> No they literally cannot without trust. This is subjective. During initial roll out, yes, accounts and verifiers will be trusted sources. Most zkBTC teams are aware of this and have proposed decentralized solutions. Now, since you know so much about ZK tech then explain to me how a ZK roll up on ETH is using zero trusted sources (HINT: it’s not, sequencers and even the bridges are currently trusted forms). > The whole thing with L2s on eth is that if they go wrong you have an escape hatch to L1. Wrong again. As I outlined above, L2s in their current state have bottle necks at the sequencer and bridge level. If a layer 2 is breached at either of those levels you are not escaping to layer 1. In the future this will change with companies like Scroll rolling out decentralized proofs for their sequencer. Which funnily enough will be done by either ASICs or GPUs to make the proofs. > This can’t be done in a trustless matter on btc, because bitcoin doesn’t have any smart contracts (not in any usable way anyways). These “nfts” will probably also be rejected later because they’ll bloat the chain. Lack of turing isn’t a feature, it’s lack of one It isn’t currently being done in a trustless manner on ETH. So why is it OK on ETH but not on a new development on BTC? Regardless, decentralizing the state channel is infinitely easier than creating a sequencer. Proofs are orders of a magnitude less complicated and computationally efficient compared to ETH. NFTs on BTC are not going to bloat the chain. That’s not how it works. It may bloat a block but due to BTC node structure it won’t bloat the chain in any significant way. Lack of Turing completeness is definitely a feature. It’s brought security to BTC. Just because you can say the sentence doesn’t make it correct. You haven’t brought anything new to the table. You seem to be a little behind not only on BTC tech but also your own chains tech. You try and call out problems with ZK tech as a whole when it applies to both BTC and ETH. With the former being much much easier to actually decentralize. Tribalism much?

Rallies always occur in bear markets. The first 6 months of 2022 was the single worst first half of a year for the stock market in the last two decades. It's not really THAT surprising that after such a terrible start, we would possibly have dead cat bounces/bear market rallies. Any HINT of good news is enough for some relief in really bad bear markets. Also usually bear markets transition to bull markets long before news and/or the economy starts to get better. The market is forward looking. Usually its when news slowly starts to shift to neutral when the bull market resumes. Not when the news shifts completely to good news.

All those things exist outside of crypto as well. They were invented there. Explain the difference of a rug pull and what the entire market did collectively to an entire generation in 2008. We don't need regulations we need education. The idea that the government needs to step in save grown adults from their own choices is insane. If someone scamed you in crypto ( and they didn't just kidnap you and beat you till you gave up the keys) it's because you gave them your money. This is harsh but the there is a huge part you "let the regulators save us" miss. The government acts in the interest of the powerful and elite at the expense of the rest of us as a matter of policy. Do you know that there are entire classes financial instrustments you can't even access unless you are an Accredited Investor . Look up what it takes to be one. (HINT: be super rich). You really think the regulations are going do be designed to protect the middle class? Get real. More likely they just make it only available to, and this is honestly the word they use "Sophisticated Investors", who they feel are smart enough to be treated like grown ups. Crypto means you are your own bank. Period. You are the only one who is responsible for your money.

Read my post, I've told you how they will stop you. If you're not a retail investor, then no worries. But you know how it takes 32 ETH to run a node? Soon it will take that (or probably much more) to participate in DeFi lending and yield farming. This is what regulation will look like. They'll say "Oh, we can't stop it from happening, so we'll just make it illegal for consumer level investors, so they don't get rug-pulled and otherwise screwed." It will be accepted, because on the surface it will seem like a worthwhile cause to many people, and most will also take their reasoning at face value. "It's for our own protection, right?" They will basically hand the real money-making to the already wealthy, as they have always done. So no, they're no, they're not going into your wallet, of course. But I'll give you one guess what that will do the value of the ETH in your wallet (HINT: you won't like it).

two ways to stake: \- Go with a centralized option: BlockFI, Celsius, NEXO, etc. Do you trust them? After all, "not your keys, not your crypto". \- Go with a decentralized option: Do you trust whatever code enables the staking mechanism to be bug free? Do you trust the people who are administering whatever coin to not pull a rugpull on you and kill liquidity? This stuff happens. HINT: Anyone offering your 3243242432432% APY is a scam and the big question is if you can convert whatever shittoken you traded your BTC/ETH for back into BTC/ETH before the music stops. Anyone offering you <10% APY might not be scamming you... but it pays to do your research. You can stake ETH and earn 5% by betting on the PoS conversion. However, you won't be able to convert back until that move actually happens. For me, having used BLOCKFI for years, I'll take 4% from them and forgo that extra 1% yield for a) the convenient forms for tax-time b) the option to withdraw if I so chose. \- One thought on Blockfi: the interest rates on stablecoins are great but I personally won't touch USDT for even a conversion transaction.. let along a longterm holding. I'm willing to use USDC for conversion transactions (aka to buy crypto I can't access from my main exchanges) BUT I'm also not 100% sure I believe the whole "we have this attestation that we have enough USD reserves vs a proper audit" enough to hold money in USDC for years.

Yes, /r/btc is pro-bitcoin cash, which is just a moniker for "big block bitcoin" or "bitcoin how it originally was". I personally also like Bitcoin SV, which is another version, that has different goals. Bitcoin cash wants to be cash; makes sense. Bitcoin SV wants to be a data ledger for micro-transactions. Also valid, but comes with different trade-offs. I hold both so I don't have to pick one of those. BTC used to be about payments too, but then the narrative about "de-centalization" took over. You should ask yourself what that actually means. HINT: It's mostly use as a red herring and actually BTC and BCH are about the same in terms of decentalization (mining), yet you are right, BCH has 6 different node implementations versus BTC's very centralized development model. The thing is, developers were never supposed to have any power. It's miners who invest in the network and operate it. User nodes are essentially fluff. BTCers will say they help validate the network or some garbage. Ask a BTCer what he/she will do if their node says a block is invalid. There's NOTHING they can do, except accept the network consensus or leave the network. In other words, their home node doesn't do shit. And this, supporting home nodes, is the main argument for continuing to stymie the network with 1MB blocks. It's a joke. Anyone who can read and think can see this, but greed blinds a lot of people. BTC has become something that it never was, and the big block bitcoins are left to complete for the original prize. It's just too bad that the whole space has become a scammer's paradise making millions of off new people who have to wade through all this nonsense. Feel free also to visit /r/bitcoincashsv (this is where I moderate). And I will also recommend (you won't get this recommendation in reverse) that you visit //r/bitcoin. This is the BTC sub. Smart people who ask questions don't last long there. They cannot win arguments on technical merit. Even though they are all balls deep in one of the biggest scams ever (how does the value of a crypto that can't be used for anything keep going up?), yet they will accuse every other crypto project (not just BCH and BSV) of being scams and being run by scammers. Anyway man, good luck. You have walked into a literal can of worms. Most people will eventually find and use bitcoin through apps like twetch.app (BSV) or read.cash (BCH) and won't have to deal with the pain you are currently dealing with. No new users will find BTC that way since it can't be used for anything like that anymore. Such a travesty.

Hi Knurlinger, Just seeing your post. The short answer is, yes, we exist. And we're putting in probably more hours behind the scenes than the community realizes. If you're unfamiliar with the phrase "to drink from a firehose", it is apt. The good insightful content remains there. Always has been. I see it **sorting by "new"**, and I see it in modmail with users asking how to craft something more educational or analytical. What has changed in growing from 20,000 users to 360,000+ users is the signal-to-noise ratio. The absolute quantity of quality posts has gone _up_. But the absolute quantity of _tripe_ (including the schemes) has gone up at a faster rate. It is one of the reasons we stress the [**Supremacy of DYOR**](https://www.reddit.com/r/SatoshiStreetBets/wiki/contentguide#wiki_about_the_.22supremacy_of_dyor.22...). It's not that we're not paying attention, and not working hard for our users, but the [Supremacy of DYOR](https://www.reddit.com/r/SatoshiStreetBets/wiki/contentguide#wiki_about_the_.22supremacy_of_dyor.22...) presumes an educated user will learn ignore the noise while we work on scaling. That's the best defense against pyramid schemes, scams, and shill. I can't think of a single anti-scam post which was not approved. (They sometimes get stuck in filters as false-positives, but they're always approved once seen.) If you have concerns, we're always glad to hear them. The most _effective forum for that_ to _actually move the needle_ is modmail, not a post which we may/may not see. # Please -- we say this often: * **1) The more users understand the moderation "process", the better.** The _only reason_ I'm seeing your note is I just happened to be in the threads for the first time in hours. Moderators are customarily working within modqueue, which is a wholly different UI that users. To work efficiently, we first see: > A) removals, > B) reports, and; > C) spam. So if a post/comment **does not trigger one of those three actions**, it's less likely we'll see it quickly. It could be a few hours or more. So the question should be _"How do we get things to trigger those actions?"_ Auto-mod rules are imperfect when new projects are minted, launched, and promoted within hours. We can't keep up with that sort of inflow without also stiffling legitimate conversations. (Which, again, circle back to the Supremacy of DYOR and the signal-to-noise ratio.) Which all brings up the next point... * **2) Please...use the report button. (HINT: Almost no one does.)** The single best way to keep the sub cleaned up is user reports. Our users are better eyes and ears then we ever will be. Why? See #1 -- if you report something, it shows up in _the moderators'_ interface (which is different than yours). You can even use custom responses to tell us what the specific issue to dig further into is. If five people report something, we notice it even faster. > **Bystander Effect**: And, please -- as other crypto subs advise -- [beware of the bystander effect.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect). It is distressing how many comments talk about scams yet the post has _zero_ user reports. Yes, some of the worse of the 2h-old old, 300+ vote, 25 award rugpull deflationary shitcoins are not reported by anyone at all. > > We all live in this house. Some of the "assigned chores" of every user is a duty to report content which deserves a second look. Moderators are not omniscient. We know about the things we see and we look where users tell us to look. Last night, after I read a used custom report, I spent a few hours going through user reports identifying and banning bots. And we'll be the last people to tell you the sentiment of your post is "wrong". They are valid concerns, and ones we share. The tricky part is separating the wheat from the chafe. We are trying to find the balance while not being overly heavy handed in the process. If you've suggestions, or think we might not have tried something, or why something isn't working, we welcome hearing that in modmail. > **Why modmail? Why not here?** One of the other truisms of any public forum is the scammer and bad actors are reading this too. You do not want to discuss tactics, methods, and procedures on a public forum lest the whack-a-mole get even worse. - - - - - - And has been mentioned elsewhere: We are actively building out the mod team. If there are interested parties with experience, time, passion, and dispassionate discretion to call balls-and-strikes, drop us a line to discuss. I hope this addresses your concerns.
