I don't typically branch out into new DEXs and don't like interacting with smart contracts for security reasons but in this case I have to. What can you do to make sure you're connected to the real site when you've never even used it before? I'm pretty sure I'm looking at the correct Hydra DX website, app.hydradx.io, but don't know how to confirm without asking you all. How would I do this for myself in the future? The safest way would be setting up a new wallet, sending what you want to trade to it and then connect to the DEX or smart contract but it also seems excessive. It's what I do if the assets are in my hardware wallet and I guess I could do it for basically everything. I'm guessing there's a better way.

I honestly think crypto is still in “beta” right now and most chains kind of suck outside of basically gambling use cases. If people weren’t expecting to make more money than they were putting into these things they would never use them. The DX/UX is cumbersome and it’s too expensive to use unless you are gambling on massive returns. Even just for transferring money I typically just look up what is currently the cheapest fee because other than that the UX is pretty much the same. I have been wanting to make decentralized games for over ten years now and I try almost every major chain that promises this and they are all awful so far. Even if they start out ok they get popular and the fees become too high and all the developers retire or move to gambling type stuff and SDK development stagnates. It’s very disappointing. I think Ethereum has the most mature development environments and any EVM compatible L2 is as good as any other if you want to just learn some smart contract dev and play around, but it’s by far the most mature and it still really sucks IMO. And if you want to actually deploy your app and test things out in mainnet you are paying an arm and a leg.

Cardano is hyped up by some influencers in US, but I don’t get it either. Solana’s differentiator seems to be low gas fees, scaling and great DX (and DX should not be underestimated as that’s what gets you actual apps) while Cardano basically positions itself as a somewhat better version of Ethereum on paper. Personally, I think it’s a weak sell, but I have only a surface level understand of both projects.

Interesting. I'm also a dev, so thanks for the perspective. I disagree on the Solidity front, but that's just personal opinion. In general a I hate spending time learning bespoke solutions; you can do a million things with Rust, but you can only do ETH stuff with Solidity. Not commentary on the language itself because I've looked into it and I think it is nice enough, but that's another draw to Solana for me. I'd almost always rather be doing work I can brag about on a resume, and Rust looks good. Again though, I'd believe it if you told me that Solidity might be a better tool for these jobs. Also, I fucking love Haskell, but I agree with you on the ADA commentary. I have a special interest in DX and tooling, so I love chatting this stuff.

I disagree on, the DX, but that can also be a matter of opinion. In my opinion choosing Rust the way they did was a really smart move and is relatively future proof. Rust has been voted Stack Overflows favorite language for many years in a row now, so I think picking the most popular language is an attractive thing for Devs. I'm not familiar with EVMs tooling, so I can't speak to that and I never claimed Solanas DX to be the best, but in general I think it's very good. As for the uptime, I don't love it either. But no chain has 100% uptime, not even Bitcoin. Even AWS only promises 95%+ uptime for a lot of their services, and they move billions of dollars of ecommerce for Fortune 500 companies every single day. I don't think a few outages in SOLs past that are being worked on / already fixed will deter any serious investors. Who knows what will happen, but for the sake of your 200 and my (significantly less) SOL, let's hope you're wrong!

it's an interesting model but it lacks the security of a system based on a non sovereign chain, like ethereum. The upside is you don't have to pay the main chain (like eth) transaction fees. On the whole I don't think it's a better model than ETH, but the technology aspect is very interesting at least. Really using it depends on whether you value soverignty. There's a very good discussion about ATOM V ETH if you look up the recent DY/DX shift

Even as an ETH maxi, the simple answer is that people will use alt layer 1's if there are projects producing value on them. That a project could be done with better security on a rollup on layer 2 is not questionable - but if anything the recent DY/DX move shows that a lot of projects care a lot about soverignty

Hey finally a post where we can talk about blockchain architecture! See the thing is between all the chains out there there’s really only about 3-4 different unique ways of scalability (in an architectural sense). You have * interoperability * composability * technical ability When many people ask how Polkadot and Cosmos’ differ it’s quite an easy comparison because both are achieving scalability through the means of interoperability. Avalanche and Polygon use interoperability but more technical ability than a focus on composability. Quant fits into the technical category for me, this is where chains like LINK and QNT and ALGO fit in because their modularity isn’t a feature to their entire system as compared to Cosmos. From the core Cosmos is a monolith modular focused blockchain using liteclients to scale horizontally and IBC to standardize lite client integration and composability. ICS (interchain standards) are being adopted cross chain. I’m not entirely familiar with areas outside my expertise so I find it easier to exemplify the differences rather than analyze QNT’s similarities (whether that be in product or in a mistaken understanding of mine). QNT aims to be what is described as a l0 but really as LINK has shown to struggle with, (and cosmos in a different way I’ll discuss momentarily) some product-services aren’t directly profitable and therefore revenue generation or value accrual must be made on other strong-points. Cosmos’ has shown through this cycle that it struggled to capture value in proportion to its success (mind you I’m not shilling I’m trying to be factual). Cosmos did not garner the attention LUNA did or really even the hype of JUNO or SCRT at their peaks... ATOM had a problem accruing value because as an open source develop oriented project, the value cosmos brought was in its DX (developer UX). Cosmos is an amazingly friendly ecosystem to developers and is the largest SDK being built on in blockchain currently. This boom of growth was not capture entirely in ATOM token but instead in the vibrant ecosystem that grew. QNT is more like LINK. QNT is a powerful technology and will likely find its way to be IBC native sometime. Chains like LINK and Quant are going to show that you don’t just need modularity as an architecture but you also need it as a service and that private sector technologies will depend on the ability to connect to cross-chain data infrastructure is what makes the proposition of QNT promising but again doesn’t guarantee product market fit. Gen4 crypto will come from the L2’s and L0’s that were tried and trued this cycle. Cosmos is building cross chain composability, and chains like Celestia will launch making integration for chains like QNT into the cross chain ecosystem even easier. I’ll probably add a bag of QNT when markets look good my pockets are thin.

I think you misunderstand the multisig approach. The idea is you have like a 3/5 multisig.
