Yes, for real. There is a simple "ndapp" (Neo Decentralized APP) called "gas-calculator" that shows the current APR based on your votes. For me it is 16.50% This will result around 18% APY. March will be around that because NEO started to go up a little so the GAS/NEO ratio is went up as well from 2 to 2.3. And if this ratio goes up the APY goes down obviously. And I am talking about NEO N3 version of course. (NEO was one of the 1st blockchian to do a seemless blockhain upgrade, half year before ETH in 2021 August.) The beauty is that NEO and GAS usually stay together (pump together and dump together), and this 20% APY can be achieved when their ratio is around 2. My strategy is to buy NEO (preferably low during crypto winter, so not now), and hold and reinvest generated GAS to NEO. And even if I sell NEO for the same price (which can be a safe speculation), I got a good APY reward... Why "selling for the same price is possible in the future" is a safe specualtion? NEO has the proof of time, its an old project, I think that has a bigger value than hypes in new projects, and they never stoped working on it. (In fact their consensus mechanism, which is not PoW or PoS, but dBFT, is the only one that can support MEV resistancy currently). So I doubt this project will be abandoned in the near nd mid future. I don't understand why does every fckin L2 need to have their own stupid token. ETH should just make a GAS token they use and force every L2 to accept it as gas and use ETH just for staking and shit. Adoption of crypto is stuck between high gas fees and complexity of bridging. It's going nowhere like this.

I’m not a tax advisor, but my understanding of US tax law is that a swap is a taxable event. So if you swap BTC for another crypto, that’s a taxable event. If you trade that newly acquired crypto for dollars then you trigger another taxable event. Sending your crypto to a different address is not a taxable event, as I understand the rules. So if you were to send your BTC to another exchange, that’s fine, but keep in mind that all BTC transactions come with a GAS fee (Bitcoin code) and possibly an exchange fee. With all that being said, I think you’re better off selling on Coinbase. You can obfuscate your BTC transfers using a mixer like tornado cash. Not sure about the legality of that, but could land you money laundering charges. I’ve never done it, and IMHO it is not worth the risk. Uncle Sam is going to get his bag one way or another. Again, I am not a tax advisor, nor a lawyer, and I recommend you check with a tax advisor in your local jurisdiction.

2017… saw a bunch of people talking about GAS and bitcoin fees. Honestly at this time thought no one will buy into that as a currency. So I sought out a new one that didn’t have fees. I ended up on Raiblocks, made a decent return on the bomber issues. But didn’t cash out of crypto. I think I still have my wallet from way back when. I have since gone in on loads of coins, including BTC and ETH but have settled back on Ӿ (nano) and ADA.

Also, as far as needing the native asset to transact, I wasn't completing a transaction on ETH at that point, I was just getting ready to do that. I understand that swapping USDC for ETH counts as a transaction, but if it's necessary to have ETH to do this, then why would Rabby design a feature called ',top up gas' when you NEED GAS TO BE ABLE TO TOP UP?!

Ok. More helpful than the other answers but you're still not understanding. Maybe you haven't looked at Rabby wallet, I don't know. I do understand gas, you don't need to explain all that. Let me explain again. There is a button on a Rabby that says 'top up gas '. When you click on it, it then lets you select the network and the token that you want to use to top up with. I selected BNB or BRC or whichever it is now, and I selected USDC. I did this because I already had 10 USDC that I'd previously sent there on BNB Then Rabby told me that the minimum for this top up gas feature was $24. So I sent another 16 USDC to the wallet. At this pound I could have obviously just sent some ETH, but I wanted to make use of the 10 USDC that was already there. So then, when I had the required minimum amount ($24 including $4 for fees), I went back to the top up gas feature and tried to complete it. ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH GAS! How does that make any sense?

Yeah. Neo has a byproduct coin called GAS. Each Neo you hold gives you a percentage of gas every block. And if you vote you can make around 19% APR currently. The more Neo you hold the more Gas you generate. And you can link a web app to your public wallet and easily convert your gas to more Neo. It takes a few seconds.

Sol is odd with the slashing but if the node is legit? Staked Eth, you need 32 E to do that yourself? And, the hardware to validate unless you're staking via an exchange along with the computing know how to set that up. NYKNYK IK but if you have 1 eth, staking it on an exchange could be better. Coinbase has insurance for loss of customer funds if they get hacked NOT if you get hacked, in theory if you are staking there and keep your shit safe, there is a degree of insurance there? Plus the exchange has incentive to be a good validator due to loss of reputation etc etc. There is always risk. I agree delegated staking is better, Cardano is less risky due to the never leaving your wallet, TRX I think is the same but with a lock period of 3 days but i dont think the TRX leaves your wallet? I never go that far with crypto(atm) in terms of hardware. DeFi is very high risk - LP pools and farming is risky staking. With your NEO staking, you still have to convert the GAS to something else? Or do you mean gas like eth, so by delegating your NEO you get NEO via gas fees?

Buyer beware. Lot of people raved about Celsius. It was reputable too. Staking like that is a “fuck no” for me. But I’m a bitcoiner not a crypto enthusiast. I couldn’t sleep at night letting someone else hold my precious coins without some form of legal insurance. The only thing I’ll do is NEO. You hold it on your hardware wallet securely. Then you vote for a delegate. And you get 19% APR in the form of GAS. ARK used to give rewards for voting in the past, but that’s been inactive for awhile now.

We in the NEO community don’t call NEO the Ethereum killer, that’s something that stuck. The blockchain has been slowly advancing and the devs are working hard. EVM coming out and they’re also working on ZK, like you said, just taking some time to look into it will change some minds. Neo is Neo, 1 NEO = 1 NEO. Many are looking at the fiat worth of each blockchain but fail to see the advancements. Specially with many people complaining about the high gas fees on other blockchains. You will also get people who will tell you that if you don’t like the high gas fees on the layer 1 blockchains to use the layer 2 blockchains (but they don’t believe the layer 2 to be worth investing in) By the way, your comment about not locking up your coins to generate GAS is correct. NEO has zero inflation. 100m NEO, period. Passive income comes from GAS, which is the utility token. It has an unlimited supply offset by fee burning so the exact rate of GAS inflation depends on network use.

Why not? I’m not defending NEO here (it’s a horrible investment), but you can offer a yield with a hard limit. There are two ways. 1. Lock up a percentage of the total supply and pay the rewards/yield out of there. Obviously this only lasts so long, but it’s real until it runs out. 2. Do what NEO does, and pay those yields in a second coin. GAS is a different project with different supply numbers. Paying yields in GAS have no effect on the total supply of NEO.

Not everyone gets the same. You have to vote for a delegate and there are 21 that generate gas. If you pick a delegate with less votes, you get rewarded a higher amount of GAS. If you pick a delegate with a large amount of votes you get rewareded less APR. I am staked with a delegate that gives me 19.5% APR currently. The lowest I’ve seen it is 17%. Also like I said, there is no need to give your coins to someone else to hold. You have self custody of them. I currently have them stored in a ledger nano S.

If you have X amount of NEO stored in your hardware wallet, you can vote for a delegate. After you cast your vote you will be given about 19% APR in it’s byproduct a cryptocurrency called GAS. You can easily sell the gas for more NEO and generate more GAS. The larger your NEO stash the more GAS you earn.

I believe NEO to be a top contender blockchain. And with the new NEO X (EVM compatible blockchain) there is many more opportunities to come moving forward. The devs are great. The projects are solid. Also, if you exchange your NEO for cNEO it does the compounding for you. So it votes for the highest yielding candidate and exchanges the earned GAS to NEO for you. You will get much hate here for mentioning NEO, but that’s because they have yet to look into what NEO has been up to and the possibilities that it brings.

BTC would cost a lot of money to make a small transaction. GAS Fees are \~30-40$ at the moment. Does a sepa transfer cost that much? No. ​ Are there any protections if his BTC wallet gets hacked? no. A bank does give you some protection if it happens to you. ​ Its not new, and its not unique. its been around for quite a while. Its too unstable to be used as a general purpose currency though.

KAS & TARA are exclusively being pumped by retail trying to short it and the guys with actual money feasting in the liquidations forcing price higher while the longs they opened extremely cheap are juicing. Nobody is buying either of those at insanely inflated prices to hold. It's just like GAS recently. They will keep pumping as long as retail keeps shorting.

Seeing all the MOON talk, I finally decided to spend some time setting up a Metamask account, adding Arbitrum Nova, importing the MOON token and voila! Saw how many MOONS I have. 😁 I thought I should cash it in (coz why not)? I went to Sushiswap, connected the Metamask wallet, selected MOON and ETH and hit the Approve MOON button. It tells me I have insufficient funds for GAS. This is where I hit a wall. Can somebody advise what the next step is? I'm new to this (been using CEX mainly). I don't see an option to buy ETH in Metamask (with NOVA selected). I do have ETH on a local exchange so I reckon I can transfer some to cover the gas fees but not sure how to do this as well. Any help please?

A lot of the comments here are misleading. 1. The adversary seems to be sweeping GAS across networks. To do that, you need the private key. Your private key was phished or you accidentally installed a malware. I'd personally just assume your current system is compromised and take action against all wallets (Create new ones). 2. This is what's called a _sweeper bot_. Albeit a pretty simple one because it seems to be leaving ERC20 tokens alone (for now). 3. You need to take action as per the instructions here https://support.metamask.io/hc/en-us/articles/5716855323675 Any other approach will not work. Revoke Cash and other tools which reset the spending approval will only work on ERC20 tokens.

It's a good thing the Solana team has made uptime a priority. Sol has been fully up for about 8 months now. One could argue Eth has been effectively been down when the GAS fees spike & you are unable to make a transaction because the fee is hundreds of dollars or even over $1,000
