Vector Space Biosciences, I've written about it on my profile it's pinned. Using horizonal models are not useful for scientists to make discoveries in the context of biology which is why BARD, chatGPT are useless. Vertical, specific language models are required, which this company has specialized in before Google had any concept of language models, back when the founder was contracted by the DOD, CIA and other 3 letter agencies to use his proprietary language models in the context of War, the founder parted ways due to the nature of the work and another took over his work which is now known as Palantir. Biology is hardz space biology is harder. There are no public companies that specialize in Space Biosciences, the biggest elephant in the room in space travel. VSB is the first company with public market exposure with both utility token and Equity.

If Satoshi was conscripted into a government agency at or around the time of Bitcoin's origin, like the NSA or DOD, it may be the case that Satoshi's stack belongs to the US government. The fact that Satoshi maintained perfect anonymity and never once needed to move any coins for any number of problems that people tend to have which require money to solve lends at least a bit of support to this possibility. I'm not saying that the US gov. knew what was going to happen exactly, but perhaps someone smart and important recognized what Bitcoin could become. It sure would be helpful for one nation to have a million BTC in the vault, since every nation is dealing with the same house of cards that fiat is.

No, that's not what I'm saying. It's not a binary choice for anyone but the parties involved. You don't need to go bat for the SEC just because you don't trust an exchange. There are a ton of issues that have two distinct sides at odds with each other that involve two parties acting out of different theories of malice. Just because you don't like one doesn't mean you must necessarily support the other and go all in. Just because I hate fascism doesn't mean I'm running over to join the communists if this was Weimar Germany and 100 years ago. You can watch Aliens v. Predator and not find affinity with either - the tagline is "whoever wins we lose", after all. Just because the SEC is calling someone out does not make them any more virtuous of an institution, they just happen to take a position that outwardly align with your interests for a hot second. I haven't used an exchange since Binance closed access - but not the existence - of my account in a manner that is both illegal and creates a civil claim. At this point the exchange have stolen easily low to mid six digits in terms of dollars from me. Am I pissed off about Binance? Of course. But the DOJ is no more about justice or my property or my rights, having spent the better part of a decade in practice defending clients against them. I know full well that I'm not getting my money back. Likewise, the SEC is not here to help you, me, or anyone else. It's an institution and consituency onto itself that jealously guards their own rights and authorities. Their regulations are made for the benefit of the agency and the agency's authority. Unless you are a part of that constituency, do you really believe that somehow they are acting out of the goodness of their heart when they've continuously acted in a manner that not just bends but deliberately misinterprets laws that set and constrain their power in order to exercise more of it? Institutions are first and foremost seeking to preserve their own power and to benefit those who they consider among the in-group. They are not altruistic, and they don't disestablish when they no longer serve the purpose outlined in their mandate. They regulate in their own image, not yours. Feel free to read the responses to concerns raised by stakeholders for notice and commentary for just about any agency on regulations.gov and you will quickly find that one can comment, but agencies don't have any obligation to actually take those comments into consideration in making their decisions and sometimes offer contradictory ways to dismiss concerns raised. They are no more accountable than those they seek to regulate. And I guess I need to explain what I thought was obvious: administrative law practitioners are not complaining about their specific cases in public, nobody does, but they do complain about gratuitous, unreasonable, and generally shitty practices that are also not subject to judicial review. i worked mostly against DHS but guys who worked against the SEC had some of the exact same issues, just without the guns and outright violence associated with DHS. The SEC operates in a manner that keeps its authority as broad as possible and also, for a non-national-security agency, FOIA requests to the SEC have long been known to be akin to pulling teeth, which makes a mockery of transparency for an agency that purports to protect investors because it begs the question "how" and then stonewalls for reasons that are never made clear. Lawyers are okay with losing to a certain extent but when decisions and made and enforced in a manner that fails to explain the rationale and basis or offers plainly unreasonable or ridiculous rationale, that's when they complain, and in the statutory realm one frequently sees the pretzel-like rationale offered by prosecution or the bench but in admin law, the problem is frequently stonewalling followed by 'because we said so' or its equivalent. The SEC is generally subject to the APA like all federal agencies except the independence of its Inspector General, who is not chosen independently by the president but instead, selected internally. This means that there's no process of senate confirmation (although that has been made a farce by the last admin anyway, it wasn't always that way, but the SEC had never been subject to any checks on its self-policing efforts). This effectively creates the problem where there's no real accountability as to the proper use of its discretionary enforcement powers and when they look the other way. DHS probably is the most notorious agency in terms of engaging in outrageous conduct, and the DoD is also well known for lack of candor and transparency when it comes to contracting and such, but the SEC amongst all agencies that don't have its own private army is likely the agency that offers up the least amount of transparency, scrutiny, or explanation as to why and how they reach their conclusions and conduct their investigations. Since DHS and DOD aren't subject to capture - they work with but do not regulate entire industries - while the SEC is subject to capture and does regulate industries, regulatory capture is not merely a concern but [there are plenty of reports](https://www.pogo.org/investigations/captured-financial-regulator-at-risk) that [more or less point to exactly that](https://academicworks.cuny.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=5353&context=gc_etds). And one really should be asking, as I'm sure crypto exchanges have been asking, if the SEC enforcement actions are actually meant to protect investors, or simply a result of the crypto industry, being relatively new and decentralized compared to banking and accounting, simply haven't lobbied enough, in which case there would be plenty of money for that to be set aside. Either way, while no agency should be given blind faith, and the SEC certainly is not anywhere close to the level of depraved corruption that DHS and its subagencies have devolved into or, as I worked against them during both the Obama and Trump admins, have existed in, you or anyone else should absolutely not take the SEC's word at face value. After all, they haven't been able to protect investors at so many junctures in recent history and there remains so much ambiguity in their practices that I don't think they deserve the benefit of the doubt at this point as a good faith actor. Why should you?

There are around 750+ billionaires in America alone, so to my mind it seems *more likely* that it was a cabal of those people who developed it as a failsafe for their digital wealth ie a decentralised dollar that they can control. The NSA thing is improbable, but certainly not outside the realm of possibility. The Internet, Tor, digital encryption etc were all developed in part by the DOD etc so again it's not exactly conspiratorial thinking if it's based on observable history and established fact. I'd love to find out if it's true one way or another, cos it's a fascinating idea, regardless of the actual truth! :)

>How is the government of a capitalist state offering welfare programs the same as the means of production being publicly owned? "offering welfare programs" - full stop right there, lol. Come on... welfare programs and capitalism do not coincide. You don't get to claim capitalism in social/welfare programs >I already kind of explained why the healthcare reform was capitalist. It was a policy designed to get people to purchase health insurance by providing subsidies and instituting penalties. "providing subsidies" - subsidies come straight from the taxpayer. Subsidies aren't backed by any sort of labor. "instituting penalties" - government overstep and penalizing a private business is in no way shape or form a mark of a "unregulated capitalist market" >The healthcare providers and the insurance providers were still owned by private entities and they operated on a market, which are the hallmarks of capitalism. Forcing the hand of a "private business" is NOT capitalistic. Forcing small insurance companies to pay more to support clients is 1) a social program and 2) killed multiple small insurance businesses further driving the divide between big insurance companies and small ones. Absolutely KILLED small insurance businesses. >If the government set up its own insurance company, you could maybe argue that it could be considered socialist in some regards, Medicare, Medicaid, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), the Department of Defense TRICARE and TRICARE for Life programs (DOD TRICARE), the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) program, and the Indian Health Service (IHS) program - then there was forcing the hand via the "Affordable Care Act" killing small businesses, forcing insurance companies to increase insurance cost, and further increasing the gap between rich and poor. >but pretty much all technology that has ever existed was developed by the government and handed over to companies to commercialize, so if that doesn't count as socialism, why is the healthcare reform any different? Government funding comes from either 1) loans the gov forces from private businesses or 2) through taxpayers. And to be clear - a capitalist society is not anarchy. Government does exist, but they are checked. I can tell you my invention was only funded by private investors, but on the whole, during my phd work, I was also funded by the government. As polar as my stance may seem, I do find good inside of moderation (to an extent). If government had any sort of monetary honesty with its spending, we wouldn't be talking about government funding being in any way related to social programs. Governments wisely spending tax dollars is not a bad thing. >so if that doesn't count as socialism, why is the healthcare reform any different? Government absolutely makes money off the patents they own for the technology they have advanced. Royalties are paid directly to the US gov in their patents that span so many sectors. But that doesn't mean "okay so we funded this work, now let's push things even further toward social programs". No, in fact if the gov had any sort of restraint, any funding they have been a part of should not force the federal reserve to turn on the money printers. >Is Elon Musk a socialist because he relies on government infrastructure and incentives programs? What about Elon Musk? He's going to take advantage of whatever system he's in. Why wouldn't he. Doesn't make me like him anymore - can't stand the dude. But why wouldn't he optimize his parameters? >How about Bezos? Are there any capitalists who don't fit your definition of socialist? Same as Elon. Telling me bilionaires take advantage of SOCIAL PROGRAMS does not build your case. Labeling billionaires as capitalists is your perogative, not their description. And I don't blame them for optimizing.

In order for the SEC to enforce a space as rife with scams as crypto they'd need a budget as big as the DOD. /s Obviously hyperbole, but it gets to my point. Crypto as a sector (a) is too small and insignificant, (b) has too scams, and (c) is filled with people screaming for the SEC to stay away for the SEC to devote significant resources. Quite simply, it's not worth it because a small number of cryptobros make it their personal calling to make the SEC's job as hard as possible. The US economy is measured in the tens of trillions of dollars. Crypto **as a whole worldwide** is not even $2 trillion. Internet governance is a real thing. DOD issues grants pays contractors and funds way more than you are aware. I made powdered milk for the DOD for 7 years. I'm done with your micro view on this. I honestly don't think you have any clue how anything works on a bigger picture based on these arguments. Wikipedia asks for donations to lobby against the FCC internet censorship every year. If the government had no control over the internet how could the FCC censor anything on the Internet? These voluntary autonomous networks would just circumvent their authority. Just think of the power alotted to who ever would control these networks if they weren't fully governed. I wish the world was as inoccent as you think it is.

Osi was never meant to compete with the internet, and tcp/ip is not a language. The internet wasn't even made for financial gains. That didnt happen until the .com boom in the 90's under Clinton. Plus all of the profits went to companies using the Internet, not some Internet board. The DOD financed and maintains the basic infrastructures. These statements are very far from accurate. Networks communicate through routers on the Internet, they don't communicate directly to each other. I would also like to add data transfer is the only reason networks exist and they were all developed with intent to link up in some way shape or form. OSI is theory and TCP/IP is the practical usage.

Constellation network $DAG. Easily the most innovative DLT to come out with imo the best match of business + technology. Partnerships with big players like DOD, AWS, Foursquare as well a plethora of diverse projects in advertising, crowdfunding, healthcare data, pooled predictions, social media, and so much more.

If secretive DOD or CIA aircrafts are spotted around known US bases don't you think it helps them if people think its UFOs. I can't believe that if aliens could figure interstellar travel they would chose to hide from us or allow us to capture thier ships. The odds of them being able to do that and for us to both exist in the same time is as big stretch imo.

It's not just war in Ukraine. War in Ukraine caused other Russian border states to ramp up defense spending. Moldova said they are worried. Finland going into EU so we'll probably see some defense movement there If I remember correctly Biden Administration did some military operations in Africa. So DOD is going to be feastin As for student loan forgiveness. Ain't no way they are forgiving $2 Trillion in one go. Although they have been forgiving students for military members who went to for profit university who were/are preying in veterans. Maybe if we are lucky we get $5k loan forgiveness for everyone as a tease or taste

As a developer, I can tell you more about what makes cardano superior. While ethereum (what I assume you’re comparing with) does have a head start with a much larger ecosystem, cardano is rapidly growing. With groundbreaking technology, better always wins. You have the old, patchwork mess with complicated smart contracts that have very unpredictable behavior (due to their massive scope), and then the extended UTxO (eUTxO) model which solves that problem by limiting scope to only the necessary uTxOs. This limitation makes defi much safer and more appealing for financial institutions while maintaining the essence of a blockchain. Cardano is basically a smart contract enabled Bitcoin that runs on proof of stake. While layer 2 solutions are great, you eventually have to sync with layer 1. And layer 1 cardano is a great deal more advanced because of its eUTxO model. That means delegating (stake with no lockup period), multiple addresses within the same wallet (better asset management), multipoint interaction within the same transaction (scalable), the list is long and I cannot begin to cover it all. Let’s not forget that Cardano was also built on a bulletproof language used by bankers and the DOD. Beyond that, I have doubts that ETH 2.0 will be stable. It’s only a matter of time before massive institutions catch on. Cardano is the most advanced blockchain currently operating.

So that’s what most people don’t get. While Cardano runs on Haskell, there’s plenty of onboarding for JavaScript developers. Haskell is a much more predictable, and thus safer language to run a blockchain on. It is the security standard, which is why bankers and the DOD use it. Take from that what you will, but I put my money on a chain that is currently the most well rounded. Smart contracts, sub minute transaction speeds, low fees, high decentralization, a great community, 100% uptime, and most importantly nerds. That’s an investment worth marrying.

Using Blockchain contracts to run complex workflows and optimize internal processes removes alot of manual work. It's faster and cheaper in pretty much every sector. As for security it's secure enough for the US DOD.

TBH it’s kind of comical to read a doom and gloom thread about a “fiat” crypto token vs. a government fiat. I think one could safely say both are backed by “faith” and nothing else. USD is only backed by the DOD, Tether just lacks their own military. IMO.

Not so much survival but been smart and keeping your head down.

Congrats! We will now pave the way for the government to tax unrealized gains from everyone (cause that's where the real money is) and all we get as a result is less than what the DOD wants this year as an increase!

I understand it indepthed because we're building proof of ownership for various organisations. Many governmental organisations. DMV, DOJ, DOD. And believe me, its not just an Authoritive token pointing to a digital asset. Real life use cases for nfts are much more than an 8bit gif. So yeah, I guess I don't know what I'm talking about

You do understand DOD contracts are in the $300M range? That's basically pocket change. The Pentagon greenlight $60M for arms back in August. If I remember it right. They should probably just save their money.

I mean there were plenty of established players saying the internet was a fad but I would still say the most significant early innovations came out of the US. I think as more access & better access increased in the last 10 years, Asia has exploded. As far as Bitcoin, the US is definitely taking a back seat with other countries even trying to advertise themselves as a haven for startups etc. It’s not uncommon to come across a service that will track IPs and refuse service to those out of the US because they don’t want to get involved with US regulations or become a target if the US decides they don’t like that type of activity. Definitely innovating on the investigative side though, Chainalysis is doing pretty well securing those government DOD contracts.

To be honest, there isn't an agreed date for when the internet began. People have different ideas about when the internet started. Some point to HTML and Tim Berners-Lee others like I said, the 1960s and the work DOD did. Everyone has different opinions? Still, something vaguely recognisable as the internet we use today would be about early-mid 90s though. It's a shock if you could see mid 1990's web pages today :)

You're creating a strawman argument. I was one of those tech savy people that did care. That's exactly my point. I saw the problems, I cared. No one else did. In this sense, we're on the same side. In the early 90's (when there was no Runescape or streaming baseball) there were loads and loads of people saying "there is radio / tv / telephones / internet doesn't do anything / solve anything /why do we need it / it failed at communicating / no one even has computers etc" when it first came about (I'm talking early 90s) and look at us now. This is exactly where we are with NFTs. The problem it is solving is digital provenance and scarcity. You may not see it as solving anything for you right now, but things evolve and develop, so apply your logical argument of ARPANET/TCP/IP to blockchain / NFTs. Internet (for you) went from being a global grid of computers setup by the DOD to playing Runescape with your buddies, well beyond the original scope of the problem it was seeking to solve....where do you think blockchain and NFTs will go?

Except they aren't. The DOD contract that got awarded to the company that made all the hearing protection that has been getting sued for years over hearing loss. Sold to...the lowest bidder. I used that hearing protection. There's literally hundreds of awful contracts that have been handed out ending in disastrous ways.

Just for an example, The DOD awarded a contract to a construction company to build a military base In Afghanistan. Again to "the lowest bidder" the company didn't pay ANY of the workers and fled the country with 2million. DOD contracts are kind of a running joke with us ex military folks. Is all I'm saying.

Don't get anything I said twisted, I think it's great they are making moves twords block chain. All I'm saying is, literally ANYONE can log into their public forum and place bids on DOD contracts. They goto the lowest bidder. Period. This isn't like life changing news, and considering the price of DAG hasn't moved a cent since the announcement I can't be far off.

No where in that white house article do they mention DAG or the constellation network. Yes they have the DOD contract, but in no way does that mean it's "the United States as a whole" thats just the Department of defense. And being ex military let me educate everyone on how those contracts are "awarded" They go to the lowest bidder, the cheapest.

I'll just leave this quote here, pretty much summarizes my feelings on US politicians talking about energy consumption of bitcoin... >The DOD is the single largest consumer of energy in the US, and in fact, the world's single largest institutional consumer of petroleum. Since 2001, the DOD has consistently consumed between 77 and 80 percent of all US government energy consumption.

I dunno. Most people DO NOT do it. Like 90% of "investors/traders" diversify or even over diversify and funds/institutions are required to crazy over diversify. Something like required to have 5% in every sector and not more than 5% in any one stock. So ask yourself. Follow the crowd? Or follow the billionaires? A market that is $1 trillion going to zero is unheard of. Massive infrastructure exists to work with it etc. It is doubtfully a bubble at this point. It's one thing if people on robinhood buy stock in a virtually non existent company. But at this point entities are building powerplants to mine bitcoin. And what people overlook is all that HASH power is a weapon that the US DOD can use to bruteforce almost anything. The fact that China gave it up shows how fycking stupid China is

There is a lot of people saying that it is a waste of time. I disagree. Getting an education is never a bad idea. You don’t have to focus on blockchain alone. If you learn to code there are a ton of IT jobs out there that are remote and pay really well. That would be a good start. You can always work on a blockchain side project or potentially get a job in blockchain tech. Also if you are working for DOD and they won’t pay for your college then go somewhere like Boeing who will pay for your college. You will most likely make the same money and do a similar job but you won’t have to pay for your college courses.
