Anyone who was around in the ICO days (probably around 2016/17? I bought all of them. Golem (GNT) is the one I remember the most. I stayed up all night waiting for the launch and I was able to buy 40 ETH worth. Sure wish I kept that 40 ETH instead lol. Most of the ICOs from that time went nowhere, everyone just wanted to buy and flip the day they came out. I held. And held. And held.
AI and blockchain are natural partners, but not in the way these chains are trying to do… Idk if any old heads remember GNT/GLM, golem network some old school chain with the concept of distributed computing power. Where users can rent their unused compute on the golem network market for others to compete tasks. The problem with AI/AGI is the pure amount of compute required to run simulations or even just initial training. If more people started renting their computing power on such projects as golem then theoretically it will become cheaper for people to train AI/AGI than a centralised organisation doing funding rounds to buy up 100b chips to compute with. In an ideal world:-)
This is the top 10 cryptos from around 5 years ago 1. BTC - Bitcoin 2. ETH -Ethereum 3. XRP 4. XEM -NEM 5. ETC -Ethereum Classic 6. LTC -Litecoin 7. DASH 8. XMR -Monero 9. BCN -Bytecoin 10.GNT -Golem How many of the current top 10 will survive? thrive?
First investment after ETH was Golem (was GNT, now GLM) @ $0.01. Only bought $440 worth, because it's all I could afford at the time - still holding all of it, so it's not doing too badly, but would have been much better if I sold a bit at ATH. I bought up almost all the Ethereum ICOs during the craze, and still hold most, sadly. Made up a little ground on new projects like Polygon (100k MATIC @ $0.05 but sold 80% between $2.50-3.00, though now I'm adding more). I have over 100 projects I invested in that I've held, even though most are dead, in my primary Ethereum address alone! Thankfully, the good ones far out-buoy the dead.
When I was brand spaking new to crypto, I loved the value proposition of GNT (distributed, rentable computation power). I believed that Digibyte was superior tech to BTC *and* my ETH farm could dual mine it. I believed that Dash had widespread adoption and privacy in a way that would make it a real currency. Also, I thought MCO was a great idea - imagine it, a crypto credit card! As a former MCO holder, you can imagine why I refuse to even consider CRO... Anyway, all those projects died, dried up, were abandoned/rugged or went nowhere.
tldr; Stephanie’s (GMT) and Green Satoshi (GNT) tokens plunged following the announcement that the STEPN app would ban players from mainland China. GMT fell from $1.24 to $0.83 following the ban announcement but has regained strength and is now at $1 *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. Post is by: Novel-Counter-8093 and the url/text [ ](https://goo.gl/GP6ppk)is: /r/CryptoCurrency/comments/t9pvx8/alot_of_people_say_long_term_hold_or_10_year/ with BTC and ETH as the exception, lets travel back to 2017: the year of GNT, Funfair, District0x, PowerLedger, Funfair, Mirocana, Potcoin, Litecoin, Neo, OmiseGo, Augur, SALT, etc. just to name a few. Well let me ask, how many of you are still holding onto these, waiting for the big "pump", considering its only been 5 (long) years? And now how many of you have sold these off long ago after seeing they have done nothing but stagnate? remember how PowerLedger was backed by Elon? dont tell me there is still some of you out there still hoping POWR will hit $10 a piece. Remember how Mirocana was supposed to be this revolutionary AI trading bot, and now its gone? Coins like Monero, LTC, XLM, XPR, sure, they survived, but they have been stagnant since. How many of you actually have the patiencr to sit through that seemingly endless stagnation? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. GNT / GLM Golem. The idea behind the project is brilliant: share computing power around the world to lower the cost of renting supercomputer levels of processing power. This tied in with a true IOT utilization would solve so many problems once we hit that stage wherever absolutely everything is connected to the blockchain / internet of things. I still love the idea. The token has done very little though.
It's a bit arbitrary to call out gains from ICO when that's not an entry point must of us got. I got in around May 2017 so by that time I had already missed on the ICO gains you're referring to. I would've missed out on a significant amount of gains had I stubbornly held on to GNT rather than looked elsewhere (GNT is about 4x now from where it was when I originally bought in).
Question about your GNT. Why didn't you convert to GLM during the migration (you still can). GLM still sits at around 0.65USD. Unless you bought at the top (~1 or 1.20USD), you most likely bought at or below the current price.
Huh - my ultra low-cap moonshot is up nearly 50% today. I'm in it for the long haul (3-5 years) so I don't pay much attention to it. Yes, this is a shill - something I usually don't do. Greentrust - GNT (you can read about it on coinmarketcap) - the symbol used to be golem but golem changed their ticker last year and this one is fairly new. Their aim is carbon neutral crypto and they plant trees It trades on pancakeswap
GNT, CKB - low market caps - GNT is super low - I like the tree planting part. CKB just because I have a good feeling about it. It's low cap and fairly cheap, though it has 3x in the past month. It's taking a rest right now.
Ox still fine. GNT- I don't think it's going anywhere special or it already would have. Vertcoin- meh, was hyped hot shit a few years ago but it's pretty dead now. SNT - Dead imo NEM - honestly haven't followed it in years but also haven't heard much about it either which also is not good. Verge- still kicking because it's cheap and on a few decent exchanges. I don't think it will be great but it's not dead. Dgb- poor man's coin that gets pumped every once in a while. Etc- is a borderline meme coin now. It's on RH so people buy it but have no idea what it is. It's dead tech and should be a dead coin.
Nostalgia value - vertcoin (VTC) for sure. Too lazy - Old version of GNT too lazy to convert it because GAS fees are more than it’s worth -NAV Coin - have a good amount left over from a few years ago. Tried to sell it a few times but the update time take to long sync the blockchain data so probably just gonna leave it there forever.
GNT - Greentrust, not Golem (some exchanges still have old info) I like the tree planting thing. And it's pretty low cap. I put some of my BNB profits into it. Trades on pancakeswap so it's wicked cheap to trade. Check out their website - you can find the info on coin market cap
Huh, my long shot small market cap is up pretty good in the last 24 hours. One of the few things that are up. GNT (green trust ) - I like their purpose and who doesn't like planting trees and lowering carbon emissions? The problem with small market cap coins though is the big swings you have to stomach. I'm in this one for the long term so I'm going to try not to look at it too much, I think
[GNT migrated to be GLM](https://blog.golemproject.net/gnt-to-glm-migration/), it's still technically [in progress](https://glm.golem.network/) and forever will be since it's a decentralized opt-in migration running on the contract level. Golem as a project is larger than it's ever been, there's an [awesome list](https://github.com/golemfactory/awesome-golem/blob/main/README.md) of community created apps and tools, the network has more nodes this year than it has before ([stats](https://stats.golem.network/)), there's been over 300k GNT / GLM given out to the community since July last year in the [GLM Rewards Program](https://blog.golemproject.net/community-incentives-program/), not including bounties and hackathons in the last year (48,000 GLM + 83,180 USDC). Thorg just came out too. Transactions surpassed [100k transactions yesterday](https://twitter.com/MineWithThorg/status/1453310830318084097), only 34 days since launch.
My moonshot coin is up too! I wonder if people are just buying low cost projects. But instead of dogs, I went in on the environment. I got in at .05 on DOGE and .0000001 on Shiba so I am not a follower, LOL GNT is my moonshot these days.

I've been looking at GNT - pulled the trigger super small (like 5 bucks) a few days ago. It's a little bit of a pain because you can only get it on pancakesaw (or I can only get it there - I am in the US) I just really like their goals and what they are doing.
I'm watching CKB (haven't bought yet) and GNT (love the concept, bought very, very small to support, but still deciding) I'm looking for the same thing. People here have been very helpful - I asked this question yesterday and got some good leads to research. I'm trying to stay away from stuff that's been hyped - but good ones are hard to find.
What are some small market caps you are interested in? I've been looking into CKB but I haven't made myself pull the trigger yet and I've bought a small amount of GNT to start with. I'm looking for small market caps that have potential that I can throw 100 bucks into and not look at it again for a couple of years.
GNT migrated to GLM, the project has grown more this year than ever. There are layer 2 payments, both ZkSync and Polygon (on [Thorg](https://www.thorg.io/)). And node counts are quite significant, roughly 20-30% of nodes on Ethereum: [https://stats.golem.network/](https://stats.golem.network/)
