XBT is a derivative. If there aren't enough buy orders (with BTC as the collateral) the "price" will fall. It has nothing to do with fiat and everything to do with liquidity on their exchange. gg to anyone who got filled. Those are risk free longs when the mark price is pegged on spot exchanges.

Sure 0%as I wrote is not entirely correct. The tax is 2,5% per year+when you sell+courtage for Bitcoin XBT for example. So still way less than 30% and much easier not needing to do declare it. So idk where you get 30% on a 7% yearly gain from?

Thanks, didnt know you could do that. Looked at Avanza and seen theres XBT but priced at 1500sek. So if you buy into the XBT, its like paper BTC, and you get a fraction of a BTC that is pegged to the actual BTC price, right?
If you own actual bitcoin or any other crypto, you have to pay tax on your profits. But in Sweden we have a special type of account called "ISK" which basically stands for "Investment Savings Account". The holdings in an ISK are not taxed on the basis of profits taken. Instead you are taxed a very small percentage of the total value of the securities held in the account. Bitcoin can not be held in an ISK obviously, but there are a few solutions that are similar to ETFs, like bitcoin XBT, that can be held in an ISK account. Thereby you avoid the tax on the profits with this solution.

As a Swede living abroad: You should really try living in other countries for a bit. You'll see that Sweden in most respects is pretty fucking awesome in comparison to most other countries. Also, if you want to invest in crypto in Sweden, why not get an ISK account at avanza and buy a certificate like Bitcoin XBT? You will pay next to zero taxes on your gains.

Theres a shit ton of ETPs in Europe that track the underlying asset and are fully backed by the underlying asset, first one since 2015. XBT Provider / CoinShares / WisdomTree / VanEck / Valour all have ETPs available for europeans. I think you can't have actual ETFs for non-institutionals/pro's due to UCITS which requires diversification.

What are you talking about? XBT Provider (the oldest one afaik) / CoinShares ETPs are backed by underlying, they even have a proof of reserves system on XBT provider site. The prospectus states that CoinShares holds corresponding amount of the underlying asset.

Ooooh this is a good question!! And I’ve honestly been eager to answer it for a while because I’ve tried sharing my process before and people thought it sounded kind of shillish :P But I subscribe to sofi daily for some email updates in the morning across both markets crypto and traditional and I’m on coindesk and cointelegraph to check the latest news aswell and from there I just bounce around and just 2x-3x verify what I’m reading if it holds my interest :) Also to answer your question about how I would research a project is pretty basic I start with an online search and I usually like to start at the foundations page or something official in regards to whatever I’m researching and then I start checking out the developing stories and stories being released recently about the topic and like I mentioned earlier this is where the double and even triple checking sources comes in to make sure you’re speaking on facts and learning about the right topics from reputable sources. There’s a wealth of news but certain sites you’ll be able to start noticing work better for you than other sites that even I might use but I can’t forget to mention checking out the analytics; I like to go on coingecko (browser for initial research it has more options to view charts, app for monitoring prices and quick price checks/comparisons etc. but I also go on coin market cap to get a feel of consistency because I’ve noticed that different analytic sites will sometimes display different but also another awesome one for analyzing coins is geckoterminal imo. Tbh I’m a news whore I still even pop into voyager app even though I hold nothing and refuse to use them but just to read the headlines and click into any that seem impactful or important/interesting to me, I do the same with coinbase but as I mentioned earlier certain sites will tailor what news they offer and I think that’s on purpose to keep people only using that source of news in the dark on things that should be discussed on the platform’s newsfeed, but nonetheless I’m sure I’ve missed some and in regards to crypto YouTube I would take them all with a suspicious standpoint just don’t accept what they say verify because it’s not as easy as who you can and can’t trust it’s more of who is well versed on the news they’re breaking like for example I can NOT stand The Coin Bureau but he has 2 videos up recently about CBDCs and a report that was written on them by someone at the IMF and I found that intriguing and I was able to pull from that but generally I’ve found him to be inaccurate bordering on incompetent. Your honestly in the best place I’ve found that has news related to the space all consolidated from many of the sources I listed and even more I haven’t, as long as your approaching things with an apprehensive mind and have the desire to verify and chase down whatever information your researching you really can find a great deal of information on here For example I joined back around this past Christmas time and I’ve easily learned and connected with more resources in the space here in 7 months than I had previously in 2 and 1/2 years 😬 I could also just be slow too lol so your mileage may vary haha! Just to touch again on the YouTube channels because even though it’s my opinion that it’s not the best place to stay up to date on the happenings and news in the space I almost forgot to mention there are 2 that I would recommend to everyone and that’s Coffeezilla and ZachXBT, XBT is more so the basis of videos and he’s being covered but I’m sure he’s made an appearance over call or in video that I haven’t seen, idk I’m not too active on YouTube except for research really 🤣 I know that sounds contradictory but I’m not using it to research blockchain tech I use it to fine tune my understanding and knowledge on other fields/topics etc. I hope this massive book of a comment finds you well and that it helps relieve some anxiety about researching, you really can go about it how ever you feel comfortable, I by no means am a crypto wizard or have a supreme way it’s just what I’ve found works for me and my investment strategy and has served me well I’ve been able to dodge all the major collapses and to date my biggest loss is $3.77 of Luna so with the right vigilance like I was saying and risk management you can operate in areas others have been wrecked if you so wanted, like for example I mentioned I’d been through voyager but I hadn’t mentioned I’ve actively traded and used each service that has went under and been able to withdraw and leave as soon as I got the stomach feeling that stuff wasn’t right off articles I would read like I’ve rode through ftx Celsius donut finance Gemini binance voyager obviously :p and idk I’ve just never been apart of a loss or vulnerability; Part of that I thinks the network of awesome people I’ve met on here from all types of technological backgrounds and it’s been a real blessing, it’s a wonderful place but at the same time there’s probably a handful or two of scammers that will read over this message by the time you have and try to message you or me offering help/services/profits etc. so just be very weary of DMs, be polite and respectful but just assume it’s a social engineering scam right away and be mindful of information released if you decide to chat and ya that’s really all I have off the top of my head!

But my XBT-USDT perpetual contract still charging me funding (since I went long) instead of paying me funding. Although I guess they don't want the price to go up per se, they just need to manipulate the funding rates to keep it as close as possible to the underlying asset. Yeah sorry I hope you didn't take my comment as being dismissive of yours! There's always the risk that we may see a new local minima. I personally believe that we have yet to see all-time max, but there's always the chance that I'm wrong about that, too. I only intended my comment to complement yours to keep things in perspective. Were we to see XBT go down to 12k, it's important to remember that on a timeline as short as the past 5 years, that's *still roughly 33% higher* than the previous high on that timeline. That's about what you would get from an investments that compound at a an annual rate of 7%, which is the figure that I use for conservative investment account projections. It looks even better if you calculate the moving average, but I'm not going to do that here. Just wanted to share that whatever comes for XBT, I don't think anyone should be all too concerned in the long run. Just remember to diversify (not with shitcoins).

Great advice. I'm leaning more on the side of DO invest in altcoins though IMO. But, when the bear does come to convert most of that back to XBT/USD to have money to buy when prices go lower. You HAVE to do your own research though, not trust some youtube video that's using you as exit liquidity. Been in crypto since 2016 & I've learned the best place to make the most returns is altcoins. Especially the ISO20022 coins. I for SURE see a future in XBT though. I make my money off of alts, then put it back into XBT/BTC when it's the bear. Just my own opinion! It's always worked for me. Not saying it will work for everyone.

Interesting how you took the lowest number above when the range is 6-30% off of everything. Are you looking objectively at the numbers ? Lets go with your 6% regardless. Its quite absurd suggesting I would Buy 1 dollar of bitcoin at a time. Lets say I buy 500 usd on coinbase for 0.4% and withdraw for 1 usd = 3 usd in fees , than I use that BTC to make multiple purchases for 10 cents in total fees including loading the LN channel for a total of 3.10 usd in fees. How is it saving? Suppose you want to buy something worth $1. 6% discount for paying with XBT like you said. You but that with XBT so it is $0.94 (in XBT). Then you have to replace spent XBT - you buy $0.94 of XBT. Now you spent 2x$0.94=$1.92 for the item worth $1. What if ultimately XBT goes to the moon? What if ultimately XBT fails? I do not have **certainty** that XBT will succeed. Do you?

That would be a good strategy if XBT replaces other currencies (fiat and other crypto) with certainty. Otherwise, you'll be paying 2x the price for everything.

If you still want crypto and stable coins BTC/XBT: Equivalent to ETF for crypto in terms of exposure to sector with less individualized risk. ETH: You clearly have faith in using random services, and they all derive from this. USDC: It’s more backed, reserve ratio wise, than the US dollar you hold in your bank or your pocket. Alts: Just that. Altcoins. Everyone is a gamble. Look at the top 10 every year, and the only two that lasted were BTC and ETH. It gets drastically worse if you do top 25, 50, etc. Don’t try to time buys, Use Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) Google it. Read the white papers, if you read the Terra one, you’d see a bear market and even a cooling of international finance would collapse the whole ecosystem. Learn from your mistakes, and good luck.

I have an app for tracking personal finance. Money Manager EX. Today I look at the currency list and they still have XBT at $10,200. Apparently it hasn’t been updated for years.
