I mean you actually put out quite some reasons for yourself. We didn’t „transition from web1 to web2“, web2 just solved slightly different problems (hosting and scalability) better. There is still a lot of web1 applications. The apps I build for myself live on my own Intranet - that’s web1 and I would not want web2 for that. And with that sentence, you somehow see this as a justification to „this is why we should upgrade to web3“. No, there is no reason you gave in this sentence - and that mirrors the first issue that people have with blockchain. You don’t even know so certainly what you’re improving on, how do you want to know that your solution is better? Because the number is higher? Why would Amazon.com be better on web3 if they would still pool all their ops through a central legal entity? Why would google.com be better on web3 when they must pull pretty much all tricks out of their sleeves to make the search engine scalable enough for half of humanity? web3 apps are by definition less performant, they scale worse and are multitudes less cache-friendly (as they literally live on another CPU). Plus a lot of other reasons. Take Ethereum, the „world computer“. Really good concept and I like that a lot. Have you asked yourself how much computational power the network has? You’d guess that you would want to know how many FLOPs it can actually process - well, since Ethereum does not even have floating point operations, that question is a bit moot. And to integer ops, it’s not competitive against a single supercomputer out of the top 100 so far. Scale that against the power necessary to operate and store the network (yes, also after POS) and you’re looking at a DAMN inefficient machine. Plus, have you actually asked whether someone really NEEDS and wants web3? Do you know why there was a transition to web2 from web1? People did not want to host their own mail servers. And arguably, services like gmail are a lot better in this. What makes you think people want less of that? Look where your wallets are accessible, MetaMask is used, people trade their crypto on CEX rather than on DEX, for NFTs OpenSea is used - this is literally web2 all over again. And not because someone is „new to the concept“ but because not everyone wants to set up their wallet CLIs. Turns out the majority doesn’t want to. Then your second paragraph also has a nugget that you see often enough: „we can move from traditional systems to blockchains for better probability, authenticity etc.“ what is that sentence even supposed to mean? This is just accumulating words and hope something sticks. Systems having „better probability“? Come on. While there is really great tech implementations beneath this (after all, BTC was not something new conceptually but the implementation was something new) there is just so much garbage sticked together. Stuff that’s either completely false, shows the reader who DOES know that you’re full of shit, so you only get cited by people that also don’t know and just go on and think what you wrote is kinda okay. But of course you have to write something because all others do. Blockchain is EVEN WORSE in terms of nonacademic publications than data science and that is a really high bar to hit. Plus in the next 5-10 years? You have ticketing systems on medium-sized software projects that wouldn’t be empty in 5 years if you’d close them down now. Shows that you also can’t grasp what size the problem is you’re dealing with. And that’s three of the dozens of reasons there are.

Whenever there is a push by social and regular media to buy something they want the money. In securities and crypto when everyones saying buy its so you can buy in, push up price and then they sell out, dropping price, you sell at loss, they buy back at lower rinse and repeat. Fomo can really make shit move. Dont trade more then your willingly to lose. Dont trade on emotion alone (some would say not at all so you figure it out). Buy what you think will accrue value in the time you want and stick to your guns. DO THE GOD DAMN DD ON EVERYTHING! The one i always think back to is the guy who made out stupidly on ups. When covid hit he made out dam good cause he knew ups would have good earnings even though everyone said hell no with the gas prices then. Why did he buy ups? He knew they ran on natural gas not gasoline. The smallest thing everyone misses sometimes pays big. Do your DD! DD shows institutions are battening down hatches and crypto is a speculative asset that is first to go when money gets tight for them. And since its not regulated for shit you see the pump and dumps on the regular while still maintaining a downhill slide until either institutions dont have to sell to cover loans anymore or they run out of crypto and itll come down to the crypto community holding to keep its value. Do your DD! Crypto is far from done (atm) so why would anyone sell at a loss right now? Hold that shit and forget about it for the next 5 years. Not the altcoins but the major tokens will still be around for a minute. Buy and hold your coins, dont fomo, and itll end faster and rebound sooner the faster everyone does this. If everyone holds and doesnt sell the algos cant pump and dump retail which will force liquidity to dry up faster for institutions. Itll drop faster but that will allow it to bottom and start back uphill sooner. Fomo drives algos, algos drive volume, volume drives price. Until you eliminate the algos. Tldr; do DD and f*#k algos.

This may in part be due to the fact that the foundation of a certain crypto which backed a certain stablecoin which recently failed (DAMN it's hard to avoid the censorship on here and still communicate your idea), had to liquidate over 80,000 Bitcoins. Well, those had to go somewhere.

I had the SAME problem with CoinTracker myself. The STUPID SHIT software would count my withdraws to a hardware wallet as a net loss. Then I would manual override it and label it as a transfer only... but still alot of numbers were OFF. Paid for the higher tier choice... WASTE OF GOD DAMN MONEY. Just take the weekend off and learn EXCEL and do it yourself. You will feel so much more confident that the IRS won't come after your ass.

Being a protocol, other protocols may be created and may use smart contracts to interact with the others, and well from your point of view, unfortunately that is what Abracadabra has done. They’ve managed to provide enough liquidity in MIM to leverage UST out the wazoo. Anchor voted to keep the degenbox live however, so with that, our hopes for sustainability are more assets to borrow against, more UST integrations across various blockchains and more etc. Its a work in progress like EVERYTHING but it’s done some DAMN good work for me so far :/
