tldr; DIMO, a blockchain-based IOT solution, enhances car functionality by allowing cars of any make or model to establish a digital identity and interact with a network of services. It enables car owners to earn monthly income by sharing their car data. The platform aims to solve the automotive industry's fragmentation and lack of connectivity, offering benefits like peer-to-peer car-sharing, efficient insurance models, and autonomous tasks like parking. Users can monetize their car data by installing the DIMO app or device. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. As always, DYOR.

everyone bashing the op, but this is the most common denominator in crypto…otherwise we would all be rich. The bear market is ruthless and no one knows how low it’s going to get, and when most people invest huge amounts of money in a bull run they are hesitant to keep investing more, it’s called human nature. I was lucky I was an early investor in DIMO and used that airdrop on $20 dollar SOL, to try to diversity I invested evenly with ATOM and AVAX, guess what SOL was the only one that gave bull run results. In January I swapped my avax and atom for Bitcoin, good move, Got in at around 43k, but the better move should have been buying Bitcoin at the beginning instead of avax and atom. Live and learn, it’s the only way!

Setting up some crypto bag goals to grind for in the coming years: 10k DOT staked 10k MOONs 10k DIMO mined 1k BAT mined 100 million BONK (possibly even more depending on the price action. 1B coins would be cool) 1k MATIC just from cashback rewards basically and a small initial purchase 1k Pi mined (just for shits and giggles) Let me know what I’m missing

I don't think there is anything nefarious about Hivemapper (HONEY). The idea is solid. But when only \~10% of tokens are currently in supply, I get concerned as an investor. Also, there is consistent token earning by those who drive cars and map the roads (awesome to do for say an Uber/Lyft driver to increase their earning per mile). But those earning the tokens while driving may be more likely to routinely sell them to supplement their income. Perhaps my concerns are unfounded. Note that DIMO is similar to HONEY. It only has around 20% of its tokens in circulation. So you will need to evaluate it for similar concerns. They may end up being awesome investments, but I have picked other options for my portfolio.

Mentions:#HONEY#DIMO

Hivemapper (HONEY) is a cool idea. I like the idea of earning crypto while driving, but I don't drive enough for that to make a lot of sense. The token though is one I am very cautious of due to its fully diluted market cap. Only a small fraction of HONEY tokens are in circulation and it will get massively inflated. If you like HONEY, DIMO is another token to look into. Both are vehicle based DEPIN projects. I don't own either token.

I'm not convinced by any right now. AI needs a lot of memory, and doesn't distribute too easily. DePin is the crypto narrative that seems to be doing well. Projects like DIMO, and Hivemapper that sells hardware to car owners to earn tokens. Projects with actual customers.

Mentions:#DIMO

AI needs a lot of high bandwidth memory. It doesn't work so well, decentralised over a WAN. So I'm skeptical. The DePIN narrative is much more compelling, with projects like DIMO and Hivemapper actually selling hardware, and Streamr (DATA) providing the backbone.

Streamr (DATA) goes Mainnet tomorrow. 6 years in development. Backbone to DePIN projects like DIMO.

More recently I was an early adapter of DIMO and had a nice airdrop of 25,000 which I sold at between 0.03 and 0.05 cents that price has now been around .50 cents

Don't sleep on DePIN projects, decentralized physical infrastructure network; HNT Helium, decentralized wireless (IOT, MOBILE sub-DAOs), on Solana DIMO, decentralized automotive data, on Polygon HONEY Hivemapper, decentralized Google street view imaging, on Solana ELUM Elumicate, decentralized video stream data processing (not yet on exchanges, still very early), on IoTeX DRF Drife, decentralized uber, Binance chain DYOR on individual tokens, but this sector has vast upside. When people fomo into crypto-at-large this next bull run, they'll be looking to answer "okay now I have some crypto, what can I _do_ with it?". DePIN will be a huge part of the answer to that question.

I just started mining DIMO actually earlier last week! Essentially you get a car tracker for $300 that sends information from your car straight to the manufactures to improve their models, all the while you get DIMO every week. If you have a new smart car it is literally built in. I did the math and by the time next year rolls around, I will have earned roughly \~$600. So it takes about half a year to pay the tracker back but imo it's worth it. Especially since I like the DIMO token

It’s $300 for the tracker but apparently it pays $10-$20 a week so it’ll pay itself back in no time. And considering I drive for my job, it’ll accelerate my earnings All you have to do is just download an app on your phone, set up your wallet, get the tracker/(new smart cars have it built in) and you’re good to go! Look it up/into it there’s a lot of good tech behind it. Apparently it also has a Wi-Fi hub built in the trackers as well? Pretty neat

Well I can't talk for anyone else but there are projects out there that provide genuine utility. For example, one of the projects that I utilise is DIMO. DIMO is an open source, decentralised IoT network that leverages the data that is produced by your car. DIMO helps you get more from driving. Save money. Learn how to better take care of your car and contribute to a future where driving apps work for vehicle owners, not the companies that build them. Auto makers already make money from your driving data, DIMO gives you control and helps you to leverage that data. I am interested in this project for what it can do for me primarily but I am also making money from it.

Thanks for asking! 1) Whether these examples will stand the test of time and if they do fail, to what should we attribute their failure, who knows - but the _ideas_ behind these projects are examples of really great ideas for "crypto": Helium is designed to provide decentralized wireless network connectivity - individuals provide wireless connectivity by installing internet-connected radio devices and are rewarded based on the value they provide to the Helium network. Hivemapper is a decentralized Google street view - rather than having a massive mega corp pay for employees to drive a camera car down every street on the planet and then result in a monopoly of street-level imaging, individuals can be compensated for doing that while doing other things. DIMO is an automobile device that plugs into the standard OBD port that shares data with developers so that they can build applications using that vehicle data without involving the car manufacturer. These tokens aren't quite securities, aren't quite currencies, aren't quite commodities - but they have at least some attributes of each. I think a decent label is "utility token". But of course, any of these good ideas could be executed poorly or affected by externalities, just as any good business concept can be supplanted by errors, abuse, or unforeseen externalities. 2) Just as with any other endeavours, there are patent or trademark protections that might make sense for certain projects or particular project participants. But one project being better than another can mean tons of different things depending on the concept. Simply being first is often good enough but I think the best way to be better is to rigidly align interests. The thing about Helium, or Hivemapper, or DIMO is that since there is a token of some value involved, and the terms and conditions of the project are instilled in auditable software code - interests can be rigidly aligned to where every participant is either charged or credited commensurate with their utilization or contribution to the ecosystem. Existing corpo-capitalist structures and "bad projects" mis-align interests - these are the low hanging fruit for a decentralized embodiment to align those interests to come along and eat their lunch. So to identify a "good" project, ask yourself what is the existing misaligned interest and the new mechanism to align them.

Mentions:#DIMO
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Many cryptographic distributed ledger Blockchain projects, in their most generous interpretation, can be described by whose lunch does the project intend to eat. Who likes Ticketmaster?! Let's eat their lunch. Let's support a decentralized ticketing platform that breaks the bullshit monopoly Ticketmaster has over venues and performers. Who likes YouTube? Let's plug together web2.0 projects like livepeer and theta and replace it. Who likes Uber? Let's replace it with applications on top of DIMO. Who likes credit card companies and banks? Let's replace them with p2p self custody decentralized finance. Who likes telecom corporations? Let's eat their lunch with projects like Helium. These services will still have issues - humans at scale are always a nightmare - but at least we can remove the abusive middlemen CEOs with golden parachute and minimize inherent conflicts of interest by aligning interests transparently using distributed ledgers and smart contract auditable transparent immutable software. And wouldn't that be nice?

Helium (decentralized hotspots), dozens of AI networks, dozens or more of decentralized computing networks, dozens of file storage networks, DIMO (network for car drivers to get paid to provide data about their car), Hivemapper (network for car drivers to get paid to provide map data), carbon credit trading (it could be argued this is utility), XYO (Oracle network surrounding location services), oracle networks in general, PLANETS (mined by a network of pollution sensors), DATA (stream your own data and sell it through broker nodes). I'd consider DeFi as a utility (borrowing, lending, trading, earn yields through staking, tokenized stock trading, options trading). That's all I can think of for now. There are loads and loads more. Perhaps educate yourself before leaping to conclusions.
