Since you're new, a word from the wise: Take profits. Don't have to take them all. Maybe 10% here, 10% there...at least enough to refund your initial investment. Then the rest is free money! It's easy to get greedy but SO MANY people let it ride too long (you never know when the drop is) and then have nothing to show for it. I would rather have 50% of my theoretical maximum profit then risk it all, but that's just me.

Schiff's first comments (that I could find on the Internet) on Bitcoin were when it was under $1k. Here's an actual quote: > "To me, it looks like a modern-day Tulipmania... I don’t see bitcoins as an alternative to gold. If anything, [the creators of bitcoin are] modern-day alchemists, but you can’t make gold digitally. It’s no better than a fiat currency." -- Peter Schiff, Squawk Box, November 12, 2013. Bitcoin's price at the time was ~$375. He went on in that segment to talk about how it was a "bubble". It certainly was bubbling in November of 2013, but after it flew above $1k that month, it fell slowly to $160 by mid-January 2015. It's important to note that if you would have purchased Bitcoin AT ANY POINT during this 2013-2014 bubble popping, you would still be up at least 50X on your investment today. Bitcoin then went on a huge three year accumulation before having another bubble pop below $20k in 2017. It never dropped back down to $375 again, let alone below $1k. Also, when ponzi schemes or actual bubbles pop, they don't lose value slowly, they lose value quickly. Bitcoin is different. Some say it's anti-fragile. It's unique. I don't know how someone like Schiff, that has followed Bitcoin for SO LONG that he's watched it survive not just one or two, but three bubbles would honestly think that it won't survive this fourth "bubble". Technically you could argue that this is the fourth bubble or super-cycle in the nascent cryptocurrency. But in any event, there is absolutely no explanation as to why Peter Schiff still irrationally calls Bitcoin dead or dying. There's only one explanation for why he continues to comment negatively on Bitcoin; he's being **intellectually dishonest**. I wish someone in the media or another Bitcoiner would get on stage and simply read this verbatim: "The tulip bubble didn't survive more than five years, let alone ten years, and it wasn't worldwide. Peter, you first called Bitcoin a 'Tulipmana' in November of 2013, when it was under $1k in value. For over ten years now you have called this worldwide phenomenon a 'bubble'. Isn't that at least a little disingenuous?"

Not to mention the other half of my friends are alt coin degenerates. Granted I would say only about two of the friends in the group have a deep understanding of how cryptoeconomics work.

>And like folks before me said, most of us didn't have tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars and perfect timing to buy at the exact bottom and sell at the exact top. This run up, I misstimed. I sold but it went much higher. The first day I was like: No, I am not gonna buy back in. I will just wait. A week later I was screaming to my SO: WE MISSED OUT ON SO MUCH!!!!! Another week later and I could not take it anymore so I bought back in. Then it started crashing back to where I had sold. While the 2017 to 2021 run I made no such mistake. The entire run I was carefull, sold some on peaks, waited, bought back in. And towards 2022 I started selling everything. Then when it became clear that the bull was over I slowly liquidated everything. Waited almost a year, bought back in. So yeah, it's so super super super hard to time it all perfectly. Almost impossible. In 2017, I sold after the peak. Around 15000 or so. (BTC) and you think I bought back in at 3000? Bitcoin has been shilled by the Economist/TPTW as soon as 2015. The big boys have been on board long before the normies discovered Bitcoin/Ethereum during the ICO craze of 2017. Since the peak of 2017. Normies that bought at peak prices are up x2.5 in BTC and ETH in 7 years. Meanwhile inflation in that 7 years is almost 50% even in EU/US. SO make that x1.5 at best.

Uniswap has become a dinosaur… so many of the Up coming coins have insufficient liquidity… honestly it’s basically like a CEX now. a day… Even Broccoli is beast compared to uniswap with easy cross chain swaps, and SWAPR has like a dozen lists with over 10,000 coins… there is so many swap platforms that are trying to come up and will be doing things like what Uniswap did when they did an airdrop like 3-4 years ago.. Don’t get stuck on UNI even it’s name speaks so much truththat it leaves you in a trap, the loner UNI/ONE TRICKING SO MANY INTO THINKING THEY ARE THE ONE! Ultimately they suck compared to what’s out their now… branch out try things like BASESWAP, Broccoli, SWAPR… and that’s just the tip of an ice berth! 😎

There's still SO MUCH xrp on the market. I'm sorry but I'll say it, way too many people in these reddit subs have zero fundamental understanding at all. Green line does not always go up. In this case, green line literally has a ceiling and it will NEVER be the next BTC/ETH/whatever. There is literally so much of it available that it CAN NOT EVER hit the level of BTC.

Do you have a 4.0 API key or subscription ? We can upload .pdf’s there and do a comparison but ChatGPT is not specialised for writing analysis. Agencies such as the FBI and CIA have really good tools to analyse electronic writing and look for similarities. We could try something like IBM’s Watson, we have SO much text to compare. Watson should be able to accurately match a writing profile. Watson needs about 1.000 words for good accuracy, we have a lot more! This would only tell us if the texts were written by someone with the same writing profile (hundreds of writing profiles are distinguished). If Satoshi and Hada have the same writing profile according to Watson. When checking multiple papers vs the bitcoin blog posts from Satoshi.. I would consider this very strong evidence Hada is Satoshi. (If we compare > 1.000 words at least).

This. I recently sold one coin and bought my SO a car…a full EV. He didn’t know much about bit. He learned, and then felt guilty, and I had to explain: “In two months this might be $15k…or $115k, but every time we open the door for YEARS, that car is going to be there, and it’s going to please you, and it doesn’t burn gas. I have sold coin to secure my house, and to buy chemo, and I regret none of it. This is literally what money is -for-.” So get enough to feel secure, and then -Go Camping-. Put the phone down and turn off the ticker. Walk your dog. Go to an aquarium (they’re cooler than zoos). the problem with cold wallet is that most people when they decide to access them use that seed on their online system, comprosiming it. Afterwards, it's no longer a cold wallet even though they think it is. Cold wallet are not the way to go, hardware wallets are. Hardware walles offer plausable denialbility so your SO only steals your dummy wallet after you tell her the PIN so she stops nagging, or that police officer or TSA asshole. Or that robber that put a gun to your head. Or the RSI. Plausable deniability is the best thing ever. I am more bullish than you in this cycle. Me personally, I believe in it, if I had zero BTC there is no way I could completely stand on the sidelines for the entire cycle of the post 2024 halving. That would be SO damn hard. Even if you are right (at 150K top), you would have to sit there and watch it grind up to 150K for months with zero allocation to BTC in an asset that you believe in long term. It is very likely most people would fomo at least some portion of this at a higher price than 70K. We are already above previous ATH and are still a month away from the halving. If I had zero BTC today, and 300K, I'd probably go half now, and wait for pullbacks to invest the rest.

as long as you don't list it on an exchange you can add any value to the token yourself internally, SO a lot of rewards schemes allow you to exchange for an item, like getting stamps of your coffee loyalty card, but it sounds like yours is more like a supermarket version where you get points for a transaction and eventually you can exchange it for a product or actual cash. but it would be you thats giving them the cash or crypto directly. That way you have control of the value. As for the taking the picture and tagging, You could do that within the app and just detect that a picture has been taken and uploaded and check the tag is correct automatically. Then you could manually double check now and then to make sure they have actually taken a picture of your product. In iOS you can just get the current location and add it to the post or your database. Personally I would keep it away from any actual exchanges, The value could rise but it would be totally reliant on your customers trading the coin on the exchange which I doubt would happen if they are boomers (I am a boomer :) so I know what they are like with crypto). Also the value could easily drop to zero if there is no liquidity or trading volume. then the customers would be unable to trade it. t

man, just do your research on what a store of value actually is. This is not about who’s an expert or not on reddit. This is about education. Something SO VOLATILE CAN NOT BE A STORE OF VALUE. It is as simple as that. If it worked for you, that’s amazing! It doesn’t make it a store of value, STILL. As simple as that.

What I like about BCH is that I never have to sell. If I think the market is going down I just hedge direcly from my wallet using anyhedge smart contracts. SO I never have to trust an exchange, so the risk of my coins getting stolen is very low. (using a trezor T1). And then I can just spend my BCH instead of selling it, because fees are always around 1 cent! I can even use anyhedge to lock BCH in a smart contract and bet that BTC will keep going up, which still gives me access to the store of value narrative. Which has been very succesfull. So if BTC g oes up, my CA ends up with more BCH in it. It's the best of both worlds honestly. With LN, it's extremely complicated to run your own node. the subs like r/lightningnetwork are full of people complaining about this. The solution .... use a custodial wallet where you have to trust somebody else. But the whole idea of Bitcoin was to never have to trust anybody else but yourself. And so for me it's just BCH and nothing else. Call me a "Satoshi's idea Maximalist" or something. Cause if you are gonna trust somebody else with your sats, you might as well just use paypal ...

the market for comics is at a low at the moment. Comics that went for a $1000 two years ago are going for a lot less today, like 50 to 60 percent lower on some key issues or worse. SO its not a great time to sell.

Hindsight is 20/20. Bitcoin had SO MANY moments where it appeared to be doomed forever. I think the struggles it went through only made it stronger, and now that there are ETFs giving it legitimacy from the US Government, people are much more comfortable with this asset. While some people gasp at 10% change, 80% drops in value are no stranger to bitcoin. I think thankfully, hopefully those times are behind us now.

Great point. In the U.S. inflation isn't SO crazy (it's not good either) that crypto is entirely a life-savor. What really made me realize how important crypto is was looking at charts in other currencies. For example, BTC to Laotian Kip. When BTC was "down" compared to USD, it was making all time highs in Laos. Unfortunately many people may realize this too late... At least the first time.

Um traditional finance requires an incredible amount of knowledge as well. There are SO many scams and while I agree with crypto being scammy, people here obviously have no real knowledge of investing. Your standard sp500 fine or total market etfs are fine but think about the thousands of other products that are offered to you. Any options/leverage fund is a scam. Target date funds, commodities, sectors, all of those kinds of funds can absolutely screw any investor who doesn't know what they're doing.

It's a model that Bitcoin has followed SO FAR. If you plot the price on the y-axis logarithmically and plot the time from the origin block on the x-axis logarithmically, you get what is more or less a straight price channel. Assuming the price follows this trend, you can find good buy-in and exit points and predict the maximum and minimum btc prices at a given time. There is also no guarantee that btc will CONTINUE to follow this model.

This is my 3rd bull market. While I definitely wish I'd put more in during the lows, taking profits on the way up (in bull markets 2 and 3) has relieved SO much stress compared to bull 1. If something 2x from my entry I either take out the principle or set a stop loss at like 80% profit, then move it up as the market moves. I know I have to pay higher taxes by doing this but these markets can move against you so quickly that trying to stay in profit for 365 days can be very hard. My takeaway each bull has been "I wish I put more in when I was confident in the move". I have timed things correctly a few times but I was always too hesitant with my capital. This stuff is very hard psychologically. Regret is tough but hindsight is always 20/20. If you held back on a position for valid reasons, accept those reasons. It's better to have followed a plan and missed out than invested emotionally/irrationally and lost a bunch of money.

That's why its so important to get your crypto off exchanges etc. Even if you foresee something happening to the company in which you held your crypto with and withdraw the funds. They still have a 90 days window and if they go bankrupt within that 90days then you're likely in the crosshairs for a clawback and they can legally take what assets you have to do it. 2 scenarios. 1. Your asset appreciates in value which improves your LTV Ratio. In this scenario, you don’t need to pay off the loan, in fact you can keep borrowing. Because as long as your LTV is within the allowed range, you have access to money via loan. 2. Pay off the loan with borrowed funds as the asset appreciates. Example: You have 100k in bitcoin. You borrow $50k US dollars when bitcoin is at $10k market price. Btc appreciates to $70k market value. You just made a 7x gain. Your bitcoin stack is now worth $700k, but you still only owe $50k. You repay that $50k out of the appreciated bitcoin balance. So the big difference here is that when bitcoin was $10k market value, $50k is 5 bitcoins. But when bitcoins market value is $70k, your $50k loan is only 71% of a Bitcoin. SO YOU BORROWED 5 BITCOINS, AND PAID BACK .7143 OF A BITCOIN BECAUSE OF APPRECATION. FUCKING MAGIC!

Solana’s market cap is 6% of bitcoin’s and it isn’t even arguably decentralized. Completely irrelevant - in the same way GameStop hype is irrelevant to bitcoin. Technically, L1 scaling is just not sustainable for a decentralized currency. Solana shutdowns are a common occurrence and I have no doubt it would be gone in an instant if the US gov decided it should be. There is a reason every major project that cares at all about decentralization has opted for L2 scaling. The only reasons projects like LTC and BCH can claim low fees and choose to not focus on L2 scaling is because they have low demand (because they aren’t Bitcoin - or eth). Not that BCH is very decentralized either, but over the course of decades it would become significantly worse if BCH were actually being used to a point where upward fee pressure is a constant reality. There are SO many conversations about this on the internet from the time of the block size wars. This should be considered a closed topic unless you don’t care about security/decentralization in the long term.

Yeah DCA is proven to be a good investment strategy,  but sometimes it's a rough road , my SO invested 400  a week into Amazon stock and she was down like 30%+ of what Sue put in over a 5 year period , it seems like she could have made way better returns having never touched the stock market , could have started a business with that money.  Now she is stuck waiting to break even,  or even worse she might lose more money as the years go by , does it really matter if she is up 20% overall if it takes 15 years lol Sometimes we mistake luck with skill ya know , I assure you that is very true with the crypto space.

Corporations don't get massive tax cuts and breaks that help cause that inflation? Howd corporations get so much influence to cause all this corruption for thier own benefit? Just a massive coincidence, right? No corporate lobbying, no bribes or buying out reprsentatives. I would scape the economics of that kind of lobbying bribing/regulatory capture. If a corporation is doing it, I'm not gonna treat it like a sacred cow free of criticism. The same corporations who's stock growth has happened immensely thanks to all that money printing? SO we can't blame the main beneficiaries of all that bribery/inflation/corruption. So your golden calf on this topic, is don't follow money, don't pay attention to the billionaire class or corporations that got massively wealthy off those large print offs of money and debt, that is one of the stupidest ideas ive ever heard.

If you want to understand the whole "value" aspect of Bitcoin vs USD (or any other fiat), consider instead the phrase "purchasing power" meaning "how much 'stuff' a unit of currency can purchase" Here's an example: In 2010, someone paid 10,000 Bitcoin for a pizza. Let's say the pizza cost $5 USD. 10,000 Bitcoin is 1,000,000,000,000 sats. Today, March 11, 2024, a pizza in the US might cost you $10 USD or 13,830 sats. Bitcoin was inflation resistant in this case because even though the pizza increased in price by 200% when priced in USD, the price in Bitcoin is about 0.000001383% of what it was in 2010. SO - holding Bitcoin means that, year by year, however much Bitcoin you have will be able to purchase MORE than the year before (on average). Even though inflation is happening in USD terms, we see DEFLATION in terms of Bitcoin.

Question/Critique is quite long and not entirely coherent in aspect or relevant issues for discussion, but for the sake of the argument and other who might have similar question and doubts will try to distill in short answers for each point. First the Premise that BTC in the long run would be Net Negative to society is not founded. At max it is subjective opinion. One could debate options if it succeeds or fails from perspective to invest or not, and keep ethical frame out of it. Of course many would argue that it is Net Beneficial so it that case there is a moral imperative to adopt it. I. Cyclical bubbles 1. and 2. Most investment asset have cycles where some loses and some gains. Those who gamble are ready to lose. Still there is DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging), an excellent strategy, for the prudent ones, to ensure not to lose in long run, the same for successfully used on say Index Funds in the last few decades. So don't trade and gamble but instead be patient and stack sats for the next decade. 3. Money in principle should not dictate economy ever. It is only a tool for price signaling (capital misprice). Additionally when it does it only distorts the market and breaks the incentives that leads to misallocation of investments. And in the long term all fiat currency have ended with very high or hyper inflation leading to war, or destruction of economy, and/or many poor people (shown by the history since roman period). Also Bitcoin in the long term is a tool for savings, investment is another category that would still normally exist (of course investment have higher gains but also risks) Today with high currency devaluation people are striped of options to save, without losing value, before investing. II 1. Bitcoin has high chance of becoming World RESERVE Currency (emphasis on Reserve). But much lower chance of replacing all local currencies. And this is a good this. USD outside of US, is steeling resources from other countries by creating inflation that they drops on entire world (most counties hold some % reserves). It also fuels unjustified wars #PetroDollar (Irak, Libya, ..) So developed countries would probably keep their local currency for domestic consumptions but would be forces to keep inflation low since BTC would be on their neck. And any county that makes high or hyper inflation would self-destruct its currency with no ability to go back since people would switch to better one on their disposal. Like in Argentine today most people hold dollars. SO for example Denmark CB would have Bitcoin reserves and people would also have some savings in BTC but it could still keep Danish Krone that would have maybe 1% yearly monetary inflation (essentially keeping price stable in that currency in domestic market) - Even if some countries to go Full BTC Standard economy can function normally with fixed money supply, and prices would in average go down few every few years , for those goods that would higher efficiency (marginal cost of production). These could probably be some small countries that already uses foreign currency like dollars or euros, or have fixed exchange ration with currency board, or have bad currency with hyperinflation, so from them switch is easy and has only up sides since they already don't have monetary sovereignty but do pay for $ inflation while don't have any benefits from it. 2. Saving and Investment should not be commingles together. 3. Loans would have more realistic, market based rate, instead of today 0% that leads to artificial bubbles of stocks and real-estates. Non-artificial booms and busts would be much smaller. III 1. Environmental issues are mostly not an issue at all. Electricity consumed is justified with the service its provider, one could say it is pretty cheap. Also incentives are to consumes cheapest energy that is mostly stranded, green (can help funding solar in Africa for example), then there is methane burning that is much better then releasing it in the air. Also grid balancing in peak times. Much more useful use cases. 2. That is not how real life works, eventually there would equilibrium between savings and spendings, nobody lives forever. Overconsumption and consumerism of trash that gets thrown fast is actually bad for the ecology and sustainability and should be changed regardless of costs. Long term mind set and low time preference is much better. 3. Bit culture, noisy ones are minority that like jokes. Most silent ones are in the mood: work, earn, spend some, save some (stack sats) that would be spend in future when you want and need. Bitcoiners do not want lambo, they want a car that can drive half a million of km/miles without breaking.
