Since June 2022, Ether has reversed trend with BTC and stablecoins, all of BTC, USDT and USDC have been losing ground to it. Another TERRA event could trigger a short term flip, or if something else catastrophically affected the Ethereum network. Beyond that, it's just going to be a slow bleed. Stablecoins have not helped BTC's case at all, i don't understand the narrative here. Stablecoins and BTC have followed the same trendline for 2 months straight.

It already has with still growing amount of new coins or tokens for all sorts of purposes over 20k now I remember when it was just 1 literally. Then the next 100 coins made that are or aren’t here anymore or have an value. So what are the types of cryptocurrency? We have the main 7 but there are more.. this 7 includes utility coins, payment coins, security coins, and stablecoins. There also are DeFi Tokens, NFT Tokens (non fungible Tokens) and asset-backed tokens. Of all these types cryptocurrencies, the most common are utility and payment tokens. These do not have their investment-backed or guaranteed by regulation. Also it’s IMO with the BIG DOGS or top 5 or top 10 (not including stablecoins) this “Crash” or “Recession” will not hurt these coins or tokens long term. It will To Some Extent yes.. Like anything everything has a ripple effect in more ways that anyone can physically imagine regarding anything in the space time continuum. The only reason one of these coins or tokens would drop to a minus 99% or even minus 80% then that might cause them to “die” but this would be an external or internal issue or feature or say leaked information shared they had hidden or whatever that makes them loose their finacial backing and or trust from consummate or any of their stakeholders. But that’s not to mention we don’t know what this will of ever it is that comes to the surface that makes the coin dive into the sea to drown. Simple recent example $UST as quoted on r/coinmarketcap “The Terra blockchain has officially halted and $UST has remained de-pegged from the US dollar since 9th May 2022.” It’s screwed millions of people millions of $$$$$ dollars or billions of $$$$$. Well, I'm still hurting from the pound of flesh I left on UST! So I'm avoiding logarithmic stablecoins for now, but actively looking for alternative stables. It's important that Justin Sun mentioned he learnt with TERRA's mistakes, but more & different mistakes can happen, that's why I believe that multiple mechanism could and should be used to avoid another LUNA to happen! Either using CASH to back it, low to no leverage, synthetic assets as DAFI, or anything else, ideally all of them and more! The bottom line is that even stablecoin holding should be diversified!

According to its Whitepaper, USDD is not yet collateralized by TRX (the same way TERRA/UST was). It is expected to happen in November 2022. That's when it's probably going collapse if history is anything to go by.

Contrary to what most people say on this sub, crypto will mostly follow stocks and more importantly the economy. If the economy is crashing, stocks and crypto will too with crypto taking bigger losses due to the high risk investment. It most likely wont go back up for a while. The regulations make it more difficult for this type of company or institution to grow so much as to represent an enormous risk for thousands of investors. For example, under a correct US regulation (which unfortunately does not exist), TERRA would not have been possible.

individual currencies have 'failed' due to hyperinflation, and been replaced by other currencies; TERRA/LUNA has failed I'd argue, along with dozens of other coins that didn't survive various 'crypto winters', so both have had failures but crypto has proportionally had many more failures (both in terms of money lost, and amount of failures) in the past 100 years (1922-2022) there are less than 100 currency 'failures' (where currencies were worth so little and had to be replaced by something else) but in the past 10 years there has been dozens (at least) of cryptocurrencies that no longer exist, or their value has dropped so dramatically that they are 'worthless' - I'd argue that that is a failure just like in fiat currencies, except that in fiat currencies, once the value gets so low, they end up being replaced, with a lot of crypto, worthless coins just sit there still existing fair enough - I guess my terminology between broker/central exchange was confused

Crypto X has a market cap of 500 million USD 2. Whale A purchases 1 million USD of Crypto X 3. Crypto X market cap now has a market cap of greater than 501 million USD, because the large buy pressure is going to cause price appreciation for all of the assets held by everyone else in the ecosystem The optimistic case for crypto is that as more people use an ecosystem, it becomes more valuable for everyone involved. It is not simply as simple as “early investor takes the 3$ out that a new investor puts in.” Now, this also unfortunately works in reverse - when LUNA/TERRA crashed hard, the entire market cap could not be liquidated into an equivalent amount of FIAT.

I of course know of coinmarketcap and coingecko but I think that only looking at the market cap of a coin is not enough to rate a currency. I consider my Luna lost. If they manage to salvage anything, good. I can't blame them for trying. In my opinion the most reasonable thing would be to create a new token to replace LUNA (call it TERRA for example, as the chain), airdrop it to blockchain users based on their holding before the depeg and make it the fee-paying token for the Terra blockchain. For a while it would work as a smart chain layer 1, which has done quite well so far. Even while congested because of the depeg frenzy, Terra kept operating very well and none of my transactions failed or took too long. That's already better than what I've seen happen in most of the other layer 1s during congestion. Then a new FULLY COLLATERALIZED (enough with the algorithmic stuff) stablecoin could be issued. But only after some thorough evaluation and planning. And last but not least, Do Kwon should step down, sell all his shares in Terraform Labs and stay away from crypto forever. No way I am putting even 1$ in anything related to that clown anymore.

I know it's pretty obvious for anyone who has functional eyes, but don't buy TERRA at this moment. TERRA is printing millions of new tokens every minute, it's doubling its supply every hour, the inflation is extremely massive. It's plain stupid to buy, and yet people are buying!! It's a fucking black hole right now. Don't do that.

The answer is probably "Yes", I would think, but does anybody know for sure if Wrapped Luna (WLUNA) is just as screwed if LUNA goes to $0? WLUNA is an Ethereum-based ERC-20 token that represents Terra (LUNA) on a different blockchain. It's on the Ethereum network, not TERRA.

This days are strange. Wish the people who are invested in UST or TERRA the best, and pls search for help when you need it. Suicide isn't a solution and it's one of the worst things for people who love you. And yes somebody loves you, nor will love you in future in some way.

Basic: UST is a stable coin who’s value is (meant to be) always = $1, isn’t like other stable coins. Most stable coins keep their value by having cash to back every coin. But UST uses an algorithm and trading of LUNA and TERRA to keep the value at $1 = 1UST. This failed, as some other algorithm-backed stablecoins have.
