Introducing The WSB HEDGE FUND

Mentions

> I honestly don’t really know what a capital gains distribution is supposed to be. When YOU sell an asset, YOU have a capital gain. This is taxable income to YOU. When a FUND sells an asset, the FUND has a capital gain. This WOULD BE taxable income to the fund, but the fund doesn't want them, so they **distribute** the **capital gains** to YOU, so that once again they are taxable income to YOU.

My employer 401(k) is through MLynch and the default fund is "MYRETIREMENT 2060 FUND". Right now only 3% above SPY but was up to 5% at one point. Looks like over the past 10 years it averages just a shade under the S&P500 (11.07% versus 11.3%) but it dropped a fair bit less during Liberation Day which is the primary driver for the a stronger year than the S&P500 (so far) I believe. And if I feel like a bubble might pop soon it seems to be able to handle the drop better. At least it did most recently.

Lol. Did you seriously just say this? Dalio has called for a crash almost every year. His fund’s returns have been less than mediocre for over two decades. He is a massive grifter—and he grifted you into buying Principles. He doesn’t even manage the fund itself. He’s spent the last 20 years running a cult inside Bridgewater. You’d know this if you actually did any real research. Try reading THE FUND and then come back to me. It’s utterly hilarious that you think you need to explain to me who Ray Dalio is.

I can answer this! The big, what they called "Investment" raise, they did prior to going public was shady! They made you feel like you were getting more than you were. They self-assessed their share rate at $44/share... they of course covered their butts by stating all the legal jargon (risk, etc.), but it gave a lot of false hope. In fact, some of the wording was so confusing, that there were online commentary about the confusion. Bottom line, it was really a FUND RAISER, NOT and investment! Therefore, anyone that bought in, sure they were given Class A shares but you PAID $44 for those shares, then BOOM, hit the market, and they didn't understand it wasn't going to stay there! Saw it drop, and BAILED. Even though i knew i was getting shafted, i purchased a few shares at that rate... I had previously purchases shares when they Split from VidAngel and then again a couple other times. (most of my shares, sadly are tied up in Class B shares) so those give me voting rights, big whoop, but nothing else. Although, i did originally purchase Class C last year that converted to Class A, so that was a nice nest egg, because I purchased way lower. So, now... its at about $6/share.. so, Great time to buy.

Several 13G filings in August reveal that big funds are accumulating significant stakes: • Nantahala Capital Management, LLC – 10.63M shares (~9.99%) • Alyeska Investment Group, L.P. – 9.49M shares (~9.9%) • BIOTECHNOLOGY VALUE FUND LP – 6.27M shares (~6.4%) • Avidity Partners Management LP – 5.62M shares (~5.9%) This level of concentrated institutional ownership is unusual for a biotech and can make strategic partnerships or even an acquisition easier for a big pharma company. Combined with the strong pipeline marketing by management, increased conference presence, and recent clinical updates, the overall picture looks very bullish for IMUX.

It sounds like you were gambling with extra steps. The casino as 5% of my portfolio may be a good bet that I feel good about, but I'm guessing you were using 50% or more of your funds to trade options without seeking long term financially beneficial ownership of the underlying assets. Can you recover? Yes, but it's going to take you like 4 years or so.... I recommend you give yourself a hardcore rulebook to abide by so you don't fuck up like this again. I recommend setting aside 10% of your money each paycheck for EMERGENCY FUND until it is appropriately large. For me, I like a minimum of 2 months expenses in cash. I also recommend you set aside 15% to INVEST. Choose a passive investing strategy and intent to FOREVER HOLD assets that you buy. Be comfortable with your asset going down 50%. Even be excited actually because you did your damn research and are buying more because although you are frequently wrong on short term price action you are almost never wrong about medium-term (4+ years) company fundamental changes. You can do it man, but you need to pivot to a strategy that works in your favor... Fool you once, shame on market. Fool you twice, shame on you.

The FED stopped QE and actually put QE in reverse like 3 years ago. Now they started slowing the reverse process a bit by slowing down the rolloffs of bonds for balance sheet, bruit they have not been printing since before then. Maybe all the excess money they did print form 2020 to 2022 when they did QE nfifnity ha snot drained enough and why SP500 is almost 6400 which is so badly overvalued yikes despite a much higher than recent FED FUND rate of 4.25 to 4.5%. SP500 6400 and beyond just does n to feel sustainable unless inflation is low and FED cuts big time back to the 1 to 1.5% neutral rate. 6400 SP500 would have made more sense with historical growth with a near doubling in a little over 5 years if we were in the pre March 2020 low inflation 0-1% FED FUND rate ZIR{ when no other place to park money for return. But that has not been the case since late 2022.

Impressed by the VALUE ORIENTED FUND MANAGERS on WSB now. Those $GME, $AMC days must've been heady times. This one has some sauce and a decent 8+ million share trading day with a move that held. Most since Dec 26th when it popped to a 7.59 close ok m over 11.5 million shares THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS which is up there with the DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING as lamest sessions of the year. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/POET/ That's a lot of real money trading. Not a lot of short interest. Hedge fund promoting it? Likely, but so was $AMC and $GME. https://indexoptiontrade.com/f/poet-competition There's more on it there. Probably a short term wonder but it was a compelling note and checks out with what it says when you cross reference it.

FOR BONDS: You should look at your bank account to see if they sell any bonds under their company (both government and bank bonds). FOR MONEY MARKET FUND (MMF): Money market funds invests in short term T bills and other commercial papers. the difference between MMF and Bonds are that they are high liquidity where u can take out the money anytime you want. you should look at what companies manages MMF and see the fee % as it affects your earnings alot. My favorite is Fullerton USD cash fund "A". 100% safe and low fee of 12%. FOR FIXED DEPOSITS: This normally is found in ur bank app as well, check if they have any options of fixed deposit accounts for you. the rates depends on the bank tho. PS: its ok, we all start from somewhere.

And the notion that she and every one else in Congress would have non-public material information about these companies *months in advance,* without it leaking, is about as regarded as it gets. You would have to have a brain smoother than a cue ball to believe that.

OP, you have GOT to be kidding, right? There is so much wrong with your post. May I help identify them? Great! "I have a few index funds and my Fidelity account is professionally managed." Wrong. Index Funds are NOT professionally managed. These funds are so inexpensive because they follow an INDEX of funds and stocks are bought/sold automatically. These are unmanaged funds. "However, yesterday I looked into which specific companies make up these index funds and some of these are Tesla, Meta, Amazon and more that I have personally boycotted and was dismayed to see that they are in my stock portfolio." If you buy an index fund and these stocks are in that index then your "portfolio" will include them. Guess what ... these stocks are BIG on the NASDAQ. Solution ... get out of those IF that follow the NSADAQ and instead go for a DOW of S&P 500 index fund. "Am I able to call up my managers for these respective accounts and give them essentially a 'no fly' list for companies I never want to see in my portfolio? How does that work?" Absolutely not. NO ONE is "managing" these funds. These stocks are big on the NASDAQ, hence why they are being purchased. OP, the final thing that I will say is that you should REALLY get smarter on your investments if you are "boycotting" ANY company and please realize that you DO NOT own any stock in these companies ... the fund does. You own shares in the FUND, not the companies. Over and out ...

>Are they good to invest? Yes, but no. I'll explain. >FIDELITY LARGE CAP GROWTH INDEX FUND Should be fully, or nearly so, inside: >FIDELITY 500 INDEX FUND Which is fully included within: >FIDELITY ZERO TOTAL MARKET INDEX Think of it like buying a bag of Starburst (the Total Market). Then buying a bag of the orange & yellow ones only (Fidelity 500). Then buying another bag of just the orange (Large Growth). You're triple exposed to orange, double exposed to yellow, and only single exposure to pink & red Then consider that factor investing research would suggest the best long term returns actually coming from smaller caps and value: the areas you are tilting away from (pink & red in the Starburst example above). >Any better funds to invest? Consider that there's plenty of time where favor is outside the US. Something like FZILX for example. That'd be like adding a bag of Tropical Starburst to the original above: basically no overlap. Ok, now I'm hungry for Starburst. I originally did not intend to use a food example, but it seemed to work well.

I think there are a few points consider. First of all, you are very young, therefore you have time on your side. However, you do plan on getting married and having kids within the next 5 years, and seeing how you don't have a job right now that might mean you'll need to lean on some of the money pretty soon. There's also your consideration to buy a property. I'll try to touch on all of this. Generally speaking, I would only recommend investing money you aren't gonna need for the foreseeable future. I would go for an all world ETF like MSCI World, FTSE All World or VT. These give you the broadest distribution and therefore are relatively safe investments as far as stocks and ETF go. On average they should return 7-10% per year in the long term. The caveat here is that Stocks and ETF can always go down in price. Indexes usually recover, but it can take a few years. Therefore this is only really adviseable if you can happily let the money sit there for 5+ years. If you can, it's a great tool for building wealth over time, because as the money is invested over decades, the interest really compounds. You don't have a job currently - how do you manage your expenses? Is there a job on the horizon for you? If not, I would hold off investing the money for now until you have stable and regular income and can reliably plan with that money. It allows you to gage better how much you can invest. Once you have stable income, keep 6-12 months of expenses in a High Yield Savings Account as your EMERGENCY FUND in case you lose your job again or anything unforeseen happens. This is meant to prevent you from ending up in a situation where you are forced to undo your investments and sell your ETF for example. In short: You never want to be in a position where you are pressured to sell. As for buying a home: It is a consideration IF you want to live there for the foreseeable future. With that said, I don't think it's the best course of action. Owning a property will swallow up most if not all of your money, the housing market is somewhat expensive even with a recent drawback and owning a property comes with many more potential expenses than renting. In your current situation, I wouldn't consider it as a main investment. Unless, of course, you want to live there and raise your family there for the next 10, 20 years. If you want to be really save (at the expense of potential returns), you can divide your investments across different classes of assets, for example into Gold + All World ETF + Bonds.

I submitted transfer requests at Fidelity Investments from Edward Jones. The FA @ Edward Jones made hateful comments and investments in Money Market and NOTES that do not exist. A rep at his support team told me she never heard of ALLIANCE BERNSTEIN MONEY MARKET. I requested she reverse the transaction 2 days after processed. This is what happens when you are a NVDA BER FUND: Here’s Why L1 Capital International Fund was Not able to Monetize the Growth of NVIDIA (NVDA) L1 Capital International Fund stated the following regarding NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) in its Q2 2024 investor letter: "Simply not owning NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) was a key contributor to the relative underperformance of the Fund against its Benchmark. The Wall Street Journal even published a recent article with the title ‘No Nvidia in Your Portfolio? You’re Just Toast’. While that is a little melodramatic, it is rare for one company to have such an outsized impact on index returns. We readily admit that we underestimated the speed and scale with which Nvidia has been able to monetise its leading position in supporting the growth of AI. We have refreshed our financial analysis and while our valuation of the business has increased materially, we continue to view the current share price as providing an unattractive risk adjusted return in most scenarios. We appreciate the business has surprised to the upside in the past and we continue to follow Nvidia closely."

Well to be clear in an INDEX FUND (to include both index mutual funds and index ETFs) there is no active decisions and yes the allocations are just based on the index which is (normally) market cap weighted so if stock goes up it is a larger portion of the index but the shares are worth a large portion of the fund. In an actively managed fund yes the fund managers are making decisions but they may decide to simply sell NVidia because it has gone up a "lot" they aren't forced to buy more just because it went up.

S&P 500 (US only, large-cap only), Tech focus, Dividend focus, etc. You HAVE TO LEARN THIS. Then, AFTER you decide how much you want to invest in Large Caps, how much in Mid-Caps, how much in Small-Caps, how much in Growth vs Value, how much in developed markets vs emerging markets, how much international, how much government bonds, how much junk bonds ... THEN AND ONLY THEN do you pick a FUND to implement your Asset Allocation strategy. THEN AND ONLY THEN do you start looking at ticker symbols. NOT FIRST.

I didn’t read this all because Im coming off my Friday night hookers and blow, but OP is a true regard. Saying a money market FUND is not a mutual fund. You’re wrong, mutual funds are governed by the 1940 act. One section of the 1940 act is specific to money market funds (section2a7) and what they can and cannot invest in. Money market funds are a subset of mutual funds.

Pinned to the top of this subreddit: Single fund portfolios: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bogleheads/comments/tg1az5/should_i_invest_in_x_index_fund_a_simple_faq/ >(Followed JL Collins advice in Simple Path to Wealth) I find his reasoning flawed and poorly supported. >My justification for 100% Total US market allocation is that we can weather the storm over the years since we are so young. >Is this naive? Would we be better served if we changed to: The only type of risk that US only is, is single country risk, which is an *uncompensated* risk: one that doesn't bring higher expected long term returns. Uncompensated risk should be avoided whenever possible. Compensated vs uncompensated risk: * https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/uncompensated-risk/ * https://www.pwlcapital.com/is-investing-risky-yes-and-no/ >Uncompensated risk is very different; it is the risk specific to an individual company, sector, **or country.** >Would we be better served if we changed to: 1) 100% VFIAX S&P 500 would mean missing out on the area in the US with the best historical and expected future long term returns: smaller caps (especially the value corner). * https://www.pwlcapital.com/should-you-invest-in-the-sp-500-index - invest in the S&P 500, but don't end there (this covers info on both the US extended market and ex-US markets) [a total US market fund combines S&P 500 + extended market into one] >2)60% VTSAX, 30% VTIAX, 10% BND There we go. >3) Some other recommendation I am not thinking of? Target date (index), target allocation (index), or VT/VTWAX can all work as well, depending on how you want to handle bonds and if you'd prefer a fixed US to ex-US or one that drifts with global market cap weight changes.
