DO NOT GENERATE ANY SEEDS ONLINE. Only OFFLINE and keep them offline.
Your "uncle" downloaded a fake Ledger Live. And when you buy a Ledger, it specifically says "DON"T PUT YOUR SEEDPHRASE ANYWHERE ONLINE". Why is this so hard to understand? Wave your crypto goodbye - you can't reverse the blockchain.
p.s. He should be old enough to remember before the internet and how people said "it's not real, no one will ever shop, or watch movies or do anything of importance online...people will always want to touch it and hold it and smell it first...and who is gonna trust some faceless website with their money...ONLINE!?"

Crypto was designed to be for responsible adults, and is meant to be the opposite to someone else being the caretaker of your wealth. When you entrust it with someone else, then technically it's not yours. And this goes against the decentralised ethos. But sure, for small amounts, on different exchanges, it's a pretty low risk. But when your funds grow then you'll find yourself considering a hardware wallet. But when you do, get one direct from the manufacturer. With a hardware wallet, set a 6 to 8 digit PIN on it. Write down your 24 key words on pieces of paper using non-fading ink. But put the first 12 words on 1 piece of paper and a copy of them in something like an online passord app, like 1Password or Lastpass. Also put those same first half of seed words in a sealed envelope and give to your lawyer for your Will. Then make multiple copies of the second half of 12 words. Give them to trusted family members and friends, especially in different cities if you can. But before you give out the second halfs of your keys, do the following... Transfer a small amount of crypto to your new wallet. Then, reset your hardware wallet, so that it is blank. Yep, delete it from the hardware device. Then restore it using all 24 key words that you'd written down. Then check that the crypto you deposited is actually there. This is good for a few reasons. Not only does it prove to yourself that you'd written down the 24 seed words correctly. But it gives you confidence of knowing that you can restore your wallet to a new/blank hardware wallet, should you lose or break your original. Note, that for those ppl that say you should never store your seed words online, nor give others your seed words, I agree. But no one is ever going to get into your wallet with only half of your 24 word seed phrase. Because even just 12 key words gives 2048^12 possibilities. I'd also recommend putting the copies of the second half of the keywords (the one younwill give to family/friends) in sealed envelopes with your name on them and the date you set up the wallet. The date helps distinguish between different lots of seed phrases, for when you have more than one hardware wallet. I know that this method won't be for everyone, and that there are other clever ways (some very expensive or time consuming) but this way works well and is very safe, if done properly. (I'm always curious and open to feedback and ideas on what othere here do with their keywords) NEVER TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR KEYWORDS, NOR STORE THE ENTIRE SET OF KEY WORDS ONLINE OR IN ONE PHYSICAL LOCATION.
#1 Cold storage (Not your keys not your cheese)… #2 DO NOT EVER TYPE YOUR SEED PHRASE ONLINE… #3 Don’t talk about your holdings (You never know peoples intentions)… other than that.. Relax and enjoy the ride 😎
Buy hardware wallet, have the mnemonic passphrase written down on a piece of paper, have a copy of that too stored in two different places. DO NOT KEEP YOUR MNEMONIC PHRASE STORED ON PHONE OR ONLINE Overtime you will most likely get hacked.
Too long, too many "restart without blah blah blah." 1. Boot up your offline laptop. 2. Create two Electrum wallets, one for your new "seed phrase" wallet, and one for "import addresses or keys". 3. Type your private key in WIF format into the key-based wallet. 4. Pick a destination address from your seed-phrase-based wallet. 5. Using a SEPARATE ONLINE COMPUTER, create an online watching-only "import addresses or keys" wallet. 6. Enter the ADDRESS (NOT the private key) into the ONLINE COMPUTER WALLET. 7. Generate a transaction in the key-based wallet telling it to send the full amount, minus whatever mining fee you choose, to the destination address. 8. Save the unsigned transaction to a flash drive. 9. Move the flash drive to your offline computer. 10. Sign the transaction using your key-based wallet, and save the signed transaction back to the flash drive. 11. Move the flash drive back to the ONLINE COMPUTER, load the signed transaction, and send it to the network.
Easy you take your phase and encrypt it. The output is the result of your cypher with your seed phrase. By using your cypher you can decrypt it. Warning: DO NOT PUT YOUR SEED PHRASE ANYWHERE ONLINE Here's an online example of how simple encryption works https://cryptii.com/pipes/caesar-cipher
What? This opens you up to both the company screwing you AND your keys getting stoling because they are ONLINE. Seems worse than an exchange?
Before you buy you need to decide on how you are going to manage it. * From whom are you going to buy? And why? * How are you going to store it securely? What hardware wallet do you want to use? Do you want to run a multi-sig setup or not? Why? * How are you going to store your seed phrase? Do you have a good memory? Do you have family that you'd leave it to in the event of your death? * Do you want to lump sum and drop 35k all at once or do you want to DCA smaller amounts? * Are you buying for yourself, your posterity, or both? * Why bitcoin? Why not gold, silver, stocks, bonds, etc? There is a lot to know and unfortunately finding all of the answers in one place in an easily understood format isn't really possible. At a bare minimum IMO, you need the following: 1. Education. This is THE most important aspect of the entire journey you are embarking on. Learn about the history of monetary systems, how/why they changed, and then learn how/why bitcoin came into existence. You need to completely change your perception of economics in order to properly understand and respect what bitcoin is and what it could be one day. Bitcoin University on YouTube is a good place to start for beginners IMO. ([https://www.youtube.com/@Bitcoin\_University](https://www.youtube.com/@Bitcoin_University)) The videos are usually \~10 minutes long and are presented in an easily understood way. Once you get your feet wet, you need to read the whitepaper. ([https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-paper](https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-paper)) Then check out any number of the bitcoin and fiat books out there. There are lots of people here who have lots of reading suggestions, I am sure. 2. A good exchange to purchase your bitcoin from. I personally use Strike for a number of reasons, but there are other very good companies out there you can get it from. 3. A hardware wallet to send larger amounts of bitcoin to. This is NOT optional when you're talking about owning a whole coin, so don't even ask if you can forego this part, because in my mind it's a fundamental law of nature. 4. Along with the wallet you will have a seed phrase that is generated, so you will need a method to store it. This is essentially your key to your bitcoin and if you forget the phrase or the paper or titanium it's on, you've essentially lost everything. **IMPORTANT!!! NEVER EVER TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR SEED PHRASE! NEVER UPLOAD IT OR SHARE IT WITH ANYONE ONLINE!** Your best bet IMO is a titanium seed phrase plate.
Its not easy to make mistakes when you follow few rules, use commons sense and take things slow. Never have your keys or anything related to it online or in any device that could get online at any point in its life. If something sounds too good to be true, its scam. Then just learn to use wallet: write seedwords to paper, make 25th word passphrase if u want extra security, send tiny amount of btc to wallet, reset your wallet, restore it and try if you still have access to your wallet, stamp seedwords to steel, maybe make multiple copies of them and hide them in different cities/countries. NEVER INPUT YOUR WORDS ONLINE OR TAKE PICTURE OF IT It sounds complicated first but after 1-2h of learning how to use it its safe and easy as long as you dont start doing stupid stuff outside of that.
Once again folks; DO NOT USE ONLINE PASSWORD MANAGERS. Use an airgapped password manager and derive your own system for individually entering passwords on the device when you need them. Organize your devices so that your accounts are whitelisted so that you don't have to enter passwords every 5 minutes. A good way to do this is to set up every account you can with a hardware security key like a Yubikey (FIDO2). If you can't, TOTP 2FA is a still good method. Take a few days out of your schedule to overhaul all of your passwords. It will save you headaches in the long run.
This is how i will reinvest my profits for the perfect from hero to zero strategy: BTC-THC-ALGO-ELONSPERMINU-ONLINE\_CASINO(if there is something left)
Password managers not only are recommended for security reasons, they are a must to set up different emails and randomized passwords for every single one of your accounts. BUT! **They must be OFFLINE**! Please, never ever use a password manager that saves your credentials ONLINE or you will always face the risk of them either maliciously accesing it or encountering data breachs. You can move the database of these offline password managers to any other devices you own/want, be it hard disks, usb sticks and so on.
Nothing against you OP, marvelous write up very informative and all around a knowledgeable post. Im just tired of seeing the FUD over RCPs, Reddits not going to kill THE LARGEST CRYPTO COMMUNITY ONLINE IN THE WORLD’s token, it simply doesn’t make sense. Reddit wants this to be *the* crypto group and taking away the BACKBONE of the sub which would remove governance it would remove proposals and Moon week discussions, I just have the hardest time believing that they’re going to torch a sub with just about 6.7 million members 🤷🏻♂️
Totally agree. Community tokens are awesome - active sub member can claim them for free and if there is some good marketing it can be listed on big exchanges (@COINBASE MOONS ARE ONLINE)
69k ONLINE is this reality?
OP FOUND THE IMAGE ONLINE 4 MONTHS AGO CHECK THEIR POSTS.... What is your opinion about people wearing ostentatious items about Bitcoin? Do you think it's dumb or brave? My personal opinion is that it should remain hidden as much as possible to avoid robbery or worse.
It’s just organizing 60+ science papers on real science journals… I’ll link one directly. Way to be an idiot. You know all science journals are online now and most of the leading research is found ONLINE. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0013935118300355?via%3Dihub
\>He explained how he dressed up to fit in with the young crypto gurus: "I started to wear baseball caps with crazy logos and cool Adidas running shoes to start looking like a kid because the industry is dominated by kids. I met kids who started at 18 and were billionaires by 19 or 20." What? That doesn't make any sense. Why would someone dress up to enter an ONLINE community and participate in crypto sites? lmao.
