [fool.com](https://fool.com) piece I think the quote comes from ([https://www.fool.com/investing/stock-market/types-of-stocks/dividend-stocks/how-to-invest-in-dividend-stocks/](https://www.fool.com/investing/stock-market/types-of-stocks/dividend-stocks/how-to-invest-in-dividend-stocks/)), but it has no research references in it. Of the "dividend stock" examples in that writeup, LOW is another good one, but several others (CVX, PG) have total returns similar to SPY. My personal suspicion is that the dividend stock edge has been watered down in recent decades because of tax advantages of buybacks (of course, it could also be just a convenient form of having less shareholder supervision, etc). If so, dividend stocks are basically a dying breed going forward.

r/investingSee Comment

I mean, it’s not just a claim in this instance but results of an methodologically sound academic study. One paper won’t settle the debate of course but the paper is a more rigorous look than just identifying a dividend stock that beat the S&P. But if you want an example, EXR

LSI probably a decent buy here given that PSA may come back with a higher bid than EXR's bid. PSA is 2x the size of EXR, so they have a lot more firepower in a bidding war. It's an all-stock merger though, so will fluctuate in price with EXR/PSA prices. But I do think there'll be upward pressure on LSI's stock from arbitrageurs pushing for a higher bid from PSA.

It's honestly not my area of expertise. I just know the names. But from a cursory glance, all 3 have very similar margins and revenue growth. I think PSA has the best ROE, ROA, and ROC, with EXR coming at a close second, and CUBE falling behind here. But, CUBE also trades at the best P/B and P/S, followed by EXR, and PSA the most overvalued. So I guess it depends on your priorities. Do you place importance on current valuation, or on capital allocation and returns? There's no right answer, just something to think about. PSA seems to be in the best financial situation from a pure debt standpoint as well, while the other 2 are over levered in my opinion. Knowing my own risk tolerance, I'd go with PSA just from the healthier balance sheet, but it looks, on paper, like CUBE may have the highest upside. But I'm not an expert on storage units, and don't know a thing about future outlook.

I have a small account as well. Only about $1,100. I've doubled my money within a week. By the end of January, if things keep going this way, I'll have made $8,900. If I don't then I still will have made 100% returns in five days. For small accounts options are the way to go because you need the leverage. You won't trade options for about three months once you begin learning about them. They're complicated but rewarding. I'll tell you what you need to do to make money. It's neither flashy nor impressive but you will make steady gains. The key to making money is to use boring, simple strategies. Ideally just one. Master it and stay consistent. Some advice. Once you realize the market is just like a casino then you'll start respecting it as a fierce enemy. The market wants to take all your money and watch you ... ahem... self-exit-game. It hates you and laughs at you. You have to be cool headed and smart to win. Yolo plays will make you lose so much money you'll have to eat your crayons to survive like the rest of the degenerates here. Want a quick strategy that I talk about non-stop? Everyone is going to know me for it: trend trading. It's the secret sauce. Ever hear of Turtle Traders? They were trend traders who mixed some basic technical analysis into the mix to predict breakouts. I recommend trend trading - not breakout trading. The point is they're legendary traders who made a ridiculous amount of profit using trend trading. Look at the 180 day charts of PLD, ACN, EXR, COST, V, and MSI perhaps. Notice anything? The trends are as smooth as my wife's ass. You might want to trade stock charts like those. You can't really get in trouble with this strategy and you can make a lot of money. It's very unlikely that smoothly trending stocks will suddenly change course just because you jumped in. Just ride the wave. If you use options you can get extra leverage and now you're making 100% returns in five days. How do I find the charts? There's a dude with a podcast called Follow the Money. I don't know him nor do I listen to his podcast but he puts up lists of charts. I go through about 600 charts individually and find the smoothest trending stocks that make the most gains in the shortest amount of time. It takes work but once I decide on a handful of stocks I'm good for a couple months. If he ever decides to stop putting those lists up I'm fucked lol.

Hey friend. Read this book. The first 140 pages are the most important. This book breaks down the greeks mathematically and demonstrates how to solve the equations. No I'm obviously not recommending you learn higher order math nor do I possess such skills. The point is that this book is exceedingly thorough and if you can stomach through or even skip the technical parts, the information is vital for new traders, especially regarding Delta, Gamma, Theta, and Vega. [https://procapital.mohdfaiz.com/books/books-image/mainBook/option-trading.pdf](https://procapital.mohdfaiz.com/books/books-image/mainBook/option-trading.pdf) This is a PDF of Jack Schwager's Hedge Fund Wizards book. In it, he interviews Jamie Mai. He was one of the guys in The Big Short. Jamie breaks down some strategies with options you might find inspiring. May help get your mind thinking about good trades but I don't recommend following his strategies too closely because he has a team who deals with higher order mathematics and we don't (presumably). So be smart but it may get the gears in your mind going. Definitely don't yolo on deep OTM call LEAPS anytime soon lol. Oh God I can tell you some horror stories lol. [https://www.fx-arabia.com/vb/uploaded/1750\_11401444500.pdf](https://www.fx-arabia.com/vb/uploaded/1750_11401444500.pdf) I myself use a trend-following strategy. I look for trending stocks like EXR, ACN, LSI, PDL, PSA, and choose the smoothest trending stocks. I'll grab the first OTM call option. I try to get the strike price just above the current stock price. When the stock price moves passed the strike Gamma is maximized and you get accelerated profits. I also like trending stocks because the IV is typically pretty low despite the stock making large moves weekly or monthly. That means the options contracts will be cheaper. This idea I got from Jamie. The BSM model, which is used to calculate options contracts, doesn't take into account momentum. Therefore options on smoothly trending stocks will be mispriced because their gains aren't able to be calculated accurately by the Black Scholes Model. Best of luck

Solid company headquartered in Austin, Texas 110M outstanding shares They came to the market with a big hype behind it… (like all EV related stocks) At one point it touched 58$ - ever since the bottom was at about 7.6$. Currently there is some sort of ‘’consolidation‘’ at this point. Outlook and curve looks bullish as our technical's continue to improve and we attract more interest. They are more than on track to reach their goals but the stock price does not reflect it at this given moment! Yes hence my case for the upside potential share price of 100-200$ in 5 years is not far fetched. Actually 2024 revenue projection is $2B (at ONLY 2% market share). A valuation of 10 times revenue, which would be reasonable for a company growing that fast, would produce a market cap of $20 Billion. Current market cap is $2 Billion. Shares would have to go up 10x to have a $20 Billion market cap, to $120/share. 2024 is only 3 years away. In 5 years we'll likely be much higher, capturing even more market share. 10 percent market share would put us at $600/share. Anyhow: They just started expanding their headquarters and they are hiring like mad. Additional office space and amenities will accommodate growing team of up to 500 employees . A redesign will more than double powertrain installation capacity and triple battery development space. What do they do: They basically design, develop, and sell electric powertrains solutions that are being added on existing Class 8 Semi Trucks. With the goal of transforming the commercial transportation industry’s environmental impact at scale and reducing the total cost of ownership.( See presentation page 9: it’s about 35% compared to diesel trucks) They leverage advanced software algorithms and data analytics capabilities and maximise the output power thus torc of the fitted trucks. Basically: Their efficient system.... decreases fuel consumption, lowers the operating expenses plus it provides extra power! Class 8 trucks you might ask? Yes Class 8 = The backbone of the USA economy Soo much in demand that at this point they have more demand than supply Catalyst wise : \- Joined Russell 3000 and Russell 2000 Indexes! \- They are on the brink of releasing their hybrid v2 and fully electric EXR truck. Most likely at ACT EXPO 31 aug - 1 sept 2021 \- Government incentives and more importantly - government mandates will be in HYLN favour the coming years since the trend overall is green. \- They have the best battery tech added to the trucks / meaning they can charge up faster ( by far ) than the competition and their added weight is small compared to the competition their solutions \- They have a ton of patents
